Se trata de una herramienta práctica y científica para ayudar a proteger las tierras y recursos de incendios no deseados, y obtener beneficios ambientales y productivos del fuego.La presentación, organizada en conjunto con la Facultad de Cs. Forestales, será el 18 de junio, a las 10 hs en el auditorio del Centro Cultural del Bicentenario. Al mismo tiempo se realizará el lanzamiento de la diplomatura “Manejo sustentable del fuego”, formación que estará destinada a todos los interesados en la temática, con el único requisito de tener el título de nivel secundario.Esta es una de las actividades de la amplia agenda preparada por la Facultad de Ciencias Forestales, organizadas bajo el nombre “Mes del ambiente. (Jeanette DeDios) The National Trust for Historic Preservation has placed the Greater Chaco Cultural Landscape on this year's list of America's 11 Most Endangered Historic Places. The nomination came from the All Pueblo Council of Governors, which supports the preservation and cultural significance of the landscape in the face of increasing threats. KUNM's Jeanette DeDios (Jicarilla Apache and Diné) has more. On the lands of Santa Ana Pueblo, Council members highlighted their ancestral ties to the archaeological and cultural site. Chaco features over 600 rooms built 1,200 years ago with precise geometric masonry and crafted without the use of metal tools. This endangered listing comes after the Bureau of Land Management tried last year to revoke or modify a public order, that currently safeguards over 300 thousands acres of federal land from new oil and gas leasing for 20 years. Pueblo of Acoma Gov. Charles Riley says there's a cultural responsibility to Chaco Canyon. “When we speak of Chaco, we are not merely speaking of ruins, we are speaking of the spirits of our ancestors, who are still present, still teaching, and still carrying and asking us to carry forward what they entrusted to us.” Riley says the Pueblo of Acoma is not opposed to development. “We are opposed to development that proceeds without meaningful consultation, without honest environmental review, and without regard for places that are irreplaceable.” This year's listing is the second time in 15 years that Chaco has been placed on the list. This is the first year that the 11 sites nominated will receive a one-time grant of $25,000 from the National Trust to help with conservation efforts. The council is asking the U.S. Department of Interior to stop the process of dismantling the public land order and make the current ten-mile buffer around Chaco permanent. They are also asking members of the public to contact their Congress in support. A number of Pueblo governors have reached out to Interior Secretary Doug Burgum through letters and invitations to visit Chaco, but he has not responded. KJZZ's Gabriel Pietrorazio has more. The Southern Ute Indian Tribe in southwest Colorado has entered the first-ever Tribal Energy Resource Agreement (TERA), more than two decades after Congress enacted the law. This allows the nearly 1,500 member tribe to handle its own business without obtaining expressed permission from the Interior Department. Councilman Andrew Gallegos testified before Congress last month. “Having the tribe regulate and be the one that oversees all of our compliances and makes us more sovereign as a tribe, and the economic value that it brings is the health and welfare of our membership.” That will include the leasing of energy projects and issuing of right-of-ways on the 700,000 acre reservation near Durango. La Universidad del Noroeste está realizando un trabajo queanaliza la viabilidad de la utilización de paneles solares en edificios.Lo está desarrollando en Resistencia, Chaco. Toda la zona del norte argentino, el nordeste, son zonas muy calurosas,donde prácticamente el invierno dura 15, 20 días, y el resto del tiempo son calores muy, muy sostenidos durante el tiempo y durante muchos meses. Así que ellos tienen sumamente interés en lograr implementar esto en edificios depropiedad horizontal. Esto se analiza desde la etapa del diseño del edificio y van atrabajar con programas que permiten estimar qué porcentaje de generación de energía se necesita según la orientación, altura y la radiación solar. Un panel solar orientado al norte o al sur no capta todo el arco de la salida del sol que sale del este y se pone en el oeste. Jamás hay que orientarnos en sentidonorte o sur.Es un proyecto que está bastante avanzado. Es un inicio. Esto es muy promisorio porque siempre fue el gran desafío los edificios de propiedad horizontal.

Silvia Nuñez y Emilia Pezzati son diseñadoras industriales argentinas y crearon la Cooperativa de diseño hace 14 años. En esta entrevista nos cuentan de su experiencia al crecer profesionalmente en una cooperativa, donde los lazos de amistad y sororidad son arte y parte de su trabajo. Hablamos de la crisis económica Argentina del 2001, donde varias fábricas se convirtieron en cooperativas, y desde la Cooperativa de diseño pudieron acompañar estos procesos. Hay 1100km de distancia del Chaco a Buenos Aires, para que se den una idea de las distancias. También hablamos de otro proyecto con comunidades andinaas trabajando la fibra de vicuña. La comarca de Gúdar-Javalambre, situada en el sureste de la provincia de Teruel y limítrofe con la Comunidad Valenciana, se presenta como un territorio de contrastes compuesto por 24 municipios. Su capital, Mora de Rubielos, se encuentra a menos de 40 kilómetros de Teruel. Se trata de una comarca de montaña caracterizada por paisajes variados, abundante naturaleza y pueblos con encanto.Tal y como explica Alberto Gómez-Chacón, de Turicleta “es uno de esos territorios que sorprenden muchísimo cuando lo descubres”, destacando especialmente “tranquilidad, autenticidad… y por supuesto una red de caminos y vías verdes perfecta para recorrer en bici”.

Selon l'ONU, début 2026, produire de l'électricité grâce au Soleil est désormais environ 41 % moins coûteux que les énergies fossiles. Un basculement économique majeur qui explique l'essor rapide de cette technologie dans de nombreux pays.Le potentiel est colossal. Chaque seconde, la Terre reçoit une quantité d'énergie solaire équivalente à près de 8 000 fois la consommation énergétique annuelle de l'humanité. Sur le papier, la ressource semble donc presque inépuisable. Pourtant, dans la pratique, la production solaire reste sensible aux caprices du climat. Des températures extrêmes peuvent réduire le rendement des panneaux, et des événements violents comme la grêle peuvent endommager des installations entières. Mais un autre facteur, moins connu, influence aussi la production d'électricité solaire : le cycle climatique El Niño – La Niña, souvent appelé ENSO par les climatologues. Une nouvelle étude publiée dans la revue Communications Earth & Environment montre que ce phénomène naturel peut modifier significativement l'ensoleillement à l'échelle mondiale.ENSO est l'une des principales sources de variabilité naturelle du climat. Il alterne entre deux phases : La Niña, associée à des eaux plus froides dans le Pacifique équatorial, et El Niño, caractérisée par un réchauffement de cette zone. Alors que La Niña touche actuellement à sa fin, les scientifiques anticipent un retour d'El Niño entre l'été et l'automne 2026. Or, selon les chercheurs, ces épisodes ont tendance à réduire l'irradiation solaire, c'est-à-dire la quantité de rayonnement qui atteint la surface de la Terre. L'analyse de données climatiques couvrant près de quarante ans montre que les épisodes El Niño provoquent des baisses persistantes de production solaire dans plusieurs grandes régions productrices : la Californie, le sud du désert d'Atacama, le bassin du Chaco en Amérique du Sud, le Moyen-Orient ou encore l'est de la Chine.Le phénomène s'explique notamment par l'augmentation de l'humidité dans l'atmosphère. El Niño modifie la circulation des masses d'air et favorise la formation de nuages, ce qui réduit la quantité de lumière atteignant les panneaux photovoltaïques. Les effets pourraient être particulièrement marqués lors des rares épisodes dits de « super El Niño ». Depuis les années 1980, seulement trois ont été observés. Selon l'étude, ces épisodes pourraient entraîner une baisse significative de la production solaire mondiale, obligeant temporairement certains pays à recourir davantage aux énergies fossiles et augmentant les émissions de CO₂ de plusieurs dizaines de millions de tonnes. En France, l'impact direct semble plus limité en été. En revanche, durant l'automne et l'hiver, El Niño est souvent associé à un ciel plus nuageux et à des conditions plus humides, ce qui pourrait aussi influencer, modestement, la production solaire nationale. El sociólogo Mauricio Suárez, egresado de la UNSE y oriundo de Los Juríes, realizo una estancia doctoral en la Universidad McGill de Canadá, donde profundizó su investigación sobre memorias y territorialidades de comunidades campesinas e indígenas del Chaco santiagueño. Hace más de cuatro mil años una roca gigante de 600 toneladas de peso, llegó hasta nuestra atmósfera y se fragmentó en miles de pedazos que cayeron en forma de una lluvia de meteoritos sobre una superficie de 20.000 km cuadrados repartidos entre tres provincias argentinas: Santa Fe, Chaco y Santiago de Estero. Así nace la reserva natural de Campo del Cielo, uno de los puntos de referencia del estudio de los meteoritos a nivel mundial, y un campo de minas para los traficantes de este tipo de piedras espaciales. The Bros talk with Adrian Barrett of Barrett Custom Marine in Lake Havasu City, AZ, who has built his business into one of the premier boat shops on the West Coast and beyond.  Starting fresh out of high school, Adrian quickly took to the marine industry, completing Tech School and Mercury Marine school and landed his first job at Boatland in San Diego County in California. Then joined the team at DCB Performance Boats in El Cajon, where he earned the nickname "AJ", which are not initials for his name and not a flattering moniker. With vast tracts of farmland and surrounding public lands like George Washington and Jefferson National Forests, anglers experience a true wilderness float, often without seeing another boat all day. 36:27 - Wesley shares that anglers from around the world, including Europe and beyond, are now traveling to Virginia to fish its wild rivers and experience its remote beauty. They've trademarked the phrase “Virginia is the New West” to highlight that the state's rugged landscapes rival those out west, with strong local efforts to keep it preserved. 38:46 - In addition to fishing, Wesley's operation offers a standout upland bird hunting experience focused on wild grouse and woodcock. Since 2017, I decided to change my social media handles from @StephSchuttler to @FancyScientist. I was given this name and I loved it! But have you ever stopped and wondered, when coming across my content, what exactly is a Fancy Scientist?Well, that is what this podcast episode is all about! Despite running this blog for 7 years, changing all of my social accounts, and forming my small business under the same name, I realized I never really told the story of HOW I became known as the Fancy Scientist…And it's important to me because over the years, I've received emails from numerous members of my audience who've read my story and told me that it really resonated with them, that they also didn't feel like they quite fit in in the wildlife biology field.My nickname goes back to when I was a postdoc, working on the eMammal project with middle school teachers. To them and their students, I didn't look like the stereotypical scientist, especially a wildlife biologist. For starters, I'm a woman, and I showed up to work in makeup, high heels, and with sparkly jewelry. Proudly defying these norms, I became known as the Fancy Scientist.But I didn't always proudly defy these norms…Diversity is undoubtedly important in science, and recently, much attention has been given to increasing gender and racial diversity within the sciences. But in this episode, I share how increasing diversity can go even deeper than that and why it's so important.When I was in graduate school, my peers tended to have a specific look that I didn't fit into: field clothes, no makeup, and Chaco sandals. For a while, I dulled my sparkle (literally and figuratively) and toned down my look to fit in. To be honest, suppressing who I was didn't feel good because I was no longer being true to myself. I just felt down.But later, when I fully embraced being a Fancy Scientist, and working in the eye of the public in bright colors and glitter, I served as a reminder to both myself and the future generation that you can be both fancy AND a scientist.As a business owner, I also defined what being a Fancy Scientist means through my company values. And I didn't want it to be exclusive. What about people who aren't fancy in the traditional sense that we think of? Can they be Fancy Scientists too?The answer is yes!
