Coming in with low expectations may have helped this two-parter, as both of us felt the episodes were better than we expected. Welcome back to our Clone Wars rewatch, here on For the Republic: A Love Letter to Star Wars Animation! On this episode, Andrew (@StarlightAndrew), Don (@DonovanMeade), Jake (@JediJake__), & Conor (@DepaBanana) discuss the Blue Shadow Virus arc! We look back at one of our most nostalgic arcs of the early portions of the series, including the campy wonderful villain that is Dr. Nuvo Vindi, all-timer Glup Shitto Peppy Bow, the unexpected origins of Anakin's flirting line in The Phantom Menace, the horrors of Jar Jar in a hazmat suit, and the threat of the titular virus itself throughout the episodes! We also talk about how our views of the episode have changed in a post-pandemic world, and give birth to a few new memes to add to the podcast lore. On this episode, we discussed the new ridiculousness around 'monkeypox' and the propaganda campaign about fear being pushed about it. We compare this virus (which may/may not be similar to shingles which may/may not be a side effect of something...) to the krytos virus in Star Wars and discuss the similarities between the two. We also discuss the conspiracies associated with each including a rather damning scenario run last year by the NTI think-tank which role-played a monkeypox virus rollout. Coincidence? Star Wars Clone Wars Review, Happy Star Wars Day, Week, Revenge of the Fifth, all of it! In this episode we cover Season 1, episode 15, 17, & 18. Trespass, Blue Shadow Virus, and Mystery of a Thousand Moons. The first episode is a random one off one with an alien species you may or may not recognize. After that in the next two episodes we have pretty much all of the main characters, Ahsoka, Obi-Wan, Anakin, Rex, Padme and yes, even Jar Jar Binks. We also come across a very pink Gungan. We then run into a mad Star Wars scientist that is with the separatists? Naboo is the location and a deadly virus is threat. This two part episode takes us on a whirlwind ride. Next week we will cover the end of Season 1 of the Clone Wars! Jawa Chatter Podcast & Socials:

On this episode, we discuss some further Covid and vaccine parallels in Star Wars, namely from "The Clone Wars" animated series (see my episode titled "The Blue Shadow Virus" for a previous discussion on this topic in "The Clone Wars"). We discuss the clone microchip that malfunctions in a clone (Tup) which leadsto the unraveling of a vast conspiracy by another clone (Fives). Would this clone be able to warn others of the impending fate of the Jedi and the galaxy? Or would Palpatine find yet another way to turn the tides in his favor? In Anna's favorite episode of The Clone Wars so far, Sam refuses to say someone died like a b**** (but REALLY wants to). Winter fashion is all the rage on Orto Plutonia, and we find out Anakin and Obi-Wan look exceptional in balaclavas. ... and what Matt and Charlie were like at school. Huh.
After the highs and lows of Revenge of the Sith, it felt like we were due to even back out with some mid-tier content. And hey, good news, the Blue Shadow Virus is nothing if not mid. One one hand, it spends some solid time characterizing nearly every one of our leads. On the other, its combination of mad scientist stock villain, half-developed Bermuda Triangle planet, and bio-terror plot just don't mesh together into anything especially elevated or memorable. But with just one more arc to go in the season, and with some clear signs that the production team is perfecting their technical processes, it does feel like maybe we're nearing the light at the end of the tunnel of mediocrity... The Star Wars puncasters are back (sorry for the delay) with an eerily topical stretch of Clone Wars - one episode involves the death of a decrepit colonial power (TRESPASS), the others are about a deadly virus (BLUE SHADOW VIRUS and MYSTERY OF A THOUSAND MOONS) that is slowly killing a character thanks to the ineptitude of a political representative. There's even a planet with a stay-at-home order in effect! Also discussed: Lady Jar-Jar, Rule 34, and once again... the canonical name for cantina music in Star Wars...

In this episode, the divas discuss Clone War episodes "Blue Shadow Virus" (s1e17) and "Mystery of a Thousand Moons" (s1e18). It was strange watching an episode about the Jedi struggling to contain a lethal virus during COVID, so the episode 'hit' a bit different than it has in the past. The divas do not hold back, sharing their criticisms of these episodes. Why was a Batman villain in the show? Why did the Jedi forget they have powers, and why doesn't clone trooper armor protect against microscopic organisms when it protects them in the vacuum of space? Listen to another hilarious episode of Dark Side Divas now!
