A Prayer for Safety in Rest

Have you ever heard the saying "if you don't rest, your body will force you to?" If you're anything like me, when your body has forced you to rest - it's often after great triumph. Maybe you've accomplished something you've been stressing over or you've completed a task that took a lot of energy and time. For others, rest was forced after an illness or accident. It was forced because at some point, we stopped taking care of our mind and body. Typically this isn't intentional, but it's a byproduct of a great challenge. We can all learn a lot from Elijah. He had just come off of a season of God using him mightily. From reminding a widow that what she believed was the end of the journey for her and her son was simply the beginning of abundance and overflow. To encountering God in a whisper after experiencing the Israelites abandon God and becoming frustrated enough to challenge their false god and watch God show out. And of course, slaughtering those who didn't believe - even if it meant being on the run for his life. But in the midst of running for his life, feeling overwhelmed, likely in pain and soreness - God doesn't get frustrated at Elijah for feeling all the feels. He instead sends an angel to give him what he needed in that moment - the safety of rest. God gave him sustenance and rest so that he could push forward.Could it be that God is isolating you to give you rest? Could it be that God is slowing you down so that you can hear from Him with clarity and full confidence that it's His Voice and not your own? Could it be that He's reminding you that you can do all things through His strength and not your own?Reference Scriptures:1 Kings 19:1-81 Kings 16-19

What if God is calling you go beyond what you think is possible? What if God is calling you beyond what limitations you've put on yourself and on Him? What if He's calling you to push past what happened before or what could be? What if He's calling you back to Faith and away from fear?Esther provides a great example of someone who decided to go beyond what she knew to bring God glory. She went beyond the customs, the fear, the anxiety, the overthinking and she did what she knew God placed her there to do. She was creative with her request and didn't rush into it because she was afraid. Instead, she fasted, she waited, and she went forth with boldness only given by God. Let's push beyond, despite our perception. Reference Scriptures:Esther 4-6

We're living in unprecedented times. But that doesn't mean that the same God that's provided before won't provide again. Unprecedented times don't discount God's grace, God's Word, or God's vision. Unprecedented times don't mean that God's plans don't stand. I know it may not feel like it nor look like it, but God is still working things out for your good - when you're in alignment. But sometimes things working out require rest, stillness, and a reset. Sometimes guidance requires pivoting, picking things up that didn't pursue, or stepping away from relationships or opportunities that are causing more noise. Reference Scriptures:Romans 8:26-28

Have you ever been in a season where it felt like God was withholding the rain? As we dive into James 5:17-18 and the story of Elijah—a man just like us—who prayed earnestly, and God answered. Even when the heavens were shut for three and a half years, something sacred was happening: seeds were still being planted.Elijah didn't stop believing just because there was no immediate evidence of rain. And when the rain finally returned, the land yielded its fruit—not because of the rain alone, but because good seed had already been sown into prepared soil. This episode is a prayer and prophetic charge for entrepreneurs, visionaries, and purpose-driven leaders: stop watching the clock and start tending to your ground. Cultivate faith. Plant with intention. Trust that the rain will come—but even more, trust that God honors what's been sown in faith.Let this be a reminder to shift your focus from timing to tending—because harvest is a result of both what you sow and where you sow it. Your seed is not forgotten. Your soil is not barren. Get ready—God sends rain to the prepared.Reference Scriptures:James 5:17-18

Let's dive into stewardship, shall we? Rooted in the wisdom of Matthew 25:14-30, we explore the Parable of the Talents and uncover key principles about how God entrusts us with resources, opportunities, and influence.Stewardship isn't just about managing what we have—it's about doing so with discipline, innovation, mindfulness, and clearheadedness. Whether you're leading a business, building a brand, or growing in your personal calling, your ability to steward well determines the expansion of your territory. We also have to shift our perspective on stewardship from seeing it as a hardship to recognizing it as an honor. God doesn't entrust just anyone—He gives responsibility to those He believes are capable of multiplying what they've been given. When we embrace this mindset, we unlock the ability to increase for ourselves and for those connected to us.Reference Scriptures:Matthew 25:14-30Romans 2:11

Discipline isn't just about willpower—it's about devotion. When we choose to seek His Word daily and before all else, we're choosing discipline over comfortability. When we choose to pray even when the circumstances look bleak, we're choosing discipline over our feelings. When we choose to fast even when cravings hit and certain activities look appetizing, we're choosing discipline over our flesh. Why? Because discipline brings us closer to discipleship, knowledge, insight, wisdom, strategy, peace, and so much more. Now don't get me wrong, discipline isn't easy. It takes time. It makes persistence, and it takes a daily choice. True discipline isn't about checking a box; it's about aligning your heart with His purpose and trusting the process, no matter how long it takes.Reference Scriptures:Proverbs 12:1Matthew 7:7-8

Have you ever felt God tugging at your heart to go in a different direction? Have you ever been confronted with a dream or a vision that you knew was God inspired but felt contrary to what you were doing currently? Often the moments where God allows us to pivot feel inconvenient, uncomfortable, and even uncertain. They are moments that test our faith and our focus. But they are also moments that lead to breakthrough, healing, and transformation. We see Jesus pivot as He came to the synagogue on the Sabbath to teach and ended up healing a woman who was bound for 18 long years. He healed her in the midst of religious leaders who were so focused on what was written that they missed why it was written and by whom. Jesus was so focused on being about His Father's business that defying religious customs nor people talking about Him could side track Him. He is our blueprint as God tugs on our hearts in this season. Someone's healing may be dependent on you pivoting into a deeper prayer life. Someone's breakthrough could be dependent on you taking the leap of faith. Someone's obedience could be on the other side of your venture.Reference Scriptures:Luke 13: 10-17Exodus 20:8-11

Too many times we step out of what God desires for us to do because we put on hats we never were supposed to wear. We start pursuing when we God wanted to keep us hidden so He could bring it to pass. We start sharing when God wanted us to be silent. We start moving when God wanted us to be still. Why? Because we confuse moments of solving and surrender. God gives us the power and free will to both, but He also gives us the wisdom and time with Him to know when one is necessary over the other. My prayer for us is that we don't live life like Saul. If Saul would've waited and been obedient to the timeframe given by the prophet Samuel, his kingdom would've been set. Instead, he was hasty and tried to solve for something God never asked him to. Instead of praying for patience, he moved on what he felt was the best option because he was under attack. Don't let what you see take you out of position for your role. If we're not careful, we'll allow the master of deception (Satan) to allow fear to trump our faith, doubt to disrupt our discernment, and tragedy to triumph over our trust in Him.My prayer for us is that we remember that we have the mind of Christ. Have you ever heard the saying "what you take in is what you'll get out"? While often times that statement is shared in response to our eating habits or our exercise routine, that absolutely applies to our walk with God. Sometimes we're consuming things that aren't listed as sins in the Bible, but consuming them in excess or consuming them in times where we could be in God's presence, could be pulling us away from Him. Our consumption could be a gateway to miss the intimacy that God desires from us.I challenge you this week to ask God what you're doing that could be pulling you away from intimate time with Him. I challenge to be honest with God and honest with yourself without being defensive or making excuses. Our walk with God isn't always easy, but it is rewarding - and most importantly, it's what's right. I pray that nothing gets in the way of you receiving the fullness of what He has for you. I pray that nothing stands in the way of you knowing Him more intimately, more deeply, and more authentically.Reference Scriptures:Galatians 5: 25-26

As we approach a new year, I pray that we don't do it without allowing God to speak to us. Often times, we plan without ever consulting to Him on what He has for us, what He wants to do through us, and how He needs us to be postured in order to walk into it. I pray that we have a posture that mimics Habakkuk's. He sought the Lord, he waited for Him to answer, and then He executed on what He said. He didn't make a move without Him. He didn't preemptively make an announcement before God spoke. He didn't start coordinating before God gave the instruction. He just waited. So before you plan, I pray you have the fortitude and trust in God to wait too. He heard you. Perhaps it's a toxic relationship, a dream that's no longer aligned with your purpose, or a past mistake that continues to haunt you. Letting go can be one of the most challenging Biblical practices, especially when it feels like we're losing a part of ourselves. There's profound wisdom we can duplicate in Ecclesiastes 3:1. While heaven has no end, our time on earth and our experiences within all have a time table. What do you need to stop picking back up year after year? What doors has God closed that you keep reopening? What has expired in your life that's holding you back from fully experiencing all that obedience in God has to offer? I pray you leave that in this year. I pray that you push forward and not live in the regret of what could've been. I pray you trust Him with your story.Reference Scripture:Ecclesiastes 3:1

Forgiveness is hard. Forgiveness, similar to sanctification, requires us to walk it out daily. It requires us to forgive those who hurt us to our core, both intentionally and unintentionally. It requires us to confront moments when we've hurt others and we've fallen short. It also requires us to ask for forgiveness when we don't feel like it and before we ask God to forgive us. As we approach the holiday season, my prayer is that we carry a spirit of forgiveness. That we don't allow the moments and scars that we've carried for months, years, and decades to go with us into the new year. My prayer is that we don't have huge asks of God before we resolve the areas of our heart that don't mirror what we're praying for. Reference Scriptures:Matthew 18: 21-22Matthew 5: 23-24Romans 3:23Luke 23:34

We'll take God not answering our prayers in the timeline we desire as rejection or not being important to Him. The woman who poured her expensive oil on Jesus' head to prepare Him for burial was never named. The Bible never says that she was summoned to use her gift. The Bible never says that she was praised by those who watched, in fact, the disciples were opposed. But she served anyway. And if many of us are honest, there are many moments where we've lost focus without the help of the enemy. We became fearful, we became fatigued and didn't rest, and we became overwhelmed to the point of no return. But not this season. We're going full speed ahead toward what God has for us. As we study Nehemiah, we see that despite the obstacles He knew were ahead, He prayed to God for favor. He quoted the Promises of Moses back to God. He continued to declare the success God promised. He remained focus on serving the people and being obedient without delay. Hey good people! I'm looking forward to seeing what God does in your life as you believe that God can do exactly what He said. I'm praying that this time, when you ask, you ask believing FULLY that He can and will do what you're asking of Him. I'm praying that you would no longer be limited by what you see or what you've experienced, but that you would be restored to childlike faith.Reference Scriptures:James 1:6Isaiah 41:10Matthew 11:28-301 John 5:14-15Philippians 4:192 Thessalonians 3:3

Hey Good People! Have you been tending to your garden? So many times we ask God for increase when we haven't done anything with what He's already given us. God has given us ideas, gifts, talents, opportunities, resources, etc and if we're honest, we've squandered a few. We became self-conscious about what other people would think, nervous to displease God, or just lazy. But in this season, let's do the work to nurture our garden so that we can hear God say "well done my good and faithful servant". Scriptures: Matthew 25:14-30Sermon: Protect Your Edge x Pastor Sarah Jakes Roberts

Hey good people! One of the hardest things to be is consistent. It's easy to start, it's hard to sustain. But the Word of God shows us, through Biblical characters, that the promise and the favor is on the other side of our obedience and consistency.I pray today's episode encourages and challenges you to be consistent in your walk with God and in what He's called you to do. Let us be consistent in our actions, our attitude, our attention, and our appearance. By God's grace, we got this!Scriptures: Daniel 1: 1-15

Hey good people! This prayer is for your patience. Before you decide to move to another podcast episode, I know patience is a really, really hard practice. It's often easier to act than to wait. It's easier to move forward than it is to stay exactly where you are. But there is a blessing in being patient. There's a blessing in waiting on God in the big and the small things.Micah 7:7 gives us a blueprint to follow "As for me, I look to the LORD for help. I wait confidently for God to save me, and my God will certainly hear me." Let's practice patience this week. I know we'll grow in our relationship with Him because of it.

Hey good people! Productivity requires consistency, intentionality, and disciple. This week, my prayer is that you tap in and focus up. This isn't the time to get lazy or become complacent with your God given assignment. If God trusted you with it, it's not the time to become paralyzed with fear so that you don't execute continuously. The enemy wants to stop your progress so that he can ultimately stop your petitions to God. But I'm standing in agreement with you that it's go time! Let's get to work. See you next week!Scriptures: Proverbs 5:5-6

Not for your glory, but for His. Scriptures:2 Corinthians 5:16-17 (NLT): So we have stopped evaluating others from a human point of view. Beloved, the enemy is after your rightful place in the Kingdom of God. He literally comes to steal, kill, and destroy (John 10:10) and he'll do whatever it takes to discourage and make you doubt what God has already promised to you.But this time, we're not letting the devil win. When he tries to attack our minds with thoughts of doubt, our past, even our current situations - we're fighting back with Scripture. Hey Good People! I pray this episode and the Scriptures bless you as you go throughout your week. This episode is vulnerable, I may or may not have cried while praying lol. Many of us struggle to see God as our Father and come to Him because of the fatherly or familial relationships we've had or seen. My prayer is that you take time to pray for God to change your heart and show you who He is. My prayer is that you remember that God is unlike any man you've ever known. He doesn't disappoint, lie, forget, cheat, or abandon. He loves you and He wants to be close to you because He made you.Scriptures:Isaiah 64:7 – “Yet, Lord, you are our father; we are the clay and you our potter: we are all the work of your hand.”Ezekiel 36:26-27 - And I will give you a new heart, and I will put a new spirit in you. I will take out your stony, stubborn heart and give you a tender, responsive heart. And I will put my Spirit in you so that you will follow my decrees and be careful to obey my regulations.
