Ascension of the LordThere can be a temptation to think Jesus' ascension into heaven was his way of distancing himself physically and spiritually from humanity. Instead, Jesus reminds his disciples that he must go otherwise the Paraclete (Holy Spirit) will not come. In this Bible study of Leviticus chapter 9, we see the first tabernacle service. Up until this point, Moses has been conducting all the sacrifices, but now Aaron and his sons will take on the role of tabernacle priests, as outlined at the end of Exodus and fully explained in the first 7 chapters of Leviticus. At the end of the service, we see the Glory of the Lord appear to the people, and we see God consume their offerings with fire from heaven! We conclude this talk camping out on these two subjects, the Glory of the Lord and Fire being used as a sign from God.Outline00:10 - introduction - where we are at in Leviticus02:20 - Reading Leviticus 9.1-603:24 - This is a summary of what is going to happen in the chapter. Forgiveness is hard. Forgiveness, similar to sanctification, requires us to walk it out daily. It requires us to forgive those who hurt us to our core, both intentionally and unintentionally. It requires us to confront moments when we've hurt others and we've fallen short. It also requires us to ask for forgiveness when we don't feel like it and before we ask God to forgive us. As we approach the holiday season, my prayer is that we carry a spirit of forgiveness. That we don't allow the moments and scars that we've carried for months, years, and decades to go with us into the new year. My prayer is that we don't have huge asks of God before we resolve the areas of our heart that don't mirror what we're praying for.
