Ascension of the LordThere can be a temptation to think Jesus' ascension into heaven was his way of distancing himself physically and spiritually from humanity. Instead, Jesus reminds his disciples that he must go otherwise the Paraclete (Holy Spirit) will not come. Our Catholic Christian faith is rooted in the hope of both the Resurrection and the Ascension of the Lord. May the ascended Lord renew us in our quest to soar like eagles.Scripture Readings for June 1, 2025Acts 1:1-11Psalm 47:2-3, 6-9Hebrews 9:24-28; 10:19-23Luke 24:46-53

What do Olympic athletes, exhausted parents, and flawed disciples have in common? Comebacks. In this inspiring Mother's Day message, Pastor Lisa shares the powerful true story of Norwegian skier Simen Hegstad Krüger—who went from a devastating crash at the start of the Olympic race to an unbelievable gold medal victory. His perseverance mirrors the story of Peter, the disciple who failed big, but was lovingly restored by Jesus. This message is for anyone who's ever messed up, felt like a failure, or struggled with perfectionism. Pastor Lisa reminds us that flaws do not disqualify us—God's mercy meets us in our mess. From vomiting toddlers on planes to lost wedding rings, to Peter's heartbreaking denial of Jesus, this sermon is filled with humor, honesty, and biblical truth about how God can turn failure into faithfulness.Whether you're a tired mom, a recovering perfectionist, or just someone in need of a second chance—this message will encourage you to rise, keep going, and trust that Jesus uses the perfectly flawed.Key Scriptures:Lamentations 3:22-23Romans 3:23Luke 22:34, 54–62John 21:11Matthew 16:18Isaiah 26:3For the full gathering of this message which includes worship, visit our Youtube channel. "I want to see..." Luke 18:31-19:10Luke 18:9-14Luke 18:18-23Luke 18:24-2724 Seeing that he became sad, Jesus said, “How hard it is for those who have wealth to enter the kingdom of God! 25 For it is easier for a camel to go through the eye of a needle than for a rich person to enter the kingdom of God.”26 Those who heard this asked, “Then who can be saved?”27 He replied, “What is impossible with man is possible with God.”What is the fundamental orientation of your soul? Luke 18:35-19:1-1035 As he approached Jericho, a blind man was sitting by the road begging. 36 Hearing a crowd passing by, he inquired what was happening. 37 “Jesus of Nazareth is passing by,” they told him.38 So he called out, “Jesus, Son of David, have mercy on me!” 39 Then those in front told him to keep quiet, but he kept crying out all the more, “Son of David, have mercy on me!”40 Jesus stopped and commanded that he be brought to him. When he came closer, he asked him, 41 “What do you want me to do for you?”“Lord,” he said, “I want to see.”42 “Receive your sight,” Jesus told him. “Your faith has saved you.” 43 Instantly he could see, and he began to follow him, glorifying God. All the people, when they saw it, gave praise to God.1 He entered Jericho and was passing through. 2 There was a man named Zacchaeus who was a chief tax collector, and he was rich. 3 He was trying to see who Jesus was, but he was not able because of the crowd, since he was a short man. 4 So running ahead, he climbed up a sycamore tree to see Jesus, since he was about to pass that way. 5 When Jesus came to the place, he looked up and said to him, “Zacchaeus, hurry and come down because today it is necessary for me to stay at your house.”6 So he quickly came down and welcomed him joyfully. 7 All who saw it began to complain, “He's gone to stay with a sinful man.”8 But Zacchaeus stood there and said to the Lord, “Look, I'll give half of my possessions to the poor, Lord. And if I have extorted anything from anyone, I'll pay back four times as much.”9 “Today salvation has come to this house,” Jesus told him, “because he too is a son of Abraham. 10 For the Son of Man has come to seek and to save the lost.”Zacchaeus & the Blind Man• Zacchaeus was 'small in stature.'• "Salvation (soteria) has come to this house..."Acts 28:28 Therefore, let it be known to you that this salvation of God has been sent to the Gentiles; they will listen.”• What does the word 'salvation' mean in Luke's writing?“Today salvation (soteria) has come to this house,...because he too is a son of Abraham. For the Son of Man has come to seek and to save the lost.”“Your faith has saved (sozein) you.”Acts 4:9-129 If we are being examined today about a good deed done to a disabled man, by what means he was healed, 10 let it be known to all of you and to all the people of Israel, that by the name of Jesus Christ of Nazareth, whom you crucified and whom God raised from the dead—by him this man is standing here before you healthy. 11 This Jesus isthe stone rejected by you builders, which has become the cornerstone.12 There is salvation in no one else, for there is no other name under heaven given to people by which we must be saved.”"There is salvation (soteria) in no one else, for there is no other name under heaven given to people by which we must be saved (sozein).”"There is healing (soteria) in no one else, for there is no other name under heaven given to people by which we must be healed (sozein).”
Forgiveness is hard. Forgiveness, similar to sanctification, requires us to walk it out daily. It requires us to forgive those who hurt us to our core, both intentionally and unintentionally. It requires us to confront moments when we've hurt others and we've fallen short. It also requires us to ask for forgiveness when we don't feel like it and before we ask God to forgive us. As we approach the holiday season, my prayer is that we carry a spirit of forgiveness. That we don't allow the moments and scars that we've carried for months, years, and decades to go with us into the new year. My prayer is that we don't have huge asks of God before we resolve the areas of our heart that don't mirror what we're praying for. Amen. Daily Collects:A Collect for PeaceO God, the author of peace and lover of concord, to know you is eternal life and to serve you is perfect freedom: Defend us, your humble servants, in all assaults of our enemies; that we, surely trusting in your defense, may not fear the power of any adversaries, through the might of Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.A Collect for Grace O Lord, our heavenly Father, almighty and everlasting God, you have brought us safely to the beginning of this day: Defend us by your mighty power, that we may not fall into sin nor run into any danger; and that, guided by your Spirit, we may do what is righteous in your sight; through Jesus Christ our Lord. And, we pray, give us such an awareness of your mercies, that with truly thankful hearts we may show forth your praise, not only with our lips, but in our lives, by giving up our selves to your service, and by walking before you in holiness and righteousness all our days; Through Jesus Christ our Lord, to whom, with you and the Holy Spirit, be honor and glory throughout all ages. Amen.
