HERE'S WHY THAT MATTERS: …it answers one of the most important questions people have “If mortals die, can they live again? This thought would give me hope, and through my struggle I would eagerly wait for release.” Job 14:14 NLT IT'S IMPORTANT BECAUSE: …It proves there is life after death “I passed on to you what was most important and what had also been passed on to me-that Christ died for our sins, just as the Scriptures said. He was buried, and He was raised from the dead on the third day, as the Scriptures said. He was seen by Peter and then by the twelve apostles. After that, He was seen by more than five hundred of His followers at one time…” 1 Corinthians 15: 3-6 NLT “For we are not making up clever stories when we told you about the power of our Lord Jesus Christ and His coming again. We have seen His majestic splendor with our own eyes.” 2 Peter 1:16 NLT “But tell me this- since we preach that Christ rose from the dead, why are some of you saying there will be no resurrection of the dead, then Christ has not been raised either. And if Christ was not raised, then all our preaching is useless, and your trust in God is useless…but the fact is that Christ has been raised from the dead.” 1 Corinthians 15:12-14, 20 NLT …it shows what life after death is like “But the fact is that Christ has been raised from the dead. He has become the first of a great harvest of those who will be raised to life again.” 1 Corinthians 15:20 NLT “…and we can't even imagine what we will be like when Christ returns. But we do know that when He comes we will be like Him, for we will see Him as He really is.” 1 John 3:2 NLT “Yes, we are fully confident, and we would rather be away from these bodies, for then we will be at home with the Lord.” 2 Corinthians 5:8 NLT “Don't be surprised! Indeed, the time is coming when all the dead in their graves will hear the voice of God's Son, and they will rise again.” John 5:28-29 NLT “Why are you frightened? He asked. “Why do you doubt who I am? Look at My hands. Look at My feet. You can see that it's really Me. Touch Me and make sure that I am not a ghost, because ghosts don't have bodies, as you see I do!”…Still they stood there doubting, filled with joy and wonder. Then He asked them, “Do you have anything here to eat?” They gave Him a piece of broiled fish, and He ate it as they watched.” Luke 24: 38-40, 41-43 NLT “There are bodies in the heavens, and there are bodies on earth. The glory of the heavenly bodies is different from the beauty of the earthly bodies.” 1 Corinthians 15:40 NLT “When this happens-when our perishable earthly bodies have been transformed into heavenly bodies, that will never die-then at last the Scriptures will come true: ‘Death is swallowed up in victory…'” 1 Corinthians 15:54 NLT “So, my dear brothers and sisters, be strong and steady, always enthusiastic about the Lord's work, for you know that nothing you do for the Lord is ever useless.” 1 Corinthians 15:58 NLT …it shows the price paid for our eternal life “For sin is the sting that results in death, and the law gives sin its power. How we thank God, who gives us the victory over sin and death through Jesus Christ our Lord!” 1 Corinthians 15:56 NLT “But He was wounded and crushed for our sins. He was beaten that we might have peace. He was whipped, and we were healed.” Isaiah 53:5 NLT You can't afford it, but you must receive it. In one sense it doesn't cost us anything to come to Christ…in another sense it costs us everything.

Proverbs 3:5, which encourages us to trust in the Lord with all our hearts and not rely on our own understanding. Kelly Balarie shares her personal journey of prayer and the challenges that arise when we feel overwhelmed or confused during spiritual moments. We discuss the powerful truth that God’s ways surpass our comprehension, emphasizing that His goodness remains unchanged, even when we struggle to understand our circumstances. Kelly reflects on a transformative prayer experience with friends that revealed how often we misattribute our struggles to God, instead of recognizing the enemy's schemes. Through the story of Job, we learn that God allows trials not as punishment but as opportunities for growth and strength. In every situation, God’s plans are ultimately for our good. What is the world's definition of beauty? How often have we squeezed, strived, and starved ourselves in order to meet its impossible standards, only to feel we're never enough? Today's podcast is Part 1 of a two-part series on Dreaming with God, where Stasi shares God's invitation to see ourselves through His eyes—to trade striving for rest, shame for grace, and the enemy's lies for God's Truth. God not only calls us beautiful (SoS 1:15), but He also invites us to walk in union with Him, partnering with Him in the joy of becoming who He has created us to be and offering what He has uniquely planted in our hearts.…..SHOW NOTES:…..VERSES: Song of Songs 4:1 (NLT) – You are beautiful, my darling, beautiful beyond words. And the Lord – who is the Spirit – makes us more and more like him as we are changed into his glorious image.John 15:5 (NLT) – Yes, I am the vine; you are the branches. Those who remain in me, and I in them, will produce much fruit. The old saying goes: “We can't take anyone any farther than we are.” I can't teach you things that I don't know. I can tell you, but I can't teach you. So, that is a challenge for us that if we want our kids to grow deep in Christ, we will have to go deep first.Listen to Psalm 25:4-10 …Show me the right path, O Lord; point out the road for me to follow. Lead me by your truth and teach me, for you are the God who saves me. All day long I put my hope in you. Remember, O Lord, your compassion and unfailing love, which you have shown from long ages past. Do not remember the rebellious sins of my youth. Remember me in the light of your unfailing love, for you are merciful, O Lord. The Lord is good and does what is right; he shows the proper path to those who go astray. He leads the humble in doing right, teaching them his way. The Lord leads with unfailing love and faithfulness all who keep his covenant and obey his demands. (NLT) So much of the Psalms we can pray as our own prayers. Imagine praying these words. Doing what these verses say. Imagine our kids seeing us do these things and choosing to follow.Listen to The Message in these same verses … Show me how you work, God; School me in your ways. Take me by the hand; Lead me down the path of truth. You are my Savior, aren't you? Mark the milestones of your mercy and love, God; Rebuild the ancient landmarks! Forget that I sowed wild oats; Mark me with your sign of love. Plan only the best for me, God! God is fair and just; He corrects the misdirected, Sends them in the right direction. He gives the rejects his hand, And leads them step-by-step. From now on every road you travel Will take you to God. Follow the Covenant signs; Read the charted directions. The scripture says - Show me how you work, God; School me in your ways. Take me by the hand; Lead me down the path of truth.Let me ask you, How teachable are you right now? So often we get stuck in the way we have always done something that we fail to see new possibilities. Can you ask God right now to show you areas that you may need to be schooled in His ways? And ask him to take you by your hand and lead you down the path of truth, open your eyes to His way of seeing things?Let's pray together: “Heavenly Father, show me how you work. School me in your ways. Take me by the hand. Lead me down the path of truth. You are my Savior. As above, so below.”

Today, as we close out our focus on the illusion of control and the reality of God being in control, especially in the area of our parenting and connected relationships, a fair question for us to ask is this: “Okay, God, if You are in control, when will you take total control? Like take away all our false ideas and futile attempts to be in control for ourselves?”Listen once again to Paul, this time in Philippians 3:20-21 … But we are citizens of heaven, where the Lord Jesus Christ lives. And we are eagerly waiting for him to return as our Savior. He will take our weak mortal bodies and change them into glorious bodies like his own, using the same power with which he will bring everything under his control. (NLT) So we live in a time when God offers His control of our lives as a choice. One option among thousands. But when we choose Him, two things become a reality. First, we live on the earth, but our citizenship changes to Heaven. And second, we live for the day when the choices end and He takes everything over. Whether we die first or He comes back, we will witness Him “bringing everything under His control.” Meanwhile, today, right now, no matter how tough life gets, no matter how unfair life may seem, we can choose Him, choose His power, choose Heaven.Listen to today's passage in the Message Bible … But there's far more to life for us. We're citizens of high heaven! We're waiting the arrival of the Savior, the Master, Jesus Christ, who will transform our earthy bodies into glorious bodies like his own. He'll make us beautiful and whole with the same powerful skill by which he is putting everything as it should be, under and around him. This week, how did your view of personal control change? How did your view of God being in control change? And, as always, the biggest question for any of us, what do you need to give up and give God for your best and your kids best?Let's pray together: “Heavenly Father, thank You for the hope and the promise, whether here or in Heaven, that the best is always yet to come. Please help me to remember that truth when everything seems to go wrong and I want to give up. Just help me to give it to You. As above, so below.”

One of the most telling and incredible passages in the New Testament is where Jesus talks about the difference in those who follow Him and those who don't, and how you can tell them apart here on earth. What is also fascinating here is the things He cares about the most in what we do with our lives.“But when the Son of Man comes in his glory, and all the angels with him, then he will sit upon his glorious throne. All the nations will be gathered in his presence, and he will separate the people as a shepherd separates the sheep from the goats. He will place the sheep at his right hand and the goats at his left. “Then the King will say to those on his right, ‘Come, you who are blessed by my Father, inherit the Kingdom prepared for you from the creation of the world. For I was hungry, and you fed me. I was thirsty, and you gave me a drink. I was a stranger, and you invited me into your home. I was naked, and you gave me clothing. I was sick, and you cared for me. I was in prison, and you visited me.' “Then these righteous ones will reply, ‘Lord, when did we ever see you hungry and feed you? Or thirsty and give you something to drink? Or a stranger and show you hospitality? Or naked and give you clothing? When did we ever see you sick or in prison and visit you?' “And the King will say, ‘I tell you the truth, when you did it to one of the least of these my brothers and sisters, you were doing it to me!' (Matthew 25:31-40 NLT) So what does it appear God cares a lot about? Did you catch it? Feeding the hungry. Providing for those who have no water or no clean water. The homeless. The naked. The poor. The sick. Those in prison. Why do you think the righteous responded by asking Jesus…..”when did we see you among those we ministered to”? … Notice they knew they did those things, they were just asking Jesus where He was? What if once a week, you found some way for you and your kids to do just one of these things? It doesn't have to take a lot of money … it can just take a little time and energy. Maybe sponsor a child with one of the many aid and education organizations and let your kids write a letter to the child? Let them choose the country and the child. Or you could take a few canned goods to a local food pantry and ask for a tour of what they do? Write a letter to an inmate in prison through one of the many great prison ministry organizations? And remember and remind your kids—when you do it for someone like this, you are actually doing it for Jesus. He said so.Let's pray together: “Heavenly Father, I confess I get overwhelmed with the problems of the world and end up doing nothing. Help me to take this passage and focus on just one simple act to get started on what your sheep do.  I certainly know what it looks like to be over looked and ignored, so let's help those who live that way every day.  As above so below.”

Favour is mine in all things. This is my set time for God's favour. God is doing for me what my natural abilities and connections could not do. I am blessed and highly favoured of God in Jesus' Name!'

Psalm 97:9 You who love the Lord, hate evil! He protects the lives of his godly people and rescues them from the power of the wicked.(NLT) So what does God hate and tell us to hate? … He says if you love Him then you will hate evil. So is evil a person? … No. Evil is the outcome of disobedience. Disobedience to God is sin, which creates evil. So, we are to hate disobedience to God and its results. Can you picture an outcome of your disobedience to God?  While there most certainly is grace for our disobedience, can you attach a sense of hatred for the outcome of that disobedience you have encountered? We are not to hate ourselves for the disobedience, but the forces that oppose God inside our own hearts and in the world today. So, what good does it do to hate that evil? The answer is a response of avoidance, of abstinence … of evil. Today, I'm going to provide some current context to hating evil by reading Ephesians 6:1…  Be strong in the Lord and in his mighty power. Put on all of God's armor so that you will be able to stand firm against all strategies of the devil. For we are not fighting against flesh-and-blood enemies, but against evil rulers and authorities of the unseen world, against mighty powers in this dark world, and against evil spirits in the heavenly places. Therefore, put on every piece of God's armor so you will be able to resist the enemy in the time of evil. Then after the battle you will still be standing firm. Who are we not fighting? Flesh and blood. Each other. We may do evil things out of disobedience, but we are not evil.  Evil exists, evil is the destruction that comes from sin. We have an enemy, God has an enemy, Satan and his spirits. A force that exists in this fallen world that leads us to disobedience which leads to our destruction. So, how do we guard ourselves from this destruction? By hating the destruction the enemy wants for us and by putting on the full armor of God. We cannot fight an unseen power with our own ‘seen' efforts. God's Power, His spirit enables us to resist the enemy.  Psalm 97:9-11 … You who love the Lord, hate evil! He protects the lives of his godly people and rescues them from the power of the wicked.  Love God. Hate Evil. Really feel the hate that disobedience to God's ways brings to your life. Claim God's power as your own to protect again the evil our enemy has planned for us. Let's pray together: “Heavenly Father, forgive me when I show love for evil by cooperating with it. But help me to hate that which opposes You, even the sin in me. Teach me to love You more, and help me to show love that can conquer hate. As above, so below.”

Christmas at Bay Chapel Pt. 2 | December 8, 2024Pastor Wes Morris Philippians 4:4-9 (NIV) Rejoice in the Lord always. I will say it again: Rejoice! Let your gentleness be evident to all. The Lord is near. Do not be anxious about anything, but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. And don't give reluctantly or in response to pressure. “For God loves a person who gives cheerfully.”Matthew 6:21 (NLT) Wherever your treasure is, there the desires of your heart will also be. √ Giving is what we do.     Generous is who we are.II Corinthians 8:1-2 (NLT) Now I want you to know, dear brothers and sisters, what God in his kindness has done through the churches in Macedonia. November 10, 2024 FEELS LIKE HOME pt 2 The Power of Service Jesus said, “For even I, the Son the of Man, came here not to be served, but to serve others, and to give My life as a ransom for many.”  Matthew 20:28 NLT Christian: Those who are like Christ.  “Before the Passover celebration, Jesus…now showed the disciples the full extent of His love…the Father had given Him authority over everything…So, He got up from the table, took off His robe, wrapped a towel around His waist, and poured water into a basin. Then He began to wash the disciple's feet and to wipe them with the towel He had around Him… (He asked )'Since I, the Lord and Teacher, have washed your feet, you ought to wash each other's feet.  I have given you an example to follow…You know these things-now do them! That is the path of blessing.” John 13:1-17 NLT “Your attitude should be the same that Christ Jesus had.  Though He was God, He did not demand and cling to His rights as God.  He made Himself nothing; He took the humble position of a slave and appeared in human form.  And in human form He obediently humbled Himself even further by dying a criminal's death on a cross.  Because of this, God raised Him up to the heights of heaven and gave Him a name that is above every other name, so that at the name of Jesus every knee will bow, in heaven and on earth and under the earth, and every tongue will confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father.” Philippians 2:5-11 NLT WHY SERVE OTHERS HUMBLY: 1. God hates pride “God sets Himself against the proud, but He shows favor to the humble.”  James 4:6 NLT 2. There is no real basis for pride “You will remember your sins and cover your mouth in silence and shame when I forgive you of all that you have done, says the Sovereign Lord.”   Ezekiel 16:63 NLT “So humble yourselves under the mighty hand of God…” 1 Peter 5:6 NLT 3. Humility is the Example of Christ We don't ASCEND UP to greatness, we DESCEND, down to greatness.  4. Humility is necessary to be joyful “Be humble, thinking of others as better than yourself.” Philippians 2:3 NLT 5. Humble service is multiplied “There are different kinds of service in the church, but it is the same Lord we are serving.  There are different ways God works in our lives, but it is the same God who does the work through us.  A spiritual gift is given to each of us as a means of helping the entire church.” 1 Corinthians 12:5-7 NLT TWO WAYS TO GET IN THE GAME: Do What You Love for the God You Love Dive in and swim around to find your sweet spot

I will free you from being slaves to them, and I will redeem you with an outstretched arm and with mighty acts of judgment. I will take you as my own people, and I will be your God. Then you will know that I am the LORD your God, who brought you out from under the yoke of the Egyptians. The Cup of Sanctification – Salvation. The Cup of Deliverance – Freedom. The Cup of Redemption – Restoration. The Cup of Praise – Fulfillment. How do you get the Egypt out of you? Ephesians 2:8-9 (NLT)  //  God saved you by his grace when you believed. And you can't take credit for this; it is a gift from God. Salvation is not a reward for the good things we have done, so none of us can boast about it. Philippians 2:12-13 (NLT)  //  Work hard to show the results of your salvation, obeying God with deep reverence and fear. For God is working in you, giving you the desire and the power to do what pleases him. The world would love you as one of its own if you belonged to it, but you are no longer part of the world. I chose you to come out of the world, so it hates you. John 15:19 NLT   He died for everyone so that those who receive his new life will no longer live for themselves. Instead, they will live for Christ, who died and was raised for them. 2 Corinthians 5:15 NLT   'Don't be misled—you cannot mock the justice of God. You will always harvest what you plant. Those who live only to satisfy their own sinful nature will harvest decay and death from that sinful nature. But those who live to please the Spirit will harvest everlasting life from the Spirit. So let's not get tired of doing what is good. At just the right time we will reap a harvest of blessing if we don't give up. Therefore, whenever we have the opportunity, we should do good to everyone—especially to those in the family of faith. Galatians 6:7-10 NLT   Bless those who persecute you. Don't curse them; pray that God will bless them. Be happy with those who are happy, and weep with those who weep. Live in harmony with each other. Don't be too proud to enjoy the company of ordinary people. And don't think you know it all! Never pay back evil with more evil. Do things in such a way that everyone can see you are honorable. Do all that you can to live in peace with everyone. Dear friends, never take revenge. Leave that to the righteous anger of God. For the Scriptures say, “I will take revenge; I will pay them back,” says the Lord. Instead, “If your enemies are hungry, feed them. If they are thirsty, give them something to drink. In doing this, you will heap burning coals of shame on their heads.” Don't let evil conquer you, but conquer evil by doing good. Romans 12:14-21 NLT   DO YOU WANT JUSTICE OR FREEDOM? DO YOU WANT VENGEANCE OR PEACE?    Never pay back evil with more evil. Do things in such a way that everyone can see you are honorable. Romans 12:17 NLT   Watch out that no poisonous root of bitterness grows up to trouble you, corrupting many. Hebrews 12:15 NLT     for I can see that you are full of bitter jealousy and are held captive by sin. Acts 8:23 NLT   Get rid of all bitterness, rage, anger, harsh words, and slander, as well as all types of evil behavior. Instead, be kind to each other, tenderhearted, forgiving one another, just as God through Christ has forgiven you. Imitate God, therefore, in everything you do, because you are his dear children. Live a life filled with love, following the example of Christ. He loved us and offered himself as a sacrifice for us, a pleasing aroma to God. Ephesians 4:31-32; 5:1-2 NLT   YOUR GREATEST FREEDOM IS WHEN YOU UNDERSTAND YOU DON'T NEED GOD TO CHANGE YOUR CIRCUMSTANCES. YOU NEED GOD TO USE YOUR CIRCUMSTANCES TO CHANGE YOU FOR THE BETTER.    In my distress I prayed to the Lord, and the Lord answered me and set me free. The Lord is for me, so I will have no fear. What can mere people do to me? Psalms 118:5-6 NLT   3 QUESTIONS TO KEEP ME ACCOUNTABLE TO MY COMMITMENT AS A DISCIPLE   1. ARE MY CHOICES LEADING ME TOWARD COMPROMISE?   You say, “I am allowed to do anything”—but not everything is good for you. And even though “I am allowed to do anything,” I must not become a slave to anything. 1 Corinthians 6:12 NLT   WE BECOME MORE SUSCEPTIBLE TO COMPROMISE WHEN WE HAVE NEGATIVE REFLECTIONS OR UNHEALTHY ASSUMPTIONS.    'But Jesus told him, “Anyone who puts a hand to the plow and then looks back is not fit for the Kingdom of God.” Luke 9:62 NLT   So don't worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will bring its own worries. Today's trouble is enough for today. Matthew 6:34 NLT   2. ARE MY ACTIONS REPRESENTING HEAVEN?   Seek the Kingdom of God above all else, and live righteously, and he will give you everything you need. Matthew 6:33 NLT   PRAYERFULLY ASK YOURSELF DAILY, “HOW WOULD JESUS RESPOND” AND THEN OBEY THAT.   Blessed are the peacemakers, for they will be called children of God. Matthew 5:9 NIV   Makarios: Joy which has its secret within itself, that joy which is serene and untouchable, and self-contained that joy which is completely independent of all the chances and changes of life.   AS GOD'S CHILDREN WE ARE CALLED TO STRIVE FOR PEACE AS WE… LOVE OUR ENEMIES But I say, love your enemies! Matthew 5:44 NLT PRAY FOR OUR ENEMIES Pray for those who persecute you! Matthew 5:44 NLT pray that God will bless them. Romans 12:14 NLT BLESS OUR ENEMIES Bless those who persecute you. Don't curse them. Romans 12:14 NLT BE THE BIGGER PERSON Do all that you can to live in peace with everyone; Instead, “If your enemies are hungry, feed them. If they are thirsty, give them something to drink. In doing this, you will heap burning coals of shame on their heads.” Romans 12:18;20 NLT 3. AM I CLOSED OFF TO THE NATURE AND HOLINESS OF GOD?   Don't you realize that your body is the temple of the Holy Spirit, who lives in you and was given to you by God? You do not belong to yourself, for God bought you with a high price. So you must honor God with your body. 1 Corinthians 6:19-20 NLT   My purpose is to give them a rich and satisfying life. John 10:10 NLT     Then Jesus said to his disciples, “If any of you wants to be my follower, you must give up your own way, take up your cross, and follow me. If you try to hang on to your life, you will lose it. But if you give up your life for my sake, you will save it. And what do you benefit if you gain the whole world but lose your own soul? Is anything worth more than your soul? Matthew 16:24-26 NLT

In today's episode of Captivated, Stasi shares from a Women at the Well teaching about cultivating a deep relationship with God through consistent prayer and worship, so that in moments of need, our faith is strengthened by this connection with him. By aligning our thoughts with Christ and surrendering to his process, he transforms us from the inside out into Christ's likeness. Stasi encourages us to lay our lives before God daily, arranging our days so we experience deep contentment, joy, and confidence in his faithful love.…..SHOW NOTES:…..VERSES: 2 Corinthians 3:18 (NLT) — So all of us who have had that veil removed can see and reflect the glory of the Lord. And the Lord – who is the Spirit – makes us more and more like him as we are changed into his glorious image.Genesis 1:28 (NIV) — God blessed them and said to them, “Be fruitful and increase in number; fill the earth and subdue it. Rule over the fish in the sea and the birds in the sky and over every living creature that moves on the ground.”Proverbs 23:7 (KJV) —  For as he thinketh in his heart, so is he: Eat and drink, saith he to thee; but his heart is not with thee.Matthew 17:1-7 (NLT) — (here, verses 1–3) After six days Jesus took with him Peter, James and John the brother of James, and led them up a high mountain by themselves. There he was transfigured before them. His face shone like the sun, and his clothes became as white as the light. Just then there appeared before them Moses and Elijah, talking with Jesus.Romans 12:1-2 (NIV) — Therefore, I urge you, brothers and sisters, in view of God's mercy, to offer your bodies as a living sacrifice, holy and pleasing to God – this is your true and proper worship. Do not conform to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind. Then you will be able to test and approve what God's will is – his good, pleasing and perfect will.Romans 12:1-2 (The Message) — …Instead, fix your attention on God. THE NEED FOR CONTROL IS THE CAUSE OF EVERY PROBLEM   Faith shows the reality of what we hope for; it is the evidence of things we cannot see. Hebrews 11:1 NLT   Trust in the Lord with all your heart; do not depend on your own understanding. Seek his will in all you do, and he will show you which path to take. Proverbs 3:5-6 NLT   For God has not given us a spirit of fear and timidity, but of power, love, and self-discipline. 2 Timothy 1:7 NLT   'Because of the privilege and authority God has given me, I give each of you this warning: Don't think you are better than you really are. Be honest in your evaluation of yourselves, measuring yourselves by the faith God has given us. Romans 12:3 NLT   HEALTH IS NOT STUMBLED UPON IT IS PURSUED AND IGNORING PROBLEMS WILL NEVER LEAD TO HEALTH.    THE PREREQUISITE TO TRUE FREEDOM IS TO DECIDE THAT YOU DON'T WANT TO SUFFER ANYMORE   YOU HAVE TWO FOUNDATIONAL CHOICES.  ONE CHOICE IS TO LEAVE THE PAIN INSIDE AND CONTINUE TO STRUGGLE WITH THE OUTSIDE.  THE OTHER CHOICE IS TO MAKE THE DECISION YOU DON'T WANT TO SPEND YOUR ENTIRE LIFE AVOIDING THE INNER PAIN AND YOU'D RATHER GET RID OF IT.    WHEN YOU AVOID PAIN AND CHANGE YOU BELIEVE EXTERNAL SITUATIONS ARE WHAT CAUSE INTERNAL PROBLEMS.   I have told you all this so that you may have peace in me. Here on earth you will have many trials and sorrows. But take heart, because I have overcome the world. John 16:33 NLT   OUR NEED FOR CONTROL AND THE FEAR THAT IT PRODUCES BLOCK OUR HEARTS.   Seek the Kingdom of God above all else, and live righteously, and he will give you everything you need. So don't worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will bring its own worries. Today's trouble is enough for today. Matthew 6:33-34 NLT   UNSHAKABLE CONFIDENCE IS ROOTED IN A GODLY IDENTITY.    And a voice from heaven said, “This is my Son, whom I love; with him I am well pleased.” Matthew 3:17 NIV   Keep on asking, and you will receive what you ask for. Keep on seeking, and you will find. Keep on knocking, and the door will be opened to you. For everyone who asks, receives. Everyone who seeks, finds. And to everyone who knocks, the door will be opened. You parents—if your children ask for a loaf of bread, do you give them a stone instead? Or if they ask for a fish, do you give them a snake? Of course not! So if you sinful people know how to give good gifts to your children, how much more will your heavenly Father give good gifts to those who ask him. Matthew 7:7-11 NLT   YOU ARE DEEPLY AND COMPLETELY LOVED.        HOW DO YOU REMOVE THE THORNS?   1. DEAL WITH PAIN IMMEDIATELY   When I refused to confess my sin, my body wasted away, and I groaned all day long. Psalms 32:3 NLT   2. RELEASE YOUR PAIN AND SURRENDER TO GOD   Give your burdens to the Lord, and he will take care of you. He will not permit the godly to slip and fall. Psalms 55:22 NLT   So humble yourselves under the mighty power of God, and at the right time he will lift you up in honor. Give all your worries and cares to God, for he cares about you. 1 Peter 5:6-7 NLT   Then Jesus said, “Come to me, all of you who are weary and carry heavy burdens, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you. Let me teach you, because I am humble and gentle at heart, and you will find rest for your souls. Matthew 11:28-29 NLT   3. DECIDE YOUR GOD-GIVE IDENTITY AND WHAT YOU NEED TO DO TO PURSUE THAT    Be honest in your evaluation of yourselves, measuring yourselves by the faith God has given us. Romans 12:3 NLT   WHAT DO YOU WANT?             ➡️ WHAT IS GETTING IN THE WAY?   ⬇️   WHAT IS GETTING IN THE WAY?           ⬅️ WHAT DO YOU REALLY WANT?   ⬇️   WHAT DO YOU REALLY WANT? ➡️           WHAT ARE YOU WILLING TO COMMIT TO DO?     They stumble because they do not obey God's word, and so they meet the fate that was planned for them. But you are not like that, for you are a chosen people. You are royal priests, a holy nation, God's very own possession. As a result, you can show others the goodness of God, for he called you out of the darkness into his wonderful light. “Once you had no identity as a people; now you are God's people. Once you received no mercy; now you have received God's mercy.” 1 Peter 2:8-10 NLT

Stasi is thrilled to welcome author, teacher, and speaker Judy Dunagan to discuss her book, The Loudest Roar. Judy shares her personal journey of faith, recalling how her loving upbringing in a Christian home influenced her to grow to know Jesus as her best friend from a young age. Judy teaches believers to stand firm against spiritual warfare through Scripture and prayer by taking ownership of their authority in Christ. She offers powerful insights and practical ways to deepen one's prayer life, including praying Scripture and engaging in lamentation as an act of worship. Friends, Jesus' unshakable victory is our strength, and it is in trusting his triumph that we find our refuge. The enemy roars, but our fierce King's roar is louder! He is mighty, and we are mighty and powerful in him.…..SHOW NOTES:…..VERSES: Revelation 12:9 (NLT) — This great dragon—the ancient serpent called the devil, or Satan, the one deceiving the whole world—was thrown down to the earth with all his angels.1 Peter 3:22 (NIV) — who has gone into heaven and is at God's right hand—with angels, authorities and powers in submission to him.Ephesians 2:6 (NIV) — And God raised us up with Christ and seated us with him in the heavenly realms in Christ Jesus,Romans 8:22 (NLT) — For we know that all creation has been groaning as in the pains of childbirth right up to the present time.1 Peter 5:8 (NLT) — Stay alert! Watch out for your great enemy, the devil. He prowls around like a roaring lion, looking for someone to devour. Ephesians 6:10-18 (NIV) — Finally, be strong in the Lord and in his mighty power. Put on the full armor of God, so that you can take your stand against the devil's schemes. For our struggle is not against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the authorities, against the powers of this dark world and against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly realms. Therefore put on the full armor of God, so that when the day of evil comes, you may be able to stand your ground, and after you have done everything, to stand. Stand firm then, with the belt of truth buckled around your waist, with the breastplate of righteousness in place, and with your feet fitted with the readiness that comes from the gospel of peace. In addition to all this, take up the shield of faith, with which you can extinguish all the flaming arrows of the evil one. Take the helmet of salvation and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God. And pray in the Spirit on all occasions with all kinds of prayers and requests. With this in mind, be alert and always keep on praying for all the Lord's people.Psalm 91:4 (NIV) — He will cover you with his feathers, and under his wings you will find refuge; his faithfulness will be your shield and rampart.John 17 — In its entirety; Jesus PraysHebrews 4:16 (NLT) —  So let us come boldly to the throne of our gracious God. Today, Stasi invites us to journey with her as she unpacks one of her favorite psalms, Psalm 103, which reminds us of all the ways God has moved in our lives and continues to do so. This beautiful psalm instructs our souls to praise the Lord by reminding us of the splendor, majesty, and goodness of God. Turning our hearts' attention to our holy God naturally evokes worship from our inmost being. Stasi concludes with a guided time together, focusing on quieting our souls to praise God for the abundant blessings and love he showers upon us.…..SHOW NOTES:…..VERSES: Psalm 103 — In its entiretyExodus 3:14 (NLT)  — God replied to Moses, “I am who I am. Say this to the people of Israel: I am has sent me to you.”Proverbs 11:30 (NLT)  — The seeds of good deeds become a tree of life; a wise person wins friends.Psalm 16:9-10 (NLT)  — No wonder my heart is glad, and I rejoice. My body rests in safety. For you will not leave my soul among the dead or allow your holy one to rot in the grave.Ezekiel 18:4 (ASV)  — Behold, all souls are mine; as the soul of the father, so also the soul of the son is mine: the soul that sinneth, it shall die.Acts 2:41 (NLT)  — Those who believed what Peter said were baptized and added to the church that day—about 3,000 in all.Revelation 18:13 (ASV)  — and cinnamon, and spice, and incense, and ointment, and frankincense, and wine, and oil, and fine flour, and wheat, and cattle, and sheep; and merchandise of horses and chariots and slaves; and souls of men.Jeremiah 38:16 (NIV)  — But King Zedekiah swore this oath secretly to Jeremiah: “As surely as the Lord lives, who has given us breath, I will neither kill you nor hand you over to those who want to kill you.”2 Peter 2:14 (ASV)  — having eyes full of adultery, and that cannot cease from sin; enticing unstedfast souls; having a heart exercised in covetousness; children of cursing;James 1:21 (NLT)  — So get rid of all the filth and evil in your lives, and humbly accept the word God has planted in your hearts, for it has the power to save your souls.Leviticus 17:11 (NLT)  — for the life of the body is in its blood. I have given you the blood on the altar to purify you, making you right with the Lord. It is the blood, given in exchange for a life, that makes purification possible.1 Peter 1:22 (NLT)  — You were cleansed from your sins when you obeyed the truth, so now you must show sincere love to each other as brothers and sisters. Love each other deeply with all your heart.1 Peter 2:25 (NLT)  — Once you were like sheep who wandered away. But now you have turned to your Shepherd, the Guardian of your souls.Matthew 11:29 (NLT)  — Take my yoke upon you. Let me teach you, because I am humble and gentle at heart, and you will find rest for your souls.Acts 13:35–37 (NLT)  — Another psalm explains it more fully: ‘You will not allow your Holy One to rot in the grave.' This is not a reference to David, for after David had done the will of God in his own generation, he died and was buried with his ancestors, and his body decayed. No, it was a reference to someone else—someone whom God raised and whose body did not decay.Hebrews 4:12 (NLT)  — For the word of God is alive and powerful. It is sharper than the sharpest two-edged sword, cutting between soul and spirit, between joint and marrow. It exposes our innermost thoughts and desires.John 14:1 (NLT)  — Don't let your hearts be troubled. Trust in God, and trust also in me.1 Corinthians 2:16 (NLT)  — For, “Who can know the Lord's thoughts? Who knows enough to teach him?” But we understand these things, for we have the mind of Christ.Colossians 3:2 (NLT)  — Think about the things of heaven, not the things of earth.Philippians 4:8 (NLT)  — And now, dear brothers and sisters, one final thing. Fix your thoughts on what is true, and honorable, and right, and pure, and lovely, and admirable. Think about things that are excellent and worthy of praise.Romans 8:11 (NLT)  — The Spirit of God, who raised Jesus from the dead, lives in you. And just as God raised Christ Jesus from the dead, he will give life to your mortal bodies by this same Spirit living within you.Leviticus 26:11-12 (KJV)  — And I set my tabernacle among you: and my soul shall not abhor you. And I will walk among you, and will be your God, and ye shall be my people.Proverbs 9:10 (NLT)  — Fear of the Lord is the foundation of wisdom.1 John 4:18 (NLT)  — Such love has no fear, because perfect love expels all fear. If we are afraid, it is for fear of punishment, and this shows that we have not fully experienced his perfect love.…..RESOURCES:The Treasury of David – Psalm 103 by Charles H. Pastor John Keating Genesis 1:1-2 (NLT) - In the beginning, God created the heavens and the earth. The earth was without form, and void; and darkness was on the face of the deep. And the Spirit of God was hovering over the face of the waters. Psalm 33:6 (NLT) - By the word of the Lord the heavens were made, and all the host of them by the breath [Spirit] of His mouth." Israelites freed from slavery: Exodus 14:21 (NLT) - God Blew over the waters of the Red Sea, leading Israel out of the old world of bondage and into their new blessed life. Mary with child: Luke 1:35 (NLT) - The Holy Spirit will come upon you, and the power of the Highest will overshadow you. Jesus' Baptism: John 1:32 (NLT) - Then John testified, "I saw the Holy Spirit descending like a dove from heaven and resting upon him." Pentecost: Acts 2:1-4 (NLT) - When the day of Pentecost came, they were all together in one place. Suddenly a sound like the blowing of a violent wind came from heaven and filled the whole house where they were sitting. They saw what seemed to be tongues of fire that separated and came to rest on each of them. All of them were filled with the Holy Spirit and began to speak in other tongues as the Spirit enabled them. The Holy Spirit is God's agent of creation and new creation. Romans 8:9 (NLT) - You, however, are not in the realm of the flesh but are in the realm of the Spirit, if indeed the Spirit of God lives in you. And if anyone does not have the Spirit of Christ, they do not belong to Christ. Romans 8:14 (NLT) - For those who are led by the Spirit of God are the children of God. 2 Corinthians 5:16-17 (NLT) - So we have stopped evaluating others from a human point of view. At one time we thought of Christ merely from a human point of view. How differently we know Him now! This means that anyone who belongs to Christ has become a new person. The old life is gone; a new life has begun!

His invitation is to come close, pay attention to the gift of our emotions, and share with him our hearts in their fullness.…..SHOW NOTES:…..VERSES: Romans 5:1 (NLT) — Therefore, since we have been made right in God's sight by faith, we have peace with God because of what Jesus Christ our Lord has done for us.Psalm 16:9 (NIV) — Therefore my heart is glad and my tongue rejoices; my body also will rest secure,Romans 15:3 (NLT) —  I pray that God, the source of hope, will fill you completely with joy and peace because you trust in him. ACCEPTING YOUR STATUS AS A CHILD OF GOD “When he finally came to his senses, he said to himself, ‘At home even the hired servants have food enough to spare, and here I am dying of hunger! I will go home to my father and say, ‘Father, I have sinned against both heaven and you, and I am no longer worthy of being called your son. Please take me on as a hired servant.' So he returned home to his father. And while he was still a long way off, his father saw him coming. Filled with compassion, he ran to his son, embraced him, and kissed him. His son said to him, ‘Father, I have sinned against both heaven and you, and I am no longer worthy of being called your son.' But his father said to the servants, ‘Quick! Bring the finest robe in the house and put it on him. Get a ring for his finger and sandals for his feet. And kill the fatted calf we have been fattening. We must celebrate with a feast, for this son of mine was dead and has now returned to life. He was lost, but now he is found.' So the party began.” Luke 15:17-24 Life with the Father is Better than Life Without the Father. How Do YOU Learn to Truly and Confidently believe that YOU are a child of God? Choose to FULLY Believe God's Acceptance and My Identity We are stuck in faulty thinking about God and we are trapped in self-condemnation. “The thief's purpose is to steal and kill and destroy. MY purpose is to give them a rich and satisfying life.” John 10:10 NLT “So now there is no condemnation for those who belong to Christ Jesus.” Romans 8:1 NLT See your enemy's strategy? Try to kill you. If that doesn't work, try to keep you far from God, in your sin, wallowing in your stuff AND if that doesn't work, he will AT LEAST try to keep you from believing that you are fully a son, fully a daughter who is forgiven and accepted by God. “And may you have the power to understand, as all God's people should, how wide, how long, how high, and how deep His love is. May you experience the love of Christ though it is too great to understand fully. Then you will be made complete with all the fullness of life and power that comes from God.” Ephesians 3:18-19 NLT “Now listen! Today I am giving you a choice between life and death, between prosperity and disaster….oh that you would choose life…You can make this choice by loving the Lord your God, obeying Him, and committing yourself firmly to Him. This is the key to your life…” Deuteronomy 30:11, 19, 20 Surrender to God's Changes The prodigal trusted the father to change his clothes…and then he learned to trust His father to change his life.

All eyes in the synagogue looked at him intently. Then he began to speak to them. “The Scripture you've just heard has been fulfilled this very day!” Luke 4:18-21 NLT   For everyone has sinned; we all fall short of God's glorious standard. Romans 3:23 NLT   'But God showed his great love for us by sending Christ to die for us while we were still sinners. Romans 5:8 NLT   The Spirit of the Lord is upon me, for he has anointed me to bring Good News… Luke 4:18 NLT   For this is how God loved the world: He gave his one and only Son, so that everyone who believes in him will not perish but have eternal life. It has all been done before. Nothing under the sun is truly new. Ecclesiastes 1:8-9 NLT   When all the people were being baptized, Jesus was baptized too. And as he was praying, heaven was opened and the Holy Spirit descended on him in bodily form like a dove. And a voice came from heaven: “You are my Son, whom I love; with you I am well pleased. Luke 3:21-22 NIV   IDENTITY - YOU ARE MY SON AFFECTION - WHOM I LOVE AFFIRMATION - WITH YOU I AM WELL PLEASED the oppressed will be set free… Luke 4:18 NLT   God sent him to buy freedom for us who were slaves to the law, so that he could adopt us as his very own children. And because we are his children, God has sent the Spirit of his Son into our hearts, prompting us to call out, “Abba, Father.” Now you are no longer a slave but God's own child. And since you are his child, God has made you his heir. Galatians 4:5-7 NLT   So if the Son sets you free, you are truly free. John 8:36 NLT   and that the time of the Lord's favor has come. The old saying goes: “We can't take anyone any farther than we are.” I can't teach you things that I don't know. I can tell you, but I can't teach you. So, that is a challenge for us that if we want our kids to grow deep in Christ, we will have to go deep first. Listen to Psalm 25:4-10 … Show me the right path, O Lord; point out the road for me to follow. Imagine our kids seeing us do these things and choosing to follow. Listen to The Message in these same verses … Show me how you work, God; School me in your ways. Take me by the hand; Lead me down the path of truth. Let me ask you, How teachable are you right now? So often we get stuck in the way we have always done something that we fail to see new possibilities. Can you ask God right now to show you areas that you may need to be schooled in His ways? And ask him to take you by your hand and lead you down the path of truth, open your eyes to His way of seeing things? Let's pray together: “Heavenly Father, show me how you work.

Like take away all our false ideas and futile attempts to be in control for ourselves?” Listen once again to Paul, this time in Philippians 3:20-21 … But we are citizens of heaven, where the Lord Jesus Christ lives. Whether we die first or He comes back, we will witness Him “bringing everything under His control.” Meanwhile, today, right now, no matter how tough life gets, no matter how unfair life may seem, we can choose Him, choose His power, choose Heaven. Listen to today's passage in the Message Bible … But there's far more to life for us. And, as always, the biggest question for any of us, what do you need to give up and give God for your best and your kids best? Let's pray together: “Heavenly Father, thank You for the hope and the promise, whether here or in Heaven, that the best is always yet to come. Please help me to remember that truth when everything seems to go wrong and I want to give up. Just help me to give it to You. As above, so below.”

Three things will last forever—faith, hope, and love—and the greatest of these is love. 1 Corinthians 13:13 NLT   To belong is to be loved and to give love. Your identity is shaped when a community brings you in and validates that you belong and when you validate for others that they belong. However, the greatest validation that brings peace, security, joy, and growth in our lives is when the community we belong to Echoes the Word of God and His design for our lives.   “When we live outside of a healthy community, we not only lose others. We lose ourselves...Who we understand ourselves to be is dramatically affected for better or worse by those we hold closest to us. We only truly come to know ourselves in the context of others. The more isolated and disconnected we are, the more shattered and distorted our self-identity. We are not healthy when we are alone. We find ourselves as we connect to others.” Erwin McManus   Give, and you will receive. Your gift will return to you in full—pressed down, shaken together to make room for more, running over, and poured into your lap. The amount you give will determine the amount you get back. Luke 6:38 NLT   You must be compassionate, just as your Father is compassionate. Do not judge others, and you will not be judged. Do not condemn others, or it will all come back against you. Forgive others, and you will be forgiven. Luke 6:36-37 NLT   MATURITY SAYS, “I TAKE FULL RESPONSIBILITY FOR THE CIRCUMSTANCES OF MY LIFE AND FOR MY PHYSICAL, EMOTIONAL, MENTAL, AND SPIRITUAL WELL-BEING.”   4 THINGS THAT DESTROY RELATIONSHIPS   1. Selfishness destroys relationships   'What is causing the quarrels and fights among you? Don't they come from the evil desires at war within you? You want what you don't have, so you scheme and kill to get it. You are jealous of what others have, but you can't get it, so you fight and wage war to take it away from them. Yet you don't have what you want because you don't ask God for it. ' James 4:1-2 NLT   'Selfishness only causes trouble. You are much better off to trust the LORD. ' Proverbs 28:25 GNB   2. Pride destroys relationships   'Pride leads to conflict… Proverbs 13:10 NLT   'Pride goes before destruction, and haughtiness before a fall.' Proverbs 16:18 NLT   'First pride, then the crash— the bigger the ego, the harder the fall.' Proverbs 16:18 MSG   3. Insecurity destroys relationships   'The fear of human opinion disables… Proverbs 29:25 MSG   4. Resentment destroys relationships   'Then I realized that my heart was bitter, and I was all torn up inside. I was so foolish and ignorant— I must have seemed like a senseless animal to you.' Psalms 73:21-22 NLT   'Look after each other so that none of you fails to receive the grace of God. Watch out that no poisonous root of bitterness grows up to trouble you, corrupting many. ' Hebrews 12:15 NLT   3 BENEFITS OF A LIFE-GIVING COMMUNITY   'How wonderful and pleasant it is when brothers live together in harmony! For harmony is as precious as the anointing oil that was poured over Aaron's head, that ran down his beard and onto the border of his robe. Harmony is as refreshing as the dew from Mount Hermon that falls on the mountains of Zion. And there the Lord has pronounced his blessing, even life everlasting.' Psalms 133:1-3 NLT   1. THERE IS AN ANOINTING IN OUR LIFE-GIVING RELATIONSHIPS For harmony is as precious as the anointing oil that was poured over Aaron's head, that ran down his beard and onto the border of his robe. Psalms 133:2 NLT   The Christian needs another Christian who speaks God's word to him. He needs him again and again when he becomes uncertain and discouraged, for by himself he cannot help himself without belying the truth. He needs his brother man as a bearer and proclaimer of the Divine word of salvation. -Dietrich Bonhoeffer   2. THERE IS A HOPEFUL ANTICIPATION IN OUR LIFE-GIVING RELATIONSHIPS Harmony is as refreshing as the dew from Mount Hermon that falls on the mountains of Zion. Psalms 133:3 NLT   3. THERE IS A GLIMPSE OF HEAVEN IN OUR LIFE-GIVING RELATIONSHIPS And there the Lord has pronounced his blessing, even life everlasting. Psalms 133:3 NLT   On the night when he was betrayed, the Lord Jesus took some bread and gave thanks to God for it. Then he broke it in pieces and said, “This is my body, which is given for you. Do this in remembrance of me.” In the same way, he took the cup of wine after supper, saying, “This cup is the new covenant between God and his people—an agreement confirmed with my blood. Do this in remembrance of me as often as you drink it.” For every time you eat this bread and drink this cup, you are announcing the Lord's death until he comes again. 1 Corinthians 11:24-26 NLT   So let each individual first evaluate his own attitude and only then eat the bread and drink the cup. For continually eating and drinking with a wrong spirit will bring judgment upon yourself by not recognizing the body. This insensitivity is why many of you are weak, chronically ill, and some even dying. 1 Corinthians 11:28-30 TPT

Do your actions today reflect your relationship with Jesus?Even when we are close to Jesus, sometimes our actions do not reflect it. Actions not consistent with our position in ChristIf you are married you have experienced this. Yes? Our actions don't always line up with our vows to honor and cherish. Momentary lapses for sure. Mark 7:5-6 (NLT) So the Pharisees and teachers of religious law asked him, “Why don't your disciples follow our age-old tradition? They eat without first performing the hand-washing ceremony.” Jesus replied, “You hypocrites! Isaiah was right when he prophesied about you, for he wrote, ‘These people honor me with their lips, but their hearts are far from me.'”We studied this last year. Jesus was calling out Pharisees and teachers of religious law - basically the same group we see in today's text in the Garden of Gethsemane.Expand on hypocrites: The word "hypocrite" originates from the Greek term "hypokritēs," which referred to an actor or stage player. It is derived from the verb "hypokrinomai," meaning "to play a part, pretend." In ancient Greek theater, actors would wear masks and play various roles, portraying different characters. Over time, the term "hypocrite" evolved to describe someone who pretends to be something they're not, particularly in terms of morality or beliefs. This evolution reflects the idea of someone playing a role or putting on a false appearance, much like an actor on stage. The Pharisees gave religious lip service – following rules and traditions but missing the point. Genuine faith changes people from the inside out.Jesus is not being sold out to a ragtag group of ruffians, but to the religious elite. They had already proven that their religion was a farce. They had already been called out for giving nothing more than lip service to God.Today we'll see other types of lip service This one will sting more.Mark 14:43-45 (NLT) And immediately, even as Jesus said this, Judas, one of the twelve disciples, arrived with a crowd of men armed with swords and clubs. They had been sent by the leading priests, the teachers of religious law, and the elders. The traitor, Judas, had given them a prearranged signal: “You will know which one to arrest when I greet him with a kiss. Then you can take him away under guard.” As soon as they arrived, Judas walked up to Jesus. “Rabbi!” he exclaimed, and gave him the kiss.Talk about lip service! Should we name this second kind of lip service? Judas' lip service was outright betrayal, using a kiss – a gesture that typically signified love and loyalty. The manner of betrayal becomes the first example of...

One of the most telling and incredible passages in the New Testament is where Jesus talks about the difference in those who follow Him and those who don't, and how you can tell them apart here on earth. What is also fascinating here is the things He cares about the most in what we do with our lives. “But when the Son of Man comes in his glory, and all the angels with him, then he will sit upon his glorious throne. He said so. Let's pray together: “Heavenly Father, I confess I get overwhelmed with the problems of the world and end up doing nothing. Help me to take this passage and focus on just one simple act to get started on what your sheep do.  I certainly know what it looks like to be over looked and ignored, so let's help those who live that way every day.  As above so below.”

Oh, the joys of those who do not follow the advice of the wicked, or stand around with sinners, or join in with mockers. But they delight in the law of the Lord, meditating on it day and night. They are like trees planted along the riverbank, bearing fruit each season. Their leaves never wither, and they prosper in all they do. Psalms 1:1-3 NLT   All Scripture is inspired by God and is useful to teach us what is true and to make us realize what is wrong in our lives. It corrects us when we are wrong and teaches us to do what is right. God uses it to prepare and equip his people to do every good work. 2 Timothy 3:16-17 NLT   So now you Gentiles are no longer strangers and foreigners. You are citizens along with all of God's holy people. You are members of God's family. Ephesians 2:16 NLT   And so, dear brothers and sisters, we can boldly enter heaven's Most Holy Place because of the blood of Jesus. Hebrews 10:19 NLT   THE QUESTION IS NOT “AM I GOING TO BE A PART OF A COMMUNITY OF FAITH?” BUT “HOW AM I GOING TO LIVE IN THIS COMMUNITY OF FAITH?”   And let us not neglect our meeting together, as some people do, but encourage one another, especially now that the day of his return is drawing near. Hebrews 10:25 NLT   I was glad when they said to me, “Let us go to the house of the Lord.” Psalms 122:1   1. COMMUNAL WORSHIP IS A WORKABLE STRUCTURE FOR OUR LIFE.   And now here we are, standing inside your gates, O Jerusalem. Psalms 122:2 NLT   Jerusalem is a well-built city; its seamless walls cannot be breached. Psalms 122:3 NLT   Live in harmony with one another; do not be haughty (snobbish, high-minded, exclusive), but readily adjust yourself to [people, things] and give yourselves to humble tasks. Never overestimate yourself or be wise in your own conceits. Romans 12:16 AMPC   All the tribes of Israel—the Lord's people—make their pilgrimage here. Psalms 122:4 NLT   2. COMMUNAL WORSHIP NUTURES OUR NEED TO BE IN RELATIONSHIP WITH GOD.   They come to give thanks to the name of the Lord, as the law requires of Israel. Psalms 122:4 NLT   But a tiny spark can set a great forest on fire. James 3:5 NLT   Always be full of joy in the Lord. I say it again—rejoice! Philippians 4:4 NLT   "Feelings are important in many areas but completely unreliable in matters of faith" Eugene Peterson   3. COMMUNAL WORSHIP ALLOWS OUR ATTENTION TO BE CENTERED ON GOD'S DIRECTION.   Here stand the thrones where judgment is given, the thrones of the dynasty of David. Psalms 122:5 NLT   Therefore if you have any encouragement from being united with Christ, if any comfort from his love, if any common sharing in the Spirit, if any tenderness and compassion, then make my joy complete by being like-minded, having the same love, being one in spirit and of one mind. Philippians 2:1-2 NIV 4. COMMUNAL WORSHIP INFLUENCES OUR WEEK   Pray for peace in Jerusalem. Psalms 122:6 NLT   May all who love this city prosper. Psalms 122:6 NLT   O Jerusalem, may there be peace within your walls and prosperity in your palaces. For the sake of my family and friends, I will say, “May you have peace.” For the sake of the house of the Lord our God, I will seek what is best for you, O Jerusalem.  Psalms 122:7-9 NLT

Do we actually pray like it? James 5:16 //  The prayer of a righteous person is powerful and effective. Hebrews 4:16 (NLT)  //  So let us come boldly to the throne of our gracious God. There we will receive his mercy, and we will find grace to help us when we need it most. “The greatest tragedy in life is the prayers that go unanswered because they go unasked.” - Mark Batterson Following Jesus was never meant to be safe. 3 Dangerous Prayers Acts 4:8-10  //  Then Peter, filled with the Holy Spirit, said to them: “Rulers and elders of the people! 9 If we are being called to account today for an act of kindness shown to a man who was lame and are being asked how he was healed, 10 then know this, you and all the people of Israel: It is by the name of Jesus Christ of Nazareth, whom you crucified but whom God raised from the dead, that this man stands before you healed. Acts 4:13  //  When they saw the courage of Peter and John and realized that they were unschooled, ordinary men, they were astonished and they took note that these men had been with Jesus. Idiōtai - Ordinary Acts 4:29  //  Now, Lord, consider their threats and enable your servants to speak your word with great boldness. 1. Lord, make me bold. Acts 4:30-31  //  Stretch out your hand to heal and perform signs and wonders through the name of your holy servant Jesus.” 31 After they prayed, the place where they were meeting was shaken. Because we have these promises, dear friends, let us cleanse ourselves from everything that can defile our body or spirit. And let us work toward complete holiness because we fear God. 2 Corinthians 7:1 NLT   But now you must be holy in everything you do, just as God who chose you is holy. For the Scriptures say, “You must be holy because I am holy.” 1 Peter 1:16 NLT   “I know all the things you do, that you are neither hot nor cold. I wish that you were one or the other! But since you are like lukewarm water, neither hot nor cold, I will spit you out of my mouth!” Revelation 3:15-16 NLT     “If you love your father or mother more than you love me, you are not worthy of being mine; or if you love your son or daughter more than me, you are not worthy of being mine. If you refuse to take up your cross and follow me, you are not worthy of being mine. If you cling to your life, you will lose it; but if you give up your life for me, you will find it.” Matthew 10:37-39 NLT     Then Jesus said, “Come to me, all of you who are weary and carry heavy burdens, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you. Let me teach you, because I am humble and gentle at heart, and you will find rest for your souls. For my yoke is easy to bear, and the burden I give you is light.” Matthew 11:28-30 NLT   “Grace is costly because it compels a man to submit to the Yoke of Christ and follow Him. It is Grace because Jesus says, My yoke is easy and my burden is light.'” Dietrich Bonhoeffer   1. We Come   Then Jesus said, “Come to me, all of you who are weary and carry heavy burdens, and I will give you rest.  Matthew 11:28 NLT   Jesus told him, “I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one can come to the Father except through me.” John 14:6 NLT   So if the Son sets you free, you are truly free. John 8:36 NLT   “Is anyone thirsty? Come and drink—even if you have no money! Come, take your choice of wine or milk—it's all free! Isaiah 55:1 NLT   Then Jesus said, “Come to me, all of you who are weary and carry heavy burdens, and I will give you rest.  Matthew 11:28 NLT   2. We Take   Take my yoke upon you. Matthew 11:29 NLT   Those who live only to satisfy their own sinful nature will harvest decay and death from that sinful nature. But those who live to please the Spirit will harvest everlasting life from the Spirit.  So let's not get tired of doing what is good. At just the right time we will reap a harvest of blessing if we don't give up. Galatian 6:8-9 NLT   WHAT YOU HOLD ONTO BECOMES YOUR RESPONSIBILITY TO MAINTAIN, BUT WHAT YOU SURRENDER TO GOD HE BEARS. Seek the Kingdom of God above all else, and live righteously, and he will give you everything you need. Matthew 6:33 NLT   3. We Learn   Let me teach you, because I am humble and gentle at heart… Matthew 11:29 NLT   Search me, O God, and know my heart; test me and know my anxious thoughts. Point out anything in me that offends you, and lead me along the path of everlasting life. Psalm 139:23-24 NLT   Well then, since God's grace has set us free from the law, does that mean we can go on sinning? Of course not! Don't you realize that you become the slave of whatever you choose to obey? You can be a slave to sin, which leads to death, or you can choose to obey God, which leads to righteous living. Romans 6:15-16 NLT   “If you love me, obey my commandments. And I will ask the Father, and he will give you another Advocate, who will never leave you.  He is the Holy Spirit, who leads into all truth. John 14:15-17 NLT   And so, dear brothers and sisters, I plead with you to give your bodies to God because of all he has done for you. Let them be a living and holy sacrifice—the kind he will find acceptable. This is truly the way to worship him. Romans 12:1 NLT   4. We Receive Rest   Then Jesus said, “Come to me, all of you who are weary and carry heavy burdens, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you. Let me teach you, because I am humble and gentle at heart, and you will find rest for your souls. For my yoke is easy to bear, and the burden I give you is light.” Matthew 11:28-30 NLT   The faithful love of the Lord never ends! His mercies never cease. Great is his faithfulness; his mercies begin afresh each morning. Lamentations 3:22-23 NLT   What is a yoke?   Jesus came and told his disciples, “I have been given all authority in heaven and on earth. Therefore, go and make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and the Son and the Holy Spirit. Teach these new disciples to obey all the commands I have given you. And be sure of this: I am with you always, even to the end of the age.” Matthew 18-20 NLT   But Jesus told him, “Anyone who puts a hand to the plow and then looks back is not fit for the Kingdom of God.” Luke 9:62 NLT     “When we are called to follow Christ, we are summoned to an exclusive attachment to his person. And Christianity without discipleship is always Christianity without Christ.” - Dietrich Bonhoeffer

The lie we believe is that feelings are bad, to be battled. But feelings aren't sinful. They are signposts to draw us toward greater dependence on God.Emotions are sinful - we need to use our headsTruth: Thinking is good, but so is feeling! God created our emotions.Emotions are weak - we need to stuff themTruth: Emotions can lead us to a deeper experience of GodEven God has emotions! Examples:Anger Exodus 32:9-10 (NLT) Then the LORD said, “I have seen how stubborn and rebellious these people are. Now leave me alone so my fierce anger can blaze against them, and I will destroy them. Then I will make you, Moses, into a great nation.”Also, Jesus flipped over the tablesGrief Genesis 6:6 (NLT) So the LORD was sorry he had ever made them and put them on the earth. They distributed leaflets denouncing the regime's crimes and were eventually executed for their courageous resistance.Fear can awaken us to a spiritual realityShame can lead us to experience graceFor some, shame and guilt for their past actionsFor others, shame for what someone has done to youGrief can open us up to the ultimate ComforterWe'll be talking about all of this over the next five weeks…Guard your heart:...

Those who knock it is opened.” - CS Lewis For the grace of God has been revealed, bringing salvation to all people. And we are instructed to turn from godless living and sinful pleasures. We should live in this evil world with wisdom, righteousness, and devotion to God, while we look forward with hope to that wonderful day when the glory of our great God and Savior, Jesus Christ, will be revealed. He gave his life to free us from every kind of sin, to cleanse us, and to make us his very own people. - Titus 4: 11-14

Teaching. Maturity. Spiritual Circumcision The apostle Paul writes in Colossians 1:28, “So we tell others about Christ, warning everyone and teaching everyone with all the wisdom God has given us. We want to present them to God, perfect in their relationship to Christ.” Paul establishes that his goal for preaching and teaching is to “present everyone perfect in Christ.” The Greek idea of perfection as something without a flaw has influenced our understanding of the term in today. Consequently, for most, perfection is some impossible ideal that no one will ever attain. But the biblical vision is something was “perfect” if it's contributing to its purpose. That what we're after here, contributing to the purpose God created us for. Colossians 1:28 (NLT) – “So we tell others about Christ, warning everyone and teaching everyone with all the wisdom God has given us. We want to present them to God, perfect in their relationship to Christ.” Ethos is a life-giving community committed to keeping Jesus at its Center.
