The sermon refutes the Calvinistic doctrine of total depravity by arguing that God actively draws all people to Himself through common grace rather than irresistible force. It identifies creation, conscience, and the light given to every man as universal means by which God reveals truth and invites response. Pastor Friesen emphasizes that while humanity is fallen, individuals retain the moral ability to accept or reject the gospel invitation extended through special revelation. By examining passages such as John 6 and Romans 1, the text asserts that rejection of this light leads to a reprobate mind, not an inherent inability to believe. Ultimately, the message encourages believers to participate in God's courtship of the lost by sharing the gospel, affirming that salvation is available to whosoever wills to receive it.

Luther called the Psalms a little Bible, and Calvin called them an anatomy of all the parts of the soul. This overview walks through the shape, the poetry, and the songs of the Psalter, from the five books to the superscriptions to the laments and hallelujahs. It closes with the hymn Jesus almost certainly sang on the night He was betrayed, and why Psalm 118 will never sound the same once you have heard it in His voice.

Dylan addresses/answers several questions regarding the doctrines of grace: 1) What about free will? 2) What about John 3:16 and 1 John 2:2? 3) What about passages that tell us to choose? 4) Doesn't God love everyone? 5) Is this fair? 6) What about people who fall away?

The Gospel of God - Message 21 - A Path of Destruction - Romans 3:15-18. John Murray said, "To be destitute of the fear of God is to be godless." And John Calvin wrote, "Wickedness flows from a disregard of God." In our text we continue to follow this progression into depravity by those who suppress the knowledge of the truth and exchange the truth of God for a lie. For them, there is no peace!

We will discuss the foreknowledge of God (versus foreordination), predestination and the fact Scripture teaches that it speaks of the destiny of believers and NOT the choice of WHO would believe. The sermon warns against the rising influence of New Calvinism, identifying it as a dangerous theological shift that infiltrates evangelical churches through social media and cultural relevance. It critiques core Calvinist doctrines such as unconditional election and limited atonement, arguing they contradict biblical teachings on God's love and human responsibility. Pastor Friesen emphasizes the necessity of eternal security based on God's promise rather than human performance and advocates for strict separation from worldly culture. Key figures like John Piper and Mark Driscoll are cited as promoters of this movement, which undermines traditional Baptist distinctives. Believers are urged to remain vigilant against these errors by holding firmly to verbal inspiration and the King James Bible.

AI Generated Summary: This historical theology study examines John Calvin's framework for religious epistemology as presented in the Institutes of the Christian Religion. The speaker outlines three primary sources through which humanity gains knowledge of God: self-reflection on human gifts, an innate sense of deity implanted in every conscience, and general revelation observed in creation. While these means provide a universal awareness of God's existence and power, they are insufficient for salvation due to the corrupting effects of sin on human reason. Consequently, special revelation through Scripture is necessary to correct misperceptions and reveal God as Redeemer. The sermon concludes that true knowledge of God requires the renewing work of the Holy Spirit and faith in Jesus Christ.

In this message we look at Jacobus Arminius and the beginnings of Arminianism vs. Calvinism.

I couldn't settle on anything to narrate this morning and decided to just speak about some things that were reflections, and recalled a revival story I had read from James Hall and the Revival in North Carolina in 1802. At then end I read from Ruth Bryan's diary, and somehow tied it all together.

Christian love is the defining mark of discipleship, rooted in Christ's command to love one another as He has loved us. Drawing from Scripture, including 1 John, 1 Corinthians 13, and Jesus' teaching on the Great Commandment, love is not merely emotion but a disciplined, sacrificial commitment that surpasses the law while fulfilling it. John Calvin's threefold use of the law—its civil function, its normative role for believers, and its pedagogical purpose in revealing sin and driving us to Christ—shows how the law, when rightly understood through the lens of grace, becomes a mirror of God's holiness and a pathway to joy in the gospel. The Fifth Commandment, shows love as practical, relational, and embodied in duties of honor, obedience, and care within human relationships. Ultimately, through the Spirit, believers are freed from sin's power and enabled to fulfill the law's righteous requirements by living in the love that reflects God's very nature, culminating in a life of worship, joy, and eternal communion with God.

#41 Let God be God Basic Bible Doctrines John 1:1-ff, John 3:16 1 John 2:1-2 Dr. Jim Phillips preaches this message on the mission field. If anyone would like to make a donation to help no matter how small. It will be appreciated. Thank you. Our Address in Fish Lake Valley is POB 121 Dyer, Nevada 89010 or HC 72 Box 19102 Fish Lake Valley Nevada 89010 The sermon centers on the imperative to let God be God—revealed not through human invention or cultural distortion, but through Scripture, especially the incarnate Word, Jesus Christ, who embodies divine love, grace, and truth. It affirms that God is not the author of evil, nor does He predestine anyone to damnation, rejecting both hyper-Calvinism and the false gods of Islam, Mormonism, and other systems that distort divine sovereignty. The message emphasizes universal atonement, grounded in John 3:16 and 1 John 2:2, where Christ's sacrifice is for the sins of the whole world, not merely the elect, and calls believers to repentance, personal responsibility, and a life of obedience rooted in divine love. It warns against religious traditions and ideologies that obscure the true nature of God, urging a return to biblical revelation as the sole authority, and concludes with a powerful affirmation of Christ's eternal identity, His resurrection, and His ultimate authority over life and death, calling all people to respond in faith.
