Weekly podcast of messages from Momentum Church on the Gold Coast. Most messages are from our Senior Pastor, Harry De Vries, but also some from lay members and occasional guest speakers.

Many of us know the story of Job, that he was according to Gods own words a man that there is none like him on the earth, a blameless and upright man, one who fears God and shuns evil, and yet in chapter 9 we read of the thing that plagued Job's life. Like Job we must be willing to let God prosecute our heart to reveal what should not be there or simply allow the conviction of the Holy Spirit to reach into your heart today.

The book of Acts is filled with many mazing encounters that the disciples had wherever they went. It started in an upper room where the promise that Jesus said would happen took place - the impartation of the Holy Spirit that enables us to have Dunamis power through Jesus Christ.

In the book of Genesis we read about Abram and how his life had changed so much from where he had started. We know of Abraham the patriarch of faith but Abram had learned to trust in the abundance of God over decades of trust in the God who was more than enough, the All Sufficient One.

Today we share with you some of the goals we are believing for in 2026, that 2026 would be a year of the abundance of God anchored in the scripture of Colossians 3:3 - "For you died, and your life is hidden with Christ in God." Let's believe together that this year would be you best year yet in Christ.

In Matthew's Gospel Jesus speak to the people about faith. We often hear faith the size of a mustard seed but have we thought about faith as a mustard seed. This is the Greek word used in Matthew 17. Its not the size of your mustard seed but where it is planted. Our faith is not in our own abilities, our own intellect, our own strength. Our faith has to be firmly planted in God, in His abilities, in His abilities and in His Word. Our faith grows when we hear, consume and act upon the living word of God.

The journey of our Christian wall is to live like Jesus, think like Jesus and be like Jesus. We know that we always have the best of intentions and yet like the Apostle Paul we end up not doing what we should be doing and doing what we shouldn't. There is a promise however for us un the book of Revelation 21 verse 21 which tells us that He being Jesus said "Behold I make all things new." The underlying truth of the new creation is that God makes us new when we receive Christ, we become in the spirit and a new creation and our journey in Christ is one of dying to self and putting on the mind and spirit of Jesus.

In Acts 3 we never see the name Holy Spirit mentioned and yet we see the work of the Holy Spirit through the lives of Peter and John when dealing with the man at the gate Beautiful who was blind from birth. We read those famous word "Silver and gold I do not have, but what I do have I give you: In the name of Jesus Christ of Nazareth, rise up and walk." As disciples of Jesus we must be willing to go where we haven't been before so we can see things we've never seen before and not let our reasoning stop us from seeing what God has for us and others.

In Luke chapter 2 we read the faithfulness of God and the the faithfulness of two people - Simeon and Anna, two people who held on to the promise of God given to them that they would see with their own eyes the promise of Israel and the world. Both Simeon and Anna could have given up but they didn't and they could have said no this cannot be the promise of the Messiah but they refused to be limited by their own ideology and trusted the word of God that was given to them - the promise of Jesus.

Galatians 4 tells us that when the fullness of time had come, God sent forth His Son, not in a palace, not in a mansion, not in a large house but in a manger. The thought that God the Son entered into his own creation, entering time and space and matter to bring hope and redemption. The universe waited for this moment of time to tack place, we serve a God of true generosity.

As Christians we all have access to the same authority Jesus has, he even said in John's Gospel that we his disciples would do greater things. In order to do these things, the good works God has prepared in advance for us to do, we need to recognise and operate in the authority that Colossians tells us we have access to because of what Jesus has done for us.

The bible tells us without faith it is impossible to please God and that faith is the substance of things hoped for and the evidence of things not seen. In a rudimentary way faith can be explained as "trust in action". For instance, people get on airplanes, cross bridges, and eat at new restaurants, all because they have a certain level of trust or faith that the plane will fly safely, the bridge will hold their weight, or the food will be safe to eat. This demonstrates that having faith—confiding in something uncertain but necessary or desirable—is a common human experience.

Many people, even those that have no faith in God can agree that if we all lived like Jesus the world would be a better place. So how do we as Christians learn to live more like Jesus – we become disciple making disciplers. Discipleship can be likened to a Jesus apprenticeship, we learn from following our teacher Jesus.

Spurgeon said "Time is short. Eternity is long. It is only reasonable that this short life be lived in the light of eternity" Whatever we do in this life we must always view it through the lens of eternity, that lens will be steeped in a scripture that is repeated three times in the bible - "Every knee will bow, every tongue will confess"

Throughout the bible God has revealed HIs Spirit in different ways. In the Old Testament the Holy Spirit was placed on certain people for specific reasons and King David in his repentant heart asked the God would not take His Spirit away. In the New Testament because of the work of Jesus at the cross the Holy Spirit is given to us and now it's for all time enabling us to do all the good works God has prepared for us in advance.

In Genesis 27 we see for the first time a phrase used by Jacob to his father Isaac - "The Lord your God". In Exodus we see for the first time God use the same phrase to Moses after the people rebelled into false worship at the bottom of the mountain and God tells Moses "your people" have corrupted themselves. Moses responds with no Lord they are your people. No matter what God does in our lives we always need to remember the glory must always be given to God.

1 Chronicles chapter 4 tells us the story of Bithiah and the remarkable steps of faith she achieved which would change the course of a nation. Every church has a specific call and ministry and the people as the church create that difference with their specific call of God in their lives. We have to be willing though to go where we've never gone before to do what we've never done before and to go to places we never thought possible in order to see the difference not in our lives but in generations to come.

In Luke Chapter 5 - Jesus teaches us about the the old and new wineskin. When God moves us it's always a challenge, but the challenge brings change and sometimes God allows challenges to bring in the change. We need to recognise the old wineskin is dead and so often the tension we feel as Christians is trying to reform the old man instead of living as the new man.

When God touches you, something shifts on the inside which then becomes evident to others on the outside and in Esther 4:13-15 Esther had a choice she could do nothing and stay in the life that she had or she could stand in the call that God had placed her there for. When God is moving there is a supernatural grace involved an we need to tap into that grace of God for His Kingdom glory.

Patrick Fitzgerald was born in Dublin, Ireland to a Roman Catholic family. At the age of 23 following the tragic death of a close friend, Patrick began to search for truth. The emptiness of the life he knew troubled him greatly and he was determined to find God, if He existed! While on holiday in Tenerife, Patrick's questions were finally answered, and he encountered God in a way he had never known before changing his life forever. Since then, Patrick has devoted his life to the Kingdom of God, travelling the world and sharing the Gospel of Jesus Christ to all seeing many people's lives changed for the glory of God.

Ps Harry & Cil share about the mission trip to Indonesia and how we activate the prophetic word that is given to the glory to God. Each of us has a purpose and destiny in God and Ephesians 2 tells us God has prepared good works in advance for us to do. What will you write on your line?

James 5:16-17 tells us "Confess your trespasses to one another, and pray for one another, that you may be healed. The effective, fervent prayer of a righteous man avails much. 17 Elijah was a man with a nature like ours, and he prayed earnestly that it would not rain; and it did not rain on the land for three years and six months. Ps Alan shares with us about the power of prayer and staying faithful to the word that God instills in our lives.

Mark 16:17 tells us "And these signs will follow those who believe: In My name they will cast out demons; they will speak with new tongues; 18 they will take up serpents; and if they drink anything deadly, it will by no means hurt them; they will lay hands on the sick, and they will recover.” As Christians we need to learn that all authority is given to us through Christ Jesus.

In Acts 2 Peter stands up and addresses the crowd after the crowd heard and saw the people from the upper room speaking in tongues. Peter responds with This is That which the prophet Joel spoke about - the Spirit of God being poured out over all mankind all because Jesus is the answer.

In Genesis 22 we read about the life of Abraham, who because of his steadfast faith became the father of many nations. This promise of God to Abraham blessed not just the nation of Israel but any of us who have received Jesus into our hearts as Lord and Saviour.

2 Corinthians 5:17 tells us "Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation; old things have passed away; behold, all things have become new." Not one day, not perhaps but it is now if we are in Christ. Every single person has the opportunity to receive Jesus and this is all made possible because Jesus is our propitiation.

Life is filled with such a time as this moments, we all have them whether they relate to our faith, our work or our families we all have moments that have a greater impact than we realise at the time. Tim Keller said "God always answers your prayers in precisely the way you want them to be answered if you knew everything he knew." If we get on God's page and understand that he has an amazing purpose for your life you will see all the for such a time as this moments.

Ps Harry shares with us from the book of Genesis and the story of Adam and Eve and the fall of man. God created Adam in His image and he gave him a relationship with himself plus a world in which he was supposed to take dominion over and subdue. Adam because of disobedience lost not only his birthright but also his blessing.

In Matthew 16:21-28, Jesus calls His followers to deny themselves, take up their cross, and follow Him. True discipleship requires courage—standing firm in faith even when it's costly. Being bold for Christ means choosing obedience over comfort, truth over popularity, and eternal reward over temporary gain. Live fearlessly for Jesus today!

We know that Jesus always had a crowd following him to see what would happen and no doubt what they could get. Jesus had the crowd, the 120, the 12 disciples and then the three closest to him. As we get closer to God we get closer to the Spirit of God and as we get closer to the Spirit of God our sinful nature gets exposed so we can leave it at the cross of Jesus and move forward without condemnation and we develop a lifestyle of repentance before God.

This mission Sunday Ps Harry shares with us the work that Jesus did everywhere he went and how Jesus displayed N.O.E. plus we hear what is happening across Indonesia, Philippines and in Australia .

Ps Darren is the Senior Pastor of Highlands Christian Church in Mittagong and he shares with us from 1 Samuel and the story of the prophet Samuel and what era he was coming into in Israel's history. Israel did what was right in their own eyes and had fallen into the trap of adding idols to their faith. Whenever we add an idol to our faith the result is never good as our God Jehovah is the One true God that nothing can compare to.

Pastor Tom is recognised by many as an Apostle of Worship who carries a prophetic word that is fresh and relevant for the church today. He has travelled across the world teaching the message of ‘worship as a lifestyle' and is considered by many as a pioneer in the area.

Dr Martin Lloyd-Jones said: “A great danger confronting us in this present time is that people keep talking about Christianity instead of talking about Jesus. We start with ourselves, we start with our problems our difficulties, we start with the world as it is, and we end with that. People are merely interested in the application of Christianity not the Christ of Christianity.” The people wanted to make Jesus king because they saw the miracles and not the kingdom of God and in our worship we can fall into the trap of the what taking precedence over who that is Jesus Christ the centre of our worship.

Are you facing a midnight moment? Locked in a situation that feels impossible? In Acts 16, Paul and Silas were beaten, chained, and thrown into a dark prison—but instead of giving up, they prayed and praised. What happened next reveals the master key of prayer. Prayer isn't the last resort—it's the first weapon. When we choose to pray, even in pain, heaven responds. Chains break. Doors open. Lives change. Not only were Paul and Silas set free, but the jailer and his whole household were saved.

Worship was there in Genesis 1 and was lost in a garden in Genesis 2. While we know that God inhabits the praises of his people we can fall into the trap that when we praise God then has to turn up and this is a self centred worship. Our worship begins and ends with God and Jesus reinstated, redeemed and restored our worship.

Do You Feel Like God Is Not With You? You're Not Alone—But You Are Never Truly Alone. Life gets heavy. Challenges mount, anxiety creeps in, and sometimes it feels like God is distant or silent. But the truth, rooted in Scripture, is that God SO loves you—and because of that deep, enduring love, He is always near. Let's explore some powerful Bible verses that prove God's presence, love, and faithfulness even in our darkest moments.

It was the Samaritan, a man despised by Jewish society, who stopped, bound the man's wounds, and ensured he was cared for. His compassion moved him to action, and that action became the miracle the wounded man needed. Compassion isn't weakness—it's the beginning of healing. It opens the door for God to work. In this story, Jesus reframes what it means to truly "love your neighbor." It's not about knowing the law—it's about living it through mercy.

In Psalm 77, we wrestle with doubt and distress—but also with divine faithfulness. What will you do with the cross? What will you do with the storm? Will you cower like the cow or rise with the buffalo? Join us in storm chasing with Jesus and discover hope in hardship.

What if Jesus coming to this world is more than dying on a cross, what if the idea of salvation was not just about us getting a ticket to heaven but more about lifting the veil on how we are to live here on earth. Jesus came at the time that He did to show people the heart of God and in Jesus' ministry we see there is a real shift in focus from external action to having a true heart transformation. The Jesus way showed us, love, compassion, humility, forgiveness, generosity, integrity, truth, peace, patience and faithfulness to God.

From the very first verse, Psalm 65 makes it clear: “Praise awaits you, our God, in Zion; to you our vows will be fulfilled. You who answer prayer, to you all people will come.” – Psalm 65:1–2 (NIV) This passage highlights a foundational truth: God listens. Prayer is not just a spiritual ritual—it's a real conversation with the God who answers. Psalm 65 reminds us that: God hears us when we pray, God forgives us even when we fall short and God provides for us, both spiritually and physically.

Long before he was thrown into the lions' den, Daniel had already won the respect of King Darius through the character of his testimony. Scripture tells us that Daniel was “distinguished above the governors and satraps, because an excellent spirit was in him” (Daniel 6:3 NKJV). Darius saw in Daniel a man who was honest, wise, and deeply committed to something beyond politics—his God, Daniel's lifestyle showed a power of testimony to the faithfulness of God.

Throughout Scripture, we see a divine rhythm—God calls, and His people respond. Genesis 22 illustrates this beautifully as Abraham hears God's voice, answers, and takes action. This sermon unpacks how God calls our name, invites us into deeper faith, and leads us through life's challenges with purpose and always with His presence and divine grace.

Words have the power to build up or tear down, strengthen faith or breed doubt. In Matthew 14:22-32, we see how Peter's words—"Lord, if it is You, command me to come to You on the water"—demonstrated his faith. But his doubt-filled words later caused him to sink. Nicho explores the significance of our words in shaping our faith, relationships, and walk with God.

At Momentum Church, we believe Jesus is more than just a Sunday experience—He is the foundation of our daily lives. Our vision is to cultivate a thriving community of believers who live out their faith every day, at home, at work, and in their communities.

Ps Patrick shares a message with us about the need to dream again for the things of God.

In 1 Corinthians the Apostle Paul speaks to them about everyone having a roll, a part to play in the kingdom of God. To quote Dr Martin Luther King we the church, need to be thermostats instead of thermometers in our communities and Paul shows us no matter what we do whether we plant or we water we first need to hear what God is saying to us and remember that it is only God that causes the grow.

We all need to motivated at times, motivated to do different things or get up in the morning. Each person has a unique way of being motivated and God knows exactly who you are because He created you, He fashioned you, He formed you and spoke into you. So who better than our heavenly Father to place within us His children, the gifts of motivation we read about in Romans 12.

Ps Patrick Fitzgerald is from People's Church Dublin City and he shares with us a message about Jacob and Esau and the destiny that is before them both.

Have you ever overheard a conversation and interrupted to give what you thought would be well appreciated information only to discover you had the context all wrong. When it comes to reading and studying the bible, context is everything and especially when it comes to the gifts in 1 Corinthians 12 where it appears they conflict with Ephesians 4.
