Pr. Will ParejaThe Gift and the Giver Series
God has given every believer spiritual gifts—not for show, but for service. These gifts come from the same Spirit and are meant to build up the body of Christ. When we use our gifts with humility and love, the church grows stronger, united in diversity, and each of us steps into the purpose God designed for us.

Why Most Churches Get the Gifts of the Spirit Wrong | Word of Mouth PodcastAre the gifts of the Spirit still for today? Absolutely. But what happens when they're misunderstood, misused, or manipulated? In this episode, we dive deep into the purpose, power, and potential abuse of the spiritual gifts — especially the vocal gifts like tongues, interpretation, and prophecy. You'll learn why Paul gave strict instructions in 1 Corinthians, how to discern between the real and the fake, and why order and submission still matter today. If you've ever been confused by the gifts, burned by spiritual abuse, or hungry for real anointing — this conversation is for you.
Send us a textFew topics in the church spark as much debate as the gifts of the Spirit, and particularly that of speaking in tongues. Is it a private prayer language? A sign of the Holy Spirit's baptism? A tool for evangelism? Or something else entirely? In this episode, I try and go beyond traditions and opinions to see what the Bible says. Drawing from 1 Corinthians 14 and the prophecy of Isaiah 28, we explore the original, God-given purpose of tongues — and why using them outside that purpose can confuse rather than build up.We'll see how Paul contrasts tongues with prophecy, why clarity matters in the gathered church, and how Spirit-led teaching can bring conviction, revelation, and worship. And along the way, we'll discover that tongues aren't about spiritual showmanship, but about God's unstoppable desire to make His message heard — in every language, to every heart.Key Scripture: 1 Corinthians 14:20–25 Main Takeaway: God's gifts work best when they are used in God's way — to build up the church and make His presence unmistakable.Support the showTo listen to my monthly church history podcast, subscribe at; https://thehistoryofthechristianchurch.buzzsprout.com For an ad-free version of my podcasts plus the opportunity to enjoy hours of exclusive content and two bonus episodes a month whilst also helping keep the Bible Project Daily Podcast free for listeners everywhere support me at;|PatreonSupport me to continue making great content for listeners everywhere.https://thebibleproject.buzzsprout.com
Send us a textEpisode Notes: In this episode, we explore Paul's teaching on how the gathered church should function when God's people come together. Using 1 Corinthians 14:26–40 as our guide, we unpack why order in worship is not about stifling the Spirit but about making space for every believer to contribute in a way that builds up the body of Christ. We look at:Why every gift matters when exercised in love. How order and clarity help everyone hear and understand God's Word.Paul's reminder that God is not a God of confusion, but of peace.Practical steps for fostering unity, mutual respect, and Spirit-led participation in the local church. This passage calls us to a worship that is Spirit-filled yet orderly — a space where truth is clear, love is evident, and Christ is glorified.Support the showTo listen to my monthly church history podcast, subscribe at; https://thehistoryofthechristianchurch.buzzsprout.com For an ad-free version of my podcasts plus the opportunity to enjoy hours of exclusive content and two bonus episodes a month whilst also helping keep the Bible Project Daily Podcast free for listeners everywhere support me at;|PatreonSupport me to continue making great content for listeners everywhere.https://thebibleproject.buzzsprout.com

This week, Pastor Samuel wraps up our series on the Gifts of The Spirit.
In today's episode, we answer a listener's question about the proper function and purpose of the gifts of the Spirit. It's not surprising that there is often confusion and misuse of the Spirit's gifts. It also happened in the earliest churches, but Pastor Jim will help us better understand what the gifts are, why things sometimes go wrong, and why they are still a gift to the church.
Have the Gifts of the Spirit been forgotten or simply left unopened?

Sunday, July 13, 2025 – Pastor Mike continues the series on the 16 Fundamental Truths of the Assemblies of God Fellowship. Today, we are exploring Fundamental 12 – which is “Divine Healing.” Earlier, it was mentioned that there are a couple of beliefs that distinctly mark our fellowship as Pentecostal: the Baptism of the Holy Spirit with the initial evidence of speaking in tongues is clearly one, and our belief in “Divine Healing” is another. Both of these truths affirm that the “Gifts of the Spirit” evident in the early church are still active today, just as much needed in these last days as they were in the early church’s beginnings. Divine Healing is one of those mysterious beliefs, even for the most mature and dedicated followers of Jesus, because we don’t always clearly understand what God is doing in our lives and those we love. Why does God heal some people and not others? Why do good Christian people have to suffer, while those who live without regard for God seem to avoid pain and suffering? And I’m sure you may have other questions about why God doesn’t always work in the manner or timing that we expect. We will do our best to explore what God has for us during these difficult and confusing times. Here’s what we do know – God loves us, and He is the Healer. Our role is to ask, pray, seek, and trust Him with the rest. Worship and study with us…
