Welcome to the bass ostinatos that sound like dripping acid. Don't worry, you'll understand once I press play on the amazing music that I picked for this Autumn special. Like taking a spin in the washing machine, we love acid, we can feel it and feel it again. This sound is our friend and it takes us to a higher state of consciousness, like fever rays and smelling batine. The leaves are falling full of colors, while we feel love. We feel it again as we discover a track treasure from Poland. Just so glad it found our ears. In Residence With is a podcast series that delves into the creative processes of sound artists during their residencies at Sound Art Lab in Struer, Denmark. Each episode offers an intimate glimpse into the artists' explorations, experiments, and reflections as they develop new work. At Sound Art Lab, Brazilian sound artist Bella Comsom is deepening her research into the electromagnetic fields surrounding trees. Using a handmade antenna, she records these inaudible signals—focusing in Struer on trees growing close to the sea. Each day, she walks along the coast, collecting field recordings and tuning in to the subtle presences of the landscape, reflecting on our relationship with the natural world. Her practice centers on listening as a way to sense the invisible connections between living beings and their environment. As a genre-fluid post-pop duo, Laikka loves to break with the conventions of contemporary electronic pop music. Their music is wild and full of energy and combines the experimental with pop, big drama and catchiness. The duo's live performances are particularly impressive.

In Residence With is a podcast series that delves into the creative processes of sound artists during their residencies at Sound Art Lab in Struer, Denmark. Each episode offers an intimate glimpse into the artists' explorations, experiments, and reflections as they develop new work. In this episode, we meet composer and instrument builder Laurits Jongejan, just as he completes Sun Chariot—a striking 2x2 meter electromechanical instrument assembled from more than 2,000 parts. Drawing inspiration from the Danish Bronze Age and the cryo chambers of quantum computers, Sun Chariot blends aluminum gongs, speaker plates, and mechanical mallets into a sculptural sound machine. Laurits explores his newly born instrument as its metallic resonance marks the beginning of its sonic life. Not built for the stage, but for immersive exploration, Sun Chariot invites us to rethink what an instrument can be. Welcome to the birthday edition of MHIYH. Yes I'm turning 50 next week, which calls for a music celebration with some new tunes and a litttle súrprise. I remodelled the inkjet to fly us into a happiness of strobes. Time to get hard like a smiling worm and release. Your eyes will drink water to the healing tones of a santur and karma will make you a miniboss, as the authorities have failed us. Recovery is near and we fly through a big void and we're gone gone gone, into the music sphere, where we can recognize ourselves. A place where humanity means fairness and kindness. Stefanie Egedy composes music for subwoofers and created a large-scale installation with massive subwoofers at the harbour during Struer Tracks 2025. The Lake's Timmy Olivia Thygesen and Louise Tandrup Esbensen met her in autumn 2024 during her residency at Sound Art Lab in Struer, where she was developing the project BODIES AND SUBWOOFERS (B.A.S.). In this interview, Stefanie talks about her creative process and the ideas behind B.A.S., exploring the physical and emotional power of low-frequency sound.
We meet Maryia Kamarova & Kunrad, two of the artists at this years' Struer Tracks for a chat about their installation “Hulko” exhibited at this year's biennial.
The Lake – Struer Tracks AirChoir no. 2 with Anouk Kellner The Lakes Jan Høgh Stricker talks with Belgian artist and radio producer Anouk Kellner about the origins of Airchoir and the role of the organ in her artistic practice. In Airchoir No. 2: Dirges for (26) Coded Organ Voices, inflatables breathe through organ pipes like living beings, blurring sculpture and sound. Kellner reflects on composing for this unconventional choir, the dualities it evokes, and the role of live activation in shaping the work.

In Residence With is a podcast series that delves into the creative processes of sound artists during their residencies at Sound Art Lab in Struer, Denmark. Each episode offers an intimate glimpse into the artists' explorations, experiments, and reflections as they develop new work. During her residency at Sound Art Lab, Portuguese multimedia artist Júlia Lema Barros is developing Mons Tro—an immersive audiovisual installation inspired by the Danish folklore figure Nøkken. In myth, Nøkken lures people to their deaths with music; in Júlia's piece, it's the seductive pull of natural sounds—wind, water, and trees—that slowly draws the listener in. Drawing from memory, mythology, and the sonic textures of Struer's shoreline, Júlia collects underwater recordings, wind in bottles, and the subtle acoustics of the coast to create a hypnotic world of sound—one that gently pulls the listener under, blurring the line between reality and imagination.

Teratai Åkande – Anton Friisgaard & Putu Septa at Roskilde Festival 2025 We met Balinese electronic composer and gamelan musician Putu Septa, and Danish electronic composer Anton Friisgaard, in a warm caravan backstage at Roskilde Festival 2025. In this conversation, they talk about the musical encounter and the collaboration behind Teratai Åkande, which was performed live on the Platform stage on Friday. Putu Septa also performed earlier in the week with his trio Tridatu, on the same stage Wednesday
We had the pleasure of catching the Danish-Chilean artist, Molina, right after her show at Roskilde Festival 2025! Despite roaring drums and insistent soul-ish vocals leaning in on the space surrounding, we managed to talk a bit about her overcoming perfectionism, finding calm in making music from the comfort of her sofa, and her fascination with flutes and air. Listen in and enjoy!

Photo: Thora Lorentzen
In Residence With is a podcast series that delves into the creative processes of sound artists during their residencies at Sound Art Lab in Struer, Denmark. Each episode offers an intimate glimpse into the artists' explorations, experiments, and reflections as they develop new work. During their residency at Sound Art Lab, Rupert Enticknap explores voice, tuning, and embodied sound through recordings made with neglected pianos in India. These out-of-tune instruments, shaped by climate, time, and colonial histories, become collaborators in Rupert's improvisational process—revealing unexpected resonances and microtonal textures. Working with the voice as both a physical and emotional medium, Rupert's practice investigates how bodies carry sound, memory, and identity. Their work embraces the overlooked—the unstable, the broken, the leftover—as fertile ground for listening and composition. In Residence With is a podcast series that delves into the creative processes of sound artists during their residencies at Sound Art Lab in Struer, Denmark. Each episode offers an intimate glimpse into the artists' explorations, experiments, and reflections as they develop new work. During his stay at Sound Art Lab, composer and sound artist Mads Kjeldgaard created Empty Cloud — a 12-hour generative piece designed to gently dissolve into the background. In this episode, Mads reflects on how a life-altering concussion left him alone in the dark, with tea as his only sensory anchor — and how that slow, quiet world transformed his relationship to time, music, and attention. Drawing from Zen practice and the poetic ephemerality of tea, Empty Cloud emerged not from ambition, but from surrender to stillness, to slowness, and to the space between notes. First of all we need some closure, it's June, we shoot an arrow into the arp blocks. Without music we'd be lost. It's how we understand our emotions. Feel the vibrations up close. In Residence With is a podcast series that delves into the creative processes of sound artists during their residencies at Sound Art Lab in Struer, Denmark. Each episode offers an intimate glimpse into the artists' explorations, experiments, and reflections as they develop new work. In this episode, we meet low-frequency sound artist Stephanie Egedy, who composes music for subwoofers—treating them as sculptural instruments capable of delivering what she calls an “invisible sonic massage.” At Sound Art Lab, she pauses composition to develop a text reflecting on the tactile, emotional, and healing potential of bass. Drawing from club culture and experimental sound, Stephanie's practice explores how low frequencies can bypass language and reach the body directly—offering a form of sonic care. Welcome to this sound journey where we start out by ascending endlessly and effortlessly upwards. We heard it's sweet like honey, and we know how to dress well. It's like the escape before the rain, like a force over the energy field of Medellin, all the way in a swaying rhythm to the caribbean blue. We wanna slow down with our head in the clouds, a dream-like state, avoiding the white lily. Here we are, in the middle of music, wanting to heal. Dino Spiluttini presents the first two volumes of his sound recycling project Angelic Airwaves. Beyond the usual confines of the DJ mix, the project focuses on samples as raw material. Using only sampled build-ups from 1990s trance tracks, reworked acapellas, and his own voice as source materials, Spiluttini creates charged ambiences which ripple, billow and saturate. Voices and pads seep delay-soaked from their song and floor contexts into protracted yearnings for joy, strength and connection. Vienna-based Dino Spiluttini approaches contemporary electronic music with pointed emotional dynamics. His work often displays an anxious or brooding yearning for fulfilment and respite from troubled embodiment, frustrated identity, or worldly unease. Since 2019's Editions Mego release Heaven, which contemplated death, reunion and bodily perfection with choirs, organs, harps and pads, Spiluttini has focussed on a lusher and more tempered approach drawn towards trance euphoria. Tracklist: Dino Spiluttini – Strelok Prism Dino Spiluttini – The Drift Dino Spiluttini – Body Issues II Dino Spiluttini – Apperception Dino Spiluttini – Meridian Glow Dino Spiluttini – Wish Granter Dino Spiluttini – Cobalt Heart Dino Spiluttini – The Lights Stay On Dino Spiluttini – New Haven Dino Spiluttini – Kingdom in the Clouds Dino Spiluttini – Years of Suffering Dino Spiluttini – Everyone is Slipping Backwards

"In this mix, I have put together a selection of personal evergreens, old and new favourites through diverse genres, music from friends and unreleased tracks. From glitchy adventures to hockey fans in Kiev, a swiss german song and of course Moondog, this is a glimpse into the network of sounds that accompanies me." Elischa Heller effortlessly combines electronic music with the gestures of performance art. Delicate, futuristic and emotive melodies, often accompanied by auto-tuned vocals, intersect with high-pitched rapid beats, abundant noise and drones. In this episode we welcome the springtime with no delay. We feel it like a dream come true. The feeling of being lucky in the sun, it's a wild one, and momentarily the void and the unstable condition seem to be in a suite for the invisible. I DM you that it's a lonely fight. Again and again, we dive into it, like it was water, something blue. So many new sounds and known sounds and fine sounds. The taste of rhubarb is developing as we speak. So lean back, take a deep breath and let me play you some of that saving and escaping music that you crave. Like a bath in the sun. Welcome to the anticipation of care in April.
