Villagers of Nearhere are fed up with living under siege of the Stone Dragon, who keeps dropping rocks from the sky! Residents are forced to stay inside, wear a helmet, or suffer the consequences! Smart villager Bookseller offers up a plan: find a brave knight to defeat the Stone Dragon and restore peace to Nearhere. The only problem is nobody in the village knows any knights, so four brave villagers set out to find knights willing to fight the ferocious dragon. After the knights prove to be no help and hope seems lost, a renowned chef shows up and shares the perfect recipe for successfully dealing with the Stone Dragon.

Red Ryder was based on the comic strip "Red Ryder." It first aired on Feb. 3, 1942 on NBC Blue Network (later to become ABC)... broadcast Tues, Thurs, and Saturday each week. Sponsor was Langendorf Bread. Series ended in 1951. Because the series had a young audience, they toned down the violence in the series. Red was mostly a cowhand, but when stories asked for his help he became a deputy sheriff. He never killed his enemies, just shot the guns out of their hands! He had a girlfriend, Jane Bruce. His native American guide and general helper was Little Beaver,played by Tommy Cook,Frank Breseee, and Henry Blair... and more. Roland Rawhide Rollinson was played by Arthur Q O'Bryan. The Red Ryder Victory Club started in 1942 to encourage people in conservation practices that would help the WW II effort and directly boosted the radio show's popularity. Radio: The radio program initially aired on the Blue Network (later known as ABC) from January 16, 1944, to July 8, 1945, it then moved to NBC, where it was broadcast from September 8, 1945, to June 29, 1951. Irving Brecher pitched the radio series for friend Groucho Marx under the title The Flotsam Family, but the sponsor balked at what would have been essentially a straight head-of-household role for Marx. (Marx would get his own series Blue Ribbon Town instead.) Brecher then saw William Bendix as taxicab company owner Tim McGuerin in Hal Roach's The McGuerins from Brooklyn (1942). Radio historian Gerald Nachman quotes Brecher as stating, "He was a Brooklyn guy and there was something about him. I thought this guy could play it. He'd made a few films, like Lifeboat, but he was not a name. So, I took The Flotsam Family script, revised it, made it a Brooklyn Family, took out the flip-flippancies and made more meat-and-potatoes, and thought of a new title, The Life of Riley.
