Author and psychologist Clifford Mayes PhD explains how our American education system is damaging children, discusses Freud and Jung, and how individuals can seek their path of meaning and purpose in life. My website: https://www.ryanholsappleguide.com Dr. Mayes email address: Jabberwocky1400@gmail.com Dr. Mayes Bio: A Jungian scholar, Mayes has produced the first [1] book-length studies in English [2] on the pedagogical applications of Jungian and post-Jungian psychology, which is based on the work of Carl Gustav Jung (1875–1961). Jungian psychology is also called analytical psychology. Mayes' work, situated in the humanities and depth psychology, is thought to offer an alternative to the social sciences model. [3] Mayes has developed what he has termed archetypal pedagogy. His work aims at promoting what he calls archetypal reflectivity in teachers; this is a means of encouraging teachers to examine and work with psychodynamic issues, images, and assumptions as those factors affect their pedagogical practices. Archetypal reflectivity, which draws not only upon Jungian psychology but transpersonal psychology generally, offers an avenue for teachers to probe the spiritual dimensions of teaching and learning in non-dogmatic terms. Mayes' archetypal pedagogy also examines salient issues in curriculum theory and instructional theory through a classically Jungian lens. Recently, his work has turned to what he calls "educative processes," which sees teaching and learning as inherent in all human relationships of any emotional, cognitive, or ethical moment (2020, 2019, 2017).

This is an introduction to an understanding of the psychology of sub-personalities. Many people have said, “a part of me feels...” this way, meanwhile another part of them feels a completely different way. These are very real positions and voices within people. Each person contains many parts or selves within them (Polster, 2005). “They may be biologically or culturally universal like a mothering self, or they may be altogether idiosyncratic, like a coin- collecting self” (Polster, 2005, p. 41). These selves are defined by; nouns, verbs, matter, energy, qualities, traits, coping styles, skills, physical qualities, driving forces, talents, creative inclinations, imaginative tendencies, and spiritual tendencies (Strachan, 2017). These are several different possible dimensions of the self, and or personality that are initially driven by genetic factors.
