In this week's episode I am joined by Jason Andy Joseph. Although there is so much that Jason and I could have chatted about to challenge perspectives, I am thankful that he was willing to share his family's journey from finding out that their youngest would be born with Down's Syndrome, to where they are now that Max is 5 years old. Jason was born in Grenada and raised in Montreal. He's a recreational specialist with over 30 experience with youth in Montreal's communities and a 15 year career as a special education Technician. He is a husband, father of three, and lover of poetry and science fiction.
We are excited to have a special guest Andy Joseph with the Iowa Department of Agriculture. He is also the State's Apiarist. For those of you who may not know what that is its a fancy word for beekeeper. As part of our mission on Midwest Hunting and Outdoors, we are focused on trying to teach others how to set your property up for creation of habitat. This habitat takes on a super important species and that is bees. Andy is super knowledgeable and shares his experience. Today on Mission Supercritical our host Andy Joseph is joined by Paul Muchowski Dr. Paul received a PhD in Biological Structure from the University of Washington and performed post-doctoral training at the Max Planck Institute for Biochemistry. Dr. Muchowski worked as a professor in the medical schools at the University of Washington and the University of California San Francisco, and subsequently in drug development in the pharmaceutical and biotech industries. Dr. Muchowski's research focuses on the molecular basis of neurodegenerative diseases, including Alzheimer's disease, Parkinson's disease and Huntington's disease. He has published >60 highly cited research papers. His lab also published research on the role of the endocannabinoid system in neurodegeneration, showing that it is a critical determinant of the onset and severity of disease in animal models of chronic neurodegeneration.
Andy Joseph, President of Apeks Supercritical, cut his teeth in service of our country, as part of the US Navy’s Nuclear division. The integrity and discipline he learned there stuck with him throughout his varied professional life, which saw him working in manufacturing as a machinist (and even as a UPS package handler!) before ultimately making Apeks Supercritical the industry giant that it is today. Though he may have initially believed he was building machines for “Lavender” extraction, Andy focuses on providing environmentally conscious equipment to properly process flower.
