From his journey into the industry to powerful lessons in process and customer experience, this is a must-watch for anyone in automotive. Connect with Glenn on LinkedIn, and order “The Road to Sold” today. [00:00–01:34] Intro & Guest Introduction Tim opens the episode and introduces leadership coach and automotive expert Glenn Pasch. [01:35–06:27] Glenn's Journey into Automotive Glenn recounts his start in hospitality and acting, how his brother Brian introduced him to digital marketing, and their eventual partnership in founding PCG. [06:28–09:11] How Glenn Met Tim Tim shares a memory of how PCG recognized CarNow early on, giving them a platform at NADA before they had a booth. [09:12–14:02] Thinking Outside the Box Glenn explains how PCG's vendor research reports became an unexpected marketing tool and a trusted resource for dealers and vendors. [14:03–16:30] Launching “The Road to Sold” Glenn introduces his new book, inspired by conversations with Tim. The book emphasizes the need for conversations, not just leads, to drive digital retail success. [16:31–18:29] Why Conversation Matters The discussion shifts to how most dealerships chase leads rather than serve people, and why it's time to evolve the digital sales process. [18:30–22:26] Treating Online Customers Like In-Person Guests Glenn advocates for mirroring in-store service online and eliminating friction to meet customer expectations. [22:27–23:02] Leadership's Role in Change They reflect on how leadership determines whether process changes succeed or fail—and why consistency and accountability are key. [23:03–25:47] From Training to Execution Glenn details the difference between dealerships that talk about change and those that live it daily. [25:48–29:34] Breaking Old Habits & Market Myths Tim and Glenn debunk excuses like “my market is different” and challenge leaders to rethink credit assumptions and embrace process consistency. [29:35–31:29] Adopting Tech with Intentionality They discuss how technology like AI should be thoughtfully implemented, and that customers want faster—not necessarily fully digital—car buying experiences. [31:30–34:36] Closing Thoughts Tim and Glenn wrap up with leadership insights and encourage listeners to evaluate their own commitment to process improvement.

His name is Jeffrey Sanow and he spent years as a Senior Intelligence Office with the CIA. Welcome to Episode 230 where we talk about some books. As this is another tenth episode, we are also hosting a giveaway! One lucky newsletter subscriber will win a paperback copy of our second quarter readalong pick, THE GOOD HOUSE by Tananarive Due. Newsletter subscribers are automatically entered to win our recurring tenth episode giveaways. Chris unexpectedly read the surprise hot book of the season, CARELESS PEOPLE: A Cautionary Tale of Power, Greed, and Lost Idealism by Sarah Wynn-Williams, and is telling everyone to believe the hype. She also read THE EXTENDED MIND: The Power of Thinking Outside the Brain by Annie Murphy Paul, and devoured WOMAN, EATING: A Literary Vampire Novel by Claire Kohda. Emily read two novels that have an unexpected connection, MURDER UNDER HER SKIN: A Pentecost and Parker Mystery by Stephen Spotswood and THE GHOSTWRITER by Julia Clark. She also read two less murdery novels, TELL ME EVERYTHING by Elizabeth Strout and TILDA IS VISIBLE by Jane Tara. One of these she loved and the other was a bit of a departure for a well-loved writer. We discuss the third short ghost story – “The Haunted and the Haunters; Or, The House and the Brain by Edward Bulwer Lytton – in THE PENGUIN BOOK OF GHOST STORIES: From Elizabeth Gaskell to Ambrose Bierce. This one didn't grab us like the last one (pun intended) but we can see how it contributes to the haunted house tradition. In Biblio Adventures, Chris made a guest appearance on Shawn Breathes Books where they discussed FINGERSMITH by Sarah Waters; it is ready for viewing on his BookTube channel. Emily was in Colorado visiting new grandbaby #2, and got to visit two local bookstores: White River Books in Carbondale and Alpenglow Books and Gifts in Glenwood Springs. During a long layover in O'Hare, she also visited several Barbara's Bookstores in the airport. As always, there is more in this episode than we can highlight here, like upcoming reads and jaunts (e.g., THE CAT'S MEOW: How Cats Evolved from the Savanna to Your Sofa by Jonathan Losos, All CT Reads with author Monica Wood, and the Willa Cather Spring Conference). We were so happy to be back together talking about books across the table! We hope you enjoy listening to this episode as much as we enjoyed recording it. Happy Reading! https://www.bookcougars.com/blog-1/2025/episode230

Most landscapers load up their trucks, roll up to a job site, and get to work. But what if your “job site” is a rooftop 40 stories above the streets of New York City—with no easy way to get plants, soil, or even tools up there? That's the daily reality for John Mini Distinctive Landscapes, a team that transforms urban spaces into lush, thriving environments in one of the most challenging places to do it.At the NALP Elevate Conference in Charlotte, I met with Mark Mini and Matt Wessol from John Mini to find out how they pull off these jaw-dropping installations. They've mastered the art of urban landscaping, from carrying materials up staircases in historic high-rises to figuring out how to fit a full-blown landscape into a tiny rooftop. And their clients? They're not your typical homeowners. They're commercial developers, architects, and property managers looking for premium, high-design outdoor spaces in the middle of a concrete jungle. But it's not just about logistics. Mark and Matt share how they've built a company culture that thrives in high-pressure environments, why they call their team “landscaping ninjas,” and what they've learned about problem-solving in one of the most challenging markets in the world. Plus, they reveal their plans for expanding beyond NYC and let's just say they're not stopping anytime soon.Do you want to know how they make it all work and how you can apply their creative problem-solving mindset to your landscaping business? This episode has it all.Watch the FULL episode to learn:
Say thanks and learn more about our podcast sponsor Omnisend. In this episode of the WP Minute+ Podcast, Matt sits down with Tessa Kriesel, a seasoned expert in developer relations and founder of Built for Devs. Once deeply involved in WordPress, Tessa now works with developer-focused companies to help them engage technical audiences authentically. She shares insights on how companies can build trust, engage communities effectively, and think strategically beyond traditional marketing. The conversation examines challenges freelancers and agencies faced in 2024 and what to expect moving into 2025. Tessa discusses the shift in DevRel from casual relationship-building to strategic engagement, the evolving role of AI in development, and how the tech industry is tightening budgets while demanding clear ROI. She also shares advice for WordPress product makers on pricing, sustainability, and community-building. She encourages them to challenge outdated practices like underpricing plugins and relying solely on Black Friday sales.Key TakeawaysThe Role of Developer Relations (DevRel)DevRel isn't just about attending WordCamps and networking; it requires strategy and delivering value.Companies must build authentic relationships with developers while aligning with business objectives.WordPress has a strong community, but other ecosystems also foster deep connections.Challenges in 2024 & Looking Ahead to 2025Economic pressures are causing tech companies to scrutinize spending and demand clear ROI.VC funding has shifted focus from user adoption to revenue generation. The lack of trust in marketing and business interactions makes it harder for companies to gain traction.WordPress & Business GrowthMany WordPress companies still underprice their products, following outdated open-source pricing models.Product makers should focus on value-based pricing rather than low-cost models with limited revenue potential.Relying on Black Friday discounts as a primary sales strategy is shortsighted. Products should be priced for sustainability year-round.The Role of AI in Development & BusinessAI is a powerful tool for efficiency but still requires human oversight.Companies investing in AI-driven solutions must balance automation with trust-building.Developers who integrate AI into their workflows will gain a competitive edge but won't be replaced entirely.Important LinksThe WP Minute+ Podcast: thewpminute.com/subscribeConnect with Tessa KrieselLinkedIn: https://www.linkedin.com/in/tessak22/Twitter/X: https://twitter.com/TessaK22Learn more about Built for Devs: BuiltFor.Dev Support us for as little as $5 to join our members-only Slack group. ★ Support this podcast ★

But just because we're on the Web doesn't make us “net smart”, another term from Rheingold's extensive catalogue of pithy idioms. As anyone with a pocket supercomputer can attest, having information on tap doesn't necessarily result in better attention management, boost our critical thinking, or confer a greater capacity to engage in prosocial collective action…but we can choose to allocate ourselves to developing the skills we need to thrive on this electronic frontier. And who better to help us than Rheingold himself, a legendary figure whose reporting and counsel from the frothy edge can teach us all great volumes about how to deepen our humanity in technologically-augmented worlds.Disclaimer: the audio and video on Howard's end of the recording drifted unevenly and sometimes minutes away from each other…and while I put in several extra days of effort to repair it all, you will notice moments where they don't line up. We humans love novelty. We seek it out. While that can be good, it can also get us in trouble. This episode begins by exploring why we seek out new things, places and experiences and what happens after we do. Source: Winifred Gallagher author of the book New (https://amzn.to/3XsAxRb) Did you know that one of the reasons we gesture with our hands when we talk is to help us figure out what to say next? That is just one example of how thinking isn't all about what goes on in the brain, according to my guest Annie Murphy Paul. She is science writer whose work has appeared in the Boston Globe, Scientific American, Slate, Time magazine and she is author of the bestselling book The Extended Mind: The Power of Thinking Outside the Brain (https://amzn.to/3Hp3k3R) Imagine if you followed and studied a group of people for decades and watched how they lived? You would discover a lot about what makes people healthy and happy over time. That's what The Harvard Study of Adult Development is all about. Researchers have followed the lives of two generations of individuals from the same families for more than 80 years. Listen and you will be amazed by what they found. My guest is Robert J. Waldinger, who directs the study and is author of the book, The Good Life: Lessons from the World's Longest Scientific Study of Happiness (https://amzn.to/3HpbFVc) Where are you on the introvert/extrovert scale? Listen as I explain the difference between extroversion and introversion and how to tell which one you are. You will also discover the difference between being shy and being introverted. "All go to one place; all are of the dust, and to dust all return." Ecclesiastes 3:20. That was true, at least until the Civil War era. Then a desire to preserve bodies led to a new way of dealing with the dead: toxic embalming, water-tight coffins and concrete vaults. For many of us who try to live simple, low-impact lives, our deaths present a dilemma. We can't go simply or sustainably into whatever comes next. But there is another way. Imagine breaking down quickly, wrapped only in a shroud or in a biodegradable casket, eighteen inches under the soil, your nutrients being taken up by a tree. Michael Furniss, soil scientist and green burial enthusiast, is working to make that a reality in Humboldt. Michael joins the show to discuss the green burial movement, the science behind natural burial, and efforts to create a conservation burial ground in Humboldt. For more, check out Sacred Family Groves.Support the show
This episode is from the 2022 Aspen Ideas Festival, but we're bringing it back because it's still as relevant as ever. Though it can sometimes feel like conflict and discord is human nature, our brains are actually predisposed to forming groups and working together. In our individualistic society, we may think our minds stop at our skulls, but when people come together and connect effectively, they actually think in different ways, and they all become smarter and healthier together. Science writer Annie Murphy Paul, the author of “The Extended Mind: The Power of Thinking Outside the Brain,” joins NYU psychology professor Jay Van Bavel for a participatory conversation about uniting people to solve problems and work towards common goals. Again and again, research demonstrates the power of groups, and the panelists help us translate these findings into practical tips for encouraging people to collaborate functionally. New Yorker writer Charles Duhigg moderates the conversation and takes questions from the audience. aspenideas.org

Send me any questions hereJoshua Coombs, founder of Do Something for Nothing, shares his journey of giving haircuts to the homeless and the impact it has had on his life and the lives of others. He started this work out of a feeling of helplessness and a desire to do something to make a difference. Through his interactions with the homeless, he realized the importance of showing up, listening, and treating people with dignity and respect. His work gained attention on social media, leading to a movement of people wanting to do something for nothing. Joshua emphasizes the power of small acts of kindness and encourages individuals to step out of their comfort zones and connect with those in need. He also discusses the misconceptions and stigmas surrounding homelessness and the need for collective action to address the issue. The conversation explores the importance of collective action and compassion in addressing social issues like homelessness. It emphasizes the need for a national effort and a shift in consciousness to prioritize helping those in need. The conversation also touches on the importance of listening, letting go of preconceived opinions, and connecting with others on a deeper level. It suggests that finding purpose and authenticity in life involves being open to new experiences, getting out of one's comfort zone, and quieting the mind through practices like meditation. The purpose of life is seen as being the best version of oneself and connecting to one's authenticity. Support the show

If you are a Christ follower and really study Gods word, there is nothing going on in the world today that should surprise you. Prophesies in the books of Isaiah, Ezekiel, Daniel, and many others including Revelations all talk about the things that are happening today. Jesus himself told us what would happen as we got closer to His return. In this weeks episode we are going to talk about extending hospitality and loving one another in times of trouble.
After the podcast episode I released just before this, I received some feedback from a couple of listeners that I was crazy, delusional. I totally loved it!! If you've been sitting on the fence as to whether or not I, the podcast host Daniel D'Neuville is crazy. I'm here to confirm it AND my wish that you are too... Because you be my people. Here's to the crazy ones. The misfits. The rebels. The troublemakers. The round pegs in the square holes. The ones who see things differently. They're not fond of rules. And they have no respect for the status quo.You can praise them, disagree with them, quote them, disbelieve them, glorify or vilify them.About the only thing you can't do is ignore them.Because they change things. They invent. They imagine. They heal. They explore. They create. They inspire. They push the human race forward.Maybe they have to be crazy. How else can you stare at an empty canvas and see a work of art?Or sit in silence and hear a song that's never been written? While some may see them as the crazy ones, I see genius.Because the people who are crazy enough to think they can change the world, are the ones who do.GET STARTED WITH YOUR MEMBERSHIPWant to go deeper with NLP? "You're a dad of two, you became a dad, your children are little bit older now, they're adult children. And you call yourself the inclusive dad to help make the world a better place for your kids and for other kids as well who have disabilities." "If I do something small each day for inclusion, you do something small and we get that going, other people start doing it, it's just going to be a ripple effect to change the world." "There still is today. I see it all the time. Like there is a level of segregation within the schools where it's like, okay, well, we just need to teach this kid life skills versus teaching them math." "Just because you've always done it some way doesn't mean that's the right way." "She always loved music and choir, so she loved going to choir, being in concerts, doing all that good stuff." An acclaimed science writer on how to upgrade your mind by using more than your head. When you think about thinking, most of us think of it as a supremely solo pursuit. You're in your head, concentrating and cogitating, all by yourself. But the science shows that if you want to improve your thinking, you need to get out of your head. Today we're going to talk about a concept called “the extended mind.” Your mind isn't just in your skull: it's in your body, it's in the people around you, it's in your surroundings. The best thinking requires that you break out of what the writer David Foster Wallace called “the skull sized kingdom” and access these other resources. This may sound abstract, but our guest today makes it very practical. Annie Murphy Paul is an acclaimed science writer whose work has appeared in the New York Times, the Boston Globe, Scientific American, Slate, Time, and The Best American Science Writing, among many other publications. She is the author of Origins and The Cult of Personality, hailed by Malcolm Gladwell as a “fascinating new book.” Currently a fellow at New America, Paul has spoken to audiences around the world about learning and cognition; her TED talk has been viewed by more than 2.6 million people. A graduate of Yale University and the Columbia University Graduate School of Journalism, she has served as a lecturer at Yale University and as a senior advisor at their Poorvu Center for Teaching and Learning. Her latest book is The Extended Mind: The Power of Thinking Outside the BrainIn this episode, we also talk about: How to use your surroundings to think better My favorite of the three areas of this book – thinking with our relationshipsWhy “groupthink” isn't always a bad thing (OR you can say, the benefits of thinking in groups)What she called “extension inequality” – that this benefit of the extended mind isn't available to all peopleRelated Episodes: Ancient Secrets to Modern Happiness | Tamar GendlerFull Shownotes: https://www.tenpercent.com/tph/podcast-episode/anniemurphypaulAdditional Resources:Download the Ten Percent Happier app today: https://10percenthappier.app.link/installSee Privacy Policy at https://art19.com/privacy and California Privacy Notice at https://art19.com/privacy#do-not-sell-my-info.
