Manchester City are the final unbeaten team in this season's league campaign. After Arsenal's shock defeat away to Bournemouth, Liverpool and City kept the pressure up on each other by taking full points in their matches. James is once again flummoxed by VAR decisions, what can or should the English game do to address the current controversy? In this episode of Colney Talk, I unpack Arsenal's disappointing 2-0 defeat at Bournemouth. What should have been a statement of intent turned into a sobering reminder of the Premier League's unforgiving nature. The Arsenal team we've come to expect this season was stifled by Bournemouth's tenacity and our own self-inflicted wounds. Many Gooners approached this game with optimism, hoping for a strong performance. Instead, we were completely thrown off our game. The early red card to Saliba felt like a sucker punch, leaving us playing catch-up for most of the match. Our usual fluid style was disrupted, and we struggled to create meaningful chances. The frustration is palpable, especially considering the individual errors that led to both Bournemouth goals. It's a stark reminder of how quickly fortunes can change in football. However, we must maintain perspective. This is our first league defeat of the season, and our overall body of work remains impressive. So, we must regroup quickly and focus on the next game. The only way is up from here, and this team has shown resilience before.Tune in to this byte-sized pod. Share it with your fellow Gooners. Only way is Up!

An away game at the Vitality Stadium against Bournemouth. Arsenal secured the victory in a combination of good plays, feel-good moment and an unreal atmosphere. Despite the lack of flashy plays, the Gunners were efficient and tight-nit in defending. The win was mainly attributed from tight margins of plays and effective out of possession play, which in turn gave Arsenal the opportunity to capitalize with great quality plays; creating a number of goal-scoring chances. Their discipline paid off as well as eliminating the momentum for Bournemouth to grab something meaningfulOne this episode of Colney Talk podcast, I discussed the key players and situations that gave me more confidence in the approach the team is taking. And how they continue to win in different phases in the game. My top 3 performers showcased their quality as usual. More importantly, they represented the effective teamwork and gameplay in this match. Listen, share and subscribe. Up the Arsenal!
Liverpool were brought back down to earth after last weekend's win over Utd, walking away with nothing at Bournemouth after a 1-0 loss that Tottenham capitalised from in the top four race with a comfortable victory over Forest. After City's narrow win over Crystal Palace the pressure was on Arsenal, and they duly delivered with a top performance that was worthy of more then the 3-0 result at Fulham. Utd were made to work for a point from Southampton at Old Trafford after an early red card for Casemiro saw them play the majority with 10 men. Chelsea made it 3 wins in a row at Leicester.

Fresh off a YOUGE weekend, we start off by discussing a couple top stories -- Copa Libertadores Superfiasco [01:32] and cast our votes for US Male Soccer Player of the Year [05:27] -- before turning first to the EPL where there is plenty to talk about, starting with Spurs/Chelsea [08:28] and winding our way through United/success, Bournemouth/Arsenal and Watford/Liverpool. Next up is a quick Lap Around the World [39:46], including the highlights (and lowlights) from Spain, Germany, Italy and MLS playoffs. Last but not least is a comprehensive preview of Champions League Matchday five [56:21], complete with the best previews and worst predictions for all the most interesting and compelling games coming up this midweek (notably PSG/Liverpool and Spurs/Inter).
SOCCER IS BACK and so is Sam's Army as we start out by running through the biggest and best games in EPL, highlighted by Spurs/Chelsea [3:10], Watford/Liverpool and Bournemouth/Arsenal. Next up is a quick Lap Around the World, focusing on Barcelona visiting Atletico Madrid [43:03}, plus the best of the rest in Germany and Italy, along with what to watch for in MLS conference finals and the Copa Libertadores Superclasico. Last but maybe least we touch on the USMNT/Italy game while reinforcing some notable positives that came out of the wreckage that was 2017 and 2018 for soccer in the US.
