Griffin Warner talks betting for Thursday. Griffin Warner returned to the Pregame.com podcast network and the Straight Outta Vegas AM feed with a compact Thursday card, looking to build on a college basketball win with Tulane on February 11 and push for a second straight result. The slate featured a single English Premier League match, a Copa del Rey semifinal first leg, and a lighter than usual college basketball board, before closing with a best bet and promotional offer. The lone Premier League fixture sends Arsenal across London to face Brentford, with the visitors installed as three quarter goal favorites on the road. Arsenal sit atop the league conversation after consecutive second place finishes in recent seasons and are navigating domestic and European commitments, including the Premier League title race, the Champions League, the Carabao Cup, and an upcoming FA Cup tie. Manager Miguel Arteta has been reluctant to rotate heavily, and squad depth has been tested amid a crowded schedule. Brentford, meanwhile, have been strong at home, earning notable results against bigger sides and benefiting from not competing in Europe. The total is set at two and a half shaded to the over, reflecting Brentford's scoring ability against an Arsenal side that typically controls possession and limits shots. Arsenal generate significant production from set pieces, while Brentford employ a similar approach with long throws and structured restarts. Warner indicated interest in Brentford plus three quarters of a goal, preferring to wait for a potential move to plus one as public support flows toward the league leaders. In Spain, Barcelona visit Atletico Madrid in the first leg of the Copa del Rey semifinals. The two leg format places added emphasis on home performance, with the return match set for Barcelona. Atletico are slight home underdogs at a quarter goal, while Barcelona are favored to advance at minus 252 compared with Atletico at plus 209. The total sits at three and a quarter shaded to the over, consistent with Barcelona's attacking profile and defensive vulnerabilities. Atletico have long projected as a third place side in Spain, guided by an experienced manager and bolstered by increased spending that has shifted them toward a more offensive identity. Warner noted that a strong first leg result is critical for Atletico given the difficulty of the return trip, and expressed measured interest in the home underdog while acknowledging the market respect shown toward Barcelona. The college basketball schedule opens with Kennesaw State hosting Middle Tennessee State, followed by Missouri Valley Conference action including Charleston laying a point to Hofstra and Southern Illinois favored by 12 over Evansville ahead of Arch Madness. Memphis at North Texas stands out as the marquee matchup, with Memphis a one point road favorite and a total of 136.5. North Texas sits outside the current American Conference tournament picture and would benefit significantly from a home win. Memphis have shown recent improvement with victories over UAB and FAU but have been inconsistent and thinner on talent. North Texas, under new leadership after Ross Hodge departed for West Virginia, continue to lean on defense and a deliberate pace. Warner expects tempo control from the home side in what profiles as a grind. Additional matchups include Oregon State catching eight and a half at San Francisco, Belmont laying five to Northern Iowa after Bradley's overtime win, and a series of Big West contests featuring Hawaii, UC San Diego, UC Santa Barbara, UC Irvine, and others. The episode concluded with a promotional code, Jumper20, valid for 20 percent off purchases at Pregame.com through February 23, and a best bet on under 136.5 in Memphis at North Texas, anticipating a low scoring contest dictated by the Mean Green. Jimmy Conrad, Charlie Davies, and Tony Meola dive into Mauricio Pochettino and Jesús Pérez's recent interview on the High Performance Podcast, where the coaching duo talked about targeting a World Cup win, the USMNT lacking basics, and the challenges of managing a player pool spread out across multiple leagues. Alex Zendejas looks like a March lock after a match-winning return for Club América, but does Gio Reyna belong in the same conversation with so few minutes under his belt at Gladbach? The guys debate midfield fits, form vs. talent, and how Poch should handle the situation. Plus: James Rodríguez is officially a Minnesota United player. Is the risk worth it for the Loons? And what does Concacaf's new World Cup qualifying format mean for the USMNT? In this episode I'm joined by Lewis Ambrose to look back at Tuesday night's 1-0 win over Chelsea in the Carabao Cup semi-final second leg. We discuss Chelsea's approach to a game they had to score in, and their decision to essentially nullify the game for an hour, giving them less time to find a goal. Was this an understandable tactical approach from Liam Rosenior, or something of a misstep. We also chat about how Arsenal dealt with the game, leaning into our defensive solidity, before scoring what was a very enjoyable goal right at the end through Kai Havertz to absolutely ensure our pathway to a Wembley final next month. As well as that, there's discussion of what this trophy might mean for the team and the fans after so long without tangible success, and lots more besides. Atlanta Soccer Tonight breaks down what mattered in Atlanta United's preseason win over Lexington SC, focusing on structure, positional relationships, and why cohesion showed up across two different groups rather than just on the scoreboard. Jason Longshore and Madison Crews also dig into Atlanta United's newest signing, Elias Báez, what his profile adds to the left side, and how competition is shaping the roster ahead of the season. Around MLS, the conversation widens to major league movement, including Obed Vargas' move to Europe, San Jose's signing of Timo Werner, and the reported talks linking James Rodríguez to Minnesota United. The show closes with a full 3-4-3, covering Atlanta United's development pipeline, the start of Georgia high school soccer, and global headlines including Arsenal reaching the Carabao Cup final, Barcelona surviving a Copa del Rey scare, Olympic soccer's nationwide footprint in 2028, and the opening stretch of the Copa Libertadores. Our next live show information is HERE!Chelsea are out of the Carabao Cup after a 1-0 defeat to Arsenal, losing the semi final 4-2 on aggregate. Manny and Simon dissect a disappointing night for the Blues and reflect on a tie where, in truth, Chelsea came up short over two legs. The hosts show sympathy for Liam Rosenior's setup, acknowledging the difficult task he faced, while also being honest about the overall performance level. There were some encouraging individual displays, but nowhere near enough quality, control, or cutting edge to turn the tie around against a strong Arsenal side.Attention now turns back to the Premier League as Chelsea prepare for the next league match against Wolves, with the pressure firmly on to respond and steady the ship. The episode also looks ahead to something far more positive, as Manny and Simon preview our next live podcast with Chelsea legend Paul Canoville, taking place in New Orleans for Bluesday on February 6th. A huge weekend ahead with the Chelsea community stateside.
Arsenal are heading back to Wembley.A cagey semi-final second leg against Chelsea unfolded with little rhythm and few clear openings, as the game drifted under a cloud of outside noise and shifting narratives. But beneath the surface, Arsenal remained composed, controlled, and patient. In this episode, the lads break down a night where structure mattered more than spectacle. The conversation focuses on Arsenal's game management, defensive discipline across the tie, and the single moment of quality that settled it — Kai Havertz's calm intervention at the Emirates. There's discussion around missed chances, penalty appeals, and why the performance felt understated rather than dominant. Attention then turns to what reaching Wembley represents in the context of Arsenal's season, the value of the Carabao Cup as momentum, and how the upcoming fixture run could shape what comes next.Part two widens the lens, touching on Pep Guardiola's recent comments, the wider Premier League backdrop, upcoming fixtures, predictions, and a familiar round of Who Am I?A quiet semi-final, settled the Arsenal way.Chapters:(00:00) - Arteta's Non-Negotiables Intro(00:55) - Chelsea 2nd Leg Review: “Nothing Happened…”(02:07) - Chelsea Offered Nothing + Neville Narrative Flip(03:00) - “LinkedIn Liam” Warm-Up Moment + Ref Talk Tee-Up(04:42) - Penalty Shouts + Havertz Goal Obsession(06:22) - Arsenal Chances That Could've Made It Comfy(08:12) - The Winner: Rice Carries, Kai Rounds Sanchez(10:35) - Wembley Feeling + Why The 6-Week Gap Might Help(12:48) - Fixture Run + London-Heavy Schedule(15:54) - Carabao As A Springboard + City Psychological Edge(16:54) - Defensive Shape Returning + “Meeting” Rumours(19:39) - Stats Quickfire + Game-Plan Discussion(21:54) - Standout Players: Hincapié, Madueke, Martinelli(26:06) - Part 2: Who Am I? Nichol and Dean are back with a full match preview as Newcastle United head to the Etihad for the second leg of their Carabao Cup semi-final against Manchester City.
In this episode we look back at the 4-0 win over Leeds at Elland Road on Saturday. We chat about the team selection which saw Kai Havertz start, and help bring a different kind of dynamic to the team's midfield set-up, with Declan Rice and Martin Zubimendi playing distinct roles too. We also discuss Noni Madueke, a late call-up after Bukayo Saka's warm-up injury, and his contribution with an assist and a belatedly awarded goal. In the second half Viktor Gyokeres missed a chance but also tucked one away well, there were important cameos off the bench from Martin Odegaard, Gabriel Martinelli and Gabriel Jesus, and a resounding win was made more impactful by the points Man City dropped yesterday. In part 2 we have questions about Mikel Merino's injury and whether or not Arsenal will move in the market before this evening's deadline, potential beneficiaries of the Spaniard's absence, Declan Rice, Ethan Nwaneri, tomorrow's night Carabao Cup semi-final, and lots more. A very enjoyable weekend of football in the Premier League that included comebacks, momentum shifts and late drama and some FPL haulers too in the likes of (substitute) Joao Pedro and the Liverpool pair of Florian Wirtz and Hugo Ekitike. Pedro and other Chelsea assets will take on greater appeal should they overturn their Carabao Cup deficit at Arsenal. The team that progresses now has a confirmed Double Gameweek in 26 and that may influence forthcoming moves with both have attractive fixtures this weekend too. But Chelsea were given a big scare against West Ham, The Blues completed one of a number of comebacks this weekend, as did Liverpool against Newcastle and Tottenham showed fight to come back from two down against Manchester City, who slipped further behind Arsenal. Whilst Manchester United let their own two goal advantage slip, but still won, with Bruno Fernandes again returning well for those who captained him, and he's likely to be even more popular this forthcoming weekend. All the games covered as usual and all the key FPL points deliberated. On today's episode of The Transfer Flow, Patrick and Ted run through transfer deadline chaos and a genuinely weird Premier League weekend. We start with the biggest rumours flying around late in the window, including Curtis Jones to Inter (and why stats people have always loved him), Ademola Lookman's move to Atlético, Jean-Philippe Mateta's failed medical, and the increasingly strange career arc of Jhon Durán. From there, we dig into Spurs' comeback draw against Manchester City and why Pep's side still look incapable of controlling games for 90 minutes. We also talk Liverpool's recent surge, whether Florian Wirtz and Xavi Simons have finally cracked the Premier League learning curve, and why City's second-half numbers should worry everyone. We wrap up with Chelsea's worrying trendlines under Liam Rosenior, how much beating Napoli matters for him, and what it would take for Chelsea ownership to make a change. Champions League top eight qualification and the gap to the Premier League leaders down to four points... You'd have to say that's a pretty good week for Manchester City, all told. David Mooney is joined by Joe Butterfield from The City Ramble and Adam Carter from StatCity.co.uk to discuss the wins over Wolves and Galatasaray. That being said, there's a couple of bogey teams up next in the league at a pair of grounds that are, frankly, cursed when City go to visit... So how will that picture look in a couple of weeks? Jack from Rule The Roost joins the show to tell us about Spurs this season so far, plus we'll look ahead to next week's Carabao Cup semifinal second leg with Newcastle. And as the squad continues to evolve, we discuss Oscar Bobb's departure and the options in the team for the final months of the season following some key players returning to fitness to join the two new signings.==========To get more podcasts or to listen without the ads, join our Patreon. The Champions League league phase closed out in full Matchday Mayhem, and the boys are here to break it all down. Jimmy Conrad, Charlie Davies, and Tony Meola unpack an unhinged UCL matchday 8 that concluded with a dramatic goalkeeping goal for Benfica - and of course Tony has strong opinions about it (05:54)! Marvin Dills became the latest American to make his bow in the competition (10:55). Malik Tillman stole the show with his second brace of the competition (11:54), while Folarin Balogun and Weston McKennie went head-to-head in a tense scoreless draw as Monaco and Juventus moved on (18:10). Club Brugge added insult to injury for Tim Weah and Marseille (27:21), and it was heartbreak for Sergiño Dest and Ricardo Pepi as PSV crashed out (35:15). The crew then looks ahead to the Champions League Knockout Playoffs, breaking down potential matchups for the Americans still standing (34:37), before shifting their focus to today's Europa League action (40:30). And finally, it's time for a USMNT attacking midfield check-in (47:17). With Mauricio Pochettino's depth chart taking shape, the guys dig into the club form of Gio Reyna and Brenden Aaronson, debating where each stands heading into the next international window (59:10).
