The Premier League continues this weekend with a full offering of interesting games. The weekend is bookended by big six matchups that see Chelsea head to Liverpool and Manchester United travel to Arsenal. Chelsea and Liverpool sit ten points off fourth place United. With the Champions League being such an important competition for the big clubs to qualify for, both teams will desperately want to win and close the gap. After a slow start to life under Erik Ten Hag, Manchester United have started firing on all cylinders and see themselves comfortably in fourth. A win away at league leaders Arsenal could see United's title challenge well and fully on; can Arsenal avoid a second defeat to United this year? West Ham/Everton and Bournemouth/Nottingham Forest have 'relegation rumbles' this weekend. Wins for any of the teams in these match ups will help significantly in the clubs hopes for Premier League football next season. The FA Cup returns this week for the Premier League teams as they enter the Cup in the Third Round Proper. How will the big guns of England fare as they embark in the most famous football cup competitions in the world. Ten Premier League teams have been drawn against each other, seeing one of the larger shares of EPL on EPL ties the boys from RCR can remember. The highlight of the weekend is probably the quick rematch between Chelsea and Manchester City. The Citizens were victorious in the Premier League mere days before the two clubs meet again in the Cup. Will Graham Potter and Co be able to make amends for their slip up in the league or will City be victorious twice over? League leaders and the club to have lifted the trophy the most times Arsenal, who were knocked out of the cup in this round last year, will travel to League One Side Oxford United. Current holders Liverpool will face Wolves; both clubs having less than stellar league seasons thus far could use some joy in the cup. Boxing day is a special day on the English football calendar. Especially exciting this year because the domestic calendar was interrupted by the 2022 World Cup in Qatar. Boxing Day is the first round of fixtures for the clubs as the league season restarts. Arsenal, still 5 points clear at the top of the table will look to continue their impressive start to the season as they host West Ham. Manchester City, who currently sit second will not actually play until Wednesday as Pep and the men travel to Leeds. Elsewhere, Chelsea face Bournemouth at the Bridge and Tottenham travel across town to Brentford. Leicester City welcome Newcastle to the King Power stadium in a match that should be a good one. A recurrent theme in the conversation this week is how this restart almost feels like the start of a new season. All the groups have had two games played thus far and surprisingly only two teams have been eliminated to this point. The hosts Qatar and Canada have failed to pick up any points in either of their first two games and will not be able to continue into the knock out stages. With that being said, all the other are up in the air and all the remaining teams have some path (though some small) to the round of 16. With that being said, this week the boys are joined by none other than England's number one supporter- Joel. Joel and the guys work to break down all the groups and see which are the most interesting. A more thorough and in depth look at group B follows - for obvious reasons. Manchester United is the gift that keeps giving. Even with all their major players away at the Qatar 2022 World Cup, Manchester United have sacked Cristiano Ronaldo and the Glazer Family - current owners of United - have begun the process of selling the club. The two biggest clubs in English football, both currently owned by American investment groups, have been put up for sale over the course of three weeks. Are both of these situations mere coincidence or is this the result of the ESL failing to take off? The Glazers could be in for a huge payday, if they can manage to find the right buyer for the club. Meanwhile in Qatar, games are ongoing. Upsets have taken place and teams are looking to secure points over the weekend to help bolster their shot at advancing to the knockout stage of this World Cup. Friday sees pivotal matches in Group B take place with England and the USA squaring off while Wales and Iran lock horns. If the USA can secure a point against one of the best teams on the planet, will they be able to squeak through and qualify? Find out what the boys think of this match. Generally speaking, the World Cup is always a time to get excited about the upcoming tournament. All the best players coming together and non-stop action for almost three weeks straight. Its hard to beat...in most years; but this year feels different. The World Cup is interrupting the league seasons by being held in November/December, there were well documented accounts of human rights violations and worker mistreatment towards the migrant workers who came an build the stadiums, and there have been reports already that Qatari officials have been restricting the activities of reporters. So this could be the most interesting World Cup in some time. But, football will be played. And we here at Red Card Radio really, really enjoy football. So we'll be watching and breaking it down for you all month. From three friends who support the USA, you might be able to guess who we're pulling for. But in this episode, we go through all the groups, pick which teams are advancing, pick the winners of the knock out stages, and finally pick a winner of the whole thing. Take a listen to our picks and make fun of us accordingly. Drop a comment below and let us know who you think will win it all in Qatar. The moment we've all been dreading is finally upon us. The league season is on hiatus until the small affair of the World Cup is taken care of. Before we can switch our attention in earnest to the World Cup, we need to put a bow on the first three/eights of the league season. Most teams have played 15 games and Arsenal sit upon the throne of the Premier League, five points clear of the former champions Manchester City. Newcastle United, probably the biggest surprise of the season, sit in third just above Tottenham who round out the top four. Nottingham Forest, Southampton, and Wolves make up the relegation zone. Will any of these teams be able to save their season and make their way out into safety? Find out what the boys have got as they wrap up the pre World Cup season. The final matches of the Premier League schedule are upon us this weekend before the World Cup break kicks off. National team coaches are announcing their picks for their teams World Cup Rosters and Brad thinks this could have a big impact on this weekends round of fixtures. Will players selected to participate in Qatar 2022 play as hard as they have been to be selected or will they reserve some effort in order to avoid an injury? Will managers reduce the load of those players going to Qatar? But overall, will Arsenal be able to hold off City going into the break and retain the top spot? Can Chelsea steady the ship with a much needed win - thought their opponent, Newcastle, is looking to push on for a top four finish? Can Liverpool, United, and Spurs find results going into the break? How will the relegation zone look after we've played roughly 15 matches and will those teams languishing in the drop zone be able to use this upcoming break to great affect? All these questions remain and the way they are answered is on the pitch! Brad's finally back to help us break down the full weekend of Premier League action. Brad's return couldn't have come at a better time to take a look at the train wreck that is Chelsea FC. After winning their Champions League group, they proceeded to get beaten handily by Graham Potter's previous side, Brighton. Elsewhere, City kept the pressure up on Arsenal by winning on Saturday - to which Arsenal replied in kind on Sunday. Newcastle United continued their hot form, putting four past managerless Aston Villa. Spurs eeked out a last minute winner away to Bournemouth to keep pace with those around them. In probably the most shocking result of the weekend, Leeds got a late winner at Anfield to secure three huge points in their battle for safety. Elsewhere, Arsenal and Spurs have 'winnable' games against promoted clubs Nottingham Forest and Bournemouth respectively. Most leagues are really pressing on to get as many games played before the World Cup break starts in just a few weeks. This resulted in what was was a fairly light week for news around our beautiful game. However, France Football's yearly award presentation for the Ballon D'or for men and women, the award for the best young player, goalkeeper, and best team was held this week. The bright lights were shinning in Paris while the royalty of European football descended upon the French capital to see who would walk away with these coveted prizes. But, does RCR think France Football got them right? Find out if the boys thought this was akin to the glitz and glamour of the Oscars or the muck and slime of the Nickelodeon awards. With ten games in the books for most clubs, its time for us to start critically looking at the League Table. Arsenal are still at the top and with Manchester City dropping points at Liverpool, are starting to build a small gap. Four points now separate the first place team from the second (and third). How well can Arsenal, City, and Tottenham see out the last few matches before the Wold Cup break. Follow along this week as the boys break down the Liverpool/City, Villa/Chelsea, and Leeds/Arsenal games. Match week 10 is in the books which means nine games at most have been played by most teams. #arsenal welcomed #liverpool to north London Sunday for what may have been the best game in the league so far this year. A back and forth affair saw Arsenal take the lead twice and Liverpool equalize twice before Arsenal finally found a winner through Saka's penalty. The result saw Arsenal recapture the top spot in the League after #manchestercity dominate performance against Southampton. Bournemouth have heaped more misery on Leicester, leaving Brendan Roger's side languishing in twentieth. #chelsea have finally made their way back into the top four, securing a victory against Wolves - which leaves Wolves in the relegation zone. Door Bumper Clear returns from Bristol Motor Speedway after the NASCAR Cup Series Round of 16 cutoff race. Cup Series driver Justin Haley joins his spotter Brett Griffin, along with T.J. Majors and Freddie Kraft to talk about his 12th-place finish and working with Brett. To start Spot On, Spot Off, NASCAR didn't throw a caution for Brad Keselowski but threw one quickly for Christopher Bell late on Saturday night. T.J. breaks down what happened to the No. 6 car and why neither incident warranted a caution. Next, the guys discuss Denny Hamlin's tweet about needing an improved Next Gen car. Haley talks about how the rules limit teams being able to make improvements and how Kaulig Racing compares to bigger organizations personnel-wise. Hear whether the spotters agree with Hamlin and why the short track product is struggling. Brandon Jones didn't move Noah Gragson for the Xfinity Series win at Bristol, the week after announcing he's taking over the No. 9 next season. Jones said that didn't cross his mind once during the race and the crew reacts to the finish. They explain the points opportunity Jones missed and why he should have won the race. Richard Childress Racing announced Kyle Busch to the No. 8 car next season and how they plan to run Tyler Reddick in a third charter next season. The guys theorize why RCR isn't planning to have Reddick drive for them next year and what his 2023 may look like. Finally, NASCAR released the 2023 Cup schedule eight weeks before the end of the season despite only making two track changes. Brett explains how this puts the teams' sponsorship discussions at a disadvantage and what other changes they would have liked to see. In Reaction Theatre, fans call in about South Carolina losing to Georgia, celebrating Chris Buescher's win and a song about Noah Gragson throwing up. Later in the show, the gang makes playoff predictions for the Round of 12 in the Cup Series and why one driver stands out as the Xfinity Series title favorite. It's winner's week on Door Bumper Clear as Freddie Kraft celebrates Bubba Wallace's victory at Kansas Speedway with Brett Griffin, T.J. Majors, and Xfinity Series race winner Noah Gragson joins the show. They discuss Noah's fifth win of the year, a prank war with former crew chief Dave Elenz, working with crew chief Luke Lambert, moving to the Cup Series next year, his not always so serious approach off the track and how he started racing. Freddie talks us through how Wallace came alive late in the race to take a commanding victory and shares what happened at the after party. Plus, hear how TJ nearly messed everything up. To begin Spot On, Spot Off, the Xfinity Series race restarted with two laps to go in Stage 2 despite reports of rain. The guys debate if the track conditions were safe to make it to halfway and talk about a certain spotter and driver that didn't want it to see go green. Next, the guys discuss the 15 points separating 10th through 15th place in the playoff standings heading into the Bristol Motor Speedway cutoff race. Find out if they think another non-playoff driver can win and how aggressively drivers below the cutoff line need to race. Gragson shares his input on how he expects Bristol to race with the new car and how aggressive playoff drivers might be. Kyle Busch reportedly signed with Richard Childress Racing for next season. The crew applauds RCR's signing, questions the future of Kyle Busch Motorsports, and theorizes where Tyler Reddick will race next year. Then, the gang talks about North Wilkesboro Speedway hosting the All-Star race in 2023. They predict how quickly the race will sell out and discuss FOX wanting the race's location to rotate. Plus, Brett shares his insight on when the 2023 schedule will be released and what tracks could be losing races. Kevin Harvick sounded off on drivers safety concerns with the Next Gen car at Kansas. Gragson explains why he applauds Harvick being outspoken, details crashes he's had in the car this season, and talks about how his concerns about wrecking are impacting his performance. In Reaction Theatre, fans call in to congratulate Bubba and Freddie, ask Noah about his run in with Jeb Burton, and one fan plays a song for Bubba's haters.  Thank you to our presenting sponsor Offerpad and partners Xfinity and RacingUSA.com for making this show possible.   To learn more about listener data and our privacy practices visit: https://www.audacyinc.com/privacy-policy Learn more about your ad choices.
