Welcome back to the Always Bayern Chelsea show for the 118th episode. We've finally caught our breath and are able to review the thrilling DFB Pokal first round match where Bayern Munich narrowly beat 3. Liga side Wehen Wiesbaden 3-2, advancing in the tournament. We hit all the stops in this episode also talking about the potential Nico Jackson transfer AND previewing the upcoming Bundesliga matchup between Bayern Munich and FC Augsburg as well as the English Premiere League matchup between Chelsea and Fulham. We kick things off with an introduction and a FULL breakdown of the big German Cup opening round matchup for Bayern Munich against Wehen. We talk about Kompany's varied lineup/tactics and why we were fans of integrating youngsters into the mix for this one. Then we talk about all of the match highlights, scoring/substitutions, player performances, and give out match awards. Everything looked to be going to plan for the Bavarians when Harry Kane scored a penalty, and Michael Olise scored putting them up 2-0. Things then went off the rails as Bayern missed chances & allowed two goals when the defense fell asleep. Luckily Kane came to the rescue in the closing seconds of the match scoring the third and final goal of the match assisted by Josip Stanišić. We then dive into a full preview of Bayern's Bundesliga clash this weekend with FC Augsburg. We break down what we foresee Kompany to roll with as the Starting XI, potential tactics, key players to watch in this one, and of course a prediction of the final score. Then, we break down the rumors swirling around Chelsea striker Nico Jackson and that he may be on his way to Munich for a loan deal. What would this mean for both teams? Finally, we close out by previewing Chelsea's EPL matchup with Fulham. We talk about past matches, who Enzo Maresca may roll with, tactics/strategies, as well as important players to watch out for. Welcome back to this glorious Always Bayern Chelsea show episode. This episode is especially huge for us because Bayern Munich opened up their Bundesliga season with a completely dominating showing winning 6-0 over RB Leipzig while Chelsea beat West Ham 5-1 in the English Premiere League shortly after giving us an 11-1 win on the day! This episode of the show features Danny breaking down the Bayern Munich match as Jim is out of town. But fret not Chelsea fans, Jim will give you Chelsea coverage before long. Danny kicks things of by setting the stage with an introduction. After that it's straight into reviewing Bayern's massive Bundesliga opener at the Allianz Arena verus a strong Leipzig side. Vincent Kompany's squad did not hold back scoring 6 goals while keeping a clean sheet. Danny makes sure to break down Vincent Kompany's lineup and tactics as well as all of the match highlights, player performances, and scoring/substitutions. There were goals galore, Michael Olise scored a brace, Luis Diaz scored a goal in his inaugural Bundesliga match, and Harry Kane scored a hat trick. Serge Gnabry and Luis Diaz both had two assists and Kim Minjae had the final assist. Overall it was a legendary game. Danny classically forgets to hand out match awards but be sure to check out the comments section for the full awards in all of their glory. Next up for Bayern Munich is a midweek showdown with SV Wehen Wiesbaden in the DFB pokal. Then it's back to the Bundesliga for a matchup with FC Augsburg. Chelsea has Fulham in the EPL next weekend. Jack is joined by John (aka Lilywhite Rose) for this week's Thursday Q&A, where the frustration of the collapsed Eberechi Eze deal takes centre stage. With Arsenal swooping in at the last minute, was this another case of Daniel Levy's drawn-out negotiations costing Tottenham, or is there any comfort to be found in missing out? John brings his expertise on Spurs' academy to the table, discussing the progress of Alfie Devine and Jamie Donley and whether either could have played a role in solving Tottenham's need for a number 10. Listener questions also spark debate on Luca Williams Barnett, Arsenal's Max Dowman, and the best young talent John has ever seen come through the Spurs academy. The pod closes with a spirited defence of Harry Kane because some things never change. Theme music is Ghost Cat by Gillen. Learn more about your ad choices. Visit podcastchoices.com/adchoices

Welcome to the Always Bayern Chelsea show. BAYERN MUNICH ARE FRANZ BECKENBAUER SUPER CUP CHAMPIONS. FOOTBALL IS BACK. We cover it all in this episode of the show. We kick things off with a beautiful rendition of “Feeling Good”. Then, we dive into Bayern Munich's incredible 2-1 victory over VFB Stuttgart to pick up their first trophy of the season. Tensions are rising between Bayern Munich and Stuttgart as Stuttgart remain firm on holding Nick Woltemade captive despite the player's desire to move to Bavaria and Bayern Munich offering over double his current market value to make the move happen. In this episode we break all of that down and we look at Vincent Kompany's tactics, lineup, match highlights, scoring/substitutions and even hand out player awards. Harry Kane opened up the scoring in this with a wonderful goal while Luis Diaz found the dagger late assisted by Serge Gnabry. Heck of a performance by Manuel Neuer and Dayot Upamecano as well. Next, we move over to Chelsea Football Club for their disappointing English Premier League home opener draw to Crystal Palace 0-0. We break down Enzo Maresca's lineup/tactics, match highlights, scoring/substitutions, and of course hand out match awards. While Chelsea's defenders held strong lead by Reece James and a clean sheet from Robert Sanchez, the attack lead by Cole Palmer was extremely lackluster. Chelsea hope to move past this one when they take on West Ham on Friday 8/22. Bayern Munich plays their first Bundesliga match on the same day against RB Leipzig. Stay tuned for full coverage of those matches and of course don't forget to listen for our special shoutout to HULL CITY in this one. Scott Parker's side were praised for their defensive solidity in the Championship, but the Premier League is a different story. Tottenham are now without Harry Kane and Son Heung-min, yet may already have a couple of new heroes in their ranks. Mohammed Kudus and Richarlison combined brilliantly for two impressive goals, including an absolute worldie from the Brazilian, before Brennan Johnson sealed the win with a neat finish. With the new season fast approaching, we take a hard look at Tottenham's squad depth and where the concerns really lie. Is there any point still getting angry about the way Daniel Levy and ENIC run the club, or is this simply who they are? We also talk through Harry Kane's “exclusive” interview on the Spurs website and why it was such an odd move from the club, even if it didn't exactly wind us up. We also look ahead to the UEFA Super Cup final against PSG and why there's every reason to stay hopeful, even with the odds stacked against us. It's not easy to put into words what Son Heung-Min has meant to Tottenham Hotspur. For ten years, he wasn't just a player—he was the beating heart of the team, the grin that broke through even the darkest days, and the spark that turned a half-chance into a moment of magic. When Son arrived from Bayer Leverkusen in 2015, few outside Germany truly understood what Spurs had signed. He quickly introduced himself not with noise, but with relentless effort and devastating pace. In a squad evolving under Mauricio Pochettino, he carved out a role as a fan-favorite not just because of his goals, but because of how he played the game: fast, fearless, and always with a smile. Over his decade in North London, Son became one of the most beloved players in the club's modern history. He reached the 100-goal mark in the Premier League—a feat only a handful have achieved—and he did it without penalties, without ego, and with unwavering humility. His partnership with Harry Kane became the most prolific duo in Premier League history. Their understanding bordered on telepathy, their mutual respect clear. Kane was thunder; Son was lightning. But Son was more than numbers. He was moments. That solo goal against Burnley in 2019, gliding past half their team before slotting it home. The last-minute winners. The clutch performances in North London Derbies. The loyalty during difficult seasons. In a team that often flirted with greatness but fell just short, Son's consistency was a rare constant. Off the pitch, he was a model professional. No scandals, no dramas—just hard work and class. He carried the hopes of a nation, too, becoming South Korea's most prominent footballer and a global ambassador for the game. He handled that pressure with grace. As he now leaves Spurs, he does so as a legend. Not just because of his goals or assists, but because he represented everything Tottenham fans want from a player: talent, passion, loyalty, and joy. There will be other wingers, other scorers, other stars. But there will never be another Sonny. 감사합니다, Sonny. Thank you for everything. Plus: Find out how to WIN a signed Europa League Mickey van de Ven shirt — exclusive to Echo of Glory members!

Welcome to the Always Bayern Chelsea show. The 105th episode of the show sees Danny flying solo ranking all of the individual players that have been linked to Bayern Munich in the summer 2024/2025 transfer window on a tier list from S all the way to D. Subscribe to the Always Bayern Chelsea YouTube channel to stay up to date with all of the latest transfer news, previews, breakdowns, predictions, and so much more. Danny kicks things off with a short introduction previewing all of the cool incoming videos and plans that Always Bayern Chelsea has on the docket. He then goes into detailing looking at all the players that Bayern Munich has been linked to this transfer window and rating them via a tier system. Many things go into these rankings including a players talent level, floor and ceiling, as well as how well they will fit into Bayern Munich's current system under manager Vincent Kompany. He also looks at whether or not Bayern has a plan for these players going forward. He's predicting S or A tier players to instantly improve Bayern Munich's chances at winning multiple trophies and making a deep run in European competitions this upcoming 2025/2026 season, while C or D tier players might not have a role on the team at the moment or would likely only be used as depth pieces. Some players discussed like Florian Wirtz, Nico Williams, and Bradely Barcola will not be joining Bayern this season while others like Luis Diaz or Nick Woltemade seem to have a better shot. Danny mostly talks about attacking players since Bayern's main transfer strategy at the moment seems to be around filling that hole at LW as well as finding someone to back up Jamal Musiala and Harry Kane. The Bavarians will be losing Leroy Sane and Thomas Muller and are looking to fill those shoes and bolster the attack. Other players discussed include Chelsea's Christopher Nkunku, Xavi Simons, Rafael Leao, Eberechi Eze, Kaoru Mitoma, Marcus Rashford, Leandro Trossard, Rodrygo, Cody Gapko, and more! He even talks about the transfers that have already been done like Tom Bischof and Jonathan Tah. Subscribe to the YouTube channel to stay updated! Drop us a comment with your thoughts! Hello Rank Squad! It's that time of the year where amidst all the trophies being handed out, thoughts turn to who are the frontrunners in the race for the biggest individual prize in the game - France Football's yearly Ballon d'Or. Last year the award came with a whole thunderstorm of controversy, with Real Madrid boycotting the ceremony after Rodri won the top prize over Vinicius Jr. They probably don't need to worry that much this year - we'd be surprised if there were any Los Blancos stars anywhere near the podium - but the absence of both Vini and Rodri from the frontrunners opens up some interesting discussions. We dive deep on where we think the current positionings are for the likes of PSG's Ousmane Dembele, Gigi Donnarumma and Achraf Hakimi, as well as Barcelona's Lamine Yamal, Raphinha, and Pedri - as well as the individual pace-setters like Mo Salah, Lautaro Martinez, Kylian Mbappé, and Harry Kane; before we also take a quick look at the Kopa Trophy candidates in Part Three. Before that, there's a return for Things We Love, where Dean discusses a big summer ahead for Arsenal in the transfer market, and Jack takes a quick look at a wonderful season at Balaidos for Celta Vigo, under the stewardship of Claudio Giraldez. It's Ranks! And remember, if you'd like more from the Rank Squad, including extra podcasts every Monday and Friday (including our weekly Postbox taking a look at the whole weekend of football) and access to our brilliant Discord community, then why not join us here on Patreon?
