Fulham have not got a great history against Arsenal at the Emirates, never having won there, but it was a game that added insult to injury. After a dire weekend for Fulham in the FA Cup, there was hope that the team could allow us to half forget our woes but Saka's inevitable narrative turned up to sour them again. Jack Collins and Elizabeth Barnard take a look back at Fulham's 2-1 defeat to Arsenal in the week. They dissect Silva's decision to revert to five at the back, bringing Cuenca back into the starting line-up. Was this decision mainly made in order to rest tired players in Bassey and Iwobi or did it risk Fulham's result too much? A huge miss from Muniz meant that a short come-back in the second half remained unfruitful. The debate for Raul or Rodrigo to start remains in place for the game against Liverpool. In part two, they look forward to Liverpool, discussing how the team should set-up in order to put in a performance to at least test the league leaders, and they answer some of your listener questions. Why are Fulham still holding on to Reiss Nelson whilst he's injured? Which younger players around Europe should Fulham be looking to sign in the future?--SHOW-LINKS:If you enjoy Fulhamish, please consider contributing a small amount monthly to help pay our costs. It's the international break yet again, but for the last time this year - thank God. Jack and Joe return to the podcast feed to grace us with their Fulham wisdom, reflecting on the glorious week that saw two London derby victories. They wrap-up reactions to a stunning afternoon at Selhurst Park and discuss Fulham's flying start to the season that gives fans plenty of reasons to be optimistic. They delve into some squad debates, posing the question as to whether Lukic will immediately return to the starting XI. There is praise for Reiss Nelson's performances and consideration of possible opportunities for some activity during the January transfer window. -- SHOW-LINKS: If you enjoy Fulhamish, please consider contributing a small amount monthly to help pay our costs. The Thursday Club is back to analyse what's going on with Fulham, as the club sit prettily in the Top Six after six games in the Premier League. Alright, it's early, but we're gonna take these whilst we can. Peter Rutzler joins Sammy and Jack to examine whether we think Fulham have actually firmly hit their stride yet, and have a final look at an ugly, but impressive win over Nottingham Forest at the City Ground. Then it's onwards to the weekend, and it's nothing major - only a trip to Manchester to face Champions Manchester City at the Etihad - a team that Fulham have lost to 16 times in a row. Could this be the moment, with Kevin de Bruyne and Rodri injured - that Fulham end our Cityzen nightmare? Maybe, but probably not. We finish with a couple of your emails, and an incredible This'll Catch On entry for Reiss Nelson from one of our favourite ever contributors. -- SHOW-LINKS: If you enjoy Fulhamish, please consider contributing a small amount monthly to help pay our costs. Newcastle have been Fulham's bogey team for years, but today the Fulhamish team celebrate a much-needed 3-1 win against Newcastle at Craven Cottage, finally breaking the Toon hoodoo. With goals by Raul Jimenez, Emile Smith-Rowe, and Reiss Nelson, and impressive performances across the park, there's a lot to be optimistic about. In part two, we take a bunch of listener questions, including about the role of Sander Berge in this team, Raul's renaissance, and what predictions we have for the season based on what we've seen so far. -- SHOW-LINKS: If you enjoy Fulhamish, please consider contributing a small amount monthly to help pay our costs. Well, that's a record anyway - the longest penalty shootout in English domestic football history, and of course Fulham ended up on the wrong side of it. After a frustrating 90 minutes of action against Preston North End at Deepdale, Fulham's heavily rotated XI weren't able to find a winner, and thus ensued one of the most typical stories you could imagine. We take a look back at the game as a whole, examining the performances of a number of players for better and for worse - Ryan Sessegnon, Reiss Nelson, Rodrigo Muniz, Tom Cairney, Harrison Reed, Sander Berge, Issa Diop, Jorge Cuenca and Steven Benda - before touching on the penalty shootout that dominated the headlines this morning for good measure. Then we head onwards to Newcastle at the Cottage this weekend - traditionally a game we always struggle in - and take a look at what changes Marco could make, and how we can win the individual battles against a Magpies side that haven't been playing brilliantly, but keep finding results nonetheless. There's a quick email to address leadership in this group, before we finish with a special This'll Catch On written specifically about the Drama at Deepdale last night. The discussion on this podcast should have been one only of positivity - as Fulham on Saturday were by far the better team against Julen Lopetegui's West Ham, but instead there was an air of frustration after a late lapse in concentration allowed Danny Ings to score a 94th minute equaliser. In this podcast we dissect Joachim Andersen's return, Raul's well-taken goal, Reiss Nelson's debut and of course, the game management that cost Fulham two points. We also look ahead to the Carabao Cup match against Preston North End on Tuesday. -- SHOW-LINKS: If you enjoy Fulhamish, please consider contributing a small amount monthly to help pay our costs. The Thursday Club reconvenes as club football returns, with Sammy and Jack talking about the performances of our International Whites - including a screamer from Harry Wilson for Wales, Fulham vs Fulham as Joachim's Denmark beat Sasa's Serbia, and Josh King captaining the England U19s. We also discuss the Deadline Day activity that saw Jay Stansfield depart for Birmingham and Reiss Nelson come in on loan, as well as the club's sponsorship deal with IUX, which has been critiqued by investigative journalist Martin Calladine. Martin jumped on with our friends at Fulham Focus for a full interview, which they've kindly let us use a snippet of here, but to listen to the full podcast, which we thoroughly recommend, you can listen here. Then it's onwards to West Ham. We take a look at how the Hammers have started the season, as well as their new additions; before examining any changes Marco is likely to make ahead of this one. James welcomes Fulham fan Lewis James (for his CotC debut) and West Ham fan Chrsi Stone to discuss the latest at their clubs and their FPL assets ahead of Saturday's London Derby at Craven Cottage. There's discussion on each club's start to the season and the integration of some of the new signings towards the end of the transfer window and how they may be integrated into the team, particularly at Fulham with Joachim Andersen, Sander Berge and Reiss Nelson all pushing for inclusion. While at West Ham so far we've seen the integration of Max Kilman, Aaron Wan-Bissaka and Guido Rodriguez; but the likes of Crysensio Summerville, Carlos Soler and the current injured Nicklas Fullkrug will all be hoping to break into the team soon. And FPL discussion features discussion on some popular Fulham selections, including Antonee Robinson, Emile Smith-Rowe and Rodrigo Muniz, and why West Ham assets like Jarrod Bowen are continuing to be overlooked by the majority. Arsenal drew Brighton 1-1 at the Emirates. In this transfer deadline day Arsenal podcast, Adam, Monty and Jamie discuss Raheem Sterling's deadline day move and what it means for our window. Reiss Nelson, Aaron Ramsdale and Eddie Nketiah departed, whilst Neto arrived on loan from Bournemouth after Joan Garcia's move broke down. With five new signings through the door, things would have looked very good for the club had Mikel Merino not picked up a shoulder injury in training keeping him out for over six weeks. We discussed all this and more before our trip to Brighton, so be sure to tune in! Please let us know what you enjoyed about the podcast and do leave the podcast a 5-star review on Apple Podcast. In this episode I'm joined by Clive Palmer to discuss the departure of Charlie Patino to Deportivo la Coruna, in the context of how difficult it can be for a highly rated youth player to make the step up to the Arsenal first team. We also discuss the futures of Reiss Nelson and Eddie Nketiah, Mikel Merino's arrival (whenever it happens), why Mikel Arteta needs to demonstrate confidence in all his players for the season ahead, how an attacking signing could complete the squad, and lots more.Get extra bonus content and help support Arseblog by becoming an Arseblog Member on Patreon: https://www.patreon.com/arseblog Hosted on Acast. Mikel Merino to Arsenal is.... not done yet. Is it the most boring transfer saga of all time? With Eddie Nketiah nearing a move to Nottingham Forest with a £25-30m deal being mooted, and Aaron Ramsdale potentially going to Wolves, Southampton or Bournemouth, exits are aplenty at Arsenal, and rumours remain over the futures of Reiss Nelson and Jakun Kiwior. But, for now, they appear just to be rumours, with incomings seeming quiet for Arsenal as the window draws to a close and the team prepares for a trip to Villa Park. Adam, Monty and Jamie preview the game, with a focus on Villa's mid block style, the impact that the losses of Douglas Luiz and Moussa Diaby will have on their style and the challenges of facing Amadou Onana who is full of confidence after a goal against West Ham. With Mikel Merino yet to be completed, how will Arsenal line up? What changes will Mikel Arteta make as he faces Unai Emery and what system will we play to get revenge after back to back defeats last season? Nottingham Forest are reportedly interested in signing Arsenal's talented winger, Reiss Nelson. The 24-year-old Englishman has shown flashes of brilliance during his time with the Gunners, and his pace and skill on the ball have made him a standout prospect. However, Arsenal is said to be holding out for a £20 million fee, which could make negotiations quite interesting. On a more sombre note, we have to address the heart-breaking news of the passing of Kevin Campbell, a true Forest legend. Kevin played a pivotal role in our club's history, particularly during his time with us in the 1990s. His contributions on the pitch were immense, and his charismatic presence made him a fan favourite. Campbell's tenure at Nottingham Forest was marked by his incredible goal-scoring ability and his leadership qualities. He was instrumental in many memorable victories and helped shape the team's identity during a transformative period for the club. Off the field, Kevin was known for his generosity and his passion for mentoring young players. Arsenal are once again expected to go big this summer and Adam Keys discusses with Monty and Jamie Kent. Marcus Rashford, Michael Olise, Eberechi Eze, Bruno Guimarães, Joao Neves, Douglas Luiz and more have been linked, but who does Mikel Arteta want? Alongside these rumours, we discuss the potential exits of Aaron Ramsdale, Reiss Nelson, Eddie Nketiah, Emile Smith Rowe, Gabriel Jesus, Olecksandr Zinchenko and Thomas Partey, and what the future holds for Fabio Viera. These players have all been mooted for the exit door, and would bring in nescessary funds for first team recruitment, but also for the new Hale End restructure, which sees Per Mertescacker have an academy budget for the first time in Arsenal's history. This Week in Arsenal, Sham (@Shamsdale on Twitter/X) once again takes the reins and welcomes illustrious guests James (@afcjxmes) and Raf (@rafsenal) to discuss Arsenal's loss at Aston Villa and draw at PSV. The guys talk about Arsenal's poor decisionmaking in the final third and whether there was anything from the Gunners' performance that inspired encouragement moving forward. Sham, James, and Raf also go over the major refereeing decisions at the end of the match and Mikel Arteta's touchline ban for the game, and the impact they had on the result. They then move on to the PSV match and discuss standout performers -- namely, Reiss Nelson. The three then give their thoughts on whether fans should be disappointed that the Hale End players who traveled to Eindhoven did not make an appearance in what was essentially a dead rubber. They then take a moment to laugh at United before closing out with thoughts on which club they'd like to face in the Round of 16. Follow This Week In Arsenal on Twitter @ThisWeekArsenal for more! In this episode I'm joined by Sam Dean to chat about Arsenal's 1-0 EFL Cup win over Brentford on Wednesday evening. A much-changed side got the win, but it was almost a tale of two halves as there was a lot of defending to in the second period. We chat about the match itself, some of the individuals – including Emile Smith Rowe, Reiss Nelson, Kai Havertz and Aaron Ramsdale – and how that might boost a squad which is going to need its full depth because of injuries right now. We also chat about how Mikel Arteta will view the EFL Cup itself, and lots more.Follow Sam @samjdeanGet extra bonus content and help support Arseblog by becoming an Arseblog Member on Patreon: https://www.patreon.com/arseblog Hosted on Acast.
