A conversation with Paul McMahon, co-founder SLM partners, about forestry being the gateway drug for natural capital for institutional investors to put money to work. Why? Because they are used to investing in forestry — it is a well-established investment sector with very long-time horizons. Rotations here are 30+ years, but it's also one with many challenges: current practices usually mean cutting down a forest after 30 years and completely replanting it. That basically scars a landscape for life — mostly monocultures.Interestingly, alternatives have been popping up over the last few decades. Continuous Cover Forestry (CCF), where you selectively harvest and let natural processes do most of the work, requires highly skilled foresters, but it can deliver superior returns alongside all the environmental benefits. These are production forests you want to be in — and forest bathe in. Now that a lot of academic research is emerging about carbon levels, returns, etc., the time might be right for more money to flow into it.More about this episode on https://investinginregenerativeagriculture.com/paul-mcmahon-4.==========================In Investing in Regenerative Agriculture and Food podcast show we talk to the pioneers in the regenerative food and agriculture space to learn more on how to put our money to work to regenerate soil, people, local communities and ecosystems while making an appropriate and fair return. On today's episode, Alex Golden and Mike Facci read the first set of questions for our March Mailbag! 1). John CoultonDo you think the reluctance of the Pacers franchise to truly "bottom out" has hurt their long term future and ultimately ruined their ability and chances to ever build a championship contender? Just imagine what the Pacers future would look like now if they had of racked up a few less meaningless wins over the past 2 seasons, got a higher draft pick as a result and ended up drafting (for example Paolo Banchero and Amen Thompson. Imagine what the pacers roster would like with those 2 currently on the team? 2). Young SimbaOut of potential playoff matchups, Knicks/Bucks/Pistons, who do you want to play the most and who do you want to play the least? 3). Alex Riley — Graphic Designer GOATYou guys concerned about the bench? Or think it's more a bi-product of different injuries/rotations? 4). Garrett the Buffalo Bills Fan LegendWhat do you think the ideal contract for Myles to retire as a Pacer will be? 5). Chris WeechWhat do you expect the playoff rotation to look like? Starters and bench predictions would be appreciated. Side note- I love Thomas Bryant, but I think his liabilities will show big time in the playoffs, how do we insulate Myles from foul trouble?

The Bulldogs should be safely in the NCAA Tournament again but are losing seeding ground with each game. So beating first-round foe LSU on Wednesday is needed to get the club in a better frame of mind for the big dance. The Diamond Dogs have tweaked lineups, shuffled batting orders, and now are testing a new weekend rotation with SEC season starting next Friday.

The Orlando Magic followed an under-.500 month of February with another very disappointing home loss to begin the month of March against the Toronto Raptors. Maybe it was due to too much wine and cheese. Orlando is continuing a downward spiral that sees them 29-33, and struggling just to maintain play-in positioning. Jeff Weltman failed and continues to fail to make moves to help this team out. There has been no offensive assistant replacement for Nate Tibbetts. There has not been veteran, 3-point shooting, point guard replacements made for Joe Ingles and Markelle Fultz. Jamahl Mosley needs to get more aggressive with this starting lineup and rotations to compensate. Will he do that? Worse yet, Jalen Suggs is having left knee surgery that is removing cartilage from his knee. That is of great concern in the short term and the long term of Jalen's NBA career. The Magic have been bad without Suggs on the court, and they'll have to figure out how to win games without Suggs for the rest of the regular season. And the Magic just gave him a 5-year $150 million extension that begins next season. It's not a lost season yet, but it will be if the Magic don't make the playoffs. All of that and more! #LetsGoMagic Warning: Adult Language

This week we're talking about rotations. When you're "rotating" you're moving on an axis or center. Let's talk about getting back to "center". What does "center" look like for you? How do we make movements in our lives that aren't centered around milestone moments (e.g. Birthdays....SN: I'm about to celebrate my 52nd rotation around the sun). Let's talk about how you have the power to live the life you want. Can we also talk about how the pod is about to turn 5!! Let's do this!! What happens when medical students trade books for the chaos of real patient care? They spent months and months learning medicine from books. Then suddenly, they were thrown into hospitals with real patients, real pressure, and only the barest clue what they were doing. In this episode, Dave sits down with M4s Jacob Hanson and Happy Kumar, and M3s Zay Edgren and Tony El-Sokkari to relive their first clerkship experiences—the awkward mistakes, every unexpected challenge, and the moments that made them feel like they actually belonged in medicine. From simulated patients yelling at them, to missing the first day of a rotation, to being told never to ask an attending questions, the crew shares the ups and downs of transitioning into the hospital world. They also break down how to ask for feedback the right way, what attendings actually expect from students, and why residency interviews feel like a mix of speed dating and job interviews. Plus, a wild case of “cheese hands” (Xanthelasma, if you're fancy) makes them all question their dietary choices.

On this edition of the Strip-Till Farmer podcast, brought to you by Yetter Farm Equipment, the jovial Jon Stevens gives us a peek inside his Rock Creek, Minn., strip-till operation. Stevens began his relentless pursuit for healthy soils a little over a decade ago when he ditched conventional tillage for strip-till and no-till. In this presentation from the 2023 National Strip-Tillage Conference, Stevens details his systematic approach to building soil health using strip-till, cattle and cover crops, and shares results from on-farm trials to illustrate how farm profitability doesn't always equate to being the highest yielder.

Today's word of the day is ‘rotation' as in starters as in Gerrit Cole as in Jack Flaherty as in Carlos Rodon as in Yoshinobu Yamamoto as in bullpen games! Let's talk about each team's rotation and how it was set up for the series. And we have to take a moment to honor Fernando Valenzuela. (14:10) Nestor Cortes is ready to risk it all for a World Series ring. How smart is this? (19:20) Shohei Ohtani's 50/50 ball just sold at auction for $4.4 million. A new record! (24:40) NPPOD. (35:50) Review: Tuesday. (38:30) Let's talk about the Timberwolves sale. Is it done yet? Is ARod an NBA owner now? (42:30) Jerry Jones is back at it again. Back on radio. Back making up excuses. (49:23) The Athletics are installing grass at Sutter Health Park. Players complained about the idea to install turf, but the heat would have been unbearable. Learn more about your ad choices.
