On October 1st, as Iran released 200 ballistic missiles at Israel, Carine Bassili released her song “October Rain” to the world. Her courageous decision to translate Israeli Eurovision contestant Eden Golan's song "Hurricane" into Arabic was the obvious next step in her solidarity with Israel. Carine, a devout Christian Lebanese women was banned from Lebanon in 2020, for musically collaborating with her Israeli friend. She doesn't view herself as fearless. What happens when the Queen of England dies? Queen Elizabeth is 95 years old and has had some health concerns lately. Her death would close a chapter of British history, symbolizing and likely hastening the passing of the Anglo-American age. U.S. President Joe Biden plans to spend some $65 billion on government-owned Internet networks. What happens when the government has control over that kind of technology? Concern in France over immigration and the loss of cultural identity has increased the popularity of a mainstream right leader who is challenging French President Emmanuel Macron and could reshape politics in this pillar European nation. Civil war is simmering in Lebanon after clashes between Hezbollah and Christian Lebanese forces. We also talk about a prophecy of what will happen to the British throne. RUSH: This from Chris Matthews last night on his — well, it wasn't Hardball, it was his election coverage on PMSNBC. MATTHEWS: The body language of the two is so different. You have this very wasp-y fellow, Lamont, very calm, very casual, very St. Paul's almost in the prep school sense, Lieberman of course is the schmaltzy ethnic guy, the Uncle Tonoose, you know, the guy that's very much kind of lachrymose in his almost postnasal drip voice of his, but he doesn't look happy. RUSH: All right, now, “the schmaltzy ethnic guy, the Uncle Tonoose,” And as I said the last hour, Uncle Tonoose was a character on the old Danny Thomas show, and I think I'm pretty safe in saying that Uncle Tonoose is played by Hans Conried, huge hook nose and so forth. Here's Matthews describing — let's be honest about this, folks; let's just put it out there. When you say somebody “is a schmaltzy ethnic guy,” you're not talking about an Arab. You're talking about a Jew. You just described somebody as a schmaltzy ethnic guy who has postnasal drip with his voice, lachrymose and so forth. Uncle Tonoose, in character, was a Lebanese Arab. Danny Thomas was a Christian Lebanese, and Uncle Tonoose therefore, was portraying an Arab. But isn't it interesting that you have Chris Matthews describing an Arab as a Jew, on the basis of appearance, schmaltzy ethnic guy. You know, there are some people saying this, but their dancing around it, but one of the little — or not often discussed aspects of the kook fringe base of the Democratic Party, I'm just going to put it out there, is anti-Semitism. There is so much anti-Semitism today in the Democratic Party. https://www.rushlimbaugh.com/daily/2006/08/09/matthews_remark_exposes_left_wing_anti_semitism2/ Learn more about your ad-choices at https://www.iheartpodcastnetwork.com

Much like an onion, sometimes life seems to be made up of layers upon layers of complexity.     Our guest this week, Jonathan Elkhoury, definitely embodies a life of many such layers. Jonathan Elkhoury is a gay Christian Lebanese refugee who now lives in Israel. In 2000 when he was 8 years old, he and his family were forced to leave Lebanon for Israel after the Lebanese Civil War for their own protection because his father was a member of the South Lebanon Army (SLA), which was supported by the Israel Defense Forces which had just withdrew from the country after a lengthy engagement there.    These days, he is a speaker, public diplomacy adviser, commentator, and advocate for Israel. He founded and coordinated the ‘Minorities Project' for the organization Reservists on Duty in Israel. The Minorities Project is the first of its kind, in which Israeli minorities present their own perspective about life in the Democratic Jewish state and their part for its success today. Elkhoury is the former spokesman for the Christian Empowerment Council that focused on integrating the Christian population into Israeli society through national and military service. He himself completed his national service of 2 years in Rambam Hospital in Haifa. ‏Jonathan writes and gives talks about the situation of Christians and other minorities in Israel, the integration and rights of the South Lebanon Army. He is a frequent commentator for Israeli media on Israeli Arab relations and the Middle East. We are so proud to welcome the amazing Gail Hourani Bashara, author of the bestselling book Plastic Surgery Confessions. She brought us a pink drink called "Orgy" combined with a syringe shot, that can be used to drink a shot or get botox injections ;) for her clever marketing material to advertise her book. She is doing book signings around the metroplex where you can pick up this fun promo piece as well. We learn about Gail's upbringing in a Christian Lebanese family where she was the miracle child. Her parents who hated each other created a toxic living environment that took a toll on her. She got out of Oklahoma as soon as she could at age 18 and moved to Dallas, TX.She says that there are many similarities to herself and her life to the main character named Gabrielle in the book, but some things are made up. She was inspired to write the book because plastic surgeons are like rock stars that know all their patients secrets so she wanted to expose some of their secrets. Gail believes that after age 33 we are all in this together and gravity is our ultimate enemy and it is non stop maintenance with aging. She has been married over 30 years but thinks she is a bad wife to her absentminded professor husband and admits that they have considered divorce many times but always make it work in the end. Gail tells us that the book was written from pain. The discussion about the book starts lots of conversation with the panel about knee lifts, Botox, leg lengthening procedures, boob jobs, nose jobs, ear pinning surgeries, pit pudge etc. Party with Miss Polly segment: Do you ever find that you are just casually hold your boob?Question of the Day segment:Is it okay to respond to a text from an ex when you have a current partner? The text was just a general How are you?
