RUSH: You know what's funny to watch? What's funny to watch is the Drive-Bys trying to portray Colin Powell and his hacked emails as devastating to Trump. It's… Folks, this is hilarious! They're doing everything they can to ignore the negative things Colin Powell said about — and, by the way, this is gonna change the day for Colin Powell. Colin Powell is not thought to speak this way. People don't think that Colin Powell even thinks this way. Colin Powell is not a “partisan.” He doesn't say mean things about people except the people who deserve to have mean things said about them, like me. But, other than that, he doesn't criticize establishment types. And look what's in these emails. My God, we could make at least two T-shirts with nothing but Colin Powell quotes on the front! In fact, that may be an idea. They've been trying to push the idea that Powell won't be voting for Trump because Powell called Trump “a national disgrace.” Ha! Who saw that coming? https://www.rushlimbaugh.com/daily/2016/09/15/words_of_wisdom_from_general_powell/ Learn more about your ad-choices at https://www.iheartpodcastnetwork.com

What You Need to Know to Understand All This Bannon Business

RUSH: The Steve Bannon interview… I've been getting emails all day from people who want my take on this, so I'm gonna go ahead and get into this now. I got to tell you again up front, I don't know the guy. I haven't even… He's been in a room twice when I have been with the president, but I've never been formally introduced even, and I've never spoken directly to him. So none of this is, to me, based on any personal knowledge I have of Bannon or the arrangement that Trump and Bannon have. All I can do is speculate hire, which I'll be happy to do. Now, the reason that Washington's in a tizzy today is because Bannon called Robert Kuttner at The American Prospect for an exclusive interview. This would be like Reagan calling Pravda. Unreal, of all the people Bannon could call, he calls Kuttner at The American Prospect. He calls somebody that hates Trump as much as anybody hates Trump, and it was not off the record. He wanted it known. Whatever was in this interview, Bannon wants out there, and it's out there. I watched Karl Rove react to it today and he was beside himself. He just could not believe any of this. He couldn't believe any aspect of it, thought it was the craziest, strangest, oddest, dumbest thing he's ever seen from any administration. https://www.rushlimbaugh.com/daily/2017/08/17/what-you-need-to-know-to-understand-all-this-bannon-business/ Learn more about your ad-choices at https://www.iheartpodcastnetwork.com

Iran Watches Us Deal with North Korea

RUSH: Snerdley and I were talking about the North Koreans and their test. There is going to be a sanctions vote tomorrow, and once again, ladies and gentlemen, we have been shafted by the Russians and the Chinese. The vote on sanctions is tomorrow, and Fox had a little breaking news story this morning saying that an arms embargo will not be added to UN resolutions. There will be no ban on where the NorComs can fly in the resolution. I mean this is really watered down stuff, to be voted on tomorrow morning.  Now, all of this is supposed to deter North Korea? All of this is supposed to deter Iran? Make no mistake about something on this: The Iranians are watching all this very carefully, just as they were watching the Israeli-Hezbollah war. (They probably started that one just to check everybody's resolve.) I did an interview with Joel Rosenberg earlier this week for an upcoming issue of the Limbaugh Letter, and Joel, I mean he's convinced that the ChiComs and the NorComs have an alliance, but he really believes that the North Korea thing is something being sponsored by Iran to test everybody in the world's reaction to it, just to see if we have the will anymore to stop rogue regimes like this from acquiring nuclear weapons. https://rushlimbaugh.com/daily/2006/10/13/iran_watches_us_deal_with_north_korea/ Learn more about your ad-choices at https://www.iheartpodcastnetwork.com

I've listened to you since 2000, and in 2004 I decided to go back to college after being out of high school for ten years, much because of what I've heard on your show about how you can do anything. You should do anything; you should not be okay with mediocre, et cetera, et cetera. You are the only one that's ever put that idea in my head. RUSH: Is that right? Your whole life? CALLER: Yeah. (laughs) Yeah, it's been that kind of life. But yes, that's correct, and it was drilled in my head over and over again from listening to your show, you know, “Go out and do it. Just do it. You know, make something better of yourself. You have opportunity.” So I went back to school in 2004 and I had a professor who had a master's and was working on his second master's who was so book smart, you know, thought he knew everything, and he would bring up arguments in class over the economy, amendments, laws, different things — and I'm telling you what, the only thing I'd done since high school was work, and then I started listening to your show. I could go toe to toe with that guy and argue with him about anything, and make him look stupid in front of the class just by listening to your show. Are Liberals Truly Offended by Foley?

Play Episode Listen Later Oct 6, 2021 5:04

RUSH: I have to admit, my friends, I'm a little confused about certain aspects of the situation here involving Mark Foley and the page. Now, the school system, the public school system has since the late eighties been teaching us that kids are going to have sex, we can't stop 'em, it's not our business to stop 'em. I mean, we've gone so far as teaching them to use condoms with bananas, or in some cases peanuts, cucumbers, but peanuts, too. You have to give them all life possibilities out there. And we had parents out on Long Island who are inviting their kids to have their boyfriend or girlfriend spend the night at the house because it would be cleaner and safer than if they were conjugating in the back seat of the family sedan. They went so far as to say we might even put a pack of cigarettes on the nightstand so that you can have a smoke after you have sex. Now I realize that that's sex among teenagers, but the public education sex ed. program does not say that it's wrong. You start talking abstinence to them, and they go nuts. Yeah, easy for you to say. We can't stop these kids, so we gave 'em condoms to encourage the risky behavior.  Now, the liberals also tell us that sex and gender issues are just lifestyles, not choices. Maybe choices in the case of sex changes like the chopadickoffame and the adadictomy, but these are just lifestyle things, gender and so forth, we're not to condemn. Any two people can love each other, any four people can love each other. You can define your family however you want, including your animal or animals. This we have been taught by the tolerant left among us. Kids can have sex, too. Not with somebody just in their age-group, alternative lifestyles, but not if the person is sexually active but younger, apparently. So we find here that there are limits. There are things that will offend liberals. Or are there? Because I continue to ask, are they really offended by this? How many of them wish they were in on the action? https://www.rushlimbaugh.com/daily/2006/10/02/are_liberals_truly_offended_by_foley4/ Learn more about your ad-choices at https://www.iheartpodcastnetwork.com

They spared people's feelings. ‘Everybody does it.' It actually has redeeming social quality and value, if not done too much, but even then, you know, within reason, lying is actually a well-calculated way to get through life, causing yourself less pain and, obviously, others less pain. Well, you won't believe this. So Clinton appears on Fox News Sunday this past Sunday — Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday — so it's four days ago, and I have here, ladies and gentlemen, in my formerly nicotine-stained fingers a story from our buddies at the Associated Press by Jocelyn Noveck: ‘Is It Cool to Lose Your Cool? … That's one of the questions of the week as we evaluate and re-evaluate Bill Clinton's finger-pointing, knee-poking interview with Chris Wallace on Fox. The first debate, of course, was whether Clinton had actually lost it at all — a ‘full-bore tantrum,' one conservative columnist called it — or knew exactly what he was doing. But splitting the difference for a moment, the interesting issue becomes…' I kid you not. (laughing) I can't say this with a straight face. ‘Can public anger in politics, business, and elsewhere be a good thing?' (Laughing.) Yes! Let's have more road rage. Let's have more threatening of journalists. You hear what Ailes said? Ailes came out and said this was ‘an assault or an attack on all journalists.' He said Clinton was totally over the top. It's like I just said: If you go back to 2006, not one Democrat voted to raise the debt limit in 2006. Republicans ran the show then. One year ago, not one Republican voted to raise the debt ceiling when they didn't run the show, of course. Just a year ago, one year, the debt ceiling has gone up by $2 trillion. Now, “Then-Minority Whip Eric Cantor (R.-Va.) rose on the House floor that day and declared that it was ‘beyond comprehension' and ‘a travesty' to talk about raising the legal debt limit to $14.294 trillion. “Last week, the Republican House leadership agreed to a deal with President Barack Obama and Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid (D.-Nev.) to spend $3.7555 trillion in this fiscal year — even though at the close of business Friday, as the deal was being struck, the Treasury reported that it could borrow only an additional $80.85 billion before hitting the $14.294-trillion debt limit Congress set last year.” So the debt ceiling increase of last year, we're bumping up agin' it now — against it. Rep. Chris Cannon, R-Utah, a Mormon father of eight, represents the most children: 278,398. These two extremes reflect a stark demographic divide between the congressional districts controlled by the major political parties. Republican House members overwhelmingly come from districts that have high percentages of married people and lots of children, according to a USA Today analysis of 2005 Census Bureau data released last month. Why, we had no idea this was coming,” and that's not at all what any of this is. This is all prepackaged. It's preplanned. It's been edited and formatted, and it's been timed. It has everything about it designed to move forward a political agenda. But everybody involved in that's saying, “No, no! There's nothing going on here. Muslims Riot, Murder over Pope's Words, New York Times Condemns the Words

RUSH: Well, lots of exciting stuff going on out there today, folks. The latest from this whole controversy over the pope, and words. There are some things that happen that are simply propitious, and this is one of them. The pope utters words, he quotes an old emperor from many centuries ago, and now the Muslim world is going bonkers, rioting, killing a nun in Somalia, shooting her in the back while she was praying. These Muslim extremists, Islamofascists are proving everything that the pope's words indicated. The New York Times had an editorial on Sunday that just totally misses the point, but, boy, is it expressive and illustrative. First off from Reuters, dateline Dubai. “An Iraqi militant group led by al Qaeda vowed a war against the ‘worshippers of the cross' in response to a recent speech by Pope Benedict on Islam that sparked anger across the Muslim world. The statement was made in an Internet statement by the Mujahideen Shura Council, an umbrella group led by Iraq's branch of Al-Qaeda, said, ‘We tell the worshipper of the cross (the Pope) that you and the West will be defeated, as is the case in Iraq, Afghanistan, Chechnya… We shall break the cross and spill the wine. … God will (help) Muslims to conquer Rome. … God enable us to slit their throats, and make their money and descendants the bounty of the mujahideen.” Yeah, this is a peaceful religion, there's no question about it. The pope simply utters words. But guess who one of the staunchest allies of Al-Qaeda happened to be yesterday? Well, not Jacques Chirac. It was the New York Times. https://www.rushlimbaugh.com/daily/2006/09/18/muslims_riot_murder_over_pope_s_words_new_york_times_condemns_the_words2/ Learn more about your ad-choices at https://www.iheartpodcastnetwork.com

RUSH: I'm really happy to introduce to you Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice, who joins us from Washington. The last time I spoke to you, Madam Secretary, was during the 2000 presidential campaign, so it's long overdue, but welcome to the program here. SECRETARY OF STATE RICE: Well, it's great to be with you, Rush. I can't believe it's been that long. RUSH: Time flies when you're having a good, good time. SECRETARY OF STATE RICE: (Laughs.) It does. It does. RUSH: Look, I want to get straight to this because I know your time is limited. The press conference today the president had about the congressional legislation he wants, 45 Democrats opposed — I'm not trying to draw you into political questions here, rest assured — you've got the three Republicans here, McCain and Warner and Lindsey Graham joining the Democrats opposing this. Secretary Powell wrote Senator McCain a letter that McCain has publicized. You have responded in a letter to Senator Warner. What did you say? SECRETARY OF STATE RICE: Well, in fact I sent the letter before I had seen Secretary Powell's letter. My letter simply stated the Department of State's position, which is that the interpretation of a US treaty obligation through US law is something that we do frequently and all the time. We're not trying to change what's called Common Article 3. We're not trying to weaken it. We just want our professionals to have clarity so that they know what is legal and what is not, and I have absolutely no problem defending what the president has asked the Congress to do when I go internationally. I think it only makes sense that you would not leave a very unclear standard like that of Common Article 3, which talks about “outrages on human dignity,” for instance, Rush. You don't want to leave that to unaccountable prosecutors, for instance, internationally. You want US law to define that. https://www.rushlimbaugh.com/daily/2006/09/15/rush_interviews_secretary_of_state_condoleezza_rice/ Learn more about your ad-choices at https://www.iheartpodcastnetwork.com

Daley, who vetoed the ordinance this week saying it would cost the city jobs and hurt people who need those jobs the most, was able to convince enough aldermen who voted in favor of the ordinance in July to change their votes. (By the way, we're going back to audio sound bites three and four next, Ed.) When I saw all of the hesitation and all the rules and all the regulations that prevented us from taking out Bin Laden or other terrorists, my blood boiled, and now there's this story in the New York Post today. Taliban — and there's a picture of it. “Taliban terror leaders who had gathered for a funeral – and were secretly being watched by an eye-in-the-sky American drone – dodged assassination because U.S. rules of engagement bar attacks in cemeteries, according to a shocking report.  “U.S. intelligence officers in Afghanistan are still fuming about the recent lost opportunity for an easy kill of Taliban honchos packed in tight formation for the burial…” NBC had the pictures. It looked like there might have been a hundred and ninety of them there! “The unmanned airplane, circling undetected high overhead, fed a continuous satellite feed of the juicy target to officers on the ground. ‘We were so excited. I came rushing in with the picture,' one U.S. Army officer told NBC. But that excitement quickly turned to gut-wrenching frustration because the rules of engagement on the ground in Afghanistan blocked the U.S. from mounting a missile or bomb strike in a cemetery, according to the report. Pentagon officials declined comment and referred The Post to Central Command officers in Afghanistan, who did not respond to a request for comment or explanation,” by press time.  https://www.rushlimbaugh.com/daily/2006/09/13/liberals_still_obsessed_with_rush_path_to_9_11/ Learn more about your ad-choices at https://www.iheartpodcastnetwork.com

CNN's Anderson Cooper 180, with hardly any audience, which is why we're going to play this bite for you, spoke with the international correspondent at CNN, Michael Ware. Cooper said, ‘Everybody seems to admit, look, there's no military solution, and yet politically there's hardly any civilians on the ground in a lot of these areas, and the Afghan government is riddled with corruption. We're trying to bolster in these areas a government which has not represented its people.' WARE: We're not at the point where we could lose this war. This Taliban will continue to fight as long as US troops or foreign troops want to be there. So the whole idea is to put enough military pressure on the Taliban war machine to parlay that pressure at the negotiating table or to bring a political solution. Now, President Obama has to man up and decide: is he going to fight this war or is he going to oversee an American defeat. RUSH: A CNN reporter says to Obama, man up or lose Afghanistan? Man up or lose? Or is he going to oversee an American defeat? What do you think the answer to the question is? He's willing to oversee an American defeat. He came out and said victory is an uncomfortable word in Afghanistan. So, meanwhile, the general who Obama wants and who Obama appointed and who Obama got confirmed wants some more troops. Mr. President, you are not a state senator from Illinois. You are the commander-in-chief of the US military. Do your job. Drop the politics. We got heroes on the battlefield giving their last full measure of devotion to this country and you're voting ‘present.' All because he doesn't want to upset the applecart, the precious balance in Congress on his health care bill — well, on a health care bill because of the radical left. And now The Politico is fascinated with who leaked this news that Obama's not gonna come up with the troops that the general wants, who leaked that the general wants the troops. It's the funniest thing. This particular Memorial Day with everything going on in Iraq and the Middle East and ISIS now just running out of control and our leadership seemingly unconcerned, the Iranians nuking up, but Iraq and what's happening there has got to make this Memorial Day a real challenge for a lot of American families. Trump said he wouldn't be doing these kinds of military interventions anymore.” So I began to think, is that true? Did Trump campaign frequently, reliably promising there would not be any U.S. military intervention abroad? That's another question I must put to you Trumpists. I realize a lot of people interpreted that that is what Trump meant when he said, “Put America first,” and he was talking about NATO. With NATO he never said NATO had to go away. He just said the people running it are not paying their fair share, and we're not gonna continue to pay way beyond our share here. We're not gonna bear the burden. If NATO's gonna mean anything, these people gotta play ball. By the same token, I was trying to remember last night — I Googled it, looked around — I couldn't find it, as in white paper policy positions, Trump claiming consistently and often, that there would never be any military intervention around the world. MCCAIN: I think one of the biggest mistakes we've made was underestimating the size of the task and the sacrifice that would be required. “Stuff happens. Mission accomplished. Last throes. Few dead-enders.” I'm more familiar with those statements than anyone else because it grieves me so much that we had not told the American people how tough and difficult this task would be. RUSH: I'm going to go back. I have a quote here from President Bush on April 28th of 2003. May I read that quote to you? “Iraq can be an example of peace and prosperity and freedom to the entire Middle East. It will be a hard journey. But at every step of the way, Iraq will have a steady friend in the American people.” I am not aware of the president — well, I'm not aware of myself ever thinking this was going to be a cakewalk, and I'm not aware of the administration making the case. I think that mission accomplished banner on board the aircraft carrier, some could say that was misleading, but the mission at that time was accomplished. That was getting rid of Saddam. The war in Iraq actually was quite successful and didn't take very long. It is the aftermath, the quest for peace, so to speak, that is taking a long time. I don't think the president misled anybody about it. Anyway, here is what McCain wanted. He wanted coverage on all the evening news, the cable channels, Drive-By Media adulation. What do you think we should be doing? Do you think we should be doing more ant-insurgency or more antiterrorism, more or less troops, different troops, that sort of thing? RUSH: Well, I'm not a commanding officer. I would listen to those who are. It's very simple: We win; they lose. CALLER: But did you see the interview on 60 Minutes this weekend, with the general? RUSH: Yeah, and he said he's only talked to the commander-in-chief one time in 70 days. CALLER: Right. And he was talking about, you know, be more careful in our bombing and stuff and I know that's something that's driven you crazy when the Democrats have said that in the past, and I was just wondering what you thought about that. RUSH: It is a dichotomy. When the cowards who are our enemy bury themselves in homes in neighborhoods with women and children wearing the burqas, it is difficult for us to go out and get the guys because we are limited by our compassion for not causing collateral damage. CALLER: So you would just take the gloves off? RUSH: No. I'd listen to what the generals say. But the bottom line is, what would I'd do in Afghanistan? I'd win. Here. Obama has spoken up again. It's not hard. You know, in a war, the operating philosophy is, ‘Well, what's the endgame? When do you get out?' After you win! We win; they lose. RUSH: This is Merit in Dayton, Ohio, nice to have you on the program. CALLER: Hi, Rush, I actually just wanted to thank you. I am a wife and sister of two Army soldiers. My brother served through tours in Afghanistan and my husband is now in Iraq, set to do a year, and it's just nice to know that there are other people going over there and telling them that they're doing a great job and that we're all ready for them to come home and that we love 'em and we support 'em and they're doing the right thing. RUSH: Thank you. They are special people. It was an honor to be able to talk to them and convey what I think to be the majority sentiments of the people in this country. But I want to tell you, when we were at Kandahar? Kandahar is the place where there still are skirmishes going on. There was mortar fire the night we were there — nowhere near us but at the base. The base is huge. One of the things that I noticed when I had that troop event is that these people would all tell me what an “honor it was” to meet me, and I thank them, but I'm honest here, folks: I can't tell you how small I felt compared to these people, the age range was anywhere from 18 to 30 and even older. I mean, some of the command officers over there, career military, have been around for a long time, and I mean I'll be honest. https://www.rushlimbaugh.com/daily/2005/02/28/our_military_very_special_people/ Learn more about your ad-choices at https://www.iheartpodcastnetwork.com

RUSH: Here's Jeff in Jeffersonville, Indiana. Welcome, sir, president great to have you here with us. Hi. CALLER: Mega dittos, Rush. Listener since 2000. RUSH: Thank you. CALLER: I want to ask what your opinion is on why the tech industry is left leaning. I'm a tech industry person. I've been here working in this industry for 30 years. It's very entrepreneurial. There are no unions. I'm curious as to why it leans left when it seems to me it should lean right. RUSH: You know, this is a question that I have been asking myself my whole life because I have been under the impression that all of these people — self-made, very wealthy — are natural-born conservatives. But they obviously despise conservatism, and they despise conservatives, conservative people. They despise 'em. https://www.rushlimbaugh.com/daily/2021/01/29/all-the-tech-entrepreneurs-are-liberals-for-a-reason/ Learn more about your ad-choices at https://www.iheartpodcastnetwork.com

I want to go back to 2003, May the 3rd of 2003. I've told this story before. Some of you who have been longtime listeners have heard the story, but it is worth hearing it again. It's May of 2003. A couple of months earlier, we began the invasion of Iraq, one of the first acts in the War on Terror. This was the war that was to remove and eliminate Saddam Hussein. George W. Bush had spent a year and a half traveling the country explaining it, gearing up support for it. It was a major, major conflict in the War on Terror and our response to it. https://www.rushlimbaugh.com/daily/2017/11/06/a-new-book-by-a-great-american/ Learn more about your ad-choices at https://www.iheartpodcastnetwork.com

RUSH: We are here on the Left Coast. We're in Hollywood. We're in Los Angeles, broadcast excellence for the fourth straight date out here, and one more to go after today. We're having more fun than a human being should be allowed to have. I showed up yesterday, played at a golf course called Saticoy up in Reagan country. You know where it is? It's up there in Camarillo. So we drove up there, you need meal money to get up there from here. And we show up, go to the 18th hole, it's a long par five. I, El Rushbo, I'm hitting the ball off the tee as well as I have in I don't know how long. Bammo, it's about a 535 yard par five. The second shot, 3-wood, bammo, straight down the middle. I have about 80 yards in, and I sort of yank, come over the top on the gap, wedge ends up in the trap, the green side bunker. And we're one down here, this is gonna tie it up and not losing any money. And of course everybody thinks I'm in the bunker. I've got a reputation for being a bad bunker player. Okay, it's over. https://www.rushlimbaugh.com/daily/2011/06/23/recap_of_bam_afghanistan_speech_lose_war_to_shore_up_liberal_base/ Learn more about your ad-choices at https://www.iheartpodcastnetwork.com

RUSH: Here's Beto O'Rourke. I mentioned this. I just want you to hear it. He's in Juarez, Mexico. Juarez is right across the river from El Paso, and he's campaigning for the presidency — the Democrat nomination — in Juarez, Mexico. Now, you may think this is crazy. But it isn't! Democrat Party base lives in Mexico now. They were asked, “Show of hands. How many of you think illegals should get free health care?” Every hand went up. They don't think illegals should be stopped from coming into the country. So the population of Mexico is a Democrat base now. So Beto goes down there to tell them that America caused their suffering, that America is to blame for Mexicans dying crossing into the country. This is what he said. https://www.rushlimbaugh.com/daily/2019/07/02/beto-campaigns-where-the-democrat-base-is-in-mexico/ Learn more about your ad-choices at https://www.iheartpodcastnetwork.com

CBS did over Rather, but they had to on that one, but they never, ever get investigated. They can distort. They can lie. They can ruin people. They can create total false impressions of reality that has real effect on people's lives, and nobody ever demands an investigation. But you let it be Big Oil that does something or let it be Big Drug that does something or Big Retail or Big Tobacco, why, we'll stop the presses and we'll investigate. I know the media has First Amendment protections and I'm not suggesting Congress should do this. https://www.rushlimbaugh.com/daily/2006/08/07/phony_al_reuters_photos_just_tip_of_iceberg_but_big_media_will_never_investigate_itself/ Learn more about your ad-choices at https://www.iheartpodcastnetwork.com

Rush's Timeless Wisdom - Global Warming Hurricane Forecasters Were Wrong

Play Episode Listen Later Aug 10, 2021 5:44

RUSH: I am holding this latest story right here in my formerly nicotine stained fingers: “Forecasters See Less Active '06 Hurricane Season” (Gasping.) “The United States hurricane season will be slightly less intense this year than first predicted with nine hurricanes expected to form, government forecasters said on Tuesday, but they warned the most dangerous part of the season was still to come.” Really? We know this. The peak is in the middle of September. NOAA “said the 2006 season could produce between 12 to 15 named storms, with seven to nine becoming hurricanes and three or four of them being classified as ‘major' hurricanes that could threaten the U.S. Atlantic and Gulf coasts.” Now, you know, I want to be very careful here because these people have a tough job. They have incredible expectations placed on them, and those expectations are not helped by all the media hype about hurricanes and disasters and so forth, but come on. Does anybody really expect that they can tell you in April or March what's going to happen in a hurricane season? They think they do, but the best that we can do is issue a wild guess based on data that we have collected and analyzed in computers over a number of years in the past. Remember we were told a new cycle here? Global warming was a debated topic as to whether or not it affected hurricanes, but regardless, new cycle, intense hurricanes, lot more of them, brace yourselves! https://www.rushlimbaugh.com/daily/2006/08/08/global_warming_hurricane_forecasters_were_wrong/ Learn more about your ad-choices at https://www.iheartpodcastnetwork.com

    Rush's Timeless Wisdom - Matthews Remark Exposes Left-Wing Anti-Semitism

RUSH: This from Chris Matthews last night on his — well, it wasn't Hardball, it was his election coverage on PMSNBC. MATTHEWS: The body language of the two is so different. You have this very wasp-y fellow, Lamont, very calm, very casual, very St. Paul's almost in the prep school sense, Lieberman of course is the schmaltzy ethnic guy, the Uncle Tonoose, you know, the guy that's very much kind of lachrymose in his almost postnasal drip voice of his, but he doesn't look happy. RUSH: All right, now, “the schmaltzy ethnic guy, the Uncle Tonoose,” And as I said the last hour, Uncle Tonoose was a character on the old Danny Thomas show, and I think I'm pretty safe in saying that Uncle Tonoose is played by Hans Conried, huge hook nose and so forth. Here's Matthews describing — let's be honest about this, folks; let's just put it out there. When you say somebody “is a schmaltzy ethnic guy,” you're not talking about an Arab. You're talking about a Jew. You just described somebody as a schmaltzy ethnic guy who has postnasal drip with his voice, lachrymose and so forth. Uncle Tonoose, in character, was a Lebanese Arab. Danny Thomas was a Christian Lebanese, and Uncle Tonoose therefore, was portraying an Arab. But isn't it interesting that you have Chris Matthews describing an Arab as a Jew, on the basis of appearance, schmaltzy ethnic guy. You know, there are some people saying this, but their dancing around it, but one of the little — or not often discussed aspects of the kook fringe base of the Democratic Party, I'm just going to put it out there, is anti-Semitism. There is so much anti-Semitism today in the Democratic Party. https://www.rushlimbaugh.com/daily/2006/08/09/matthews_remark_exposes_left_wing_anti_semitism2/ Learn more about your ad-choices at https://www.iheartpodcastnetwork.com
