On 28th August 1588, the year of the Spanish Armada, a young Franciscan friar named Thomas Felton was hanged near Brentford, Middlesex. Felton's “crime”? His Catholic faith, and his refusal to acknowledge Elizabeth I as head of the Church. The son of Blessed John Felton (executed in 1570 for posting the papal bull of Elizabeth's excommunication), young Thomas endured brutal imprisonment and torture — confined in the Little Ease, flogged, and even hanged by his hands until they bled. Yet he refused to betray his faith or the priests who sheltered English Catholics. He was just 21 years old when he went to the gallows — turning down a pardon rather than compromise his beliefs. In this podcast, I, Claire Ridgway, historian and author, share the tragic yet inspiring story of Thomas Felton, and why his courage deserves to be remembered. In this episode of the Crack House Chronicles Donnie and Dale tell the story of Joe Clark, aka The Bonebreaker. In July of 1995. 13-year-old Thad Phillips had fallen asleep in his living room watching a movie. Suddenly, he awoke to the feeling of someone lifting him up and carrying him away - initially he thought maybe it was his dad, bringing him upstairs to bed. But it wasn't. The person holding him was an older teen boy named Joe Clark. Joe carried Thad outside of his home and asked him to follow him to help fix his broken-down car. Still half asleep, Thad agreed, following Joe all of the way to a rundown broken home. He followed Joe into the home, not realizing he was about to endure the most terrifying, painful 43 hours of his life. The teenage boy that Thad thought could be a friend turned into his worst nightmare.  https://www.crackhousechronicles.com/ https://linktr.ee/crackhousechronicles https://www.tiktok.com/@crackhousechronicles https://www.facebook.com/crackhousechronicles Check out our MERCH! https://www.teepublic.com/user/crackhousechronicles Sources: https://medium.com/tftunderworld/the-twisted-tale-of-joe-clark-the-baraboo-bone-breaker-401a63d7bdc6 https://criminalminds.fandom.com/wiki/Joe_Clark https://www.wkow.com/news/kidnapped-and-tortured-by-the-bonebreaker-survivor-never-receives-21m-award/article_d773fd16-db12-11ed-87df-af2b02c845d6.html

Mark Williams is a veteran that has paid his dues over more than two decades on the scene as a DJ and producer. Since the 80s, when he started his career at UK hot spots like the Ministry of Sound and Final Frontier, he has been laying the groundwork for his future success. His production work has also gained him acclaim the world over and he has released a staggering catalogue of quality tracks on some of the most respected techno labels in the world including: Tortured, Dark House, Pure Plastic, Phont, Primate, and Carl Cox's Ultimate Trax imprint, to name a few. In addition to releasing on other labels, Mark also has his own imprints: Artificial Vinyl, Real Sessions, Macumba and Real Vinyl. Mark has also gained worldwide recognition with his skilful and distinctive DJing style. Mixing tribal, tech house and techno on three decks and CDJs, his rocking performances have helped him to develop a strong fan base and facilitated gigs in places like Spain, Turkey, Slovenia, Japan, Brazil, Colombia, Macedonia, and Sweden. His first major tour was in 1998 when Mark was asked to join Carl Cox on his “World Wide Ultimatum Tour.” In 2000, Mark became a resident at a club night called “Damage” in Dublin and later that year he supported Billy Nasty on his “Torture Chamber World Tour.” 2003 found Mark on his first “Ingoma Tour” with Ben Sims which culminated in a now legendary party at the Loft Club, Barcelona, the weekend of Sonar. In 2004, Mark and Ben set out for another tour to promote Mark's debut album, “A Point in Time” on Ingoma. 2005 was another banner year, with Mark playing at clubs, parties and festivals around the world including a set for more than 40,000 people at the Monegros Festival in Spain. 2005 also saw Mark bringing his sound to radio. The “Concept Show” (www.conceptshow.com) is a monthly broadcast that Mark co-hosts with Macedonian DJ Goran Kan. Some of the past guests have been Mark Broom, Paul Mac, Ben Sims, Cari Lekebusch, Oscar Mulero and DJ Bone. From the studio to the DJ booth, Mark Williams is one of the brightest stars in the world of techno and his list of accomplishments is impressive and ever growing. In 2007, Mark has teamed up with Paul Mac to provide a new way of presenting his music using a combination of three turntables, 2 CDJs and a laptop running Ableton. Sou Tai are intending to fuse their customary sounds to create something new and fresh. The addition of Ableton to the standard setup enables the use of custom edits of classics and to be able to drop all manner of surprises into the mix. Mark has also found time to create a masterpiece of an album that expresses all the sides of his musicality. His love for tribal, Detroit techno and house music shines through in his album “You can't hide what you truly feel” (out later this year) for the label Subject Detroit. So far Mark has soared to new heights, with Sou Tai closing the Awakenings party in Holland to outstanding reactions from the crowds. With Sou Tai riding high the pair have had some superb gigs such as the one at Spanish super club Fabrik, and Mark has now found himself back playing in much loved Japan Tracklist via -Spotify: bit.ly/SRonSpotify -Reddit: www.reddit.com/r/Slam_Radio/ -Facebook: bit.ly/SlamRadioGroup Archive on Mixcloud: www.mixcloud.com/slam/   Subscribe to our podcast on -iTunes: apple.co/2RQ1xdh -Amazon Music: amzn.to/2RPYnX3 -Google Podcasts: bit.ly/SRGooglePodcasts -Deezer: bit.ly/SlamRadioDeezer   Keep up with SLAM: https://fanlink.tv/Slam  Keep up with Soma Records: https://linktr.ee/somarecords    For syndication or radio queries: harry@somarecords.com & conor@glowcast.co.uk Slam Radio is produced at www.glowcast.co.uk

On Saturday evening a five minute video of Hamas hostage Evyatar David, a 24-year-old music lover kidnapped from the Nova Music Festival, was released for publication by his family. A second video of hostage Rom Braslavski was released soon after. These young men have been starved for 22 months. Held in dark, filthy, airless tunnels. Tortured. Humiliated. We know much from hostages who had been held with them and were released in the last hostage deal in the winter. In the ensuing months their condition has deteriorated alarmingly and medical assessments give them a few weeks, days, perhaps hours, to live. State of Tel Aviv regular guest, Ya'akov Katz, joined me today on short notice to try to understand the impact of this harrowing footage on the Israeli population and the urgency - on so many levels - for the war to end and the hostages brought home. Since we recorded this afternoon, we have learned that the Cabinet is, incomprehensibly, nearing a decision to ramp up the war on Gaza and occupy much of the Strip. At this point nothing is confirmed, the hostages are dying and the moral fiber and cohesiveness of Israel is being put to an extreme test. Our conversation today is tough but important. And I wanted those not living here to understand how tormented most Israelis are. Not just by the hostages plight but also by the humanitarian crisis in the Gaza Strip.Show your support for STLV at buymeacoffee.com/stateoftelavivState of Tel Aviv is a reader-supported publication. Established 28 years ago by Congress, the United States Commission on International Religious Freedom (USCIRF) is charged with monitoring religious persecution around the world, reporting to Congress, the President, and the Secretary of State and making recommendations on advancing religious freedom through US foreign policy. Vicky Hartzler is the current chair of USCIRF. Prior to that appointment, she served in Congress from the state of Missouri. Even before her service in Congress, Hartzler came with a group from her church to volunteer at The Voice of the Martyrs. Listen as she shares more about her role in reporting on and seeking religious freedom for our brothers and sisters in restricted areas and hostile nations. She'll also share her own experiences of advocating on behalf of persecuted Christians directly to leaders of other nations. After getting VOM's monthly magazine and reading Richard Wurmbrand's story in Tortured for Christ, her eyes were opened to Christian persecution and she was moved to pray for our persecuted Christian family, taking Hebrews 13:3 to heart. Hartzler was impacted by her time serving at VOM. Her heart was also moved when she met a Chinese Christian woman at her church. The woman shared how she'd felt alone in solitary confinement in China—until she had a vision from the Lord of people praying for her. “God may be enabling somebody in prison to see and to hear our prayers—and to be encouraged,” Hartzler says. In Congress, Hartzler adopted three Christian prisoners in China to advocate on behalf of. Pastor Wang Yi—one of the three—is still in prison, serving out his nine-year sentence. You can write a letter to him, and petition government officials on his behalf, at PrisonerAlert.com. Listen for ways you can pray for USCIRF's work and for followers of Christ working in government to advance religious freedom around the world. The VOM App for your smartphone or tablet will help you pray daily for persecuted Christians throughout the year, as well as provide free access to e-books, audiobooks, video content and feature films. Never Shut Up #RTTBROS #Nightlight The Voice That Wouldn't Stay Silent "But Peter and John answered and said unto them, Whether it be right in the sight of God to hearken unto you more than unto God, judge ye. For we cannot but speak the things which we have seen and heard." Acts 4:19-20Richard Wurmbrand spent fourteen years in Romanian communist prisons for preaching the gospel of Jesus Christ. Three of those years were in solitary confinement thirty feet underground. The communists tried everything to break him, torture, starvation, psychological warfare, but they couldn't stop him from speaking about his Savior. When they released him in 1964, you might think he would have quietly lived out his remaining years in peace. After all, he had already paid a tremendous price for his faith. But that's not what happened.Instead, Wurmbrand wrote "Tortured for Christ" and began traveling the world, telling everyone about the underground church behind the Iron Curtain. Here was a man who had every reason to be bitter, every excuse to give up on ministry, but instead he said something that has stuck with me: "The cruelest thing you can do to a Christian is to make him comfortable."Wurmbrand understood what Peter and John understood in our text. When you've experienced the life-changing power of Jesus Christ, when you've seen what God can do in the darkest circumstances, you simply cannot keep quiet about it. It becomes like fire shut up in your bones.Sometimes we American Christians get too comfortable. We worry about what people might think if we share our faith. We're afraid we might offend someone. But if we've truly experienced God's grace, if we've been rescued from sin and death, how can we not tell others?Wurmbrand suffered more for his faith than most of us ever will, but he never stopped speaking about Jesus because he understood that the gospel is too good to keep to ourselves. What's keeping you quiet today? We have the greatest news in the world to share. People are dying without hope, and we have the answer. We simply cannot keep quiet about what we've seen and heard.Be sure to Like, Share, Follow and subscribe it helps get the word out.https://linktr.ee/rttbros

Kerrick Majors was a 14-year-old African American boy from Nashville, Tennessee, whose brutal, racially motivated murder in April 1987 became a symbol of both racial violence and justice in the American South. Described as a kind, respectful middle school student, Kerrick was abducted after a minor dispute over a broken vase with three white drifters—Donald and Tammy Middlebrooks and Robert Brewington—who falsely accused him of theft. They forced him into a wooded area where he was tortured over several hours—burned, beaten with brass knuckles, urinated on, slashed with knives, and stabbed to death while racial slurs were used against him.His body, left naked under a discarded mattress in a creek bed, bore signs of extreme cruelty, including a carved "X" on his chest. Police initially dismissed him as a runaway and delayed the investigation, which led to public outrage, disciplinary action against officers, and a $2 million lawsuit by Kerrick's family. The case resulted in historic convictions: Brewington received life plus 75 years, Tammy Middlebrooks received life with parole eligibility, and Donald Middlebrooks was sentenced to death—the first time in modern Tennessee history that a white person was condemned to death for murdering a Black child. The case remains significant for highlighting systemic racism, law enforcement negligence, and the rare pursuit of justice in a racially charged crime.https://linktr.ee/UnforbiddentruthBecome a supporter of this podcast: https://www.spreaker.com/podcast/unforbidden-truth--4724561/support.
