Consider Him - Three Reactions at Christmas - Matthew 2:1-23
THE WISDOM OF CHRISTMAS (Matthew 2:1-2) Today, we will be talking about Christmas wisdom that we find in the Christmas story. Certainly, we need a lot of wisdom around this time of year. I need wisdom. I need wisdom to figure out what am I going to get my wife for Christmas. Now, that's difficult for me. It really is. It is also difficult for her to buy gifts for me. We go through this every year, even after 46 years of marriage, we still go through this. But today, I want to talk to you about some wisdom that goes far beyond these mundane things and this worldly type of wisdom. I want to share with you some supernatural wisdom, how you can have some wisdom in your Christmas. Our text today is going to be in the book of Matthew, and it is going to focus on the story of the wise men coming from the East to bring gifts to the new King that has been born in Bethlehem. Now, everybody has heard this story since they were children, or they have seen it in plays put on at Christmas time. It is a very familiar story, and it is a story with supernatural wisdom. The first thing we should know about these men is that they were exceedingly wise men. Why? Because they sought out the Lord Jesus Christ to worship Him. The wisest thing that you could ever do at Christmastime, or any other time, is to worship Jesus. I hope that doesn't fall flat. I hope you don't miss that. Because that is the bottom of all bottom lines. That is the wisest thing that anybody could ever do, to simply worship the Lord Jesus Christ. There are a lot of people who want the joys of Christmas without the worship of Jesus. But, that is impossible! It is impossible! You may have a happy time, but you are never going to know the joys of Christmas until you learn to worship the Lord Jesus Christ. Click on the play button to hear a message on the Biblical story of the wise men who came from the East to worship the young child, born in Bethlehem, born to be a King, born to be a Savior, and born as sinless God, God incarnated in man. This is a live recording of The Master's Class Bible Study at LifeChange Church Wichita, KS. Amen.

Steve Smith :: Creekside Church :: Sunday, December 22, 2024 The world often leaves Christ out of Christmas, and even Christians can forget the significance of this “happy holiday.” From the reactions of the shepherds (Luke 2:15-16), saints (Luke 2:25-38) and sages (Matthew 2:1-2) on that first Christmas, we discover that a proper response to Jesus' birth has 3 features that keep Christ at the center of our celebration. Pastor Steve's message shows us how the story of our Savior's arrival inspires us to see Christ, worship Christ, and witness for Christ at Christmas. Steve's message follows a 4th Sunday of Advent reading by Brent and Allie McLaren. Worship music permitted under CCLI License #264436.
We hold our in-person Sunday worship services at 10:45 AM (Pacific time) and are recording them each week for folks who can't join us in person. This is the Audio-only version recorded for Sunday, December 22, 2024. It is also available in Video format through our YouTube channel. Click on the "Notes Icon" (the little image of a notepad) to get the sermon study notes for this week. ORDER OF SERVICE: We will open our Sunday service for Christmas by singing together (on-screen lyrics in the video worship service). Then, the message “Three Views of Christmas” will be preached by Pastor Dave Marksbury from Matthew 2:1-18. After this message, join us and sing with our worship team. Next, enjoy a special violin duet. The community prayer and weekly announcements are followed by the "One Year Bible Reading" update. We will conclude the service with the singing of “Silent Night” to candle light. Merry Christmas!
Thank you for joining us this week as Pastor Matthew Carratt joined us to talk about Isaiah 9, with a focus on The Everlasting Father.
As Christmas Day approaches, we are compelled to scrutinize the importance of this day. We celebrate that Jesus was born. But why was Jesus born? In today's message Pastor Matt explains that Jesus was born to save.

In Matthew 2:1-16, King Herod, the chief priests and scribes, and the wise men all have a different response to Jesus' birth, and in this we see that everyone responds to Jesus in either anger, apathy, or adoration.
