Dickie Copeland joins Jen for Halloween again this year to discuss The Creeps, the third book in John Connolly's Samuel Johnson tales. The main characters and villains from the first two books, The Gates and The Infernals, certainly have their place in this third installment, but that doesn't stop Connolly from introducing wonderful new elements, and much scarier ones too. Plus Dickie and Jen share the stories of their first kisses, because what could be more terrifying than that? Happy Halloween! This week, Dickie Copeland joins Jen for a Halloween episode about two novels by John Connolly, The Gates, and its sequel, The Infernals. The books kick off with 11 year old Samuel Johnson discovering a portal between Earth and Hell through which a demonic horde intends to invade on Halloween, and chronicle Samuel's adventures battling the evil invasion with the help of his dachshund Boswell and a not-so-demonic demon named Nurd, among others. Naturally, this leads to Jen relating a traumatic childhood experience of her own, and Dickie revealing another novel she's reading that is disturbing and far less appropriate for young adults.
