How much water should you drink? All humans need water to survive. In fact, two-thirds of your body is comprised of the stuff. While drinking water is undoubtedly part of your daily diet, there are ways it can actually be harmful. You may be drinking it incorrectly all the time without even knowing it. Do you drink water while you're on the go, standing, walking, and even running? This easy habit can wreak havoc on your body! Specifically on your body's filtration system, aka your kidneys. Do you drink water immediately after a big meal? That's not good for your body either! So, guys, we're going to tell you about how to get the most from your water intake! TIMESTAMPS: Chugging water like there's no tomorrow 0:41 Drinking water immediately after a big meal 2:33 Drinking ice-cold H20 3:54 Drinking water on the go 5:02 Drinking water at the end of your morning routine 6:10 Skipping a glass of water before bed 7:01 #healthyhabits #unhealthyhabits #drinkingwater Music by Epidemic Sound https://www.epidemicsound.com/ SUMMARY: - According to Dr. Leonard Smith, a gastrointestinal, vascular, and general surgeon, slowly sipping 2 to 3 oz of water at a time throughout your day should do the trick. - If you're really thirsty after a workout, for example, or spending time outside and feel the need to chug copious amounts of water, you can potentially die from something called hyponatremia. - When your body starts to digest food, gastric juices work hard to break down the foods. If you drink tons of water while this is all happening, it can dilute the gastric juices and cause insulin levels to rise. - Drinking chilled water can shrink your blood vessels and disrupt the digestion process? It can also cause you to hold on to unwanted fat since cold temperatures solidify fat in the food you eat. - If you're standing or walking around while you drink, you're likely to do it faster, which, as you learned earlier, is bad for your digestion and overall health. - Even though it might be challenging, try giving yourself a little time to sit down and sip on some water a few times a day. Even if it's just 5 minutes, it can benefit your health. - By not drinking water first thing after waking up, even before brushing your teeth, you are depriving yourself of health benefits. - According to a study published in the American Journal of Epidemiology in 2002, water and other fluids can aid in the prevention of fatal coronary heart disease. - Drinking water just before bed can help improve circulation during the night. Since heart attacks are more likely to occur in the morning, this fluid intake at night is incredibly important. Leonard Smith, the man who admitted to killing Lyman Bostock in a jealous rage, a man arrested more than half a dozen times, receives the jury's verdict. The decision stuns the courtroom, and the country. And leads to thoughts of vengeance. Years after the verdict, we tried to find Smith, to ask him about his life after the murder. He was living back in Gary, 6 blocks from where he killed Bostock. The encounter still echoes for Tom years later, as he replays that interaction with Smith.
We make the drive with Youvene to Inglewood Park Cemetery, to return to Lyman's grave. She hadn't allowed herself to visit in more years than she could remember, as she tries to reconcile his loss, and her memories of their time together. We hear from those Wesley touched, as they consider his life and its legacy. We also return to Gary to see what became of the man who killed Leonard Smith and Tom tries to come to terms with the regrets of his encounter with Leonard. The series finale.

Chaos exists in systems all around us. Even the simplest system of cause and effect can be subject to chaos, denying us accurate predictions of its behaviour, and sometimes giving rise to astonishing structures of large-scale order. Our growing understanding of Chaos Theory is having fascinating applications in the real world - from technology to global warming, politics, human behaviour, and even gambling on the stock market. Leonard Smith shows that we all have an intuitive understanding of chaotic systems. He uses accessible maths and physics (replacing complex equations with simple examples like pendulums, railway lines, and tossing coins) to explain the theory, and points to numerous examples in philosophy and literature (Edgar Allen Poe, Chang-Tzu, Arthur Conan Doyle) that illuminate the problems. The beauty of fractal patterns and their relation to chaos, as well as the history of chaos, and its uses in the real world and implications for the philosophy of science are all discussed in this Very Short Introduction. ABOUT THE SERIES: The Very Short Introductions series from Oxford University Press contains hundreds of titles in almost every subject area. These pocket-sized books are the perfect way to get ahead in a new subject quickly. Our expert authors combine facts, analysis, perspective, new ideas, and enthusiasm to make interesting and challenging topics highly readable. --- This episode is sponsored by · Anchor: The easiest way to make a podcast. https://anchor.fm/app --- Send in a voice message: https://anchor.fm/pbliving/message Support this podcast: https://anchor.fm/pbliving/support

Early childhood dental caries (ECC) are the most chronic infection now among children between ages two and five. The culprit is sugar. ECC’s are about much more than just baby teeth. “Caries” is another term for cavities, and they can be prevented if you know what to do. The teeth effect the health of every system in the body. Infectious diseases from this are preventable. How do early childhood dental caries affect children? Children with autism very commonly have problems with their teeth due to poor absorption of nutrition from an ill gut, inflammation, toxicity, and internal infections including Lyme, mold biotoxins, PANS/strep and staph(MARCoNS). Their body is in a state of chronic stress. This in turn elevates the stress hormone called cortisol. There is a chronic inflammatory response from body infections or from untreated dental caries. Get your free mold and Lyme resource guide here. The behavioral impact on neural development continues on into adulthood if ECC’s are not properly treated. It’s now proven that adults with dental disease correlate to coronary heart disease. Microbes from periodontal disease are linked to inflammation in the brain and due to the brain’s response to the inflammation it creates various types of neural disruption and has been associated with Alzheimer’s. What makes us susceptible and what can we do to prevent ECC’s? If a parent has a history of bad teeth then the child is more susceptible. The gut also has an impact on the overall immune system and chronic infections. Staph infection in the nasal passageways, and other sinus infections drip bacteria into the moth causing decay so keeping the sinus’ clear and healthy is important. A xylitol spray can be even more helpful that a saline nasal spray. Early childhood prevention of dental carries begins at birth. The first dental visit should be at six months of age, and no later than age one. Be sure to see a pediatric dental specialist. There’s no need to wait until your child’s first tooth erupts to begin oral hygiene. Any remaining food, including breastmilk, left in the mouth can begin bacterial overgrowth. Wipe your child’s gums clean after each feeding of any kind. Never give a bottle to them at bedtime or to go to bed with. Know that milk and juices contain high amounts of sugar and can cause decay. It’s also important to supplement with adequate amounts of vitamin D3 for strong teeth and bones. What symptoms do I look for? A child with untreated ECC learns to think that tooth pain is normal. It may be why your child is a picky eater, or seems to be. Click Here for more details.

One of my favorite sitcoms both on radio and television was Madison High School's Connie Brooks... the English Teacher... Our Miss Brooks. This sitcom with an incredibly talented supporting cast of Richard Crenna, Gale Gordon, Jeff Chandler, Jane Morgan, Gloria McMillan, Leonard Smith, Mary Jane Croft, Isabel Randolph, and Minerva (Mrs. Davis's cat) made this show one of the most popular comedies on radio. It had a 9 year run on CBS from 1948-57. From 1952-56 it was adapted for television and lasted much longer in re-runs. More "Our Miss Brooks" in the "Comedy" playlist.

IT's COMING - October 1st: A Place Called Desire Kickstarter Campaign Join Producer Leonard Smith of LS3Studios.com for a discussion about a unique project to chronicle the story of an African American community located in the Upper Ninth Ward of New Orleans, Louisiana called Desire. Leonard Smith has worked tirelessly to interview residents of this community to capture the essence of what it meant for African American families to become homeowners after World War II in one of the first communities designated for returning Veterans. In addition, this self contained community of schools, grocery stores, a theatre and religious institutions provided the opportunity for the residents to develop a strong bond with their humble beginnings. A Place Called DESIRE documentary will show how the effects of two powerful, catastrophic disasters, took aim on this once tight-knit community. These disasters are only intensified by the lack of movement from the local, state and federal governments. The goal is to show how residents and former residents are left with a feeling of being forgotten. The clouds of abandonment and homelessness hang low over the once thriving community of Desire. The kickstarter campaign will provide the needed funds to bring this story to life. Please support this campaign with your generous contribution to A PLACE CALLED DESIRE- Kickstarter campaign. www.ls3studios.com www.APlaceCalledDesire.com

Our Miss Brooks, an American situation comedy, began as a radio hit in 1948 and migrated to television in 1952, becoming one of the earlier hits of the so-called Golden Age of Television, and making a star out of Eve Arden (1908-1990) as comely, wisecracking, but humane high school English teacher Connie Brooks. The show hooked around Connie's daily relationships with Madison High School students, colleagues, and pompous principal Osgood Conklin (Gale Gordon), not to mention favourite student Walter Denton (future television and Rambo co-star Richard Crenna, who fashioned a higher-pitched voice to play the role) and biology teacher Philip Boynton ( Jeff Chandler), the latter Connie's all-but-unrequited love interest, who saw science everywhere and little else anywhere. THIS EPISODE: January 1, 1956. CBS network. Sponsored by: Colgate Toothpaste, Lustre Creme Shampoo, Palmolive Soap. "What The Board Of Education Means To Me." Walter's essay and Mr. Conklin's deafness. A funny show! The program may be dated January 4, 1956.
