Episode DescriptionWhen you think about 1980s killers, names like Bundy, Ramirez, and Dahmer come to mind. But what about the women? In this episode of Terror Talk: Killer Minds and Creepy Stuff, Shannon and [co-host's name] pull back the curtain on female psychopaths of the decade — both the ones who made headlines and the ones who terrified us on screen. We move through the decade year by year, uncovering shocking real crimes:Christine Falling, the teenage babysitter turned child killer.Genene Jones, the Texas nurse who murdered infants in her care.Diane Downs, whose narcissism led her to shoot her own children.Dorothea Puente, the “sweet old lady” running a boarding house of death.Griselda Blanco, the ruthless “Cocaine Godmother.”And the emergence of Aileen Wuornos, one of history's most infamous female serial killers. At the same time, Hollywood and international horror were building their own female psychopath archetypes:The Fan (1981) and the dangers of obsession.Bloody Birthday and Butcher, Baker, Nightmare Maker tearing apart family and innocence.Fatal Attraction (1987), where Glenn Close redefined the “woman scorned.”And finally Misery (1990), with Kathy Bates's Oscar-winning portrayal of Annie Wilkes.Together, we explore why these women — real and fictional — terrified the world. Why did betrayal of trust by mothers, nurses, and lovers cut deeper than stranger-danger? And what did these portrayals reveal about shifting gender roles, cultural anxieties, and the way society views dangerous women? This episode is part history lesson, part cultural analysis, and part psychological deep dive into why the 1980s cemented the female psychopath as both a real and reel icon.✨ Listen now and step into a decade where lipstick, motherhood, and obsession became weapons just as lethal as knives and guns.

Kevin and Lauren are back, sans Andrew, this week, and they are discussing Bring Her Back, Too Much, Task, Are You There God? It's Me, Margaret, Friendship, and Our Little Secret. It's another packed week, despite being down a man. Kevin kicks off the show talking about a recently released horror film, Bring Her Back. It's available for rent or purchase right now, but not any streamers just yet. As a rental, it's definitely worth the $6. Kevin touts it as one of the better horror films he's seen in recent memory, and, as pure horror goes, it may actually be better than Weapons (which he absolutely loved). It's a possession story involving teenage kids and a crazy foster mom, but it's tense all the way through, and all of the actors, kids included, are spectacular. After the scares, Lauren flips the switch and takes us over to comedy with the Netflix series, Too Much. And, if Lauren's review is any indication, it may be just a little too much... This is a Lena Dunham project starring Megan Stalter of Hacks fame, and it tells the semi-autobiographical story of a woman's move to London, post-breakup. While the premise sounds familiar and it has a host of solid actors, the comedy itself feels just a bit too broad, and, though the potential is there, the show just misses the mark by a little bit. That said, if you love Lena Dunham, you may still enjoy this one. Next up, Kevin takes us over to HBO for the new crime drama, Task, starring Mark Ruffalo and Tom Pelfry. This is from the creators of Mare of Easttown and, if you liked that one, this seems like it'll scratch that same itch. Ruffalo and Pelfrey are on opposite sides of the law as a washed-up FBI task force leader and small-time criminal, respectively. Their worlds are on a collision course by the end of the first episode, which sets up some serious drama for the rest of the season. It's a slow burn at first, but worth jumping in on now. Once again, lightening the mood, is Lauren, with 2023's Are You There God? It's Me, Margaret. The Judy Bloom classic stars Rachel McAdams and Kathy Bates, and manages to beautifully tell the original story without losing any of the charm. It's a coming-of-age story for women everywhere, filled with questions we all struggle with in our teen years. The performances are wonderful, and the story is a classic, so give this one a shot if you need that solid, heartfelt film. Somehow, Kevin can't just let us be happy today. His next review is of the film, Friendship, now on HBO, and starring Paul Rudd and Tim Robinson. It's not often that Kevin comes in this hot on a film, but he absolutely HATED this one. It's billed as comedy, and the trailers set it up as a very dark comedy, but really, it's just a cringe-inducing depression-fest that left Kevin feeling very disappointed. We definitely invite anyone who has seen this one to share their thoughts, good or bad, because Kevin has never been quite so confused by the hype over a film before. Lauren takes us out on a fun, albeit formulaic, romcom, Our Little Secret. This is your typical Christmas movie fare, but the draw here for Lauren was the chance to check up on the career of former child star, Lindsey Lohan. Films like these have been able to keep her working until the recent Freaky Friday sequel, which actually did quite well at the box office. It'll be interesting to see what her career trajectory is now that she's a mom and has been out of the public eye for a while, but it does look like she has a path forward, which is great! As always, thank you for watching. If you haven't already, don't forget to Like & Subscribe. We love new viewers! Also, leave us comments and let us know how we are doing and what we can be doing better. Enjoy the episode and have a great week! Marvel director Kat Coiro https://www.imdb.com/name/nm0192478 covers everything from working with day players to why directors have to take acting classes. Once an actor herself, Kat has mastered the art of infusing enthusiasm into every set and using that energy to supercharge collaboration. Kat's worn every hat—writer, actor, director, producer, EP, and more. And while CAA found her because of her short film, her deep understanding of each role on set propelled her into a coveted career directing "Marry Me" with Owen Wilson and Jennifer Lopez, "Matlock" with Kathy Bates, Marvel's "She Hulk: Attorney at Law", to name a few. Is there ever over-preparing as a director? Not according to Kat. It's all about putting in the work, asking questions of your showrunner, and really investing into its world. And she doesn't downplay the ability to leverage commercial sensibilities, and pitching with decks and details that can take weeks simply on spec. This week on The Watchers, Andrea and Jodie are snowed in with Stephen King's Misery, Rob Reiner's chilling two-hander adaptation that won Kathy Bates her Oscar and taught us to fear typewriters, sledgehammers, and devoted fans bearing soup. We talk about King's real-life inspiration for the story, the long and winding road to casting Paul Sheldon, and why this movie manages to be terrifying, funny, and oddly cozy all at once.Next week, we're moving from one devoted nurse with a questionable bedside manner to another, trading Annie Wilkes for Nurse Ratched in One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest.If you're reading this, that means you've probably got your podcatcher of choice open right now. Reuniting the Titanic team of Leonardo DiCaprio and Kate Winslet (not to mention Kathy Bates) was something audiences had wanted for more than a decade. Maybe they didn't expect another doomed romance that was also bleak and sad. Revolutionary Road is about middle-class ennui, quiet desperation and the cruelty of hope. And the stars are terrific playing unextraordinary people yearning for something else, even if everybody keeps poo-pooing their plan to move to Paris. Director Sam Mendes' movie was a disappointment at the box office and it didn't get a wealth of Oscar nominations either. The film ages well though...maybe more if you're a certain age. Ryan's solo show talks about how a 50+-year-old can relate better to the themes than his 34-year-old self could. The flick isn't fun, but it's very well done...and Winslet has rarely been better. THE MIRACLE CLUB is a multiple protagonist, miniplot, story. That means that each protagonist is also an antagonist. Sounds cool, right? But how the heck do you pull it off? Well one of the ways is to give each POV character her own villain's monologue. This film misses on one character and you just have to hear what happens to the story because of it! Melanie continues her study of turning points and this week, she shows us how they impact a story's pacing. In this hilarious and heartwarming episode of Still Here Hollywood, Steven Weber (Wings, Chicago Med, Studio 60) dives into his most memorable celebrity run-ins—from spotting Dolly Parton mid-traffic rant, to brushing elbows with Barbara Streisand, Kathy Bates, and Stephen Soderbergh—all while still geeking out like the lifelong fan he is. Steven and host Steve Kmetko swap unbelievable Hollywood moments, discuss their mutual love of dogs (meet “Cat the dog”), and wax nostalgic about Chicago's theater scene, including the legendary Second City, Steppenwolf, and Goodman Theatre. Weber reflects on his improv roots, regrets about fanboying too hard, and why being cast as “the affable jerk” was both a blessing and a typecast. This episode is a wild ride through Hollywood history, fan encounters, and aging in an industry that doesn't always age with you. #StevenWeber #StillHereHollywood #SteveKmetko #CelebrityStories #WingsTVShow #ChicagoMed #BarbaraStreisand #DollyParton #StephenSoderbergh #SecondCityChicago #SteppenwolfTheatre #ImprovComedy #HollywoodIcons #BehindTheScenes #TVLegends #BroadwayToHollywood #ActorInterview #StevenWeberInterviewShow Credits Host/Producer: Steve Kmetko All things technical: Justin Zangerle Executive Producer: Jim Lichtenstein Music by: Brian Sanyshyn Transcription: Mushtaq Hussain https://stillherehollywood.com http://patreon.com/stillherehollywood Suggest Guests at: stillherehollywood@gmail.com Advertise on Still Here Hollywood: jim@stillherenetwork.com Publicist: Maggie Perlich: maggie@numbertwelvemarketing.com

A CLASSIC ROCKER FINDS OUT HE HAS A LOVE CHILD FROM THE 80's, some insane Movies announced and A wild list of celebrities and how they caught their significant others cheating… it's like celebs are just like us guys!CRAP ON FRIDAY Rick Moranis has been gone way too long. Even those new "Ghostbusters" movies didn't lure him back to Hollywood. But I am quite excited to announce that he WILL return to once again play Dark Helmet in "Spaceballs 2"!!! Bill Pullman will return as the hero Lone Starr, too. And Mel Brooks will be back as Yogurt . . . and, presumably . . . President Skroob. (He played both characters in the original.) Josh Gad co-wrote the script, and he's expected to be in it, too. Pullman's son Lewis Pullman has also been cast, along with Keke Palmer . . . but there's no word who they're playing. There's also no word on any other returning cast members. Obviously, John Candy, Joan Rivers, and Dick Van Patten won't be back, since they're no longer with us. Mel released the first teaser yesterday. There's no footage, since filming hasn't begun yet. It starts with a text crawl that makes fun of all the "Star Wars" prequels, sequels, sequels to the prequels, prequels to the sequels, and TV spin-offs. Then it lists all the "Dune", "Jurassic Park", "Avatar", and Marvel movies, plus DC's TWO attempts to start a cinematic universe . . . and just about every other overdone franchise you can name. Then, after a quick appearance from Mel, we get a shot of Rick Moranis' cracked helmet, and the tagline: "The Schwartz Awakens in 2027." Which sounds like a possible title but it's spaceballs and mel brooks so it could be anything. Here is Mel making his announcement. Jerry Seinfeld Proposes ‘Live-Action Sequel' to 'Bee Movie'Jerry Seinfeld has people buzzin' with this idea! The comedic genius posted about the possibility of a “live-action sequel” to his 2007 animated hit Bee Movie.“Bee Movie, which came out nearly 20 years ago, is #4 on Netflix,” he wrote on Instagram showing a hand holding a tennis ball with a honey bee on it. The next slide was the movie's poster, an image of Seinfeld's character Barry B. Benson similarly straddling a tennis ball.“Today, my friend Spike Feresten, one of the writers on the film, was playing tennis and this happened."He continued, “Clearly a sign. Time for a live-action sequel..?" DreamWorks' Bee Movie, which Seinfeld produced, co-wrote, and starred in along with Renée Zellweger, has become a cult favorite since its release.Bee Movie also featured the voices of Matthew Broderick, John Goodman, Chris Rock, Kathy Bates, Megan Mullally, Oprah Winfrey, and several celebrities appearing as animated versions of themselves, including Larry King, Ray Liotta, and Sting.Saint Louis' own Nelly and Ashanti are putting their lives on TV for all to see. They announced an upcoming reality show called Nelly & Ashanti: We Belong Together.A show synopsis says Nelly and Ashanti "rekindle their love, navigate the ups and downs of being newlyweds and new parents, and juggle their careers."The eight-episode series will air on Peacock starting June 26th.A DNA Test Connects Billy Idol To A Son He Didn't Know He HadDetails on the lovechild Billy Idol didn't know he had until a few years ago have surfaced.Idol's daughter, Bonnie, shared in the new doc, 'Billy Idol Should Be Dead', "My husband just surprised me with a DNA test as a Christmas present [a few years ago]. Then a few weeks later, I get the results back on the app and open it and I'm like, who is this? This Brant. His info reads, 'New York, 1985, looking for my biological dad.' I was like, ‘What?'"Brant, Idol's lovechild, grew up believing his dad was someone else until a different DNA questioned his mother's claims about his father. After confronting his mom, she told Brant, "Well, it's pretty crazy, but back in the day, we broke up and I actually spent a weekend with Billy Idol."Fans have done the math and calculate that Brant was conceived during Idol's wildly successful 1984 'Rebel Yell' tour.Idol has whole-heartedly accepted Brant as family, saying, "I really enjoyed being a dad. I always wanted a boy and a girl, and I finagled my way into a boy and a girl. I actually had a son that I didn't realize, who I fathered on the Rebel Yell tour without knowing it. So I somehow finagled this as well."Brant was at Idol's Walk of Fame ceremony back in 2023.Prime Video Will Soon Show Double The AdsAmazon Prime Video is about to double the number of commercials shown per hour on its ad-supported membership level. An Adweek report got the news from an Amazon spokesperson about the amount of commercials going to "four to six minutes per hour" from the two to three minutes that Prime users are used to. In 2024, subscribers who had ad-free access were forced to pay an extra $3 a month to maintain the status. Jay-Z Loses $1 Million NBA Finals Bet Jay-Z is out $1 million after losing a bet on the NBA Finals. Jay placed a bet prior to the series, banking on the Oklahoma City Thunder to win the championship in five games. After Wednesday night's Thunder loss to the Indiana Pacers, OKC can't win the series unless they do it in six or seven games. Jay-Z would have won $3.5 million if the bet had cashed in. With a net worth of $2.5 billion, we're sure Jay-Z will be alright. Ok you guys remember Spinal Tap? The Album cover debate with the label and why it became an all black cover or as Nigel would say NONE MORE BLACK? It was because the original had a woman on all fours with a dog leash on and it was deemed sexist…. To which Nigel replies “Whats wrong with being sexy? Well get this, Sabrina Carpenter announced her new album yesterday, and it's causing a lot of controversy. It's called "Man's Best Friend", and the cover has Sabrina on all fours, in front of a man who's pulling a handful of her hair. A women's advocacy group in Scotland called it "regressive", saying it reduces women to, quote, "pets, props, and possessions," and promotes "an element of violence and control." Sabrina's fans are defending it as SATIRE, and a commentary on how badly women are treated. And some are pointing out that the first single, "Manchild", actually makes FUN of men. HERE IS A CLIP OF THATMeanwhile, in the new "Rolling Stone" cover story, Sabrina talks about being criticized for the sexual imagery in her stage show. She says, quote "It's always so funny to me when people complain. They're like, 'All she does is sing about this.' But those are the songs that you've made popular. Clearly you love sex. You're obsessed with it." She adds, quote, "I truly feel like I've never lived in a time where women have been picked apart more, and scrutinized in every capacity. I'm not just talking about me. I'm talking about every female artist that is making art right now." Pope Leo isn't even the most famous guy in his family. The "New York Times" researched his family tree, and found out that he's related to a bunch of celebrities. The link is an ancestor from about six generations back. He name was Louis Boucher de Grandpre, and he was born in Quebec. And because of him, Leo is distant cousins with Justin Bieber, Justin Trudeau, Angelina Jolie, Hillary Clinton, Jack Kerouac, and Madonna. It's interesting that Leo would be related to Madonna, given that the Catholic Church has condemned her several times . . . most famously when she released her "Like a Prayer" video in 1989. A few years ago, Madonna reached out to Pope Francis, asking to meet with him to discuss "important matters." She told him, quote, "I've been ex-communicated 3 times. It doesn't seem fair." If you've ever wondered how the creators of "Friends" came up with the character of Joey Tribbiani . . . we might just have the answer this morning. Joey Lawrence claims Matt LeBlanc's character was based on HIS character Joey Russo from "Blossom". Lawrence says, quote, "Joey Russo was so successful that when they were creating 'Friends', they wanted a 25-year-old version of that." Supposedly, Matt's character wasn't even originally called Joey, but they changed it because the "Blossom" character was so successful. Joey even claims that Matt was sent to tapings of "Blossom" where he would, quote, "sit up in the audience with a yellow notepad and take notes on how I portrayed Joey Russo." He says they wanted Matt to bring the "innocence" of Joey Russo to Joey Tribbiani, so the character could, quote, "get away with his womanizing." I guess the Grammys were sick of hearing about whether Beyoncé deserved to win Best Country Album for "Cowboy Carter". So, they just announced a major change. For next year's Grammys, the award formally known as Best Country Album will now be called Best Contemporary Country Album . . . and they will also be adding a new category: Best Traditional Country Album. There's a lot to unpack here. And one year after Beyoncé wins makes the timing of this all the more clickbait-y. According to the Grammy website, "traditional country music", quote, "adheres to the more traditional sound structures of the country genre, including rhythm and singing style, lyrical content, as well as traditional country instrumentation such as acoustic guitar, steel guitar, fiddle, banjo, mandolin, piano, and live drums." Where "contemporary country music", quote, "remains reminiscent and relevant to the legacy of country music's culture, while also engaging in more contemporary music forms." Someone tweeted, "Morgan Wallen and Post Malone better not be in the traditional country category at the Grammys, because in what world are they traditional country?" Wait, hold up. When Morgan collaborated with Alvin and the Chipmunks, that wasn't traditional country??New in Theaters: "How to Train Your Dragon", "Materialists", and "The Life of Chuck" There's nothing like a good breakup story. Here are seven times a celebrity found out their partner was cheating in an unconventional way: 1. Demi Moore learned that Ashton Kutcher was having an affair in 2011, from a Google Alert. When she called him on it, he admitted it right away. Her response was, quote, "Are you [effing] kidding me?" 2. Britney Spears started dating lawyer David Lucado in 2012. But in 2014, her father found out there was paparazzi footage of David kissing another woman. He bought it to prevent it from being released, and Britney broke it off. 3. Kourtney Kardashian dumped Scott Disick in 2008, after finding texts on his phone from a contact called, quote, "my wife." They did the on-and-off thing until 2015, when photos emerged of Scott with another woman in France. 4. Elizabeth Hurley found out Hugh Grant was cheating on her in 1995, when he got arrested for GETTING IT ON with Sunset Boulevard prostitute Divine Brown in his car. They didn't break up until 2000, and they're still friends. 5. Laura Dern found out Billy Bob Thornton was being unfaithful when the news broke that he had ELOPED with Angelina Jolie in 2000. She was away making a movie, and she never saw it coming. 6. Eva Longoria's marriage to NBA star Tony Parker ended in 2010, after she found inappropriate texts with another woman on his phone. 7. This one's ancient history, but it was a HUGE tabloid story back in the day: In 1958, actress Debbie Reynolds was missing her husband, Eddie Fisher, because he was supposedly away on tour. So she decided to give her friend Elizabeth Taylor a call . . . and who answered Liz's phone? Eddie FREAKIN' Fisher. (!!!) Eddie left Debbie and married Liz, but that only lasted five years.See Privacy Policy at https://art19.com/privacy and California Privacy Notice at https://art19.com/privacy#do-not-sell-my-info.

“The most important thing that I've learned as a storyteller is that I have to treat every character in the show as though they're the lead in the show, and they are never doing anything so that I can prompt a move from another character. They are doing things that are true to what they want and their motivation. So that's what makes that architecture hard, because you know you want things to happen, but they have to happen coming out of character, not coming out of what the room wants to see happen. So it's like the merging of those two. We know what architecture we want, but if it doesn't feel true to the character, the character wouldn't do it. Every time, you've got to say no, even though it's tempting, because that is who you have to protect – your characters,” says Jennie Snyder Urman, creator and showrunner of Matlock, about creating story architecture in a series. On today's episode, we talk with Jennie Snyder Urman, who created the reboot of Matlock starring Kathy Bates as Madeline Matlock. We chat about reinventing the beloved character once played by Andy Griffith, the joy of building a show around an older female lawyer and the generational changes in social attitudes women experience, and the sacrifices women often make when it comes to sexual harassment, including Matty herself. “[Matty] realizes now, coming back [to the legal profession], what it cost her. And it's not like every day she was thinking about it. It was just, ‘Oh my gosh, I made these changes to avoid this. And why do I have to make these changes? Why didn't that person make the changes so I could be in the space where I was comfortable?' And I think what's so exciting about Maddie is that she's still learning new things at 75. I think there's also a little bit of a wish fulfillment, that you can still evolve, and you still learn, and you still feel new things,” says Urman. This week Jef decided enough was enough so he picked a good movie for a change of scenery. What "good" movie do you ask? One right in Jef's sweet spot, none other than 1990's "MISERY"! Josh and Brian were caught off guard by this "good" movie pick thrown into the mix. They were not quite sure if they were bummed or excited to watch James Caan stink up a bed for 2 hours, but the one thing they did know is this would not be a difficult film to watch this week and talk about. Sure they may have had their reasons for the lackluster reception to Jef's pick, but they knew in their hearts this would be a nice break from the dog shit they usually watch...and LOVE. Plus they knew the listener's would probably hoist Jef upon their shoulders and hail him as their saviour....at least for this week.

Well, he sure tried with 1989's Always, a film where John Goodman plays Monterey Jack of the Rescue Rangers, Richard Dreyfuss riffs to no one as an annoying ghost, and Holly Hunter falls in love with the most dull hottie at the Plane Depot.
