Fear is a natural, protective response, often trying to keep us safe from perceived dangers. But what happens when our fears become blown out of proportion and start guiding our decisions in ways that don't serve us? In this episode, Elizabeth Mintun explores a reframe of many fears as shadow puppets - seemingly ominous and large, when so often they are projected from situations or things that are not actually as large or threatening as they seem. Key Takeaways: Naming the fear can help create mental distance between the situation and the fearful emotion. Noticing what is happening non-judgmentally can be very useful in practicing compassion and managing/navigating the fear. Body-based relaxation strategies can help! Sermon Manuscript: Ephesians 5:1-15 Series: Text Messages Title: Shadow Puppets Date: 10.16.22 Ephesians 5:1a (NLT) Imitate God, therefore, Ephesians 4:25-32 (NLT) So stop telling lies. Let us tell our neighbors the truth, 28 If you are a thief, quit stealing. 29 Don't use foul or abusive language. 30 And do not bring sorrow to God's Holy Spirit by the way you live. 31 Get rid of all bitterness, rage, anger, harsh words, and slander, as well as all types of evil behavior. 32 Instead, be kind to each other, tenderhearted, forgiving one another, just as God through Christ has forgiven you. Ephesians 5:1-2 (NLT) Imitate God, therefore, in everything you do, because you are his dear children. 2 Live a life filled with love, following the example of Christ. He loved us and offered himself as a sacrifice for us, a pleasing aroma to God. Point number 1 in your Notes: All actions of all Christians reflect Jesus. John 8:11a (NLT) “No, Lord,” she said. John 8:11b (NLT) And Jesus said, “Neither do I. Go and sin no more.” John 5:14b (NASB) “Behold, you have become well; do not sin anymore” Point number 2 in your Notes: Non-Believers can see a loving God when Christians distance themselves from sin. John 13:12-15 (NLT) After washing their feet, he put on his robe again and sat down and asked, “Do you understand what I was doing? 13 You call me ‘Teacher' and ‘Lord,' and you are right, because that's what I am. 14 And since I, your Lord and Teacher, have washed your feet, you ought to wash each other's feet. 15 I have given you an example to follow. Do as I have done to you. Ephesians 5:3 (NLT) Let there be no sexual immorality, impurity, or greed among you. Such sins have no place among God's people. Ephesians 5:3 (ESV) But sexual immorality and all impurity or covetousness must not even be named among you, as is proper among saints. Point number 3 on in your Notes: Christians are God's people. They are saints. There is no place for sin amongst God's saints. Colossians 3:5 (NLT) So put to death the sinful, earthly things lurking within you. Have nothing to do with sexual immorality, impurity, lust, and evil desires. Don't be greedy, for a greedy person is an idolater, worshiping the things of this world. Exodus 20:17 (NLT) “You must not covet your neighbor's house. You must not covet your neighbor's wife, male or female servant, ox or donkey, or anything else that belongs to your neighbor.” Ephesians 5:4-7 (NLT) Obscene stories, foolish talk, and coarse jokes—these are not for you. 6 Don't be fooled by those who try to excuse these sins, for the anger of God will fall on all who disobey him. 7 Don't participate in the things these people do. Ephesians 5:8-9 (NASB) for you were once darkness, but now you are light in the Lord; walk as children of light 9 (for the fruit of the light consists in all goodness, righteousness, and truth), 1 John 1:5-7 (NASB) This is the message we have heard from Him and announce to you, that God is Light, and in Him there is no darkness at all. 6 If we say that we have fellowship with Him and yet walk in the darkness, we lie and do not practice the truth; 7 but if we walk in the Light as He Himself is in the Light, we have fellowship with one another, and the blood of Jesus His Son cleanses us from all sin. John 8:12 (NASB) Then Jesus again spoke to them, saying, “I am the Light of the world; the one who follows Me will not walk in the darkness, but will have the Light of life.” Point number 4 in your Notes: A Christian's life should never eclipse God's Light. Ephesians 5:10-15 (NLT) Carefully determine what pleases the Lord. 11 Take no part in the worthless deeds of evil and darkness; instead, expose them. 12 It is shameful even to talk about the things that ungodly people do in secret. 13 But their evil intentions will be exposed when the light shines on them, 14 for the light makes everything visible. 15 So be careful how you live. Don't live like fools, but like those who are wise.

By flickering candlelight, Chinese storytellers have been telling tales with exquisite, colourful shadow puppets for over two-thousand years. Surviving war, famine, regime changes and revolutions, this is one of the world's oldest and most intricate storytelling traditions. I look at the music, singing, and puppetry of the artform, the training its mastery requires, why it has a decentralized, anarchist structure, how it survived its tumultuous history, and what a future version of Chinese shadow puppetry might look like. This is Part Three in the second season of Stories from the Hearth's bonus historical and interview series: The Wandering Bard. Each season of The Wandering Bard examines a different aspect of the history and nature of storytelling, as well as people behind it. In season two of The Wandering Bard, we ask the question “Who are the storytellers?”, and in today's episode, we examine the Griots of West Africa. The next episode in The Wandering Bard series will be an extra special interview episode with Joe Fisher of sci-fi audio drama podcast Midnight Burger.Stories from the Hearth is an experimental storytelling experience ft. truly original fiction and thoughtfully produced soundscapes. The aim of this podcast is to rekindle its listeners' love for the ancient art of storytelling (and story-listening), and to bring some small escapism to the frantic energies of the modern world. Stories from the Hearth is the brainchild of queer punk poet, environmentalist, and anarchist Cal Bannerman. With comparisons to Blackbear, The Chainsmokers & Zedd with his melodic yet dancey pop, singer songwriter AESTHETIC made his debut with his first single “Happy Again” on New Years Eve 2017 with the intent to take 2018 by storm. The song was largely inspired by his personal dealings with depression with all money made benefitting the Anxiety and Depression Association of America. AESTHETIC, born Brandon Karasinski, had his first exposure to music listening to artists of the 90's boy band movement. After picking up guitar at the age of 9, he played in various bands from the Lehigh Valley, PA area across a 10 year span, in which he recorded several singles and shared the stage with artists such as Our Last Night, Trace Cyrus and Set It Off. After taking some time off to rediscover his passion for making music, AESTHETIC was born. He connected with producer Austin Hull through the online Facebook group “MAKE POP MUSIC: Pop Producers and Songwriters” and recorded his debut single “Happy Again.” After much success with his debut, he released the tracks “Shadow Puppets” and "Milestones" in 2018. The following year AESTHETIC released "Hold Me Down" in fall 2019, "Good" in 2020. With the 5th release on the way, 2021 is shaping up to be AESTHETIC's biggest year yet. In this podcast he shares how his Grandfather raised him on Elvis, the Beatles and Frank Sinatra with his Dad giving him musical influences from the 70's Led Zeppelin and Van Halen you can tell he is making his mark for his own generation's take on these along with a heavily influenced Star Wars fan! The positive vibes we get from his songs are grown from mental health and depression struggles that he has dealt with and raised money for charity that support people in depression and anxiety. Bring a voice and sharing from a place of vulnerability is a shining light for any of us who are struggling. He lets us know that you're not alone, you are beautiful and life is all about living a good life. Connect with Brandon - aka Aesthetic: Facebook Spotify YouTube Instagram Other Music Links

Fear the Walking Dead Season 6 Episode 5 was written by Ashley Cardiff and directed by Michael E. Satrazemis. We also discuss a little bit about World Beyond Episode 6 titled Shadow Puppets. Welcome to the Dead show. Monday's back so it's time for some Walking Dead. Today's episode covers, Fear's "Honey" and World Beyond's "Shadow Puppets". Whitebeard said he'd give World Beyond one more chance to Wow him, we'll see if he changed his opinion of the show. Dwight and Sherry are together and have plans to stop Virginia. And the masked people, kinda reminds us of some people on TWD. Are you ready to talk ill of the dead? Let's go. Psst... opening outtakes too. --- Support this podcast: https://anchor.fm/t-anthony-bland/support
The Fear the Walking Dead Online Viewing Party S6E5 Honey + TWD: World Beyond S1E6 Shadow Puppets Tonight's show contains SPOILERS up through the last episode, + possible information from current AMC official Walking Dead promo materials! Typically we start the show a half hour before the new episode airs live each week, with recap from the previous episode, and discussion of what is to come tonight. At 9:00 pm, we'll go dark or mute, and watch the new episode together, and give episode ratings from 1-10 and commentary during the commercial breaks. We will also give our listeners trivia on the show as well as the cast and crew, including bios, birthdays, and more. Our show is SPOILER and COMIC FREE. Please don't discuss either spoilers or the comics in the chat or on the air - we prefer our discussions, reactions, and comments, to be just about what we know from the show presented. Tonight's Episode of Fear is entitled: "Honey." Official AMC Synopsis: “Dwight and Sherry team up with a mysterious faction of people to take down Ginny. But Morgan unexpectedly offers to help, a power struggle ensues.” Tonight's Episode of TWD: World Beyond is S1E6, "Shadow Puppets." Synopsis: "When an unexpected newcomer (Percy) reveals information that could help them reach their destination (New York), the group cuts a deal. While some are intrigued by the new arrival, others are suspicious."
This week’s episode introduces us to a new character by the name of Percy. Can the group trust him or is he destined to create further problems for them moving forward?
This episode finally answered the question of what would happen if our gang of merry #CampusColony misfits actually ran across people. More than that: it also allowed us to discuss the ills of #Mediums / #FaithHealers / #Homeopathy, the power of suggestion / obedience / authority, the wonder that is #Conjuring / #Illusionists, and to pay our respects to #TheAmazingRandi: #JamesRandi, himself #RIP. Talking Through The Key For this episode 71 of Fear the Walking Dead Talk Through, LT, Kyle and Brian talk through The Key. Fear the Walking Dead Season 6 Episode 4 was written by David Johnson and directed by Ron Underwood. We also discuss a little bit about World Beyond Episode 5 titled The Madman Across the Water. We had some issues this week when trying to record and Kyle couldn’t make it due to work and other issues so everyone recorded their own parts and Kyle edited together so it’s a little different but in the end it worked out fine. BRIAN’S NOTE: Actually, everything did NOT work out fine. Most of my segments were left out of the recording this week, due to a lack some confusion as far as how many segments I had recorded, although a few of them were read by Kyle. I had recorded a segment for each segment we have in the episode. My rating was 9.4/10, which I believe was one of the things left off. I’ll have to go back and update this after I do. John Dorie gets pushed to the limits! In this episode, John Dorie seems to be adjusting to this new Ginny controlled world and top cop of Lawton. That all changes with the murder of another citizen of Lawton and Sherif John is on the case. But we are not in a right vs wrong kind of world and in the end, Ginny is the one who calls the shots. This pushes him to his limits and we see again that there is no justice in the ZA. Morgan is looking for Grace and has Rufus the bloodhound on his side but he gets derailed by those two tagger boys. This does finally clarify that whatever that Key that Morgan has is going to be something important but to whom? Again, Fear the Walking Dead just keeps getting better and better and there is still so much more to come. Send in your feedback! Please leave your feedback! We will be covering Fear The Walking Dead in it’s entirety but if you have feedback about the Spinoff World Beyond we will cover that too, but the main focus will be with Fear! Next time, we’ll cover feedback we get for S6E5 Honey, and then briefly talk through any feedback for The Walking Dead: World Beyond S1E6, titled Shadow Puppets. Giving Life to PuppetryIn this second episode of our two-part interview with Richard Bradshaw, we discuss UNIMA Australia, a book about shadow puppets, Norman Hetherington of Mr Squiggle and how Richard makes his puppets so distinct and engaging for young audiences.-World renowned shadow puppet master Richard Bradshaw needs no introduction to the international puppetry community. His work has been seen by millions through a life time of stage performances all over the world and through television appearances including “The Muppet Show” and an hour-long documentary in the series “Jim Henson Presents The World of Puppetry”. Australian children grew up with performances of his shadow artistry on ABC TV's “Playschool”, where his shadow puppets were broadcast for over 30 years. From 1976 to 1983 Richard was Artistic Director of Australia's then largest puppetry company, the Marionette Theatre of Australia. Under his directorship the company secured a permanent theatre space in The Rocks in Sydney. As Artistic Director, Richard introduced modern puppetry techniques to Australian audiences and inspired many young puppeteers who were given the opportunity to work and learn from some of Australia's best puppeteers and puppet makers.Richard has performed with his shadow puppets for audiences of children and adults for over 50 years to over 25 countries. In 1986 Richard received the Medal of the Order of Australia (OAM) “for services to the arts as a puppeteer” and in 1987 he shared the Sidney Myer Performing Arts Award “for sustained excellence in the field of puppetry”. Richard been a member of the international puppetry organisation, UNIMA, since 1964 and helped to establish UNIMA Australia in 1970. He is an honorary member of both organisations, and was President of UNIMA Australia from 2004 to 2008.In 2015 he published his book “Richard Bradshaw's Guide to Shadow Puppets”, where he shares his techniques for designing, constructing, and performing with silhouette shadow puppets.Make sure you check out the show notes on our websiteAnd join the conversation on our socials@talkingsockcast (Twitter)@oneorangesockproductions (Instagram)Please consider becoming a Patron and support home grown creative content. It was Christmas Eve at the Dragon Café so what better to accompany your Dragon Roast with all the trimmings than a reading of Dickens' "A Christmas Carol" from Lois and others, the presentation of an 'Ice Dragon' by Ivan and Julia, Jill Rock telling us about some of the beautiful artworks made by Café patrons in 2012 and looking forward to 2013, and Max's shadow puppet show, all topped off with an instrumental rendition of "Puff The Magic Dragon".
Now that Chellen is in Bree's apartment they have only to wait for her mom to get home. Chellen is still apprehensive about Bree's strange request, to confront her mother and beat her up. Never the less she will remain in the cramped apartment for a least a little while longer, despite her own reservations. While they wait, Bree shows Chellen her vast collection of things she's scavenged from school. Distinct Poplar is a twice monthly young adult (YA) short story series of dark fantasy and storybook horror, written and narrated by Matt Herzberg. Distinct Poplar takes place in a sprawling city, where the supernatural and fantastic things are common place. This vast metropolis looks and feels like a fairy tale kingdom come to life and thrust unceremoniously into the modern era. Here, people practically live on top of one another, covered in the grime and warships of everyday city living, and always keeping an eye out for the dark and sinister things awaiting just around the corner. Here you will find six legged rat creatures, neighborhood swallowing storms, and cats who stalk children...hungry for their laughter. Dickie Copeland returns to chat about the expansive universe encompassing the novel Ender's Game and all of its sequels and related works, about which there are many spoilers so consider yourself warned! Though Dickie and Jen came to the series from different perspectives, they're fascinated by, fuzzy on, and horrified at the same bits, and both at least masochistic enough to wish they could play the Mind Game. But don't ask them how to pronounce Bonzo or Achilles, because they know they say them both wrong. If you're enjoying PrePopCulture, please rate/review it on iTunes, and like it on Facebook! In this second part of the two-part series, Aubrey and Justin expand on the idea of extracting behavior definition from markup as a completely separate layer. In the process, some provocative suggestions are made for the evolution of HTML and web interactivity in general.
In this two part series, Aubrey and Justin discuss the many facets of touch- and gesture-based interactivity. HTML was never intended to describe interactive components. In part 1, we lay the ground work for this argument and set the stage for part 2, where the only logical solution presents itself.

Shadow Puppets is written and directed by Michael Winnick. It concerns a handful of amnesiacs who awaken to find themselves trapped in an abandoned research facility. While they attempt to figure out their situation and their identities, they are pursued by a mysterious and dangerous shadow creature. The film stars James Marsters (Buffy the Vampire Slayer), Jolene Blalock (Star Trek Enterprise) and Tony Todd (Candyman). Fear, suspicion and paranoia run high in this fun slice of eerie entertainment, where nothing is as it seems and your own shadow is out to get you.
Shadow Puppets abound, and also a short message from Puppeteers of America president Wayne Krefting. VLog created by: Tory Vargas
