Grant Wamack is back on MAS. We talk in depth about Don Glover's new Amazon show SWARM.New MAS podcast series AKIRA PILLED coming soon! Outro song PAIGE TURCO by Gone Wallace.
Tick tock, let’s go! Hitting the news was a report by Marc Malusis of WFAN in New York. He is a beat writer for the New York Giants. He had a trusted source [probably close to the OBJ camp] tell him the the Minnesota Vikings and Cleveland Browns in discussions on a trade for Odell Beckham Jr. The guys from Climbing The Pocket Network discuss the possibility, especially after the Vikes traded Stefon Diggs to the Buffalo Bills. Since then, beat writers for both the Vikings and the Browns have pinged their sources and say there is nothing to this. PA is one of them, and well as Mathew Coller. Malusis came on SKOR North and defended his reporting and source. It may be nothing more than OBJ's people trying to goose along something that isn't there. We will never know at this point. Christian McCafferty receive a sizable extension a couple of days ago, and the panel talked about what that might mean for a Dalvin Cook extension. Hint… it won’t be cheap. Will Dalvin hold out if he doesn’t get one? ESPN replayed the 2009 Vikings vs Green Bay Packers game, and it was good. That team and that season brought back some great memories and feelings. Brett Favre was amazing that year and it stirred feelings on both sides. Ted even gets into how he and Don Glover enjoyed the season together. What did you think of Favre in purple? We hope you enjoy this type of formatted show. Dave and Ted from ‘Good Morning Gjallarhorn’, Jayson, Yinka and Myles from ‘Climbing The Pocket’, Ed from ’Skoldiers’, Nick from ‘The Pocket Protectors’, Matt from ‘In The Huddle’ and Tyler, CTPN’s newest writer, all appreciate you taking in the show. Vikings vs Chiefs… Good morning Horners! Your Minnesota Vikings have flown down to take on the Kansas City Chiefs at Arrowhead Stadium. The place is loud and Chiefs fans raucous. It will be a real test for the purple on the road. Whether Patrick Mahomes plays [and word is he won’t] or Matt Moore who ran Andy Reid’s offense well against the Green Bay Packers last week, it will test the ability of Mike Zimmer’s defense and offense to come out hot. Sleeping through the first quarter won’t hack it because this team can put up points. Will it be a shootout or can the Vikings control the game? That is the big question. The Chiefs have some outstanding receivers. They have Tyreek Hill and Mecole Hardman that “are ungodly fast” as Drew says. They also have one of the best tight ends in the league with Travis Kelce. We all know that good tight ends have caused problems in coverage. The Chiefs also base 68% of their offense with the pass, so Zimmer and George Edwards will have their hands full slowing and stopping that aerial attack. Xavier Rhodes, Trae Waynes and the rest of the defensive backfield will have to play at their best. After an Eeore moment by Ted and Drew, all is not lost because Kirk Cousins is hot! Dave apologizes for his overreaction after last week to the guys. He hopes to see lots of Dalvin Cook and the run game, but also would like to see passes beyond ten yards to the Vikings studs like Stefon Diggs, Adam Thielen [hopefully], Irv Smith Jr., Kyle Rudolph, and Dalvin Cook. If the game does turn into a shootout, the Vikes have the weapons to compete. We wrap the show with Drew’s Trivia Challenge, the Vikings vs Chiefs version, and to everyone’s delight, a Don Glover story. This one was about Joe Kapp in Super Bowl IV stirring in a little bit of conspiracy, and who doesn’t like that? This will take you into today’s game prepared and entertained. Are you ready? We hope you enjoy the game, enjoy good friends, good times, and always good food and beverages, and GO VIKINGS! Like, subscribe, and rate us on your favorite podcast aggregator. Then shout SKOL! Vikings vs Lions… Good morning Horners! Here is your Good Morning Gjallarhorn Preview Show. The Minnesota Vikings travel to battle the Detroit Lions for a noon central NFC North division contest. Both teams are 0-2 in the division and even though the outcome of the game may not preclude making the playoffs, it definitely make winning the less likely. That is why this game is important. Kirk Cousins has come off two very good performances vs the Giants and Eagles where he has thrown for over 300 yards and cotton Stefon Diggs involved and producing. Will that continue? This game lines up to favor Dalvin Cook, Alexander Mattison and the run game with the Lions defense being the weakest against the run, but through previous action, the Honolulu Blue has also given up pass production. This game is looking to be one of those almost perfect splits between run and pass unless the Vikings jump out by 21 points. Kevin Stefanski should always start Kirk with some quick passes early to get his confidence up and in rhythm. He does that and the whole game plan opens up including Cook and Mattison having a big game. Drew talks about how Matthew Stafford seems to be playing well and not making his “traditional” bone-head mistakes this season. Matt Patricia and Darrell Bevell indeed have him maxing out his abilities and minimizing his flaws, but the team has had some head scratching results either caused by their play or poor officiating. The Lions lost to the Green Bay Packers on Monday Night in what we saw as an extremely questionable officiated game. There are questions as to whether as fans, we’ll see “makeup calls” in this game? That is easy to take out of the equation though by the Vikings dominating and taking a big lead. Ted knocks another round of Drew’s Trivia, Vikings and Lions edition, out of the park like Jared Allen chasing Dan Orlovsky outside of the endzone, and the show ends with a Don Glover story. Did you know that Ted wanted to be a US Marine? Neither did we. Plenty of laughs will get you going for this one. We hope you’re ready for a great Sunday and as always, GO VIKINGS! Vikings vs Giants… Good morning Horners! Oh, what a week we’ve had as fans! The GMG gang sat down to discuss it, from the reasons why Kirk Cousins prefers to throw the 4 yard check down to CJ Ham over launching it to an open receiver downfield, to one of the said receivers, Stefon Diggs starting to get his diva on. Ted explained that in pretty much a sane matter [he wrote about it too] and asked you, how would you feel? Mike Zimmer leads the squad into Metlife Stadium in New Jersey to play the NY Giants this week in what should be a crucial game to the organization. “Crucial for game 5” you ask? Yes, because of the hot and cold play of the team starting out 2-2. The record isn’t terrible, nor is it not recoverable, but it is how the Vikings played on the road that needs to change if the team wants to make a run into the playoffs at the end of the season. Dalvin Cook should figure in prominently in Sunday’s plans with how the G-Men play the run. They have a tendency to over pursue leading to wide open cutback lanes. Big Blue also has a pretty outstanding young RB themselves in Saquon Barkley who will test the run stopping ability of the Vikings defense if he does actually play but is still recovering from an ankle injury. That vaunted Minnesota defense will also go against the hottest rookie QB of the year, Danny Jones, better known as “Danny Dimes.” He has led the Giants to two consecutive victories in the last two weeks keeping them in play for the NFC East title if they keep it up. The Vikes will try to insure that doesn’t happen. Drew releases another round of his patented trivia, Vikings vs Giants style and Ted is outstanding answering as usual, only needing Dave’s help once. LOL. Don Glover would be proud. Vikings vs Giants… Even though the records are the same, the Vikings are a much better team on paper. The question is, will they show it? Vikings versus Bears… Good morning Horners! Ted, Drew and Dave have assembled to discuss today’s game in Soldier Field against the Bears. In what can sometimes be like a house of horrors with weird stuff that always seems to happen, maybe even an alien burial ground as Ted hypothesized with Giorgio Tsoukalos a few years back. Two of the better defenses in the league will do battle to see who can shut down the opposing offense better. Which one can cause the other’s quarterback to make the most mistakes. Will it be Kirk Cousins or Mitch Trubisky that does just enough to help lead their squad to victory, or will they be the ones directly contributing to this all important NFC North Division loss? With the Packers losing Thursday and the Lions playing the Chiefs, the North looks to be wide open for the taking, and the winner of this game will definitely have an early season advantage on it. Will it be the beloved Minnesota Vikings or the Chicago Bears? *** First, I would like to apologize for the audio issues of the last show. They have been ironed out and should not happen again. Of course Ted still sounds perfect as always, but Drew and Dave sound a lot better now too. The Bears defense is ranked 3rd in points per game going into the contest after thoroughly destroying Case Keenum and the Redskins last week. The Vikings defense ranks 6th in the same category, so it looks to be a low scoring, slug it out game on a wet and slopping field. It is raining now and is not forecast to stop until just after kickoff. It will probably come down to which QB makes the fewest, or less costly mistakes. Hopefully the conditions will favor Dalvin Cook and the Vikings run game more. Then with the passing game, Cousins can exploit the Bears secondary with quick slants and routes splitting the zones. Look for Irv Smith Jr, Kyle Rudolph, Cook, and Alexander Mattison on just those types of plays. The screen game and quick passes with the opportune shot to Adam Thielen and a wide open Stefon Diggs would be great too. Who will spy Trubisky and his ability to run. Anthony Barr or Eric Hendricks? It is Mitch’s only redeeming quality and it has driven the Vikings nuts. This week it must stop! We get into some Vikings vs Bears Trivia and Ted nails just about all of it, from stories of famous Mike Ditka rants as the Bears were defeated by the Vikings, to even a Don Glover story and how he feels about Jay Cutler. Absolute fun stuff going into what should make for an outstanding Sunday. Enjoy good food, beverage, friends and GO VIKINGS! SKOL! Like, subscribe, and rate us on your favorite podcast aggregator. Good morning Horners! Every once in a while, we open the show to listener questions, and today on GMG we do just that. We open the show talking about Minnesota Vikings running back Khari Blasingame. "Who?" You will have to listen to find out. 1. The greatest playoff game in Vikings history. Was it the Minneapolis Miracle, or was it in 1987 against the San Francisco 49ers? 2. Michael asks us who will emerge as the offensive team leader and can it be Garrett Bradbury? 3. Daily Norseman’s own, Just_Rob asks will Dru Samia compete for the starting job and who will be the surprise veteran cut? 4. What if there is a surprise trade? The guys here dream of Trent Williams who is very disappointed with the Redskins. 5. We return with Just_Rob asking if Kyle Sloter is undiscovered GOAT and is the Sloter-mania real? 6. The great Manbear Pigg asks if Chad Beebe or Brandon Lylstra be able to take the WR3 slot? A great discussion ensues including Jordan Taylor, Dillon Mitchell, and previous WR3s Jarius Wright and Aldrich Robinson. 7. Ryno asks who's going to step up and be the 3T defensive tackle? Shamar Stephen comes to the top of the list, but also discussed was Jaleel Johnson, Jalyn Holmes, and even Hercules Matta’afa. 8. The kind and wonderful Mary asks us which 3 rookies are we most excited to watch. Ted, Drew and Dave give their answers. We end the show with a couple of Ted stories about how he was recruited to play college ball, and they include a great Don Glover quote. This and many other things in the show will have you laughing loudly, so listen at work and drive your fellow employees nuts, or listen wherever you feel free to bust up laughing. Good morning Horners! We thought we put out a special episode today, partly to commemorate 50 years ago, and mainly to discuss that rookies report to camp on Monday. 50 years ago today Neil Armstrong was the first man to step on the moon, also 50 years ago the Vikings entered season in which they won the NFL championship. We are going to start hearing and reading stories about the young crop of rookies, that report to camp Monday and will hopefully yield even better results than the team 50 years ago. Ed Brodmarkle of the Skoldiers Podcast joined Dave and Ted on this happy adventure. Discussions ensued over what stories do we expect to see in what Ted calls, "propaganda week?". There will be stories of course over our early draft choices, like how Garrett Bradbury is the second coming of Mick Tinglhoff, Irv Smith Jr and Alexander Mattison should make a difference, along with Dru Samia maybe winning the starting job from Josh Kline similar to how Brian O'Neill did last year, and never giving it back up. We talked about some of the rookie performances we expect, how after a summer of digesting the playbook, they hopefully wouldn't have lost much knowledge, and how having the pads on should help. We ended the show talking again about that 1969 Minnesota Vikings team, and how Joe Kapp was the villain in Super Bowl III. Ted told us of how his dad, Mr. Don Glover, had a theory that after watching the best football team and season ever played, that Joe, fighting with the Vikings over a salary and contract dispute, may have thrown the game. We all miss Don Glover, and I can just imagine him now railing as he told the story. We at Climbing The Pocket Network, your Daily Norseman vod and podcast team hope that you have a fantastic weekend, stay safe, and enjoy.
