We set a new record with this podcast! It's the longest show to date in the existence of The PAPA RON Podcast. However, if you're a football fan and in particular, fan of the Kansas City Chiefs...you're going to absolutely LOVE this episode. Marc and I discuss A LOT! He played football for 4 years at Hastings College in Nebraska. After not getting many looks from NFL teams out of college, he joined the Canadian Football League with the Calgary Stampeders. After 2 years in the CFL he made a name for himself with his performance on the field, which resulted in a lot of attention from the NFL. Marc decided to join the Kansas City Chiefs where he played from 2002-2005. He later signed to played with Bret Farve and the Green Bay Packers in 2006 but was released prior to the season, signing immediately with the Indianapolis Colts where he was later released. He then returned to the CFL that same year with Calgary and finished his career following the 2007 season with the Toronto Argonauts. He most notably holds the record for the longest pass caught in the NFL that went for a Touchdown from QB Trent Green on December 22, 2002 against the San Diego Chargers in Arrowhead Stadium. After discussing his career, Marc discusses the Tyreek Hill trade and its recent controversy. Marc offers insight to the rest of the competition in the AFC West in 2022. He also weighs in on some of the other headlines around the NFL and we even discuss the newly implemented NIL (Name, Image, Likeness) in college sports. We wrap up the podcast with Marc opening up about his own struggle after feeling a loss of identity after leaving the NFL and how he was able to take the steps to overcome the anxiety and depression that came with that. After living that experience, Marc shares his new passion for mental health and discusses the importance of empathy for others. --- This episode is sponsored by · Anchor: The easiest way to make a podcast. https://anchor.fm/app Support this podcast: https://anchor.fm/paparonpodcast/support

Every sports fan in Kansas City knows who George Toma is. Most serious sports fans in the United States know who George Toma is. He is a living institution, not just for Kansas City sports but in the history of the National Football League. He is simply the greatest groundskeeper in the history of American Sports. Over the years, George has been given a handful of colorful nicknames. There's the classic “Sodfather”. Nitty-gritty dirt man, the God of sod and Sultan of sod. George officially retired from full-time work in 1999. He continues to work as a consultant for sports facilities and their groundskeepers around the United States. He was honored by the Pro Football Hall of Fame in 2001 as the recipient of the Ralph Hay Pioneer Award. Toma was inducted into the Major League Baseball Groundskeepers Hall of Fame on January 8, 2012, as one of its charter members. In October of 2012, the K.C. Royals inducted Toma into the club's Hall of Fame. He has maintained the fields at numerous stadiums used by Major League Baseball and the National Football League teams. For much of his career, Toma was the head groundskeeper for the Truman Sports Complex in Kansas City, Missouri; which includes the Kansas City Royals' Kauffman Stadium, and the Kansas City Chiefs' Arrowhead Stadium. He was also contracted by the NFL to prepare the field for every Super Bowl for 56 years. In addition, Toma was called upon to supervise the grounds crews during the 1984 and 1996 Olympic Games, and the 1994 World Cup.

We are ready for the NFL playoffs to go to the next level as the Green Bay Packers and Tennessee Titans join the six winners from the Wildcard weekend and we'll break it all down with underdog selections on 3 Dog Thursday. Host T.J. Rives is back after calling the 49ers upset of the Cowboys to go over doggies that he might like starting with Brian Edwards of Vegas Insider and Majorwager.com. Brian gives his opinion on a couple of Underdogs that he's looking at and why the defending champion Bucs look like a repeat contender for sure. Then, Tyler Jones of "The Jones Report" podcast is back aboard to discuss what he saw in person at Arrowhead Stadium in K.C., as the Chiefs pummeled the Steelers Sunday night. Now, it's onto a rematch from last year's AFC Title game with the Buffalo Bills. While T.J. likes the Bills chances, Tyler disagrees with what he saw from K.C.'s defense. Finally, Jonas Knox morning man of Fox Sports Radio comes on the show to give his insight on why he likes the L.A. Rams against T.J.'s Buccaneers on Sunday. Will Matt Stafford play well enough and can the Bucs protect Tom Brady against the likes of Aaron Donald and Von Miller on the pass rush? The NFL playoffs are finally here! Week 18 had some surprises, along with more than a couple of sure things, but now all bets are off. First up on the slate is the Derek Carr and the Las Vegas Raiders heading to Cincinatti to take on Joe Burrow's Bengals. The Raiders are hot off a wild west shootout against the Chargers last week but can they duel it out again with the Bengals? Following that match up is the 3rd meeting of the New England Patriots and Buffalo Bills. Josh Allen tore apart the Patriots' secondary in the last meeting. Has Bill Belichick made the proper adjustments? First up on the Sunday slate is the Philadelphia Eagles squaring off against the reigning world champion Tampa Bay Buccaneers. Can Tom Brady and the boys shut down Jalen Hurts and the gang once and for all? Following that game is the San Francisco 49ers against the red-hot Dallas Cowboys, where Dak Prescott is looking for his 2nd playoff. Finally, the Pittsburgh Steelers are limping their way to Arrowhead Stadium to take on the Kansas City Chiefs on Monday night. KC is a heavy favorite of -12.5 but can Big Ben stump the pros one last time?
