Well, it wasn't always pretty, but the Nebraska Cornhuskers are 1-0 after a 20-17 win over the Cincinnati Bearcats at Kansas City's Arrowhead Stadium. The Huskers overcame an early field goal deficit to take a 13-3 halftime lead, exhibiting the ability to sustain long drives (even if they stalled at the goal line). The game featured a 100-yard rusher in Emmett Johnson and two throwing touchdowns from Dylan Raiola, but it came down to an interception on Cincinnati's last offensive attempt, as Malcom Hartzog Jr. picked off a Brendan Sorsby pass. While some red-clad fans left the game after the Huskers took a big lead in the third quarter, those who stayed were treated to a little too much excitement, as Nebraska failed to cover, but succeeded where or when it mattered most. Tonight, Greg, Hoss, and Jake will take us back to Thursday night and offer their insights in the game. And maybe, just maybe, be able to convince you that things are not "doom and gloom" in Lincoln, Nebraska.
The Nebraska football season is now underway which means the return of the Sunday Side Sessions where Mike Schaefer breaks down the latest game alongside a guest. The two actually finish up with a brief conversation about Nebraska volleyball and how the program has reason to the elite of elite status in college athletics — becoming a must see attraction when on the road. Nebraska enters tonight as 6.5 point favorites, and it's been a lot of optimism coming from Husker camp this August…but there could be the perennial ‘doom' that fans face from rough starts of the past…like Northwestern, Illinois, BYU and Minnesota… Is this a different story this year for Nebraska or can they prove in Game 1 that it's NOT more of the same? We thought they arrived to a certain extent last year in the Game 2 win vs. Colorado but the season was just average after that… Our Sponsors:* Check out Hims: https://hims.com/EARLYBREAKAdvertising Inquiries: https://redcircle.com/brandsPrivacy & Opt-Out: https://redcircle.com/privacy

This episode of Monday Night Therapy opens with Minnie Hunt officially announcing Fred Sacco as her co-host. With just ten days left before Nebraska's season opener against Cincinnati at Arrowhead Stadium, the hosts describe the wait as feeling like the last week of school. Fall camp is finished, and recent press conferences from coaches and players have generated optimism. Fans debate Nebraska's defensive depth, particularly on the line and in the secondary, while praising techniques like the “club and rip” move. The hosts highlight new and emerging players such as Dasan McCullough, Jameer Khan, and Jordan Ochoa, while stressing academics as a foundation beyond football. They discuss tackling fundamentals, Big Ten officiating, and the challenges of targeting rules. There's also lighthearted banter about uniforms, wigs, and fan traditions, including black alternate jerseys and Australian punter Archie Wilson's family visiting from abroad. Looking ahead, Minnie predicts Nebraska will score in the 40s against Cincinnati, while Fred remains cautious but optimistic. The show closes with excitement for game day, reminders about upcoming prediction shows, and the familiar rallying cry: Go Big Red!

The latest Five Heart Podcast opened with technical glitches and lighthearted banter between hosts Greg and Minnie, joking about frozen screens, USB ports, and their “zero-budget” basement production. The conversation shifted to Nebraska football, just two weeks from the season opener against Cincinnati at Arrowhead Stadium, noting over 60,000 tickets sold—mostly to Husker fans. Discussion centered on defensive analyst Phil Snow's role mentoring younger coaches, stressing preparation, standards, and stability, as well as special teams coordinator Mike Ekeler's motivational style, his “one shot, one kill” philosophy, and his push for excellence across all roles. Freshman Australian punter Archie Wilson's emotional press conference and unique ambidextrous kicking skills were highlighted, along with linebacker Vincent Shavers Jr.'s enthusiasm for blitzing and team camaraderie. Single-digit jersey assignments were announced, and wide receiver Dane Key's 1,000-yard season goal was shared. Other topics included the addition of Bud Light sales at Memorial Stadium and upcoming Husker volleyball matches. The episode peaked with a comedic “Five Heart Theatre” skit parodying Greg and Minnie, which drew big laughs from viewers. The show closed with Q&A from the live audience, optimism for the season, and the reminder that “Five Heart is all the heart you need!”
The eyes of the world will soon be on Arrowhead Stadium for a World Cup quarterfinal match. But Lawrence, Kansas, is also trying to get in on the action by promoting itself as the perfect training site for a team.

The Five Heart Podcast returns with hosts Greg and Minnie welcoming fall camp and counting down three weeks to Nebraska's season opener against Cincinnati at Arrowhead Stadium. They discuss enduring Phoenix heat, fun experiments like cooking eggs on sidewalks, and then shift to Husker volleyball news. Nebraska is ranked No. 1 in the preseason AVCA poll, and former head coach John Cook has been named co-owner and GM of the Omaha Supernovas in the newly merged U.S. professional volleyball league. Football talk centers on new defensive coordinator John Butler, praised for his no-nonsense style, high standards, and commitment to playing talented transfers like Marquise Watson-Trent. Defensive line prospects Riley Van Poppel and Elijah Judy are highlighted as successors to Ty Robinson and Nash Hutmacher. The hosts discuss fall camp limitations—only nine full-pad practices—and Butler's emphasis on fundamentals and communication. The conversation turns playful as Greg challenges Minnie's tendency to compliment other Big Ten teams, sparking humorous “fan treason” debates in the live chat. They also touch on quarterback Dylan Raiola's potential, cutting turnovers, and team conditioning. As always, the Holger Maniacs in chat provide lively side commentary, making the episode a blend of football analysis, Husker pride, and good-natured banter.
In this special Stoppage Time edition of the Pitch to Pro podcast, we dive into one of the show's most personal and vivid storytelling moments: a heartfelt memory about watching MLS veteran Jack Jewsbury in action. The segment from Episode 46 with Ross Cully features reflections on how an unassuming trip to Portland turned into a deep lesson in soccer culture, as he recalls traveling with his young son to see Jewsbury captain the Timbers in front of the legendary Timbers Army. Their experience went beyond just watching a match. It was about being enveloped in the color, chants, and traditions that define Portland's fan culture, even coming away with Jewsbury's captain's armband as a priceless souvenir. The episode also explores Jewsbury's career trajectory, from college at SLU to the Kansas City Wizards and ultimately Portland, painting a vivid contrast between the early, sparse crowds at Arrowhead Stadium and the electric, sold-out atmosphere in the Pacific Northwest. It's a testament not only to the growth of MLS but to the way authentic supporter culture can transform a city's sporting identity. The conversation brims with admiration for the local traditions, like the chainsaw-cutting of the victory log, underscoring why the Timber's matchday experience is often held up as the gold standard in American soccer.Beyond nostalgia, the segment turns reflective and even strategic, highlighting why these kinds of experiences matter for investors and club-builders in emerging markets like Northwest Arkansas. Ross notes how going to matches in Kansas City with his own kids, and even his initially skeptical parents, showed the sport's multigenerational appeal and the surprise fans often feel when they realize soccer's live atmosphere can be more intimate, accessible, and engaging than bigger, more corporate American sports experiences. It's a compelling argument for how clubs can win over communities by delivering something that feels both special and inclusive. Finally, the episode closes by linking personal memories to a broader vision: the changing demographics and rising youth interest in soccer in the U.S. We discuss how younger generation's fandom, from the jerseys they wear to the games they want to attend, reveals a generational shift that smart clubs and investors need to embrace. This Stoppage Time moment isn't just a feel-good story; it's a call to see the potential for soccer to unify diverse communities, create lasting memories, and help grow the game in regions like Northwest Arkansas.

And is there really only 8 billion people on Earth? Because it sure feels like more. Jonathan tells the story of how he lost a sale by telling someone from Salem, MA that she is not, in fact, “from Boston.” Cody coins the phrase “New Orleans Chiefs,” and the guys debate whether moving the Royals across the state line actually matters. Spoiler: it doesn't if you're from Cass County. They also rip apart the new “Eat Like a Baby” diet (Jonathan: “Babies eat slow because they have no teeth!”), and break down the cultural phenomenon of the Hot Mugshot Girl, who may or may not be getting arrested for clout. That naturally leads to a conversation about attractive people getting out of speeding tickets and the complicated ethics of body cams, crime, and charisma. Also in the mix: Why men become obsessed with mowing the lawn after age 30 Whether tall grass once hid saber-toothed mole cats And why the real freaks are the 26% of people who claim they don't swear when they stub their toe As always, Cody wraps things up with some real talk about his tech shop, Akins PC Repair, and their new line of gear that might just outlast your laptop, your phone, and possibly your next several relationships.
On this episode of Talking Buffalo, Patrick Moran is joined by PK (Buffalo Sports Collective ) to discuss annoying things about the Bills AFC title game loss that still linger several weeks later in addition to reaction to Sean McDermott's presser at the NFL Combine and some Buffalo Sabres talk. It's been nearly a month since the Bills blew an opportunity to go to the Super Bowl in a three point loss at Arrowhead Stadium but Patrick remembers things from that game that are still bothering him to to this day. He talks to PK about some of them, including Joe Brady not adjusting or moving off the tush push, the lack of touches for James Cook, defensive stalwarts Greg Rousseau & Terrel Bernard being complete no shows and veteran safety Micah Hyde not getting a look at some action. Also, Sean McDermott spoke to the media on Monday at day one of the NFL Combine and the guys react to that. That plus the Green Bay Packers want to ban the tush push, talk of other potential rule changes, are the Sabres actually looking like a team ready to go on a nice run and much more. You can follow PK on Twitter @PK_BSC and check out the Buffalo Sports Collective podcast. Major props to Talking Buffalo sponsor, Sonny Red's at 1841 Abbott Road in Lackawanna, just minutes from Highmark Stadium. We consider them THE most underrated spot for wings, pizza and other great food in Western New York plus it's a great place to drink and have a great time. ♦♦♦♦♦ Follow Patrick Moran/Talking Buffalo Podcast Substack: Patrick Moran's Substack Twitter: @PatrickMoranTB Blue Sky: @PatrickMoranTB.bsky.social Instagram: @PatrickMoranTB Facebook: Talking Buffalo Podcast Learn more about your ad choices. How ironic is it that the place that can make or break Whitlock's Colorado wager is the same place where Whitlock spent the most time attending football games: Arrowhead Stadium, home of the Kansas City Chiefs. Steve Kim and Butter join the show to build the gravitas around this Big 12 matchup. The biggest game of the weekend comes in Columbus, Ohio, as the #5 Indiana Hoosiers take on the #2 Ohio State Buckeyes. Whitlock explains how he thinks the Hoosiers are a bad matchup for the Buckeyes, who are banged up on the offensive line. Who will take home the glory? Who will become the Heisman Trophy winner. A packed show focused on college football with the playoff soon approaching.
