Top-10 Takeaways - Season 2, Episode 5: The Podfather Matt Kelley (@Fantasy_Mansion) explains why defenses don't matter to quarterbacks like Tom Brady and Justin Herbert. Kadarius Toney was a strong play even if Kenny Golladay played. A.J. Dillon's use the passing game is exciting. Trading for James Robinson at a bat mitzvah was fun. Clyde Edwards-Helaire's dynasty stock will never correct. Ja'Marr Chase is officially the WR3 in dynasty. The Minnesota Vikings have now lost 2 games in a row by a total of 4 points. People say it was because of just two plays. Do you believe that? If you win on a lot more plays, these two aren't necessary. It is however for health of the Vikings' season that they grab victory against the Seattle Seahawks. This has been a team that has beaten Mike Zimmer's Vikings every time they have played. Will this game be any different? This will be the first time the Seahawks have taken on the Vikings at US Bank Stadium. The stadium, packed full of fans chanting Odin, and SKOL, will make a difference. They should have the Seahawks offensive linemen false starting. The Vikings defense which has yet to jell in two games, can now feed off the fans making noise, cheering, and down right amped up energy that flows within that glorious bowl and ETFE roof. Russell Wilson is getting older, but may be wiser and can still hurt you. He has two wide receivers in DK Metcalf and Tyler Lockett that the purple secondary will have to shut down. A hard task when Bashaud Breeland hasn't lived up to expectations. Will we see Cameron Dantzler eventually take over? The “Meaty Boys” on the defensive line should have a better day, but Wilson can still run. Can they contain him? Then can the Vikes' offense continue to cook? Kirk Cousins has been playing well and a legitimate WR3 has been found in KJ Osborn. Can the running game get going, and set up more play-action? Dalvin Cook is recovering from an ankle injury and hasn't practiced all week. We might see more of Alexander Mattison as a result. The big question though is can the Vikings get the win and beat the Seahawks? On list topics: 1) Chris Carson - who has averaged 4.6 yards per carry against us.  2) Russell Wilson and his career stats against the Vikings. 3) Conerbacks D.J. Reed and Tre Flowers. 4) What kind of performance will Justin Jefferson, Adam Thielen and KJ ‘Ozzy' Osborn need to have a day against those guys?  5) Vikings corners Bashaud Breeland, Patrick Peterson, and Mackensie Alexander expectations. If they don't play better Sunday it's going to be another frustrating day for us Viking fans because someone needs to cover DJ Metcalf and Tyler Lockett. Darren and Dave are selecting 3 topics plus 1, coming out of the first week of the Minnesota Vikings training camp.  Plus 1 Topic: The COVID protocols and how when Kellen Mond tests positive, it takes out 3 QBs including starter Kirk Cousins. Topic 1: KJ Osborn is getting some love from the coaches. After his rookie season where he was tried as a returner with disappointing results, he has focused on improving his wide receiver skills. It has been showing early and often so far in camp. Is it enough for him to capture the elusive WR3 position? The Vikes have Chad Beebe, Bisi Johnson [who left the field Friday with his knee in a brace] and new free agent Dede Westbrook. What about 5th rounder Ihmir Smith-Marsette? Will he surprise everyone? Can Osborn surprise everyone? Topic 2: What is with the Vikings under the Zimmer era always moving offensive linemen out of their drafted or natural position? We get that the more positions on the line makes a player more versatile especially when injuries start to hit, but does it do harm to a player's learning curve when they now have to try something new, learn the footwork, hand play, even the blocking assignments before they have learned to step up their play at their drafted position? Yes, you want players that can do this, but is the team actually harming its progress by doing it too early in a player's career. They draft a left tackle of the future and make him a right guard who now is at left guard, Ezra Cleveland. This season, Oli Udoh who was drafted 2019 as a tackle in the 6th round and was being groomed as a swing tackle, is now splitting first team reps with Dakota Dozier at right guard. Another tackle playing guard. A lot of college tackles become NFL guards, but it is looking like the OL might be 4 tackles and a center. That may be thinking outside of the box and work, or another disaster when the team was hoping to protect Kirk Cousins and open holes for Dalvin Cook and Alexander Mattison. …And after the disaster of having Dozier playing last season, drafting a multiple time All American right guard from Ohio State named Wyatt Davis, is Dakota still on the team much less the first team?! Again to the original question of are the Vikings doing more harm than good? Davis was seen snapping to Kellen Mond the other day. Coaches may have wondered if he could snap in an emergency or if Garret Bradbury needs yanked or gets hurt to get him on the field, or they are doing this position swap thing because that's what they do. Who knows? At least Mond got some extra snaps. Topic 3: Danielle Hunter is back from neck surgery. “It was just a tweak!” Mike Zimmer jokes about it now, but it turned out to be a herniated disk in the neck that required surgery. The Vikes have slowing integrated him into practice and he is now taking the majority of reps with the first time and looks even better than before. Will he stay healthy once the pads go on this week and hitting cracks up? Can he be as good or better than he was during the season when teams will be focusing on him? Let's hope so. Running Backs - What is Anthony Lynn going to do with the Lions backfield? - Is Tarek Cohen going to take his pass-catching role back immediately or is David Montgomery's success last season going to push him out? - How much work is A.J. Dillon to get? - Is Alexander Mattison a top-3 handcuff still after last season? Wide Receivers - With Randall Cobb looking like he is headed back to GB, who is the WR2 and WR3 there? - Justin Jefferson had one of the best rookie WR seasons ever, can he give an encore performance? - Should we buy into the hype that Amon-Ra St. Brown is getting in Detroit? - Can Darnell Mooney have an impact in year two, especially now that Anthony Miller is gone? Tight Ends - How high is too high to draft T.J. Hockenson in drafts? - What is Cole Kmet's ceiling and floor knowing Jimmy Graham still lingers? - Is Robert Tonyan a one-year wonder or can he build off 2020? - Is it finally going to be Irv Smith season? Last year, Stefon Diggs (WR3), Brandin Cooks (WR15), Diontae Johnson (WR21) and CeeDee Lamb were all drafted as WR3s (WR24). But so were T.Y, Hilton (WR43), Marquise Brown (WR34), DeVante Parker (WR41) and A.J. Green (WR68). In 2019, Allen Robinson (WR10), Jarvis Landry (WR13) and D.J. Moore (WR16) were WR3s by ADP. But so were Alshon Jeffery (WR59), Robby Anderson (WR39), Christian Kirk (WR40) and Dede Westbrook (WR48). Nailing a WR pick in this range can be huge for a fantasy team. Host Ian Hartitz breaks down the fantasy football value of DeAndre Hopkins and the rest of the Arizona Cardinals' passing game ahead of the 2021. Hopkins has been a top-five receiver by just about any metric you want to look at since entering the league. Not a stats guy? Just ask Jalen Ramsey, who dubbed Nuk as the single-toughest cover in the NFL. The rest of the Cardinals' passing game is a bit iffy, as Kliff Kingsbury apparently considers A.J. Green to be the outright No. 2 wide receiver. This complicates the potential of Christian Kirk, Rondale Moore and Andy Isabella, who each might struggle to see consistent targets if a rotation emerges. Ian finishes off the podcast with his specific rank for Hopkins and a note on which complementary receiver he prefers. DeAndre Hopkins is a beast (0:51) What to expect from AJ Green this season? (4:47) Who will be the Cardinals' WR3? (6:51) Expectations for Cardinals WRs (9:41)

1. Jets -A month and a half before the draft, everyone was saying that the Jets would take Zach Wilson with the second overall pick, and that’s exactly what they did. Personally, I would have taken either Justin Fields or Trey Lance ahead of Wilson, but you’re a better evaluator of game tape than I am and you had Zach Wilson as the best of the three “non-Trevor Lawrence” QB’s in the draft. Why was Zach Wilson the right choice for the Jets to bet their long-term future on? -With their second first-round picks the Jets moved up nine spots and surrendered both of their third-round picks to select USC G Alijah Vera-Tucker. The night before the draft, I told someone that the Jets dream haul on Day 1 would be the QB of their choice (which was obviously Zach Wilson) and Vera-Tucker…and the dream came true. Still, some people I respect absolutely RIDICULED the Jets for surrendering both of their third-rounders to get somebody at a position that’s not as highly valued. Why are those folks dead wrong? -In the second-round, the Jets arguably came away with an absolute STEAL in Ole Miss WR Elijah Moore. Most people in the league had him as the third or fourth-best WR in this draft didn’t think he would fall that far. When this pick was made, I immediately had a metaphorical orgasm imagining an 11-personnel package with Moore in the slot and Denzel Mims and Corey Davis on the boundary. Do you think Moore beats out Jamison Crowder for that WR3 role in training camp? 2. Patriots -With their first-round pick, the Patriots selected who they hope will be their QB of the future in Mac Jones. I absolutely did not buy the buzz that the 49ers would draft such a limited QB after giving up such a fortune to move up. If you listen to some folks on Draft Twitter, signal-callers of Mac Jones’ prototype are going the way of the dodo in the NFL. Why do you think the Patriots spent a super-high pick on such a QB and do you expect him to start over Cam Newton at some point this season? -On Day 2, the Patriots double-dipped on their defensive front. In the second round, they traded up to take Alabama DT Christian Barmore and they got very good value in the late third round with Ronnie Perkins out of Oklahoma. So you add Perkins to make a three-man pass rushing rotation off the edge with Matt Judon and Chase Winovich. You now add Barmore, who can push the pocket from the inside along with Deatrich Wise. Is this the scariest group of pass rushers Bill Belichick has had in quite a while? 3. Dolphins -The Dolphins kicked off their draft by reuniting Tua Tagovailoa with the most explosive weapon he had at Alabama in Jaylen Waddle. As special a talent as Waddle is, some criticized the Dolphins for trading back to 12 and then subsequently back up to 6 to take somebody they didn’t view as an equal talent to either Kyle Pitts or Ja’Marr Chase. How big, in your view, was the drop-off in talent from Pitts and Chase to Waddle…or was there any drop-off at all? -With their second first-round pick, the Dolphins made Jaelan Phillips the first edge rusher off the board. Many people around the league reportedly considered Phillips to not only be the best pass rusher in this class, but the best defensive player in this class. They added that he probably would’ve been a top-10 pick if it wasn’t for his alarming injury history. Do you share that view?

Jameis Winston enters just as New Orleans' schedule softens: ATL, DEN, ATL over the next three weeks. PJ Walker steps into the perfect fantasy point-scoring situation supported by one of the best wide receiver trios in the sport. Donald Parham is not on the seasonal league radar, but his snap share and red zone usage is incrementally rising. Salvon Ahmed dominated the Dolphins' backfield snaps and posted 90 yards and a touchdown on 22 touches. Nyheim Hines is looking like a satellite back-plus with big upside moving forward. Heading into a revenge game against the Jets, Kalen Ballage is worth streaming, but don't pay an iron price. JD McKissic is thriving with Alex Smith The Seattle backfield music stopped on Alex Collins this week. Penny's recent "home stretch" social media post offers hope that he is near returning. Devontae Booker is a top handcuff back with standalone value and worth a bid bump to stash this week. Don't chase last week's touchdowns, especially given Rex Burkhead's 6 carries to Damien Harris' 22. It just makes sense that New York would turn the backfield over to Lamical Perine coming out of the bye. DeAndre Washington checks primary back-boxes and would likely get a shot at dominating the running back touches in Miami at some point this season. Jakobi Meyers is dominating the target share and air yards share in New England. Michael Pittman has ascended to go-to receiver status. David Moore is the one true handcuff wide receiver, but when crafting a bidding strategy, know that your leaguemates don't know that. K.J. Hamler has more big play ability than Jeudy, but Drew Lock has been too erratic to delivery consistent fantasy production. Little Jakeem Grant delivered 14-plus fantasy points in Week 10 with Casey Hayward shadowing Devante Parker. Josh Reynolds is a plus-athlete and offers high-end WR3 production most weeks. Richie James surprisingly usurped Kendrick Bourne for the No. 2 WR role in San Francisco on Sunday. Allen Lazard experienced some soreness heading into last weekend and was held out of the game, but he should be activate this week. Tim Patrick delivered another double-digit fantasy performance on Sunday, but a deeper look suggests Jeudy and Hamler have usurped him on the target pecking order. Denzel Mims posted an impressive 100% route participation rate and 139 air yards against a competent secondary in Week 11. Stash him before a possible shootout vs. LAC. Jalen Guyton ran more routes and absorbed more targets than Mike Williams in Week 10. Marvin Hall was back at it, scoring another long touchdown in Week 10.
