We discuss his favorite memories and feelings from the Super Bowl having been to six of them, the famous play in Super Bowl XXVII where he caused Leon Lett to fumble a potential touchdown, his unlikely road to the NFL after being out of football for 3 years, going to the NFL Combine in 1989 where he set the record for the 40 yard dash with Deion Sanders with sneakers that were falling apart, his thoughts on the Bills this past season, comparing Josh Allen's play to Jim Kelly and Brett Favre, how culture is one of the most important pieces to a locker room, his thoughts on his son Chad Beebe, who plays in the NFL, his head coaching position at Aurora University his faith and much more! Join us for a conversation on your Minnesota Vikings. Some of your favorite Climbing The Pocket personalities gather together with you to talk about how the Minnesota Vikings have made Modesto get to the final 53 man roster. There was a trade for TE Chris Herdon from the New York Jets. QB Jake Browning was waived but after being told he'll still be the QB2 from the practice squad if he makes it through waivers. RB Kene Nwangwu made the 53 but will go on IR for a minimum of 3 weeks. Migraine inducing Dra Samia and Dakota Dozier have been released. Samia with an injury settlement, and hoped from the Vikings that they can get Dozier back on the practice squad [he knows the playbook]. Chad Beebe put on IR and is out for the season. And in a surprise move, cut Everson Griffen. Many more moves were made and the guys will get joined by you to talk about it. Where they the right ones? Come join the conversation with the guys as they discuss the Vikings, these topics, and more. SKOL! On tonight's show: - The final 53 - Chris Herdon trade - Chad Beebe IR and surgery - Who's the real QB2? - Why cut Everson Griffen and keep Jaylen Holmes? Let's discuss: 1. The initial 53 man roster. Most surprising cut? "Sad to see him go" cut? 2. The Chris Herndon trade. Give the trade a Grade and say why. 3. Almost 1,000 players got fired today. Who is out there for the Vikings to snag? 4. Fill in the blank. This is the ____th best roster in the NFL. Fan with us!!! Over the weekend, some news broke. Let's talk about Harrison Smith's contract details, as he signed a monster 4-year, $64 million deal to all but guarantee that he retires a Viking. Irv Smith Jr. got some less good news, where a meniscus injury will require surgery. We don't know the extent of his injury yet, but the Vikings will already start thinking about how to adapt to life without their breakout tight end. Finally, we'll talk about impending roster cuts: Cohl Cabral, Ito Smith and Zeandae Johnson have already been cut. Who's next? Dakota Dozier? Chad Beebe? Jake Browning? Darren and Dave are selecting 3 topics plus 1, coming out of the first week of the Minnesota Vikings training camp. Plus 1 Topic: The COVID protocols and how when Kellen Mond tests positive, it takes out 3 QBs including starter Kirk Cousins. Topic 1: KJ Osborn is getting some love from the coaches. After his rookie season where he was tried as a returner with disappointing results, he has focused on improving his wide receiver skills. It has been showing early and often so far in camp. Is it enough for him to capture the elusive WR3 position? The Vikes have Chad Beebe, Bisi Johnson [who left the field Friday with his knee in a brace] and new free agent Dede Westbrook. What about 5th rounder Ihmir Smith-Marsette? Will he surprise everyone? Can Osborn surprise everyone? Topic 2: What is with the Vikings under the Zimmer era always moving offensive linemen out of their drafted or natural position? We get that the more positions on the line makes a player more versatile especially when injuries start to hit, but does it do harm to a player's learning curve when they now have to try something new, learn the footwork, hand play, even the blocking assignments before they have learned to step up their play at their drafted position? Yes, you want players that can do this, but is the team actually harming its progress by doing it too early in a player's career. They draft a left tackle of the future and make him a right guard who now is at left guard, Ezra Cleveland. This season, Oli Udoh who was drafted 2019 as a tackle in the 6th round and was being groomed as a swing tackle, is now splitting first team reps with Dakota Dozier at right guard. Another tackle playing guard. A lot of college tackles become NFL guards, but it is looking like the OL might be 4 tackles and a center. That may be thinking outside of the box and work, or another disaster when the team was hoping to protect Kirk Cousins and open holes for Dalvin Cook and Alexander Mattison. …And after the disaster of having Dozier playing last season, drafting a multiple time All American right guard from Ohio State named Wyatt Davis, is Dakota still on the team much less the first team?! Again to the original question of are the Vikings doing more harm than good? Davis was seen snapping to Kellen Mond the other day. Coaches may have wondered if he could snap in an emergency or if Garret Bradbury needs yanked or gets hurt to get him on the field, or they are doing this position swap thing because that's what they do. Who knows? At least Mond got some extra snaps. Topic 3: Danielle Hunter is back from neck surgery. “It was just a tweak!” Mike Zimmer jokes about it now, but it turned out to be a herniated disk in the neck that required surgery. The Vikes have slowing integrated him into practice and he is now taking the majority of reps with the first time and looks even better than before. Will he stay healthy once the pads go on this week and hitting cracks up? Can he be as good or better than he was during the season when teams will be focusing on him? Let's hope so. Sam Ekstrom and Tom Schreier discuss the Vikings' dramatic 28-27 win over Carolina: -Do you like zany football? -Chad Beebe and Bisi Johnson emerge -Kirk Cousins proves he can carry a team to victory -The Vikings have yet to play a good 60-minute game -The defensive line needs a playmaker to emerge -Playoff scenarios
In a game that was filled with ups and downs for both sides, the much maligned Chad Beebe had a moment that would have crushed many a reserve player. When Beebe fumbled the punt with only 2:18 remaining in the game, it looked like all was lost and I was calling for Beebe's head. When given opportunities on what would be the game winning drive, Beebe came threw with three catches and the game tying touchdown. facebook.com/purplemafiashow @purplemafiashow paladinolive@yahoo.com

There's five count 'em FIVE big games in the NFL this weekend, and all four NFC North teams will be going at it. The Green Bay Packers play the Philadelphia Eagles in a game we hope ends in a tie. The Dallas Cowboys play the New Orleans Saints so we can cry about Teddy Bridgewater on Sunday Night. The Detroit Lions host the Kansas City Chiefs and reigning MVP Patrick Mahomes. The New England Patriots travel to upstate New York to Play the 3-0 Buffalo Bills. Our Minnesota Vikings play the Chicago Bears in a huge divisional clash. This week presents a huge opportunity for our Vikes to move up in the NFC standings. And they're healthy for it, after getting back Pat Elflein and Mike Hughes Week 3. Anthony Barr and Mackensie Alexander could be back too. Josh Kline was the only Viking to miss Wednesday practice due his concussion. Chad Beebe got hurt, but the Vikings brought back Marcus Sherels or Laquon Treadwell to replace him. Maybe Jordan Matthews would have been better? On offense, Irv Smith Jr, Kirk Cousins and Brian O'Neill are all streaking. We've gotta love how O'Neill is developing, even though he's got a tough match-up coming up against Khalil Mack. We're not sure yet about Garrett Bradbury, and we're hoping Akiem Hicks doesn't play. On defense, the more Sack Daddy the better. Throw in Danielle Hunter too. They've got to lead the way to victory against Charles Leno. And you know what? Can we please get some more Eric Wilson? Let him chase down Tarik Cohen and David Montgomery. Minnesota has a huge opportunity to strike back in the NFC North. 3-1 or 2-2 will look very different early on. All they need is their best players to STEP UP. Learn more about your ad choices. Vikings versus the Raiders… Good morning Horners! GMG is back with another “In The Raw!” immediate post-game reaction show. Dave is done with all his moves and ready to talk football with Ted and Drew after that wonderful and expected victory at US Bank Stadium yesterday. Your Minnesota Vikings played a very efficient game soundly defeating the Oakland Raiders 34-14 to now go 2-1. Sackles, sackles, sackles,… We love us some sackles. Sackles for the uninitiated is the when a Vikings player gets a sack [and Dave has been consuming adult beverages]. The team amassed 4 yesterday with Everson Griffen and Danielle Hunter each getting one, along with Eric Wilson [in for and injured Anthony Barr] amassing 2. There were plenty of more pressures on Derek Carr which is the goal on this Sunday, but the sackles are the cherry on top, and we love cherries. Does Dalvin Cook look absolutely remarkable or what?! Cooker has to be one of the best, if not the best running backs in the league. Coach Rick Dennison has coordinated on heck of a running game and Cook is the main beneficiary, but he isn’t the only one as we have seen with Alexander Mattison and Mike Boone [in garbage time] reaping the benefits of gaudy yards per carry numbers. We should all find out next week in Chicago versus the Bears defense if this is for real. We all sure hope so. The O-line has been good at run blocking and making it happen, but next Sunday should be their toughest test yet. The defense started out on fire! The dragon may of not due to the No Fun League’s moratorium on pyrotechnics, but the D sure did. We love seeing an opening 3 and out. Harrison Smith got yet another interception and turnovers like that definitely give the team an advantage. Passing was efficient with Kirk Cousins making most of the throws he should have this week. It was great to see Irv Smith Jr get big chunk yard receptions. Even Kyle Rudolph got involved. The WR3, Chad Beebe, who affectionately is called “Faberge Egg” by Ted Glover was almost non existent and went out with an injury. Hmm… I wonder if Ted nailed his nickname? Overall, the passing was good. That Cousins to Adam Thielen pass was perfect for the score. One question though, should we as fans be concerned about the lack of throws to Stefon Diggs? You tell us. Good morning Horners! Game day is here for the Vikings vs Falcons and the guys at Good Morning Gjallarhorn has you covered in only the way GMG can. Which of course is through humor, opinions and analysis… And as Ted would say, not always good, but always fun. We start the your dive into the game with reports of Stefon Diggs having missed a practice and list with a hamstring injury. Hopefully it is nothing and he’s over it [there is word that he will play]. We would hate to see something like drag on. If either Diggsy or Adam Thielen are out for any extended periods of time, the opposing defenses will blanket the healthy WR and probably to the detriment of the offense. That lead to the question of who will be the WR3? Will Olabisi Johnson get the job, Chad Beebe, or newcomer Josh Doctson? If Bisi grabs it, can he hold on? We’ll find out plenty during the game. Speaking of injuries, Dalvin Cook looks to be 100% healthy. Hopefully he stays that way especially with the emphasis by Mike Zimmer that he wants to run the ball more. If the offensive lines can open up some running room for him, it will be a good day and should help take the pressure off of Kirk Cousins. The Falcons are hoping for the same for Devante Freeman. If the vaunted Zimmer defense has problems against the run, it will be advantageous for Matt Ryan and Julio Jones to open things up when they are not worried about a run defense. That leads into the pass rush having to make up the difference. Hopefully [and it is game 1, so hope is high], the combination and rotation employed by Andre Patterson does the trick. This will be our first real opportunity to compare this year’s Shamar Stephen to last season’s Sheldon Richardson. The best quote of the show was a comment by Drew after Ted thought that we should win. He said, “the old pessimistic bastard is coming around for once.” Ted replied, “Hit me up Sunday night.” Come on Ted. let the hope be with you! We did some game predictions including Ted with Jeanna Thomas over at the Falcoholic. Guesses with good outcomes from Alexander Mattison, Kyle Rudolph and Danielle Hunter. So what are your predictions? We want to hear in the comments. Then enjoy Dave as he summoned his inner John Madden. It was fun. Go Vikings! Let’s win the the game! SKOL! Good morning Horners! Every once in a while, we open the show to listener questions, and today on GMG we do just that. We open the show talking about Minnesota Vikings running back Khari Blasingame. "Who?" You will have to listen to find out. 1. The greatest playoff game in Vikings history. Was it the Minneapolis Miracle, or was it in 1987 against the San Francisco 49ers? 2. Michael asks us who will emerge as the offensive team leader and can it be Garrett Bradbury? 3. Daily Norseman’s own, Just_Rob asks will Dru Samia compete for the starting job and who will be the surprise veteran cut? 4. What if there is a surprise trade? The guys here dream of Trent Williams who is very disappointed with the Redskins. 5. We return with Just_Rob asking if Kyle Sloter is undiscovered GOAT and is the Sloter-mania real? 6. The great Manbear Pigg asks if Chad Beebe or Brandon Lylstra be able to take the WR3 slot? A great discussion ensues including Jordan Taylor, Dillon Mitchell, and previous WR3s Jarius Wright and Aldrich Robinson. 7. Ryno asks who's going to step up and be the 3T defensive tackle? Shamar Stephen comes to the top of the list, but also discussed was Jaleel Johnson, Jalyn Holmes, and even Hercules Matta’afa. 8. The kind and wonderful Mary asks us which 3 rookies are we most excited to watch. Ted, Drew and Dave give their answers. We end the show with a couple of Ted stories about how he was recruited to play college ball, and they include a great Don Glover quote. This and many other things in the show will have you laughing loudly, so listen at work and drive your fellow employees nuts, or listen wherever you feel free to bust up laughing. Good morning Horners! Let's light this candle for today's show.Ted, Drew, and Dave are back again talking Minnesota Vikings football and their own special and unique way. The show promises to be full of laughs, some analysis, and of a couple stories. We are your Daily Norseman morning show. There is a wide range of topics discussed from the soon to be camp battle where young Second Lieutenant Austin Cutting will battle his way to take the long snapping jobfrom Kevin McDermott. Drew may not care so much, but we know Dave does and we suspect you do too. Briefly, Kyle Rudolph's extension provided both money and mentorship to the young Irv Smith Jr. and Ted talked about rubbing oil all over something when thinking about Chad Beebe. Then the gang got into discussions about positions on the team that seem to be thin in depth. Are the positions of the secondary, wide receivers, running backs, quarterbacks actually thin? We talked about solid depth in many of the groups, to include the offensive line for the first time in a long time. We quickly rattled through the roster to see who might make those last half-dozen spots on the final 53. Why, because Drew stated that the top 46 or 47 players are already penciled in place, and all the rookies not drafted in the first few rounds, the UDFAs, and even some of the non-starting veterans will be competing for those final spots on the roster. Then it was off to one of Drew's requested segments, the predictions. Questions like will Laquon Treadwell make the squad? Will he beat the over and under of 2.5 touchdowns that Las Vegas is showing him at? What will be the team's overall win record? Could it be that Ted, in his initial thought of 8-5-3, be actually feasible? The records led in the discussions about the rest of the division. Will the Chicago Bears be transitioning? How about the Green Bay Packers being extremely bad? And are the Detroit Lions the same team as always? It's very much looking like the Vikings success will depend on quarterback Kirk Cousins and how he plays, but will his yardage total, and those box office stats be key? Selecting an over and under of 4500 yards, what would you prefer? Who's going to lead the team in sacks? Does Dalvin Cook go over a 1,000 yards on the season? Who has the most receiving yards? Who leads the team in interceptions not named Kirk Cousins? These are just some of the questions we try to answer, and we're looking forward to yours in the comments below. There was one last question if the Vikings play as we want them to and go all the way to glory never seen before by us, what would their rally song be? Dave, Drew, and Ted discussed it but couldn't come up with a firm answer. We need your help on this one. Like, subscribe, and ring that damn bell! Then shout SKOL! As always, enjoy the listen! Good Morning Gjallarhorn Episode 030 – In The Raw: Celebrating Sackles! Good morning Horners! The Detroit Lions came to town where they had beaten the Minnesota Vikings twice at US Bank Stadium. Well, that did not happen on Sunday where the Vikings defense put on a clinic and set a new Vikings record sacking Matthew Stafford 10 times. Ted, Drew and I celebrated wildly. We loved the results. Danielle Hunter now leads the NFL with 11.5 sacks but is not just a pass rushing specialist. He’s the whole deal playing the run game just as well. We saw that Everson Griffen, Sheldon Richardson, Linval Joseph, Tom Johnson, and Stephen Weatherly all combining with Hunter to put on a show. Andre Patterson has coached these young men to a level rarely seen and definitely deserved a game ball himself. Adam Thielen extended his touchdown streak. Woot! Chad Beebe debuted and caught everything thrown his way. Then there was the return of the explosiveness of Dalvin Cook, who was clocked at 22.7 mph on his 70-yard run. He and LaTavius Murray look similar to Robert Smith and Leroy Hoard. Expect more of that in the future. Next stop will be for a Sunday night prime time game at the Chicago Bears to battle for the lead in the division. We look forward to the bye week, where GMG has special shows planned, but for right now it is time to celebrate a very good win and the invention of the “sackle”.
