About Spencer Tenney Spencer Tenney serves as President & CEO of Tenney Group, where he oversees the firm's day-to-day effectiveness and long-term vision. Spencer is a graduate of the University of Texas at Austin and holds the designation of Certified Merger & Acquisition Advisor through AM&AA. Prior to Tenney Group, Spencer worked as a Director at Merritt Hawkins, a healthcare recruiting firm in Dallas. He also owned a music publishing company. Spencer and his wife, Lauren, reside outside of Nashville in Franklin, Tennessee and have been married for 13 years. He has three amazing kids – 9,6, & 3. About Tenney Group Tenney Group are mergers and acquisitions advisors who work with business owners in the 3PL, trucking, and bus industry. These business owners are hardworking individuals or teams who have created and lead companies that are the backbone of America. Luckily, Tenney Group has developed an industry specialized process that enables business owners to navigate these pitfalls and maximize their ability to get a deal done. Ultimately, this allows owners to impact their family, employees, and community in profound ways while also giving them peace of mind that they made the best decision. The Tenney Group's unique expertise helps transportation business owners build and protect business value, grow through acquisitions, and optimize the sale of their businesses. The Tenney Group was established in 1973 and has completed over 200 transportation deals. Key Takeaways: The M&A Playbook for Logistics Leaders In “The M&A Playbook for Logistics Leaders”, Joe Lynch and Spencer Tenney, President & CEO of Tenney Group, discuss the current state of mergers and acquisitions in the logistics sector, offering key insights on how business leaders can navigate a more selective market, build value, and secure successful deals. M&A Activity Has Evolved, Not Ended: While the pace of M&A activity has slowed in recent quarters, the market remains active, albeit more selective. The prolonged freight recession and compressed margins have made buyers more cautious, leading to fewer, but more strategic, deals. Freight-Tech M&A Remains a Hotspot: Despite the broader slowdown in logistics M&A, the freight technology sector is seeing robust activity. Acquirers are focused on securing companies with innovative solutions in areas like artificial intelligence, automation, and real-time visibility to gain a competitive edge and build more resilient supply chains. Differentiation is the Ultimate Defense: In a challenging market, sellers must differentiate themselves beyond price. Building a "competitive moat" through specialized expertise—like a unique technology platform or a highly specific service offering—is essential for attracting serious buyers and securing a premium valuation. The "Flight to Quality" is Intensifying: Buyers are increasingly discerning. They are prioritizing companies with strong fundamentals, including clean financials, a proven track record, and a clear path to profitability. This trend means that well-managed, high-quality companies are still finding strong demand, while others may struggle to find a buyer. Strategic Growth Through Acquisition: The current market environment is pushing companies to seek growth through strategic acquisitions rather than organic expansion alone. Companies are looking to acquire new capabilities, expand into new markets, or integrate new technologies to navigate the challenging economic landscape and position themselves for the next growth cycle. The Importance of Owner Independence: A business that relies too heavily on its owner for daily operations and key relationships is a significant risk for a buyer. To maximize value and attract the best offers, logistics leaders must build a business that can run smoothly without them. Culture and Integration are Crucial for a Successful Deal: Beyond the financial numbers, the success of an M&A deal in the logistics sector often hinges on the smooth integration of the two companies. A thoughtful plan for merging company cultures and operational processes is essential to realize the intended synergies and ensure long-term success. No. 3 LSU heads into their SEC opener vs. Florida with lots on their minds, such as last year's loss in Gainesville. But one can easily assume there's even greater focus for the Gators, who were embarrassed last week by South Florida. What plays a larger role? And is Florida playing for Coach Billy Napier's job? All questions that will be asked and answered with host Jim Derry on Wednesday's Dattitude Podcast (Ep. 413) presented by Evangeline Securities. Jim also gets a lot of help from Gabe Henderson, as the duo also talks a little Tulane and makes Thursday Night Football predictions. As for the New Orleans Saints, the line has shifted with news that not only will San Francisco 49ers star tight end George Kittle miss Sunday's game, but that quarterback Brock Purdy might also be out, which would mean Mac Jones starts in his place. What would that do for the Saints chances, and what does Spencer Rattler need to change for Week 2?

Send us a textIn this episode of Writers With Wrinkles, hosts Beth McMullen and Lisa Schmid sit down with literary agent Sheyla Knigge of Highline Literary Collective to talk about the art of building strong author-agent relationships. Sheyla shares her journey into publishing, her approach to championing authors, and the key questions every writer should ask before signing with an agent.Guest Bio: Sheyla Knigge is a literary agent at Highline Literary Collective with nearly two years of experience representing authors and selling books. A lifelong reader who entered agenting during the pandemic, she quickly proved her eye for marketable stories—discovering Where the Dark Stems Still by A.B. Poranek, which became a six-week New York Times bestseller. She now represents 25 clients across genres and is known for her transparency, passion for storytelling, and dedication to uplifting diverse voices.Key Discussion Points:Origin story: how Sheyla transitioned from project management to slush-pile reader to full-time agent.Defining strong partnerships: the importance of open communication, trust, and transparency in the agent-author relationship.Red flags in queries: why writing outside one's lived experience without sensitivity can be problematic, and how Sheyla evaluates submissions.Crucial questions for writers: why asking about an agent's support system and mentorship is essential before signing. When to walk away: how gut checks, excitement about revisions, and true alignment matter more than a “big name.”Wish list: Sheyla's dream project—“murderous cheerleaders,” a mashup of Bring It On meets I Know What You Did Last Summer. Conclusion: Sheyla Knigge reminds writers that publishing is about partnership, not desperation. Choosing the right agent means prioritizing communication, shared vision, and mutual growth over prestige. Her advice encourages authors to seek relationships that set their creative souls on fire, because the right story—and the right fit—will always find its way to readers.Mentioned Links:Highline Literary CollectiveSheyla Knigge on Instagram Support the show Visit the WebsiteWriters with Wrinkles Link Tree for socials and more!

7/8. Professor Emily Wilson's translation of The Iliad powerfully conveys the vivid and often gory reality of Bronze Age combat. The poem meticulously details how men died, showing the brutality of warfare. A crucial aspect of Homeric battle culture, as highlighted by Wilson, is the understanding that once a warrior is dead, their body and armor must be protected and treated honorably. The desecration of corpses, like Achilles dragging Hector's body, is a profound act of humiliation, intended to further punish the enemy beyond death. 1599 ARMS FOR ACHILLES

In the final part of the 2025 Market Shift Update, David Sidoni breaks down why affordability is finally improving — and why old affordability formulas don't tell the full story. Discover how falling rates and shifting rent dynamics create opportunities for first-time buyers. For five years, first-time buyers have faced brutal affordability math. Home prices skyrocketed from $315,000 in 2020 to $438,000 in 2025, far outpacing normal appreciation. But the tide is finally turning. In this episode, David Sidoni explains how flattening home prices and falling mortgage rates are reshaping the affordability index in buyers' favor.More importantly, David reveals the fatal flaw in traditional affordability formulas: they ignore rent. Rent is your biggest monthly output — and it's rising no matter what. When you factor in rent replacement, buying often makes more financial sense than continuing to rent. David shows how to use this perspective to assess your readiness and why waiting for “perfect” affordability is a losing strategy.Packed with myth-busting insights, this episode equips buyers with the clarity and tactics needed to move forward in today's shifting market.“Buying a home is not a want purchase — it's a necessity purchase. You're paying for shelter either way.”HighlightsWhy affordability has been so brutal since 2020How today's interest rate drop makes homes more affordable, even at higher pricesThe flawed formula economists use to measure affordabilityWhy factoring in rent changes the entire equationTactical steps first-time buyers can use in today's market shiftReferenced Episodes382 - Part 1: Rates383 - Part 2: Sales, Inventory & Affordability279 - New Build vs Resale Houses for First Time Homebuyers350 - From ‘Years Away' to Homeowner: Your Last Lease Ever355 - Real Answers Pt 4 – Should I Rent or Buy in 2025?168 - Get Off Your Ass!Websitewww.getoffyourass.orgConnect with me to find a trusted realtor in your area or to answer your burning questions!Subscribe to our YouTube Channel @HowToBuyaHomeInstagram @HowtoBuyAHomePodcastTik Tok @HowToBuyAHomeVisit our Resource Center to "Ask David" AND get your FREE Home Buying Starter Kit!David Sidoni, the "How to Buy a Home Guy," is a seasoned real estate professional and consumer advocate with two decades of experience helping first-time homebuyers navigate the real estate market. Anxiety and women have gone hand in hand for many years. And the prevalence has never been higher. Women and anxiety are often used in the same sentence. But most don't recognize the root of anxiety, nor the influence it has on day-to-day life, especially as mothers and women in leadership roles. What is anxiety? Anxiety is an abnormal sense of apprehension and fear that is often marked by physical signs and symptoms. When someone is anxious, they doubt that they will be able to cope with a situation or person. Doubt often leads to overreacting and emotional chaos. Overreacting disrupts stability within the family and influences the emotional state of others. Frequently, anxiety creates a vicious cycle. Prevalence of anxiety Forty-two point five million Americans claim to suffer from anxiety. The prevalence is higher in women than in men. The statistics are staggering.
