Guy Jenkin is a multi Emmy and Bafta winning writer. Along with Andy Hamilton, he co-wrote the sitcoms 'Drop the Dead Donkey' and 'Outnumbered'. He also worked on the films 'What We Did On Our Holiday', and 'The Sleeping Dictionary'.His new novel is called 'Murder Most Foul', a witty and fast-paced Tudor detective novel that plays with fact and fiction. In the middle of a deadly plague outbreak in 1593, William Shakespeare is implicated in the murder of his friend and rival, Christopher Marlowe. Teaming up with Marlowe's sister and his former flame Ann, they embark on a quest to clear his name, uncovering a web of treachery and corruption that inspires Shakespeare's future masterpieces. You can hear how much he enjoyed the research, so much so that he had to drag himself away to finally write the story. He reveals why it's normally the smallest, hardest to find details, that bring the story to life. We discuss why it's taken him so long to write a novel, after a long career in screenwriting, and how he learned to actually do it.We talk about 'Outnumbered', and why it was much more scripted than many believed, and what it taught him about writing novels. You can support the show at -patreon.com/writersroutineko-fi.com/writersroutineGet a copy of the book - uk.bookshop.org/shop/writersroutine@writerspodwritersroutine.com Hosted on Acast. In 2010, the Association for Information Systems formed a special interest group () to nurture an international community of academics that study the role of digital technologies in fostering environmentally, economically and socially sustainable development. Fifteen years later, we sit down with , the current SIGGreen president, to reflect on the progress we have made. What do we know about how digital technologies help greening our planet? What efforts in empirical, theoretical, and design work is still needed? Is our role to understand the role of digital technologies or do we need to push and enact change ourselves? We conclude that environmental questions and problems are now firmly on the radar screen of our discipline but more work needs to be done for information systems academics to transform the way we think about and use digital technologies. You would think this could not get any worse. But it did. Tina shares how she was retraumatised by professionals who put her under the microscope and took her beloved baby boy away from her after Shane Jenkin gouged out her eyes in a premeditated and sadistic attack in April 2011. You will not believe what you are hearing. Tina has been failed again by a Parole Board who agreed to the recommendation to move Jenkin to an open prison, ready for release. Laura and Tina discuss Shane Jenkin's violent history, his time in prison, the 2022 Parole Board hearing where it was determined Jenkin was too dangerous to release compared to the 2024 Parole Board Hearing where it was recommended Jenkin was ‘safe' to be transferred to an open prison, ready for release. Jenkin gave Tina a life sentence. He held her hostage for 12 hours denying her medical care and when doctors finally assessed Tina's injuries, they told her that the 18-stone abuser had attacked her with such force that they could see his nail marks in her sockets.
