Childhood abuse comes in many forms, but sexual abuse is perhaps the most heinous, and it's sadly very common. One out of ten children experience sexual abuse and some numbers suggest it may be as high as one in six for young boys. Yet there is very little written about this, particularly when it comes to men. Stephen Mills has written a detailed and moving story of his experiences. The #MeToo movement has helped draw attention to sexual abuse, but it is only scratching the surface. Research shows that 1 in 4 women will be sexually abused or assaulted in their lifetime. As a result, they will be up to 4 times more likely to develop depression, suicidal thoughts, PTSD, drug and alcohol abuse, eating disorders, relationship difficulties and physical and/or mental health problems.
