Michele was widowed in her thirties when her husband was hit while riding his bicycle. She discovered that: “We can't forget the lessons that grief and trauma teach us. And if we determine that the only way to consider ourselves healed is to return to the same self we were before trauma entered our lives, we are bound to fail. Instead, I believe that our work is to integrate every life experience, the wonderful and the terrible, into our lives and to view our healing through a lens that encourages and welcomes personal evolution--even if that evolution is fueled by trauma.” Michele's healing process is helpful for anyone who has experienced the transition of a loved one, and any trauma such as physical injury, life-altering illness, violence, or abuse. Please join us Thursday to learn how we can integrate all our life experiences to become more resilient, strong, courageous, and transformed.

Dr. Jeste says wise people are smart, warmhearted, compassionate, empathetic, sophisticated, open minded, good listeners, reflective, unselfish, problem focused, trusted advisors, able to see from many perspectives, and willing to act on their beliefs. They are happy, aware of their gifts and blind spots, and make others feel heard. People who are wise instinctively know how to handle personal problems that overwhelm most people. They are calm and resolute amidst chaos and uncertainty. Others want to be more like them, and now they can be. As Dr. Jeste says, The modern rise in suicides, opioid abuse, loneliness, and internet addiction is damaging people's health and destroying the social fabric. His research shows us how we can nurture and grow every facet of wisdom to face these challenges and others more effectively. Please join us Thursday to learn how to identify, understand, nurture, and promote the behaviors of wisdom that are already within all of us.

We've heard a lot about the benefits of trees for our physical and emotional health and well-being. Did you know that trees are also healers and magical spiritual beings? Some trees are as old as 9000 years, and they communicate with each other through their roots. Here is what Dr. Kac Young says about the book she'll be talking about on my show: “I am so excited about my new book Magical Trees: A Guidebook for Finding the Magic in Everyday Trees using Crystals, Spells, Essential Oils and Rituals. Now is the time for this book to reach as many people as we can. The message in this book is personal and global. Trees need to be loved and sustained because they are so important to the body and soul of humans and to the longevity of our planet. In this book I outline everything we need to know about 50 trees and how we can use them for healing, magic, rituals, and sustenance. I hope you will join me in celebrating the wonder of trees, their priceless gifts and the knowledge we can share about how very special they truly are. Without trees humans cannot survive.” Please join us next Thursday to learn about how to communicate with trees, unlock their magic, and help save them from extinction.

Mass shootings, Covid, climate change, and all the stressors in the world and in our personal and work lives has caused most of us to be in a constant state of anxiety which often explodes into anger toward the people closest to us. A gesture, a tone of voice, or even a gentle touch can put us back into an earlier time in our life when we felt we weren't good enough, we weren't lovable, or we were in physical danger. It takes us out of the present moment and throws us into the past. Our survival brain takes over and triggers the fight, flight, or freeze response. Our logical mind is no longer in charge, and we act in ways that damage relationships important to us. This does not have to be the case. We can learn to respond, not react, and go from triggered to tranquil. Please join us Thursday to learn how to recognize our own triggers and those of people we care about, and techniques to heal ourselves and relationship misunderstandings.

Peace in the world begins with peace within each of us. As we change, everyone and everything around us changes. Quantum Physics teaches us that everything vibrates at a specific frequency. As we release fear, anxiety, shame, blame, and other negative emotions and thoughts, our vibration increases. Negative thoughts and emotions have a low frequency whereas positive thoughts and emotions have a high frequency. The more we stay in the high vibrations of love, gratitude, kindness, respect, harmony, balance, and peace, the higher our frequency is. The positive energy spreads to everyone in our lives, even the people we pass on the street. The result is that change in the world happens by each of us becoming more positive and thereby raising our frequency. Please join us Thursday to learn techniques to help you become the peace you want to see in the world.

Shame, blame, guilt, and judgment are all habits of the mind. We can choose to stay in that uncomfortable way of thinking and living or we can choose to accept life and stop letting it hurt us. When I realized that all my experiences have helped form who I am, I began to experience life differently. Since I don't know which parts of my life I could remove and still be me, I chose to acknowledge that all of it has helped me become my true self. Recognizing the gifts of learning and growth in each experience has brought me peace and gratitude. We may not be able to control what happens to us, but we can control how we think about it which changes how we feel long term. Please join us Thursday to learn how we can free our minds of pain and negativity, and feel the beauty, love, and peace that is available to all of us.

“Sometimes things happen that reveal an apparent pattern, plan, and meaning to the workings of the world. When this revelation occurs, it's as if the Universe winks at us to say, ‘now you're in on the secret!' The ‘secret' is the realization that an infinite, unitary intelligence pervades everything--what author Stephen G Post calls infinite Mind…and that love is a kind of metaphysical glue that holds things together and provides a delightful fizz to the whole show.” writes Dr. Larry Dossey, MD. My guest helps us understand the importance of synchronicity in our lives and how to recognize it; the importance of love, kindness, and generosity; and the hidden mystery of human connectedness. He prescribes volunteering for health, happiness, resilience, and longevity based on research showing volunteering lowers levels of inflammation, cholesterol, and the body mass index, and helps those with mental health issues such as depression and schizophrenia. Please join us Thursday to explore Stephen Post's deep understanding of spirituality and how love drives out fear and heals us and the world.

June is National PTSD Awareness Month, which is why I scheduled Dr. Laurie to be with us this month. As Dan Rather says in the foreword to her new book: “When it comes to teaching how to not just survive life's hardest blows but to eventually thrive, nothing beats a teacher who has learned through personal experience. Once a seasoned journalist but now a practicing psychotherapist, Dr. Laurie Nadel has written a compelling book that guides us through coping with life's most troubling times.” Dr. Laurie lost her home during Hurricane Sandy. What she gained were true friendships and the gifts of humility, patience, empathy, forgiveness, and growth. She followed her intuition and then discovered that scientific research supported her. As we discuss in every show, there are always silver linings to even the most challenging situations. Please join us Thursday to learn how to heal from PTSD and embrace the gifts that give us hope healing, and strength.

Marsha is fearless in speaking the truth about challenges that are unique to women in leadership positions. They include misogyny from men, other women, and even from within ourselves. Aggression is not considered acceptable when it comes from women leaders; strong boundaries are often harder to set because of expectations; and conflict is something some women avoid to keep the peace rather than using it to create effective solutions. Women also have the strengths of empathy and compassion, which are currently the most sought-after qualities for leaders today. As women grow in our leadership and relationship skills and our support of each other, our authentic leadership style emerges. Marsha gives us the gift of a deep dive into what makes women unique and how we can look closely at our own strengths and challenges to become the best leaders and people we can be. Please join us Thursday to learn how women can enhance our strengths and grow stronger and wiser in the areas that were neglected in our education at home and in school.

“It is our birthright: To acknowledge a higher power, no matter what you call it. To trust that every person was born perfect and is deeply loved by their Creator. To understand that being yourself is your life-purpose, no matter what. To know you were born at this time because the planet needs who you are--as you are.” My guest asserts that these spiritual truths are essential for good mental health. This is our shared foundation, no matter what religion we practice. It is the underpinning of a healthy, happy, and high functioning human being, society, and world. It is what we need for peace of mind, an understanding of unity, of connection, and of oneness, and for peace on earth. The challenge of our time is to restore our own soul and the soul of the world. It may be easier than we think to replace bad habits with good ones; accept others for who they are; develop positive relationships with food, money, and family; set strong boundaries; and stop repeating the patterns that prevent us from achieving our goals. Please join us Thursday to learn how we can conquer our karmic relationships, heal spiritual trauma, open our hearts, and restore our souls.

People want happiness above all else, including money. Studies consistently show the same results whether you're talking about work life or personal life, and one always effects the other. A happy leader creates happy employees, which leads to increased productivity, happy customers, less stress, and an increase in the bottom line. There's a science to happiness, and everything my guest discusses is validated with research. She will share with us her 8-step methodology to become a happy leader, like prioritizing relationships over to-do lists. Following these steps helps us become calm, motivated, confident, and inspirational. Added benefits are a healthy immune system, improved personal relationships, and good physical and psychological health. Please join us Thursday to learn how to have fun, become a positive force for change and better the lives of everyone who works for you and with you while growing the business, your career, and your income.

What steals our joy? Guilt, feelings of not deserving, beliefs that life is hard, “shoulds,” ”musts,” “could haves,” worry, fear, stress, and the list continues. 90% of our self-talk is negative, and we spend 1 to 8 hours a day worrying when only 8% of what we worry about happens. My guest believes that we were born to be happy. False beliefs, expectations, and allowing too much clutter into our lives interferes with our joy. Change begins with discovering what is most important to us. Sound too simple to be possible? Maybe it can be that simple. Regardless of our roles, gender, socio-economic status, or lifestyle, we can all choose to become happy. Please join us Thursday to learn practical techniques for being happier right now.

“For years I did not know what ‘it' was. I felt anxiety as depression, panic attacks, procrastination, headaches, exhaustion and sometimes I felt physically ill. I have made it a passion to find out how I could change channels in my brain to manage anxiety and live to my fullest potential, live my dreams, and thrive” writes my guest. I understand what she is saying. I didn't diagnose my own anxiety until my mid 70's and that was after 21 years of therapy with two different counselors. When we don't know what's wrong, it's hard to find the correct treatment. Taking aspirin for a headache stops the pain temporarily, but it doesn't stop the problem that caused the headache. The American Psychological Association predicted a mental health crisis this year because of the trauma we have all been subjected to, including the pandemic, war, mass shootings, climate change, natural disasters, social injustice, and the economy. Anxiety disorders, depression, and suicides are all increasing, but there is help available. Please join us Thursday to learn simple techniques to help you identify and manage your anxiety and become a self-empowered, happy anxiety warrior.

Our attitudes toward aging dramatically influence the length and quality of our lives. In the United States, people with positive attitudes toward aging live 7 and a half years longer, and those with positive beliefs about memory retention have 30% less memory loss. In China, people with positive attitudes toward aging have the same sharp memories, hearing, and physical functioning as their grandchildren. Aging does not have to be about loss of our physical capabilities. It can be a time of personal growth, creativity, and spiritual development. We can heal our painful emotions, negative memories, thoughts, and beliefs, forgive ourselves and others, accept and love ourselves, and be grateful for the wisdom we have gained from a life well lived. We can do the inner work with our soul and become authentically who we are. Please join us Thursday to learn techniques to let go of past roles, expand our identity, and become fully real, transparent, and free to embrace a fulfilling life as the wise Elders.

Wellness practices are meant for everyone and can be easy to implement, regardless of age, gender, ethnicity, income, or social status. “The lack of representation within the wellness industry is palpable, from practitioners and advocates to brands that seemingly cater to only one type of audience — wealthy, white Westerners,” writes Ciares. “Wellness is not for the privileged few. Wellness is a state of living that applies to all living creatures — humans, animals, and plants. And the most popular wellness practices have been practiced for millennia by people all over the world.” Ciares' own healing journey from debilitating physical conditions to vibrant health have fueled her desire to share specific wellness practices, like alternative medicine, affordable plant-based whole foods, lazy-proof movement, nature, and music, to help people of all backgrounds. She encourages us to trust ourselves to determine which practices are best for us. Please join us Thursday to discover what could lead you to a healthier, stronger, happier version of yourself.

In my 40's, I had the thought that we spend the first half of our lives going as far away from ourselves as possible, and if we're lucky, we spend the next half of our lives coming back to ourselves. I think this is what the “mid-life crisis” is all about. We discover that we've been misled into believing that what really matters is the outward signs of success: fame, fortune, a fancy car and house, and the socially acceptable spouse and children. This was my guest's life until his business and marriage failed followed by estrangement from his children, bitterness, depression, anger, and loneliness. This led him on a journey into spiritual teachings and unlearning all the beliefs that had led him into a false life. Without the right foundation, when the trappings of success are gone, there is nothing to hold us together. Adam's search led him to The 13 Universal Wisdom Teachings and developing a process to shed false beliefs and values that separate us from our Divine Genius. Please join us Thursday to learn how to reconnect with our authentic creative, loving, and abundant life force.

The whisper of “the still small voice within” is hard to hear over the loud voices in our head and all around us with directives on what we should and shouldn't do. Learning to listen to the voice of the Divine within is the most important thing we will ever do. Through our intuition, we hear the voice of our higher self, our guides, and the Divine. That's where true wisdom resides. It's the voice that knows what's best for us. It's the voice that wants us to thrive, to live in joy, to be who we truly are, to do what will fulfill us the most, and to feel unconditionally loved always. Please join us Thursday to learn how to listen to our Divine inner guidance, trust it, and follow it.

Guides, Angels, Archangels, Spiritual Masters, and the Divine Source of Love are always with us. It is up to us to acknowledge their presence, communicate with them, and accept their help. Life becomes easier when we know we are not alone. With their assistance, we can discover our life purpose, recognize our deepest wounds, and learn how to heal ourselves. My guest understands that as we heal ourselves, we heal the world. During a pandemic and a war that threatens to spread beyond the Ukrainian borders, we need this message. When we heal, we release negative energy and refill with love, and that healing love goes outward effecting everyone and everything. We can spread fear and worry, or we can spread love and hope. Please join us Thursday to learn about our core wounds, unconscious programming, and how to become the bright light that we truly are.
Attitude is everything. When someone asks you how old you are, do you cringe or do you proudly say, “I'm 69!”? Jackie chooses to be grateful for every day. She says: “I don't give away any days.” In this time of Covid, war in the Ukraine, and the threat of nuclear war hanging over our heads, it's easy to give away our days to worry and fear. That response to adversity puts negative energy into our body and the Universe when what we need is hope, love, and light to raise our frequency and that of the Ukraine. Jackie's choice to embrace life at every age and in every circumstance is inspiring and uplifting, which is exactly what we all need right now. Please join us Thursday to discover the secret to aging with grace while laughing and raising your own vibration.

Energy Vampires drain a person's energy, like a Vampire drains their blood. If we have an energy vampire in our life who consistently eats up our time, energy, and often money, we wind up exhausted and sick. We wonder why they seem to have an endless amount of energy when we are so tired all the time. Without our realizing it, people can invade our boundaries and steal our energy for themselves, sometimes even dipping into our life force. Empaths are particularly vulnerable to this kind of attack because we sense what people are thinking and feeling, often taking on the pain of others at our own expense. We tend to put the needs or others above our own, often feeling like we're carrying the weight of the world on our shoulders. There are ways we can stay balanced and keep our energy safe. My guest has the skills we need to manage energy vampires and narcissists, increase our vitality, and fully embrace our unique gifts. Please join us Thursday to learn how to identify energy vampires who come into our lives as people or spirits, practical ways to protect our time, energy, and money, and techniques to heal our energy so we can be happy, healthy, and self-empowered.

I remember wondering why the committee ignored my suggestion yet got excited when a man made the same suggestion. When I told a male colleague, he said it must have been the way I said it. Blaming me as opposed to societal biases toward women is another example of the challenges women face. Even in the U.S. Supreme Court, female justices are interrupted four times more often than their male counterparts and 96% of the time they are interrupted by men. The U.S. constitutional amendment giving women equal legal rights took 100 years to be approved by Congress. Not only is it shocking that it took until 2022 for this to happen, but it was almost completely ignored in the media, as if it weren't important at all. These attitudes are engrained early by teachers who expect more from boys than girls and give boys more encouragement. The result is that the potential of half of the population is underused. This hurts all of us. Please join us Thursday to learn how we can address and counteract systemic sexism in ways that benefit us all: men and women alike.

A client expressed surprise that a few months ago she could barely get off the couch due to severe pain, and now she is pain free while taking care of her 2 grandsons for 2 weeks in a house with stairs. My guest understands what my client is experiencing. Dr. Muehsam says: “Absolute health is simply peace of mind. It's our essential nature…It's the state of mind that we need to be in to heal from whatever ails us health-wise, and to shift circumstances and situations in our lives. Here's why: our thoughts and feelings affect our health and well-being instantaneously. Every thought and feeling is either creating a state of ease or dis-ease. A calm, peaceful mind creates a calm and peaceful body. A disturbed mind creates stress in the body… All physical symptoms, all diseases, have an emotional component…if we don't heal what's going on emotionally, we'll never heal those physical symptoms, those physical diseases. We might find ways to mitigate physical symptoms and diseases by treating and suppressing symptoms. This is something that Western medicine does very well, and something that is often very necessary, if we've got acute or emergent issues going on. But if we don't heal emotionally, mitigating symptoms ends up pushing the symptoms and disease elsewhere. All healing is ultimately emotional healing. It's healing from the inside out.” Please join us Thursday to learn how to attain Absolute Health with the correct 5 tools and the 4 primary medicines which, instead of prescriptions, are: food, lifestyle, relationships and community, and purpose.

Most of us have been taught to trust facts over intuition. We are afraid of being wrong or making a mistake that could decrease our income or upset our boss. So, we make choices that feel safe and are based on numbers, logic, and group think. Our fear prevents us from using and trusting our intuition. We can, however, learn to use our intuition and leverage it for success and increased happiness. We all have intuition, and we can all learn to trust it and use it to create the personal and professional life we want. Melanie has exercises and information to help us succeed in the workplace and in life. We can learn to interpret signs and synchronicities to assist us in decision making, to trust our intuition, banish doubt, and reach our goals. There are even ways to validate the accuracy of our intuition. Please join us Thursday to learn how to use intuition to succeed at work and in life.

Homosexuality was a crime in the USA until 2003 and was considered a mental illness by the American Psychiatric Association between 1952 and 1973. The United Kingdom didn't completely decriminalize homosexuality until 2013, and in some countries, homosexuality is still punishable by death. As outrageous as these facts are, we are still remiss in our social acceptance of members of the LGBTQ+ community and in accepting them within all religious communities. This is part of a larger problem that we have worldwide of intolerance of those who don't fit limiting gender and sexual roles. There was a wonderful book and record that was popular when my children were young called, Free to Be You and Me. It helped us think beyond current social expectations and see that each of us is unique with the right to fully manifest who we truly are without being afraid of the judgment of others. It wasn't until Gus was on my show a few years ago, that he helped me realize that I could be aggressive when the situation required it. By then, I was in my 70's and just learning that a woman was allowed to be aggressive. It was up to me to decide when I needed to be aggressive and not up to society to dictate what a woman could and couldn't do. I bought Free to Be You and Me for my grandchildren because we still need to learn the lessons taught in that book. Please join us Thursday when Dr. Gus Kaufman will talk with us about how we can create a world where everyone is free to be their unique self.
