Boredom As An Important Marker For ActionParadoxically, without self-control you can't be free. – Russell A BarkleyMeasure Brain Function To Improve Outcomes – Boredom Matters  Jeff Copper is an ADHD Coach and national thought leader who likes to use obstacles as teaching tools. He likes to measure. Here he measures, yes, boredom. At first, boredom looks like it's obvious, but Jeff takes this interesting boredom discussion to a different level. Jeff is, quite simply, a man for all seasons, as he reflects, reports, and recommends on the remarkable changes in “ADHD” – Executive Function – mind science. His international reputation for asking important questions, for providing an interesting forum to discuss the vagaries of ADD/ADHD diagnosis and treatment, is nothing less than exemplary – especially in these halcyon years of ADHD medication confusion, public distrust, and pervasive medical quandary. It's dicey out there, and Jeff sets out to correct the guessing game with details that work. Photo by https://unsplash.com/photos/I8kXlSLooXk?utm_source=unsplash&utm_medium=referral&utm_content=creditCopyText (Maxim Smith) on https://unsplash.com/collections/664899/boring?utm_source=unsplash&utm_medium=referral&utm_content=creditCopyText (Unsplash) Straight Talk: Thinking About Boredom & FunctionDon't forget, if the targets and treatments remain imprecise who can blame the public for a pervasive lack of confidence in the ADHD treatment system? The good news, label guesswork is out [hyperactive vs inattentive??], and detailed, functional measurement, both brain and biomedical, is now more decidedly, irrevocably in. No, I'm not diving into the deep waters of controversy over functional vs traditional medicine. The function I'm addressing here at CBJ is at once complex and simple: brain function and biomedical function from a comprehensive medical perspective are increasingly translatable, understandable, and applicable down at the street level. PerspectiveMy perspective remains the same: Comprehensive perceptions are inclusive, not polarized in either of the warring medical camps [traditional or functional] and are in the best interest of the most advanced, most precise, most predictable patient care. Let's get past binary thinking – it's boring. The good thing about science is that it's true whether or not you believe in it. ~ Neil deGrasse TysonJeff's Outstanding ContributionIn just a few short years Jeff has interviewed almost everyone in the ADHD community from thought leaders such as Hallowell and Barkley to the living experiences of coaches and clients. He connects researchers with Main Street experiences, always chasing data that works in the real world. We're on the same Path. Ed Note: On My Good Times With JeffAt first, Jeff and I simply bumped into each other at various meetings, from http://www.chadd.org/ (CHADD) to the https://www.adhdcoaches.org/ (National ADHD Coaches Organization). I still remember very well how much we both appreciated http://www.russellbarkley.org/ (Dr. Russell Barkley's) remarks years ago when Russ added Brain Executive Function insights to the previous appearance-based diagnostic criteria still used as the standard of care today. We all know that ‘Hyperactive,' ‘Inattentive,' and ‘Combined,' simply don't cover the complexity of executive function challenges. Brain function measures mark the essential reality of Executive Function Challenges beyond appearances. Precise target recognition matters for both providers and patients. Dr. Russell Barkley Weighs InConsider this: Barkley's insights offer more precise answers. If both patient and medical teams truly understand and recognize the targets, the dialogue in global offices will improve markedly – simply because the patient can say, “Yes you hit it,” or, “Not yet.” [Functional diagnostic targets explained here in 8 detailed Videos in my Executive Function...

Flora provides therapy in Williamsburg, VA, for all ages with a wide range of individual mental health issues, family, work, and related issues. Along with a full range of psychological issues, Dr. Flora utilizes a well-publicized but seldom used a single sentence to quickly assess & identify DID clients. In addition, he has developed an abbreviated technique for working with clients suffering from Dissociative Identity Disorder by avoiding the use of abreaction to bring the personas together, without forcing them to relive the negative effects of the event that caused their separation in the first place. As an original Defeat Autism Now! (DAN!) referral physician, he has years of experience in researching and implementing advanced biomedical interventions for individuals with autism. His extensive network of educational websites, books and webinars provide parents of individuals on the autism spectrum, as well as physicians and other healthcare providers treating autism, access to an abundance of important information regarding biomedical intervention measurements and treatment strategies. To have direct interaction with Dr. Woeller right away you can subscribe to his biomedical autism website at http://www.corepsych.com/autism (AutismRecoverySystem.com). ADHD Kids: Challenges With The Law  While the CDC estimates that ADHD occurs in 10% of the general population, its prevalence in our jails has been estimated at 50% or higher. Additionally, in about 65% of cases, ADHD is present with a co-occurring mental health condition. Studies also show that inmates with related mental health conditions stay in the system between 5 and 8 times longer than inmates without mental health impairments. This is further compounded by the fact that the risk of substance abuse disorder doubles when ADHD is present and further triples when ADHD is present with Conduct Disorder. ~ Robert TudiscoRobert Tudisco – A Lawyer Experienced With ADHD Kids Here Robert takes on many imperatives that surround ADHD children with legal issues – and gives us hard, straight answers. He convinced the staff at psychiatric hospitals to discharge him three times during his childhood. In addition to being hospitalized as a child, he was expelled from 3 schools, attempted suicide, and was regularly medicated in efforts to reduce his emotional instability and behavioral outbursts. By the fifth grade, Mike was put in a special education class. Aside from getting more individualized attention from the teacher, he learned that pencil erasers make a great drumming sound when tapped on a desk. He had no idea that real drumming would become his career as well as his path to recovery for his many troubling experiences with repeated mental health stigma. Bullies Create Brain DamageCourage is fire, and bullying is smoke. ~ Benjamin Desraeli Dr. Jennifer Fraser earned a Ph.D. in Comparative Literature and is a researcher, educator, and published author. Her latest book, Teaching Bullies, marks the first moment when she became both shocked and fascinated by neuroscience and the evolution of utilitarian mind-discoveries. Ever since reading six years ago about the harm done to brains by bullying – as documented and recorded on MRI and fMRI – she has made it her mission to inform teachers, coaches and parents about the neurological scars that bullying or emotional abuse does to brains. The data is in folks, – it's time to take more decisive action. And here's where things start to become fascinating. Congruency MattersCommunication and alignment of your brains are vital for congruence, success, and happiness in life. Imagine how incredibly life-enhancing it is when your many minds are working harmoniously together to produce generative wisdom in your life!      Educational Testing, Social Justice, Money & LabelsWe cannot solve our problems with the same thinking we used when we created them.~ Albert Einstein Dr. Zak Stein - Dr. Stein's educational testing interests focus on the interface between social justice and education, including specializations in developmental psychology and ethics. He studied philosophy and religion at Hampshire College, and then educational neuroscience, human development, and his doctorate in philosophy of education at Harvard University. While a student at Harvard, he co-founded what would become http://lectica.org (Lectica, Inc.), a non-profit dedicated to the research-based, justice-oriented reform of large-scale standardized educational testing in K-12, higher education, and business. He writes on a broad range of topics including the philosophy of learning, educational technology, and the fundamental theory of education translated to applications for everyday life. Neuroscientifically validated details also matter for educational testing. Current testing requirements, including IQ, don't adequately cover mind complexity. Listen and comment. Consider: should the term for current standards of educational testing results and their subsequent applications with students more accurately be characterized by the term social injustice? Educational Testing EvolvesTesting doesn't adequately cover mind complexity. Imprecise results create myriads of challenges for everyone concerned - from students to teachers to school administrators and parents. Currently, Dr. Stein serves as Chair of the Education Program at http://meridianuniversity.edu (Meridian University), and as Academic Director of the activist think-tank at the http://centerforintegralwisdom.org (Center for Integral Wisdom). Bottom line: our system of education-labels in the context of new measurements, new data and evolved mind considerations is woefully inadequate and potentially damaging to the lives of those mislabeled. This discussion is critical, indeed absolutely essential, dare I say mandatory, for anyone involved with any educational process. Feel free to weigh in below with a comment. Connect With Dr. Stein To Encourage Systemic Evolution"I am available for speaking engagements on a variety of topics, including Mind, Brain, and Education, Developmental Psychology, Human Development, Philosophy of Education, Social Justice, Educational Psychopharmacology, Educational Testing, and Integral Meta-Theory. Dr. Kaplitt and his neurosurgical team, along with Dr. Levi Chazen from Radiology and Dr. Harini Sarva from Neurology, were able to watch as the patient's tremor diminished visibly during the procedure. Current treatment options for ET - Essential Tremor include medication as well as Deep-Brain Stimulation (DBS), which involves implanting a battery-operated neurotransmitter under the collarbone connected to a wire that runs up the length of the neck into the scalp, where it is guided to the brain through a small hole in the skull. The tip of this wire sends the electrical impulses generated by the neurotransmitter into the precise spot in the brain that regulates the activity of the key circuits in essential tremor. Biomedical Evidence - Hedaya on The Biology of Mind and BodyThe important thing is not to stop questioning. Curiosity has its own reason for existing. — Albert EinsteinEveryday we increasingly confirm that inflammation directly effects brain function. Over time it can create permanent change. - Robert Hedaya Treatment Failure Without Biomedical Evidence Treatment failure, especially in the face of proper training and the best information, means you're/we're missing something. We're missing mind complexity. It's not the patient's fault. It's not the doctor's fault. Looking to blame someone? Blame our historical dependency on behavioral appearances. The inadequacy of reductionistic labels denies the complex reality of mind, body and biomedical functional complexity. The system is set to run on labels and medications that target those dancing clouds of surface appearances. We're living in akimbo-land, with a frustrating global problem of misperception in the context of current scientific details. It's not that the current psychiatric system is bad or broken - it's excellent - and yet the labels system remains merely inadequate in the context of fresh data from modern neuroscience. Repeated imprecision builds disdain, distrust, and stigma. ...misunderstandings and neglect create more confusion in this world than trickery and malice. At any rate, the last two are certainly much less frequent.~ Goethe - 1774Don't assume bad intentions over neglect and misunderstanding.~ Hanlon's Razor - 1990Dr. Hedaya unearthed this flash of insight many years ago, back in 1985, and it continues to drive him, as he's still searching today. In this episode, Dr. Hedaya shares his personal story and tells us how he turned his medical, psychiatric curiosity in a different direction. Hedaya emphatically encourages more https://www.corebrainjournal.com/article/critical-thinking-required/ (critical thinking )- with more systematic reviews of dynamic change, time, and context. More careful biomedical reviews do inevitably change the rules of the game. Listen while we discuss just how he became one of the leading national authorities in that interesting space, the polarity, between traditional psychiatry and functional medicine. Also, listen carefully to how often we both bring up inflammation as an important marker on the crossroads between these two often adversarial diagnostic and treatment strategies. Ed Note: Dr. Hedaya continues in active practice, and, also, remains firmly involved in mind research. In this interview, he discusses the relevance of pain and inflammation in his own life, and the discoveries he's made on his clinical journey into the challenging territories of dementia, including TBI and Alzheimer's. Notice how we segue into http://www.corepsych.com/2012/10/adhd-insights-igg-denial-video/ (IgG measurements), and the challenges of other mind inflammations found downstream from food sensitivities. Note also that this is a re-publication from CoreBrain Journal/005 very soon after we started this Journal three years ago, and it is not outdated. Dr. Hedaya is an internationally prominent functional medicine psychiatrist who teaches at Georgetown, well worth a listen. Inflammation matters. His Message In A Sentence: Every treatment failure, every refractory, chronic mind imbalance deserves specific biomedical measurements for contributory factors, including inflammatory processes. Publication Microbiome - Jan. 23, 2017 Author(s) Dae-Wook Kang, James B. Adams, Ann C. Gregory, Thomas Borody, Lauren Chittick5,15, Alessio Fasano, Alexander Khoruts, Elizabeth Geis, Juan Maldonado, Sharon McDonough-Means, Elena L. Pollard, Simon Roux, Michael J. Sadowsky, Karen Schwarzberg Lipson, Matthew B. Sullivan, J. Gregory Caporaso and Rosa Krajmalnik-Brown BackgroundAutism spectrum disorders (ASD) are complex neurobiological disorders that impair social interactions and communication and lead to restricted, repetitive, and stereotyped patterns of behavior, interests, and activities. The causes of these disorders remain poorly understood, but gut microbiota, the 1013 bacteria in the human intestines, have been implicated because children with ASD often suffer gastrointestinal (GI) problems that correlate with ASD severity. Several previous studies have reported abnormal gut bacteria in children with ASD. The gut microbiome-ASD connection has been tested in a mouse model of ASD, where the microbiome was mechanistically linked to abnormal metabolites and behavior. Similarly, a study of children with ASD found that oral non-absorbable antibiotic treatment improved GI and ASD symptoms, albeit temporarily. Here, a small open-label clinical trial evaluated the impact of Microbiota Transfer Therapy (MTT) on gut microbiota composition and GI and ASD symptoms of 18 ASD-diagnosed children. ResultsMTT involved a 2-week antibiotic treatment, a bowel cleanse, and then an extended fecal microbiota transplant (FMT) using a high initial dose followed by daily and lower maintenance doses for 7–8 weeks. The Gastrointestinal Symptom Rating Scale revealed an approximately 80% reduction of GI symptoms at the end of treatment, including significant improvements in symptoms of constipation, diarrhea, indigestion, and abdominal pain. ConclusionsThis exploratory, extended-duration treatment protocol thus appears to be a promising approach to alter the gut microbiome and virome and improve GI and behavioral symptoms of ASD. Improvements in GI symptoms, ASD symptoms, and the microbiome all persisted for at least 8 weeks after treatment ended, suggesting a long-term impact. Similarly, clinical assessments showed that behavioral ASD symptoms improved significantly and remained improved 8 weeks after treatment ended. Bacterial and phagedeep sequencing analyses revealed successful partial engraftment of donor microbiota and beneficial changes in the gut environment. Specifically, overall bacterial diversity and the abundance of Bifidobacterium, Prevotella, and Desulfovibrio among other taxa...

Leadership & Responsibility - Team Management EvolvesDr. Christopher Avery joins us at CBJ to discuss Leadership and the Responsibility Process. When something goes wrong, large or small (for example, lost keys or a lost retirement account), The Responsibility Process kicks in. The mind works hard to Lay Blame as a reason for the problem. ----------------- [caption id="attachment_9540" align="alignright" width="225"]https://www.corebrainjournal.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/02/dr-charles-parker-1099555-unsplash-1.jpg () Markers Matter[/caption] Ed Note: This is a repeat of earlier publication that received considerable attention. I'm repeating this as I am about to diminish publications to once a week [Thursdays at 4 AM EST] for a sabbatical leave as I reconsider my time and efforts to continue our mission here to make a difference. I will republish episodes until I can figure out a way to pay for my team, my publishing costs and my time. Our next CBJ episode will publish next Thursday, next week, at the appointed 4 AM Eastern Standard Time, USA. CBJ is doing well in 111 countries, still on New and Noteworthy at iTunes, but without support is becoming admittedly less tenable. Thanks! ---------------- Avery on Working Beyond Blame If you accept blame as a sufficient reason, then you will act on that blame. If you don't accept it, then your mind offers you an excuse (Justify) - and so on. Thus, taking personal responsibility is a step-wise process of refusing to act on a series of irresponsible thoughts that your mind offers up. Note WellResponsibility/irresponsibility does not delineate a character trait/flaw. It's a mental process operating identically in everyone. The process can be observed, learned, taught, studied, developed, modeled, and practiced. Any willing individual, team, or organization can practice responsibility at ever higher levels. The Responsibility Process is most useful when self-applied. It backfires when used to Lay Blame on others. PANS, PANDAS, and Autoimmune EncephalitisUrgent Childhood and Adult Psychiatric Details So Often OverlookedSo many kids these days have rages, OCD, tics, aggressive behavior, prolonged tantrums and anxiety all living downstream from PANS, PANDAS and Autoimmune Encephalitis. If these profound and puzzling symptoms prevail you must look into PANS (Pediatric Acute-onset Neuropsychiatric Syndrome), PANDAS (Pediatric Autoimmune Neuropsychiatric Disorders Associated with Strep) and Autoimmune Encephalitis - especially if your child exhibited sudden behavioral changes or a markedly unpredictable developmental regression. https://www.corebrainjournal.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/01/Brain-immunity.jpg () Listen up; Maria spells out your options. Autism, ADHD, Executive Function, and Sensory Processing DisorderEven kids with autism, ADHD and Sensory Processing Disorder should be evaluated for this condition as some practitioners believe that nearly 2/3 of kids with neurodevelopmental disorders also suffer from PANS. As you listeners know, and those of you who have followed our updates over the years, immunity is a relentless and ubiquitous focus in my offices for treatment failure for many years. The good news: if you identify it correctly and take the necessary steps treatment failure will often, quite surprisingly, turn around. Note WellPANS is an umbrella term that includes diagnoses such as Lyme disease, PANDAS, PITANDS (Pediatric Infection-Triggered Autoimmune Neuropsychiatric Disorders), and Autoimmune Encephalitis -- all of which describe a condition marked by concerning psychiatric and physical symptoms that often, but now always, appear suddenly. Children in the U.S. now suffer from PANS at a very concerning rate - it's far more prevalent than many assume. What causes PANS. Why PANS is so commonly seen in children with autism. How PANS is treated. How to get to the root cause(s) of PANS. What parents of children with PANS have done to bring their children back to good health. What leading PANS experts have to say about the cause and treatment of PANS. Nootropic Treatments Address Specific PTSD SymptomsI was diagnosed with Adult ADD several years ago. Up to then I had no idea why I had a problem with focus all my adult life. Medication helped at first, but then didn't work as well, and I wondered what I could do. ~ David TomenPTSD Nootropics Address Treatment Failure"I had to find out if there was a way to deal with brain fog and ADHD naturally. Ritalin was able to help me focus. But was not helping in the memory and thinking department. Years of searching websites, reading stacks of books, and combing through the forums. And I was able little by little to get my brain working again. Better than ever before. With the right combination of supplements and lifestyle changes, I've been able to reduce my use of prescription stimulants. My business turned around, my relationship is better than the day we got married, and my brain is firing on all cylinders. And I continue to tweak and refine every area of my brain, cognition, and my own PTSD." My Thinking Problem Wasn't Dementia"A couple of years after the ADD diagnosis I ended up in the ER. And was told I was hypothyroid. A full-page, two-column list of symptoms including brain fog. Not only was I struggling to focus, but my memory was also failing. Episodes of not remembering dates and appointments, a failing business, and a crumbling marriage. I saw psychologists, doctors, endocrinologists, neuroscience specialists, and therapists. Two unrelated doctors tested me for dementia and early-onset Alzheimer's disease. One of the tests is the “Mini-Mental State Exam”. A “health professional” asks a series of questions designed to test a range of everyday mental skills. The maximum MMSE score is 30 points. A score of 20 to 24 suggests mild dementia, 13 to 20 suggests moderate dementia, and less than 12 indicates severe dementia. I got 30 points on every test. I didn't have dementia but suffered from cognitive disarray." Photo: alexander-andrews-421601-unsplash

Combat Stress - Misunderstood & MistreatedOf the 2.4 million U.S. troops, who have been deployed to Iraq and Afghanistan, 30% return home with post-traumatic stress due to combat related stress and more than 320,000 suffer from traumatic brain injury (TBI). Many more are misdiagnosed or are not diagnosed at all. Troops who are exposed to PTSD in the form of high levels of stress and anxiety during combat are more likely to withdraw, engage in substance abuse, show signs of depression, or even commit suicide after returning home. Twenty-two veterans commit suicide every day. Simply drugging our troops is not the solution.~ Bart BillingsCombat Stress Complexity - Detailed By Dr. Bart BillingsIn this interesting interview, Dr. Billings tells explicit details about his profoundly informed and moving experience regarding the evaluation and treatment of combat stress, as based upon years of dealing with the complexity of wounded warriors, returning vets. From direct frontline experience as a clinical psychologist in charge of significant PTSD and TBI programs, both on active duty and following as a civilian to the present day, Dr. Billings is one of the singular most knowledgeable medical professionals in the country - and he's opinionated. He has repeatedly witnessed the added traumatic effects of imprecise medical care for vets - it's a serious problem nationally.  His mission: Combat Stress includes a variety of issues, a complexity overlooked with many identifiable contributions, each with specific treatment protocols. In this interview and his book, Invisible Scars, he clearly outlines necessary treatment improvements for returning vets - indeed stress-arrest at any level.  Ed Note: It's a new year, and this topic is as urgent for our nation as it was when first published two years ago. Dr. Billings is one of the worlds leading authorities on Combats Stress and recovery - and as you will see if this is your first connection with him - quite opinionated about necessary next steps. Buckle Up From his beginnings with a Jesuit College philosophy of serving others, he entered a career helping others as a Clinical Psychologist with 34 years of active military service. In 1975 he became aware of the poor services provided for veterans in mental health, and for the past 41 years, he dedicated his life's work to help these deserving vets. Dr. Billings' best-selling book, http://geni.us/combat (Invisible Scars, How To Treat Combat Stress And PTSD Without Medication), is linked here and below. ASD Mastery: Learning Resources for Developmental DelayAngie Angie Mahoney, M.Ed., is currently a special education case manager at Rogers Park Middle School in Danbury, Connecticut. Angie has worked on ASD mastery with students of all ages in a variety of settings for the past thirteen years. Her career includes tenure at a private school where she worked with over seventy-five middle school and high school-aged students on a weekly basis, running an inclusion-based elementary program for students with autism, as well as co-teaching core academic classes as part of a team comprised of fellow middle school educators. Angie's Evolution"When I began teaching in 2001, I had just graduated college with a degree in Intensive Needs Special Education from Lesley University. I was truly excited to begin my teaching career and thrilled to accept my first teaching job as a Pre Vocational Teacher at Cotting School, a private, nonprofit school in Lexington, Massachusetts. I knew that Cotting School offered a unique opportunity for growth and knowledge, all the more so given the exceptional group of students and staff with whom I would work. I could not wait to begin. I led a program through which I would see ten different groups of students, ranging from ten to twenty-one years of age, two times a week, for class periods of forty-five minutes each. My role, regarding their objectives for ASD mastery, was to teach them prevocational skills in the classroom setting. When the first month of school began, I quickly realized that in order for each and every one of my students to succeed vocationally, I needed to problem solve and plan a strong program to meet the many needs of the students. The program in place at the Cotting School offered a small range of prevocational activities with little organization of materials, few modifications, and limited tracking of student progress. I struggled to connect the existing prevocational activities (such as sorting colored rubber bands) to real-world job environments and sought to make each activity meaningful versus the "routine" of mere task completion." Photo by https://unsplash.com/photos/RFId0_7kep4?utm_source=unsplash&utm_medium=referral&utm_content=creditCopyText (N.) on https://unsplash.com/search/photos/point-map?utm_source=unsplash&utm_medium=referral&utm_content=creditCopyText (Unsplash) She Made Changes"I found myself wondering, how I could make each and every student feel both challenged and successful while learning crucial skills for their future? I began to look around my new classroom and truly explore the possibilities. I spied an array of materials one would find in an office setting: pencils, staplers, paper, paperclips, etc. That got me really thinking not just about the current age of my students but also more towards the time they would graduate. What jobs would they apply for? Where would they hope to volunteer? I literally pictured the stores and job opportunities in the surrounding town, and it all started to connect. As I wrote out my list of places of employment (e.g., offices, grocery stores, florists, farms, retail stores), I started to see a pattern that then transformed into the I Can Work! modules: Clerical, Retail, Food Service, and Grocery. Creating a range of modules allowed me to focus on each vocational area one at a time and determine which jobs fell under each category." Her Mission for ASD Mastery"I wanted to know for certain that every student, with his or her individual challenges, would have access to each area of specialization and all that it had to offer for prevocational learning. I began breaking each unit into time frames and allowing each activity to connect and build on one another, as a slow progression geared specifically for each student, I also began looking beyond the physical jobs and deeply into the communications, routines, and the aspects of working in a job environment. I knew that introducing and...

Biofilm and Candida Create Treatment FailureDr. Rachel Fresco, L. Ac. Ph. D. is the founder and chief formulator for http://www.biocidin.com (Bio-Botanical Research). In 1989 Dr. Fresco began looking for ways to improve GI health and address systemic infections. One of the results of this research is her development of http://corenutrients.corepsych.com/product/biocidin-capsules/ (Biocidin®), a broad spectrum botanical formulation. This formula is recognized by many major diagnostic labs, clinicians, and authors as one of the most useful products for addressing difficult and resistant http://corepsych.com/biofilm (biofilm-relevant) clinical presentations, such as http://corepsych.com/candida (candida). Women know candida as that vaginal yeast infection, and knowledgeable practitioners know it as the overlooked fungus that creates brain fog, depression, exhaustion, and "ADHD." Dr. Fresco presents lectures internationally at medical conferences and shares her research on the topics of biofilms, the link between GI dysbiosis and systemic inflammation, and the use of plant-based medicines in clinical practice. Her remarks on the clinical challenges with biofilm will change your perspective on several clinical mysteries. Ed Note: This is a replay, published earlier and republished here because it was so well received previously. Dr. Fresco is making a difference and she tells you how you can begin to understand the importance of Candida on the brain and biomedical dysfunction. At CorePsych Treatment Systems we use this product regularly, and always experience more improvements than when previously missing the relevance of biofilm and used treatments with only conventional antifungals. Biocidin isn't the only candida product out there. However, many who dig deeper for clinical answers for treatment failure repeatedly praise it - for the reasons we discuss in this interview. My Favorite Clinical Question: #2If you follow our discussions with guests here at CBJ you've heard me address this issue repeatedly - "How many times a day do you go #2?" No, I'm not trying to become a gastroenterologist. My end target is the mind, not the gut. Sorry to sound so defensive, but I can assure you there is a reason - many reasons - as other territorial docs don't consider the significance of these medically relevant connections - and I am a psychiatrist, so you can imagine how that chatter goes. It is necessary to remind folks: I'm a brain function professional looking for answers that cripple brain function, feelings and thinking. Cognition and affect just-don't-work-right with destructive #2 problems1 - brain functions do become unpredictable in spite of psychotherapy and meds. And, even more importantly, medication treatments become almost impossible when bowel and downstream liver compromises pollute the traditional psychiatric medical care process. Meds must first pass through the body to arrive in the brain. [Transit Time Tool for cost-effective home evaluation of bowel function - Mayo Clinic at Pub Med Transit Time Reference - http://corepsych.com/ttt (PDF Here)] Candida and its protective biofilm change gut function, contribute to malabsorption and directly affect brain function. Biofilm Downstream From Candida Creates Treatment Failurehttps://www.cdc.gov/fungal/diseases/candidiasis/ (Candida) is one of the most prominent challenges that traditional medical folk think is quackery. They believe that it's quackery for one simple reason: they limit their targets to only bowel function, life-and-death acuity, not chronic brain function associated with psychiatric treatment failure. The FDA assures us that http://corepsych.com/tests (candida laboratory testing) is valid, so what's the point with the candida naysayers? Lack of experience and denial of hard data based on inside gossip creates a limited view of these pervasive, coalescent mind problems. To overlook the cognitive problems of candida and...

Mind science evolution provides a metaphor for the evolution of humankind. Neurohacker Ideas are Timely - Daniel's Overview:"In many ways, our contemporary technical prowess works against us. Yes, we have access to a level of information that would have seemed like pure magic to folks even a few centuries ago. But this doesn't come for free – our always-on, connected-info lifestyle immerses us in a barrage of demands on our attention and processing power. Even at their best, our poor hominid brains are overwhelmed by the pings and buzzes of social media. And we are not positioning ourselves to be at our best. Consider, for example, real nutrition. For hundreds of thousands of years, our tool using hunter-gatherer ancestors had access to food that provided a vast diversity of nutrients from topsoil that was robust and healthy and part of a whole, complex biologic system, without actually any toxicity in the environment. These days most of our food is produced, processed and transported in a complex soup of chemistry that we don't come close to fully understanding. Neurohacker Insights Beyond NutritionAnd even if we eat the healthiest food, which most of us don't even come close to, even the very healthiest food grows in minerally-depleted soil that leaves our needs unmet. Or consider pollution and our toxic environment. We spend much of our time indoors, not getting enough vitamin D and breathing in a host of volatile organic compounds (VOCs) from all of our modern building materials. The average mother has 136 petrochemicals in her breastmilk in the United States. Those chemicals are carcinogens and neurotoxins, and we see these kinds of things continue to proliferate. So we've got a situation where we need more...

Chapter 1 of Resilience explains how resilience develops in the brain, how to choose the experiences that will strengthen the brain's response flexibility now, and five conditions that accelerate the brain's learning and rewiring. Chapters 2–7 contain most of the book's exercises. Within each chapter, the exercises progress from simple to complex and address increasing levels of disruption to resilience. And chapter 8 suggests lifestyle choices that readers can make to keep their brain functioning. Linda's comprehensive CoreBrain recovery focus is clear, constructive and interesting. You will enjoy her insights to increase resilience for your next steps along the Way. Moxie For Self TransformationAlexia Vernon - In this age of women's empowerment, as ever increasing numbers of women are finding their voices and daring to take a stand for themselves and their causes. The publication of  https://amzn.to/2TcQqKZ (Step Into Your Moxie: Amplify Your Voice, Visibility, and Influence in the World ) (New World Library, October 16, 2018), by speaking and leadership coach Alexia Vernon, couldn't be more perfectly timed. Through her coaching and training programs and extensive speaking engagements, Alexia was dubbed a “Moxie Maven” by the Obama White House Office of Public Engagement for her robust approach to empowering women. She has helped tens of thousands of individuals speak with power and impact at work and in business, with their friends and family, onstage, on camera, and above all, to themselves. In https://amzn.to/2TcQqKZ (Step into Your Moxie), she distills the communication discoveries she has made throughout her dynamic career into simple, effective, and practical recommendations women can use to experience deep and lasting transformation in all facets of their communication. You'll love her - she's on it with helpful, practical insights! Photo by https://unsplash.com/photos/flEStjHTY14?utm_source=unsplash&utm_medium=referral&utm_content=creditCopyText (Leio McLaren (@leiomclaren)) on https://unsplash.com/search/photos/courage?utm_source=unsplash&utm_medium=referral&utm_content=creditCopyText (Unsplash) She Sets A Moxie Example"Moxie is a mindset, heart set, and skill set that you can develop because I was most definitely not born with it. During the first quarter of my life, I experienced an on-again-off-again relationship — with my voice. One moment I felt like I was tap-dancing on eggshells, striving to be liked, give the right answers, and not be called out for failing to be enough of whatever I conjectured other people wanted me to be. Then at other times, often close to those former times, I had an insufferable need to be recognized and praised for my achievements. I knew I was born to make a significant, positive impact on the world, but only later I learned how to redirect away from thinking about what other people were thinking of me. Now my thoughts drive directly to the objective - the impact that I want to make. In the past most of the time when I spoke my voice quavered, I used diminishing words and body language, and my speaking did not move people to take action." Why Moxie Now?"While shopping Step into Your Moxie to publishers, some of the feedback I received was, 'I'm not sure women's empowerment or citizens' marches and protests will still be a thing by the time the book comes out.' Then, while writing the book, #MeToo and #TimesUp happened, millions of Americans continued to march on behalf of #BlackLivesMatter, #MarchForOurLives, and #KeepFamiliesTogether, and the world changed. However, while women have marched and spoken up and out on behalf of themselves and others, it's one thing to go to a rally or broadcast your views in an angry (or empowering) social media post. It's an altogether different thing to tell yourself, and believe, that you possess the power and ability to advocate for yourself — especially if you are in an environment, professionally or personally, in which the people around you are complicit in maintaining the status quo. Media outlets such as CNN, PBS, and Inc. predicted that 2018 would be 'the year of the woman,' but how many of us really feel like we have the moxie we need to consistently speak up, tell our truth, and create the future we want for ourselves and our loved ones? In Step into Your Moxie, I give women a pathway to cultivate their power so they can use it to speak up for themselves and the issues and causes that matter most to them. As I say in the book when you step into your moxie, it is an act of divine service to yourself—and also to the world."...

She recently completed a TED Residency in New York and her TED Talk on Life Skills for young kids will be available soon. In this CBJ/272 interview, we discuss Ariane's insight into the evolution of Spiritual Life Lessons For Kids. Spiritual Life - Books For You & Your ChildrenImagine tapping into the beauty of a child's innate wisdom through the sharing of sweet and wise words of guidance and valuable life skills. Ariane de Bonvoisin's series entitled Giggles and Joy: Spiritual Life Lessons for Kids does just this, with a healthy dose of enlightened humor and profound, yet simple, messages for babies and children up to ten years old. The series includes three special books: Giggles and Joy, You Are Loved and Being You.   Giggles and Joy gives new perspectives on everyday life, by celebrating topics like Mother Earth in unique ways, a child's growing body and all its remarkable abilities, and the importance of sleep. The book articulates the power of subjects like kindness and gratitude, and also of bad days as well. She helps the reader transform tough moments by infusing them with a new light, paving the way for an unexpected, yet welcome lesson. Giggles and Joy is a book that demonstrates the power each child carries within. Through the words found in this delightful book, images are created of a world beyond what is in front of the reader. Ariane created a deeper message that gives voice to a child's spiritual nature. You Are Loved centers on the concept that love is everywhere, breaking it down into examples so practical and relatable that speaks to a child on a soulful level. This radiant book transcends the mysteries of life into a thing of beauty; life can be happy and sad, confusing and exciting. Difficult experiences like illness, scary issues like dealing with change, and confusing matters like coping with grown-ups' emotions are all touched on with meaningful morsels of wisdom, tapping into the soul, helping children remember their inner light. Being You breathes energy into a child's essential connection to nature, terrestrial and spiritual. Touching upon subjects like God (while honoring the abundance of diverse spiritual beliefs), in telling the truth and the importance of breathing, this sweet book empowers children to believe in their strength of character. Readers are encouraged to take charge of their lives by listening to their heart and thinking for themselves. Being You nurtures the children who read it, wrapping them in a cloak of love and light, teaching them that they have the tools on the inside to heal, to overcome, to be who they are. Ariane describes her books as being "'spiritual' in that "they are imbued with love, optimism, humor, honesty, and common sense. They do not promote or offend anyone's sense of God or the Universe. They exist beautifully next to anyone's beliefs. It is urgent that we take care of our children's spirit as much as their minds and bodies." The onset of Louis' psychosis occurred when he was 19, and he was first hospitalized in October 2014. From childhood through high school, Louis was happy, athletic, musically gifted, made friends quickly, and achieved outstanding academic success. He was subsequently hospitalized three more times for durations of several weeks to months. In March of 2017, Louis once again rejected therapy due to medication side effects along with non-acceptance of his condition, making it nearly impossible to manage. Two months later, in the throes of psychosis, he did not understand the danger posed by the nearby river. He perished there on June 4, 2017.
