Episode 580 - Debbra Blosnich - It Ends With Me - Breaking the Cycles that keep us StuckIt Ends with Me is a Movement to empower people to Reclaim their power after Trauma AND to educate people on how to protect our children from abuse today. The two part mission is a result of Debbra's story of growing up a victim of Childhood Sexual Abuse and living a life shadowed by the lingering affects of such a childhood. The mission includes helping others Reclaim their power in months versus years with specific tools and mindset shifts. The other focus is on education about how to keep children from abuse today. A difficult conversation today avoids a painful healing process later.Book: It Ends With Me: Breaking the cycles that keep us stuckThe cycle of abuse ends here, now. I will heal myself. I will go boldly to share my story and end the shame of what was done to me; for me and those who need to do the same. These generational curses that plague our families have to end. I let it all go. It wasn't my fault. I was a child whose innocence was stolen. Whose identity was tarnished. I had been brave and strong for far too long. From now on I will love myself with the same love I have for others. I know love is supportive. Love cares when you are hurt. Love uplifts and encourages. Love seeks to help you become your best self. Love appreciates who you are. Love accepts your faults but requires you to rise above them when necessary and do better. Love wants you to be safe and happy. Love is a place to be your true self. Love is reciprocal. It cherishes you and celebrates you. Love wants to see the love you give returned to you tenfold. Love sees your pain and wipes away your tears. Love opens its arms and offers a safe place to lay it all down and know you are loved.Find the love you are so deserving of and give it to yourself!!I decided to create a book that is also a journal that will hopefully start you on a journey to loving yourself and seeing yourself as the amazing individual you are.https://www.itendswithme.me/Support the show___https://livingthenextchapter.com/podcast produced by: https://truemediasolutions.ca/Coffee Refills are always appreciated, refill Dave's cup here, and thanks!https://buymeacoffee.com/truemediaca

In this episode, the Agony Aunties address a listener's courageous question about pursuing romantic relationships after surviving childhood sexual abuse (CSA). The listener shares their struggle with complex PTSD (C-PTSD) and interest in dating, emotions they find challenging to navigate. The Agony Aunties emphasise the importance of going slowly, staying in therapy, and reclaiming one's sexuality and agency. I have learned over the years that one way I receive revelation is feeling an undeniable sense of knowing what I should do, especially when things are out of my comfort zone. I knew from the Holy Spirit that I would find tremendous healing in group therapy; I still felt alone, and I needed to connect with people who also experienced childhood trauma. I don't think it was by chance that a leader in my church helped start a charitable foundation for the benefit of Adult Female Survivors of Childhood Sexual Abuse.

Nick has a career of over a decade's worth of civil service spanning fire, corrections, and public safety, and he is also a survivor of CSA, more commonly known as Childhood Sexual Abuse. -Male sexual trauma is seen as a common issue that goes relatively ignored within American society. The suspected ratio of boys who experience some form of sexual abuse varies from one in six to as high as one in four by the age of eighteen. -Despite society's acknowledgement of the prevalence of this issue, the average length of time between male sexual abuse and disclosure is twenty years, not accounting for abuses that never get reported. -Childhood Sexual Abuse is a form of trauma, and while these childhood trauma statistics were not CSA specific, they are certainly related and may display some of the predispositions male CSA survivors encounter: victims of childhood trauma are; 2.4 times as likely to experience ongoing anxiety, 3.6 times as likely to be depressed, 7.2 times as likely to become alcoholic, and 11.1 times as likely to become intravenous drug users. Learn to regulate your nervous system with my free course- Grounding Skills for Anxiety, and PTSD: https://courses.therapyinanutshell.com/grounding-skills-for-anxiety-stress-and-ptsd/?utm_medium=YTDescription&utm_source=YouTube This podcast is for those of you who were sexually abused as children, who perhaps carry some shame because you had mixed and complicated feelings about that abuse. And what I mean by that is you were groomed, and maybe you liked or initiated some aspects of the situation, and now you perhaps feel ashamed, because you feel confused about whether you were a victim or a willing participant. This can directly contribute to PTSD and CPTSD. I think our collective silence about this topic leaves survivors of Childhood Sexual Abuse feeling like they're the only one who felt confused about their part in the abuse. That leads to shame that leaves them thinking that they're broken, bad or deviant. And CPTSD can impact people for a lifetime. By the end of this podcast, you'll be able to understand how the complicated nature of Childhood sexual abuse leads to shame, and also, how to work through that. Trigger warning! This episode is NOT meant to be heard by children unless our mom audience feels they're ready for it. If you're a survivor of any sexual trauma, as a child or as an adult, you may not be ready for it either, so gauge your ability to revisit the past. We are here for you either way. If you need resources to deal with PTSD due to a history of abuse, we have links for you in the shownotes, and we are always just a DM/PM or email away. This episode IS meant to prepare us to hear the hard truths about child sex abuse, such as our personal experiences with it, how pervasive it is, and also new things, like how subversive it can be. Learn about grooming, disclosure, even forgivenesss, and how to be the safety net our kids need in the event that the worst should happen; may Allah SWT protect them all always. Ameen. Shariea Shoatz and our team made ourselves incredibly vulnerable in this episode because we trust our Muslim and non Muslim mom sisters to receive these hard truths in love and compassion, and to offer those in turn to themselves, as well as to their children. We are not alone in this. ... Sexual abuse doesn't happen because we are Americans and that's "this culture." NO! Sexual abuse doesn't monopolize any one country or society. Many cultures within and without the US have to deal with it, but we have the opportunity to dive deep into this difficult topic and figure out how to prevent and treat it. Mommying means rolling up our sleeves for the sake of the kids and our God-given duty to protect them at all costs.Shariea Shoatz is on the money when she says education is the best prevention, so that's where most of this conversation will be. Host Laura Wilcox interviews Shiona for this episode of Unexpected Turns. Shiona comes to faith in Christ as a child, yet only her grandmother nurtures her young faith. Because of childhood sexual abuse, Shiona fights a battle against shame even after becoming part of a Christian community of believers in middle and high school. As a college student, Shiona's feelings of shame contribute to a season of sin until she confesses to her college pastor. Renewed by God's forgiveness and grace, she explores opportunities for ministry and soon discovers her love for the Japanese people. After serving in a year of ministry in Japan as an English teacher, Shiona marries and returns to Japan with her husband and daughter. She and her husband intend to spend their lives as missionaries in Japan, but another pregnancy triggers severe anxiety for Shiona, and she and her husband must return to the States for her mental health as well as the baby's birth. As Shiona further processes some of the pain from her past, she sees her need to base her identity not on being a missionary but on what God says is true of her as his beloved child. In time, after her kids are all in school, God gives her the opportunity to befriend Japanese women attending English classes at her church. She is thankful God has brought her full circle as she shares her faith and friendship with Japanese people in her Texas community. Jeannie chats with Mary Ann Otley, the founder of Love Triumphs! a ministry designed to lead women into a closer walk with Jesus, where they can be transformed by His love. Mary Ann shares the story of her childhood trauma and how Jesus brought her total healing. In addition to lots of wisdom regarding our relationship with our children, Mary Ann also discusses the format for her Journaling with Jesus classes and the steps for quieting our hearts so we can hear from God. About Mary Ann Like so many women, I experienced the humiliation and shame of being sexually abused as a child. I coped by internalizing the pain and tried to create my own happiness for decades. I lost my bearings as I sought to be accepted from people that could not fill the void in my heart. I felt like a pinball in a pinball machine bouncing from one crisis to the next, experiencing one disappointment after another. The anguish I had experienced for decades began to be relieved as I found the answers to three questions: “What is Real?” “What is Important? “What's the truth?” I discovered the pathway to healing from a place, I least expected it. And I found that pure love really does exist, healing can happen, freedom is within our grasp. Just as I was led along this healing path, my mission through Love Triumphs is to guide other women along their path of healing and freedom. To learn more, read my story Love Triumphs! — Carl Rogers, psychologist wrote in 1959 his view on human nature, that when people are placed in meaningful therapeutic conditions, they will naturally change in a positive direction. Carl Rogers and William Miller (psychologist) have separately shared that this tendency toward reaching your true inner self “it is as natural as a plant's growth upward toward the light when given adequate soil, water, and sunshine. It is as if each person has a natural mature end-state or purpose (Telos, in Greek) toward which he or she will grow given optimal conditions.” They say that the Telos of an acorn is to become an oak tree; to reach its true purpose. Each action we take as humans is directed towards some Telos (i.e. purpose) and real change involves identifying concrete steps needed to attain Telos. Telos has many terms that describes it in philosophy; goal, completion, or fulfillment; this translates into all walks of life. We're privileged to have an extraordinary guest on our show, Lynn Kee, who makes the brave decision to share her life's most challenging experiences. Lynn, a survivor of childhood sexual trauma, offers a chilling recount of her ordeal, unfolding her family's struggle as they grappled with the aftermath of her trauma. Coupled with her own healing journey, she bravely articulates the contrasting paths she and her sister took towards recovery. Lynn's story doesn't shy away from the complexities of her relationship with an older mentor who manipulated his way into transforming a platonic mentorship into an inappropriate sexual relationship. Lynn's courage to speak about her own experiences of childhood sexual abuse brings to light the deep-seated guilt and shame she had to confront, and how writing offered a safe haven during her darkest days. The conversation takes an introspective turn as Lynn provides a critique on the justice system's handling of rape cases, based on her own painful experiences. With her family's quest for justice leading to re-traumatization, she discusses the disparity in how her grooming case was handled compared to her sister's violent rape case. Lynn's story continues to inspire as she tackles the impact of the sex offender registry board on her life, her sobriety struggles, and the empowering impact of her advocacy work.
