Send us a textWelcome to today's episode! We're tackling a vital question: How can we stop conflict before it starts? Drawing from Joshua 22, we'll explore practical, proactive steps to prevent discord in our communities. Join us as we learn from biblical examples of clear communication, humility, and unity that help keep strife at bay.Episode NotesProactive Prevention:Conflict isn't just about mending what's broken—it's about nipping issues in the bud.Just as doctors prevent illness and lawyers advise on avoiding legal trouble, we must learn strategies to stop discord before it escalates.Biblical Case Study (Joshua 22):The context: After dividing the land, two-and-a-half tribes remained on the east side of the Jordan.Joshua commended their obedience and sent them home, but a misunderstanding arose when they built an altar as a memorial. This act, intended to honor their shared victories, was misinterpreted by the other tribes as an act of rebellion.Key Lessons in Conflict Prevention:Direct Confrontation: Address issues early with honest, face-to-face communication rather than letting grievances fester.Open Dialogue: The nine-and-a-half tribes avoided war by forming a committee, meeting their brethren, and clearly explaining their intentions.Unified Purpose: Emphasize a shared mission and remind each other of the blessings and responsibilities bestowed by God.Practical Application:Whether in your family, church, or community, don't let minor misunderstandings grow into major disputes.Approach conflicts with humility, clarity, and a willingness to compromise—just as Joshua's people did.Remember: True unity is built on direct, loving communication that preempts division.Thank you for joining us as we explore these timeless strategies to prevent conflict. May this message inspire you to foster unity and proactive peace in all your relationships. Christian or otherwise.Bonus Q&A.Why Did God Choose the Tribe of Levi? The tribe of Levi was uniquely chosen by God to serve as Israel's priestly tribe, dedicated to spiritual leadership and the care of the Tabernacle and, later, the Temple. But why did God specifically choose the Levites for this sacred role? The Bible gives us clear insights into His divine reasoning.1. The Levites' Zeal for GodOne of the most decisive moments leading to the Levites' selection occurred in Exodus 32 during the incident of the golden calf. When Moses descended from Mount Sinai and saw Israel's idolatry, he called out:“Whoever is for the Lord, come to me.” And all the Levites rallied to him.” (Exodus 32:26, NIV)2. A Replacement for the FirstbornOriginally, God had consecrated the firstborn of every Israelite family to serve Him (Exodus 13:2), but after the golden calf incident, He replaced them with the Levites:“I have taken the Levites from among the children of Israel instead of all the firstborn … the Levites shall be mine.” (Numbers 3:12, NKJV)Support the showFor an ad-free version of my podcasts plus the opportunity to enjoy hours of exclusive content and two bonus episodes a month whilst also helping keep the Bible Project Daily Podcast free for listeners everywhere support me at;|PatreonSupport me to continue making great content for listeners everywhere.https://thebibleproject.buzzsprout.com

Key Text: Exodus 20:8-11   We are continuing our series “Living God's Way” looking at the 4th commandment which God gave Moses, telling him to ‘Keep the Sabbath Day Holy'. Both the principle and the practice of resting comes directly from God as part of His 10 Commandments, modelling to us how to live the best life. The Sabbath day is not something as a killjoy command here, but something commanded because God has our best interests at heart and wants to bless us in every way. Rest is at the heart of Christianity.  In a world where we are constantly busy and running from one task to the next, the Sabbath provides us with an opportunity to slow down, recharge, and refocus our hearts and minds on God. Perhaps we feel we are too busy or have too many needs to take a day off and rest. Yet as we do, we will see how we flourish spiritually and in every other way, and in turn can be a blessing to others too.  1. God Shows Us How To Rest (Genesis 2:2-3; Exodus 31:17; Genesis 1:27; Psalm 127:2; Mark 2:27-28) 2. God Wants Us To Rest In Him (Exodus 20:10; Exodus 33:14; Jeremiah 31:25; Matthew 11:28-29) 3. We Will Be Blessed And Bless Others As We Rest (Hebrews 10:24-25; 1 Samuel 2:30)  Apply 1) God Shows Us How To Rest It's quite something to think that the Lord God Almighty Himself took a day off (Genesis 2:2-3)! But that's what the Bible teaches: God stopped and took a day to rest and enjoy all He had made (Exodus 31:17). Where we see that God worked then rested, we should too (Genesis 1:27). In our modern society of constant drivenness for further productivity, greater wealth, more efficiencies and maximising our time, it is important that we have one day a week where we change our normal routines to rest and refocus on God (Psalm 127:2). We need the Sabbath otherwise God would not have made it for us (Mark 2:27-28). Maybe for you the Sabbath is rest from paid employment. Or maybe if you're working hard to maintain a home and look after the kids all week, it's a day where you don't do as many chores but prioritise family time together and with the Lord instead. Whatever your individual circumstances, the principle God sets for us is that first we work, then we rest.   2) God Wants Us To Rest In Him Both Christians and non-Christians would agree that it's important to rest. And as Christians, we see God commanded it and we should partake in it. The way Christians and non-Christians live most days of the week may not outwardly appear too different. But on the seventh day, there should be a noticeable difference (Exodus 20:10). The Sabbath isn't a day to just fill with our leisure pursuits, but a day set apart as holy to the Lord so we can be fully refreshed in spirit as well as physically. Keeping the Sabbath holy is a way of demonstrating our love and obedience to God. It is a way of putting Him first and acknowledging that He is the source of all blessings we enjoy. Now we mustn't fall into the trap that the Pharisees and religious Jewish leaders did of making this command to rest equate to a list of rules and regulations. Out of this one command, they made 1521 further rules of what you weren't allowed to do on the Sabbath! But whilst our recreations can become distractions from the pressures and problems of life, they become like gods to us when we value them over time with the Lord. For some, like those in the emergency services, sometimes the Sabbath day cannot be a Sunday, but then it is important to take another day in the week to also set apart. But for those who can, and that is the majority of us, we should do all we can to enjoy the Sabbath as a holy day, a day set apart to worship God. In the Bible, God repeatedly told His people thatreal refreshing comes from Him (Exodus 33:14; Jeremiah 31:25; Matthew 11:28-29). So how important is it for you to experience refreshing, worship and fellowship in the presence of God as part of your Sabbath rest each week? Is there anything that stops you, or matters more to you than having the sabbath as a holy day set apart to God? It is in the presence of God where you can find real rest: body, soul and spirit. More than simply distracting us from our reality, there is nothing and no one else who can revitalise our whole being, minister to every need and permanently remove every burden like God can.  3) We Will Be Blessed And Bless Others As We Rest When we follow God's instructions through the Ten Commandments, we help bring the Kingdom of heaven on earth. Whether or not people choose to follow the Ten Commandments, they still exist, including this command to rest, because God wants to bring His Kingdom here on earth as we live God's way (Hebrews 10:24-25). We come to church to worship God, to be renewed in our perspectives and helped to take the God-given view of ourselves and the world. It's where we can be reminded that we are spiritual beings, made in the image of God the Creator, and be encouraged and stimulated in our faith. It's an opportunity where, no matter your home and personal circumstances, on this one day a week we can come together across all the different generations, backgrounds and ethnicities to worship and fellowship with our church family. And as we fellowship with one another, we are refreshed and we in turn refresh others. As well as enjoying time as a church family, it's so important to also take time to enjoy in your own families as well.  When did you last have a leisurely meal together as a family at the table, no phones or devices, just enjoying one another's company? Maybe today could be that day! Obeying the Lord's command means we will set an example of enjoying a healthy work/life balance, of not being stressed and burned out but flourishing in life by living God's way. Would you be a kinder, more generous individual if you had a little more rest in your life? You and your family, colleagues, neighbours and even complete strangers would all be blessed if you really encountered the Lord as part of your rest time each week! So what's stopping you? Is there fear of missing out: in your finances by not working, of promotion in your sports team by choosing church over a match? Or maybe have you just not prioritised taking time out. Just as with Olympian Eric Liddell, so too the Lord will honour us when we keep to His principles (1 Samuel 2:30). So what adjustments do we need to make so we have one day which is different? Where we don't go into business, but where we focus on fellowship with God, where we focus on restoration of our spirit and time with the family. Let's make this a priority in our lives and we will find we have much more energy for the six other days. And God will give us His grace to do it.  Let's line up with Him to see His best.

Chosen, Appointed and Skill with Juhah Leat Then David said, “No one may carry the ark of God but the Levites, for the Lord has chosen them to carry the ark of God and to minister before Him forever” (1 Chronicles 15:2) The Hebrew word for “chosen,” means, “chosen after having successfully passed a test or trial; its best after it has been tested.” When Moses was up on Mount Sinai with God the Levites were chosen from among the other tribes because they had resisted worshiping a false god. Upon Moses' return from the mountain he found people worshiping a false god and asked the question. “Whoever is on the Lord's side come to me!” And all the sons of Levi gathered themselves together to Him” (Exodus 32:25-26) Who is on the Lord's side? “Now these are the men whom David appointed over the service of song in the house of the LORD, after the ark came to rest. They were ministering with music before the dwelling place of the tabernacle of meeting, until Solomon had built the house of the LORD in Jerusalem, and they served in their office according to their order. And their brethren, the Levites, were appointed to every kind of service of the tabernacle of the house of God” (1 Chronicles 6:31, 32, 48) “And he appointed some of the Levites to minister before the ark of the LORD, to commemorate, to thank, and to praise the LORD God of Israel:” (1 Chronicles 16:4) The Hebrew words for “appointed” means “to stand and give.” “Chenaniah, leader of the Levites, was instructor in charge of the music, because he was skillful;” ‭‭I Chronicles‬ ‭15‬:‭22‬ ‭NKJV‬‬ In the period of the last six months, where have I improved musically? The events related here took place in the early days of the Israelites journey from Egypt to the Promised Land. It was a period in their history where they enjoyed remarkable provision. But it was also a time where we read that the people complained often. These complaints are recorded, for example, at Exodus 15-24- 16-2-3- and 17-2. Looking on further, the same pattern is seen in Numbers 11-1 and 14-1-4. --Harvest is a time to remind us not to complain but to be very grateful. This is how we should be, not only at Harvest, but all the year. We need to learn from Paul -see Philippians 4-11-13-. --In the passage in Exodus, Moses and Aaron were frequently targets for the people's complaints. That was their usual complaints procedure. But actually their complaints were made ultimately against God Himself. It is God who hears their complaints against Him -Exodus 16- 6-7, 9-11-.--Main Headings---1- God provides in time of need-2- We are given to complaining-3- Look what we have

Kampala International Church | Lubowa

Recently God has been highlighting the importance of Glory in my life and in all believer's lives. What do we mean by glory? There are two general meanings.First, the glory of God. God is so powerful (all powerful actually), so huge (without limits!), so bright, so good, so holy (and I am struggling to describe God here) that He has His own glory. Where He is fully known, in heaven, His glory inhabits every part. So when we get to heaven we will be in His glory and when God has made the new heaven and the new earth, His glory will be everywhere, Revelation 21:1. We sometimes refer to heaven as ‘Glory'. When a Christian dies, we might say that they have been ‘promoted to glory'. Everybody might be sad at their funeral but they themselves are not sad, having arrived in heaven and seeing and fully knowing God. Now God is everywhere today, in fact he is running the whole show, all of nature, the whole universe. He is continually giving life to every living thing. He created every living thing and he sustains every living thing. For example, Psalms tells us that he creates and calms the waves 107: 25, 29, and he feeds the wild animals 147:9 and I am sure He really enjoys doing that, even though nature is currently fallen and groaning in expectation of the new heaven and earth. (That doesn't give you an excuse to groan about things!)

Hello, friends, I am Pastor Calvin Lindstrom with Christian Liberty Academy School System. Welcome to There’s No Place Like Home. A number of years ago, Ken Ham and his ministry Answers in Genesis developed an overview of Scripture and history in a clever way that they called the 7 C’s of history. They even had a nice song to help you memorize them. The Seven C’s were: Creation, Corruption, Catastrophe, Confusion, Christ, the Cross, Consummation. Overall this is a great overview, but as I reflected more on it, it moves from Genesis 11 to the Gospels. That is a big jump. And obviously, this outline was not meant say these are the only things you need to know. Anyway, as I reflected on this overview of the Bible, I came up with a way to double the number of categories which would provide a more robust summary of the Bible. So here are the 14 C sounds of history, one of them begins with a “K” but “C” can sound like K in certain words. Creation – Genesis 1  Corruption, the fall of Adam and Eve – Genesis 3  Catastrophe, Noah’s flood – Genesis 6-9  Confusion, The Tower of Babel – Genesis 11  Covenant, God’s calling and covenant with Abraham – Genesis 12  Circumcision, The sign of God’s covenant with Abraham – Genesis 15  Commandments, God gave to Israel a law not for her salvation but to direct her in serving Him – Exodus 20  Kingship, Though the LORD was to be king, Israel wanted an earthly king. God would use the line of kings to prepare the way for the coming of Christ. – 2 Samuel 7  Captivity, This seemed to be the end of God’s promises, but it would not be. There would be restoration and the Messiah would still come – 2 Chronicles 36 Christ - Gospels Cross - Gospels  Coming of the Spirit, the great day of Pentecost – Acts 2  Cornelius, the Holy Spirit came upon Gentiles showing the unity of Christ’s body – Acts 10:44-48  Consummation, the return of Christ – Titus 2:13-14 and other passages Next week I will talk more about this summary. I trust this expansion of the work of Ken Ham and Answers in Genesis will be helpful for you as you teach your children the flow of Scripture and God’s work of redemption. Exodus Ch 36-40 The Tabernacle - A place for God’s Presence Weekly Reading Plan Exodus 36:1-38 All we do is to be done for God’s glory as acts of worship. All of life can be worship of God. In what “ordinary” ways has God gifted you? How have you, or can you, use these in service to Him? Exodus 37:1–38:31 In this passage two things are revealed. First, that worship of God is serious business. God takes worship seriously, and we should too. Second, Gad cares about the details of your life. What “small” detail of your life do you need to trust that God knows and cares about? Exodus 39:1-43 We are called on to give God our best—of our time, energy, and resources—and to do so with joy. This is our act of worship. In which areas of life might you be holding something back from God? Exodus 40:1-33 The Israelites had been rescued from slavery in Egypt through the Passover in the middle of the first month of the year (Ex. 12:1-3). One year later, they were about to celebrate the first anniversary of the Passover with the tabernacle completed. It was a testament to God’s faithfulness. He had delivered His people and He was with them, guiding them toward their home. What spiritual markers in your life remind you of God’s faithfulness? Exodus 40:34-38 It’s a fitting end to the book. God’s unchanging faithfulness on display for a people who did not deserve it. It’s a fitting picture for God’s relationship with Israel of the Old Testament, and it is a fitting picture for us. It is a picture of the gospel. How have you seen God’s undeserved faithfulness in your life? As we conclude this study of Exodus Please consider how you can follow God daily Just as the Israelites did in Exodus. --- Support this podcast: https://anchor.fm/head-above-water/support

March 11, 2018 Look Up and Live John 3:14-15   Synopsis: The title of my sermon today is “Look Up and Live.”  I admit it sounds more like a warning to all those who text while driving.  We know better, but…we’ve been bitten by the technology bug and feel the need to be constantly in touch.       In case you’re wondering, no this is not part of a sermon series on smart phones.  Though maybe it should be.  “Look Up and Live” comes right out of the text of the Lord’s message to Moses.  You see, the Lord knows looking up to Him is the place to begin whenever His people are surrounded by troubles.  The way out of our troubles isn’t found in them.  The way out of our troubles is found in HIM (Exodus 21:4-9).  You see, I believe this story is not just about Moses, the people of Israel in their wilderness wandering and a nest of snakes.  I believe it’s about you and me and the way to the promised land (John 3:14-21).       How far does one have to go before he or she starts looking in a different direction for help (Psalm 107:17-22)?  What are you waiting on (Ephesians 2:1-10)?   Text: Numbers 21:4-9, NLT; John 3:14-21, ESV; Psalm 107:17-22, NLT; Ephesians 2:1-10, MSG.   Scripture Reading: Psalm 107:1-3

It takes seven months to prepare, and a single day to erect. But when the tabernacle stands complete, God descends as a cloud and fills it. No one, not even Moses can enter. What good is a renewal of the Edenic friendship of God and humans if no one can approach Him? Exodus ends with the question. Leviticus opens with an answer. The entire book guides us through offerings, priests, holiness laws, and festivals as a way to enter and walk with the presence of God.
