Ryan Kattner is a singer, songwriter, and lyricist for Man Man, Mister Heavenly and his solo effort, Honus Honus. The newest Man Man record, Carrot on Strings, is out now and is Man Man's first full length release on Sub Pop Records.  Old pals Joe and Ryan discuss the long road of Joe finally playing with Man Man, the process of writing the new record and Ryan explains the song Mongolian Spot and how the records art may parallel his life.  The two speculate on why Ryan is living in a “carrot orange” space and the consequences of making this decision at this point in his life. Ryan share's his experience splitting his head open in a bike accident, we learn the roll that Old Yeller plays on the new record, and we hear a couple tunes. Anand Wilder is a multi-instrumentalist, singer and songwriter.  After the break up of his band Yeasayer and the onset of a global pandemic, Anand felt it was time to buckle down and start and  finish and his solo record, I Don't Know My Words  (out 2022 on Last Gang records). Not only did he record the record himself at his home in Brooklyn, he co-wrote,  acted in and co-produced a gorgeous video for the first single Delirium Passes, which is an adaptation of the James Joyce story, The Boarding House and features actor Ben Sinclair.  In this episode,  Joe and Anand talk about his surprise half brother,  vasectomies,  Anand's drum recording technique, psychedelic frog licking and why Anand loved the process of making his video.   Also, Anand explains why he's taking a "weak" trio on the road rather than a "power" trio to support his new record.   And...... we get a surprise visit from the one and only Ryan Kattner, aka Honus Honus. https://lastgang.com/Music by Anand Wilder and Joe PlummerUse Code Fret10 for a free month of Music Production Suite Pro and a 10% discount on all other software. There’s a groupie in all of us. And that groupie dreams of the day they can have a conversation with their favorite artists. Well, this groupie just had that opportunity with this week’s guest. Honus Honus (Ryan Kattner) of the band Man Man has been a pianist, singer, and writer of music that I’ve been in love with since about 2008. I’ve been fortunate enough to witness the live show five times now and can promise you this: even if you feel the music isn’t your most favorite thing in the world, you’re going to have THE best time.  We cover a whole lot, from influence to band name ownership, infomercials about walking, and a love song for Ma Anand Sheela from the documentary Wild Wild Country. Those last two subjects come out of Man Man’s latest album Dream Hunting in the Valley of the In-Between, a culmination of where Honus Honus’ career has led him to today. So come on in for this show that I’ve been anticipating for months now. You’re lucky I’m willing to share! Follow Honus Honus on Instagram.Follow Man Man on Instagram.Check out Man Man on Spotify.Check out the merch on Bandcamp and Sub-Pop Records. Follow Nonethelesser wherever you wish! Music used in this episode, all from the album Dream Hunting in the Valley of the In-Between:Intro - Hunters18:10 - Animal Attraction32:40 - On the Mend47:20 - Goat1:02:20 - Lonely Beuys1:10:40 - Sheela1:20:30 - Powder My WigOutro - The Prettiest Song in the World

In the time before COVID-19, Tommy Brockert had well established himself as a top-flight events photographer. As events and group gatherings ground to halt due to health and safety concerns, Tommy was forced to do the pandemic pivot. He’s temporarily hung up his cameras and photo booths, and fired up the portable pizza oven instead, turning a hobby into a job with the launch of La Sorted's Pop Up Pizzeria. La Sorted’s has quickly gained a cult following in Los Angeles as folks have clamored for Tommy’s creative pizza toppings and focaccia sandwiches. In honor of La Sorted’s and the 2020 world champion LA Dodgers, we pop into our archives to revisit the musical performance from our first-ever show fully recorded in Los Angeles. The year was 2017, and we taped the show in our friend Cameron Parkins’ backyard home studio in West Hollywood. Our pal Ryan Kattner brought his tiny keyboard to play us songs from his solo project Honus Honus, whose debut album, Use Your Delusion, is a true love letter to the City of Angels.
