After the break up of his band Yeasayer and the onset of a global pandemic, Anand felt it was time to buckle down and start and finish and his solo record, I Don't Know My Words (out 2022 on Last Gang records). Not only did he record the record himself at his home in Brooklyn, he co-wrote, acted in and co-produced a gorgeous video for the first single Delirium Passes, which is an adaptation of the James Joyce story, The Boarding House and features actor Ben Sinclair. In this episode, Joe and Anand talk about his surprise half brother, vasectomies, Anand's drum recording technique, psychedelic frog licking and why Anand loved the process of making his video. Welcome to another episode of Who's There, our weekly call-in show where we take your questions, comments and concerns at 619-WHO-THEM. On today's episode, we identify the Wholigan behind "Lost In My Backyard," dig into 3EB's connection to Charlize Theron, and find out the truth about Step By Step's DECEPTIVE opening credits before going long on the most called-about topic of the month: Hilaria Baldwin. Constance Wu's boyfriend also comes up. So does Playboy Carti. But let's be honest... this is an episode about Hilaria. (And Alec! And Amy Schumer! And also, somehow, James Gandolfini?) As always, call 619.WHO.THEM to leave questions, comments and concerns, and we may play your call on a future episode.
In the time before COVID-19, Tommy Brockert had well established himself as a top-flight events photographer. As events and group gatherings ground to halt due to health and safety concerns, Tommy was forced to do the pandemic pivot. He’s temporarily hung up his cameras and photo booths, and fired up the portable pizza oven instead, turning a hobby into a job with the launch of La Sorted's Pop Up Pizzeria. La Sorted’s has quickly gained a cult following in Los Angeles as folks have clamored for Tommy’s creative pizza toppings and focaccia sandwiches. In honor of La Sorted’s and the 2020 world champion LA Dodgers, we pop into our archives to revisit the musical performance from our first-ever show fully recorded in Los Angeles.
