This week I travel to Bell Tower Brewing in Kent, Ohio. My guest for this episode is Jennifer Hermann who is one of the co-owners as well as the head brewer for Bell Tower. In this interview we talk about the history of the brewery from it being in church in the mid 1800s to it becoming the home of a commercial laundry equipment company, and then later becoming Kent's 3rd brewery. Jennifer talks about her early fascination with beer that led to her home brewing and then later volunteering at Thirsty Dog and Hoppin Frog. Eventually she landed a brewing gig at Market Garden in Cleveland and the rest is history. Equilibrium and District 96 have teamed up to create some raw sexual tension. Sexual Fluctuation Batch 6 is here to help you get you discover yourself and maybe help you get your freak on. It's a DIPA with an 8% ABV made with Citra and Galaxy hops. Surprisingly we've never covered a Hoppin Frog Brewery beer. They are regularly released in Northern Europe so we're not sure why it's taken almost 5 years.  Pentuple is a 15.1% ABV Belgian Tripel. This is Belgian Tripel on steroids. 

We return for season 2 of Pint Talking. In the first episode of the new season Bird and I discuss trends that are expected to continue in 2021 as well as talking about how Facebook is full of angry people looking to argue all the time. I declare that I may very will give up on Facebook entirely in the coming weeks, and Bird declares that NEIPA's are his most favorite style of beer ever. In this weeks interview I sit down with Fred Karm who is the founder and brew master at Hoppin' Frog Brewery in Akron Ohio. Fred discusses the brewing scene in Akron in 2006 when Hoppin Frog was formed. In another unique story Fred tells me about how Peanut Butter Hazelnut Caramel Chocolate Cake Stout won a gold medal at a beer contest in Belgium which is of course strange since they are so heavily steeped in tradition.

Since the world has been confined to personal domiciles, Carlin and Rebecca have the opportunity to work down their large collection of cellar beers. All four of the beers tasted for this episode got some sort of barrel treatment, but benefited from that barrel in different ways.
