Welcome to episode #252 of The COD Casuals, where we discuss all things Call of Duty, casual and professional! In this episode, we break down the first official week of the CDL for Black Ops 7, and we are thrilled to finally have it here. After a few pre-season matches that we covered in past episodes, we finally get to see where most of the teams stand as of now. We break down the matches, who were the stars to look out for, and which teams we feel are already in danger. This is the most competitive year we have had in the CDL, and performing well early in the season is a must. Along with the CDL, the new sniper rule of 2 lives with a sniper per SnD match has been used, and we give our thoughts on this ridiculous rule, and why we should just have snipers in like every other weapon. Finally, we close with our first impressions of the new season 1 maps, and which ones we hope will make it into competitive. Did you get to watch the first week of matches? If so, what are your initial takeaways? Who are your top teams, and who do you feel is going to surf the bottom of the standings? Finally, what are your first impressions on the new season 1 maps and weapons? Did they deliver, or was it underwhelming? Please let us know as we discuss this and much more! Hope you all enjoy the episode and we'll see you next week. Follow us:Twitter: @TheCODCasualsInstagram: @TheCODCasualsTikTok: @TheCODCasualsContact us:Business Inquiries: TheCODCasuals@gmail.com

FNaF 2 crushes box office expectations, proving (again) that game IP owns Hollywood. We break down Matthew Ball's take on the EA/PIF deal, why 93% ownership signals a sports-media empire play, not an LBO, and why the press got the story wrong. Then: the Nex Playground, a $200 kids' console that quietly outsold PS5 in November. Is this the next underserved frontier in family gaming? We also tear into UA financing schemes masquerading as “cohort funding.” Spoiler: the effective interest rates rhyme with credit-card debt, and studios have died using them.Call of Duty launches an apology tour for Black Ops 7 and vows to stop annualized crunch. We assess the odds. And we close with AppLovin beating Google on Android e-commerce ads, inside Google's own OS. A massive signal for the future of UA as e-comm competition starts eating the gaming pie.

Triggered by BO7's mixed reviews (Metacritic 67, Steam "Mixed" 40-43% positive), Europe sales down 63% vs Battlefield 6 (7M+ copies in 3 days, Oct 2025) and 50%+ vs BO6, franchise fatigue from "slop" complaints, AI art backlash. Quote: “We will drive innovation that is meaningful, not incremental” for annual releases with unique experiences, original titles over sequels/remakes, Nintendo Switch expansion via Microsoft deal. BO7 gets unprecedented Season 1 support, free Multiplayer/Zombies trial next week + Double XP. Amid $35B+ franchise revenue since 2005, competition from Battlefield 6 (best-selling 2025 shooter) and Arc Raiders (4M+ sales), Activision vows to overdeliver, restore trust with polished content, flexible rotations (e.g., 2026 non-BO). In today's Daily Fix:The Call of Duty dev team has issued a statement basically acknowledging Black Ops 7's shortcomings and promising to move off the back-to-back yearly release of mainline Call of Duty games. This comes as Black Ops 7 was met with middling reviews and apparently worse sales numbers in the face of stiff competition this year. EA's Battlefield 6 and Embark Studios' ARC Raiders both launched around the same time and were met with widespread acclaim. Black Ops 6 was released only last year, and Modern Warfares 2 and 3 were also released in back-to-back years, leading many fans to complain each entry did not feel or play substantially different from the previous year's. In other news, two new games are being added to December's PlayStation Plus lineup: Assassin's Creed Mirage and Wo Long: Fallen Dynasty. They join the recently-released skating game Skate Story.Presented by Universal Orlando Resort.
Activision will stop releasing Modern Warfare and Black Ops Call of Duty games in consecutive years, aiming to provide a unique experience with each annual release. The company made this decision following mixed reviews and lower sales for Black Ops 7 and concerns about franchise fatigue. Activision plans to focus on meaningful innovation and respond to increased competition from titles like EA's Battlefield 6 and Arc Raiders. The company has not shared specific details about future games but intends to push the first-person shooter genre forward while aligning with player expectations.Learn more on this news by visiting us at: https://greyjournal.net/news/ Hosted on Acast. Welcome to episode #250 of The COD Casuals, where we discuss all things Call of Duty, casual and professional! In this episode, we cover the most recent “CDL” event, the Monster Energy Launch Invitational. This was our first taste of competitive for Black Ops 7, and from the outset, we know this is going to be a great year for competitive overall. We cover some of the big takeaways from the weekend's matches, and who are the teams to be looking out for the most. Though this is not even part of the CDL and is only pre-season, it still gives us insight into how these teams practice has been, and who will be looking good going into Major 1. Along with this, we cover the season 1 roadmap, which has lots of new and remastered maps that'll most likely make their way into ranked play and the CDL. We break down all aspects of the roadmap for multiplayer and zombies, and how this is the start Black Ops 7 needs to succeed. Did you end up watching this pre-season event? What do you think of watching Black Ops 7 competitively? Who do you think are gonna be the top teams going into Major 1? Finally, what do you think of the season 1 roadmap, and the remastered maps that are coming? Are you happy to see more remasters, or are you tired of it? Please let us know as we discuss this and much more! Hope you all enjoy the episode and we'll see you next week.Follow us:Twitter: @TheCODCasualsInstagram: @TheCODCasualsTikTok: @TheCODCasualsContact us:Business Inquiries: TheCODCasuals@gmail.com
Thanks to the likes of OpenAI, hardware manufacturers are scrambling to adjust prices amidst a shortage of RAM. As a result, things are about to become more expensive again! Unlike companies like Lenovo or PlayStation who seemingly bought stock in advance to help avoid price shock, Xbox appears to be ready to pass this one onto the consumer. Naturally, the "Xbox refugees" have turned their attention toward the Steam Machine which could fill a void in our gamer hearts. However, the Dukes find it hard to imagine a hero in this stock shortage story. Just how much will the Steam Machine be after Valve admits they will not be subsidizing and are just looking to make the device competitive? Will it look good beside a PlayStation 6 or next gen Xbox? We have a lot of questions, little answers, and even less money. On this episode of The GAP Luke Lawrie and Joab Gilroy talks about Joab being tricked by Darren Aronofsky's latest movie. The games they've been playing this week include Vampire Survivors VR, Monsters Are Coming – Rock & Road, ARC Raiders, and SCP: Secret Laboratory. #craftbeer #zelda #blops7 HEY! LISTEN! Zelda is finally coming to the big screen and we have a handful of stills from the upcoming live-action film --- and have plenty of thoughts. Will it do Hyrule right? Only time will tell. However, speaking of movies, the social media app for movie nerds is officially debuting an online rental service. And ending on video games, we take a look at the state of the slug match between Call of Duty Black Ops 7 vs. Battlefield 6, plus Black Ops's controversial use of AI. Cheers! Hello. This is Morgun, the stage manager for The Stage Select. Julian told me to write the show notes for this week's episode, but I am not allowed on stage during the show, so I am not aware what they discussed. However, I would like to say that I am okay after they landed their spaceship on me. I am not sure how long I was unconscious, but Abramo told me that he didn't get around to moving the ship until three days after they landed. Which makes me a little sad, but at least it's better than living in the poison swamps…00:00 The McRib is BACK29:28 Julian's final thoughts on Bloodlines 2, Dispatch01:11:06 Justin's final thoughts on Dark Deity II01:40:54 Justin's adventures in home searching01:50:34 The decisions made for Black Ops 7 are the worst possible; Demonschool02:13:59 Movie roundup (Keeper, Bugonia, Final Destination series, The Usual Suspects)02:31:26 CQC (Comments, Questions, Concerns)Theme song and interstitial music by Megan McDuffee: https://meganmcduffee.comLogo and artwork by John GholsonAnnouncer: John GholsonJoin our Discord, learn about how you can support the show, and more: https://linktr.ee/TheStageSelectEmail: thestageselectpod@gmail.comCopyright 2024 Space Monkey Mafia Productions
Eminem comes to Hitman in a promotional opportunity that feels at least a year late! Also, Sektori seems to be very red, Timesplitters gets a cool new fangame, the Xbox 360 turns 20, Far Cry gets a TV series, Black Ops 7 sales seem down (and with good reason), and the Steam Machine is certainly not going to be like 400 bucks. Last year, Sony launched it's service-based third-person shooter Concord, and it bombed worse than virtually any PlayStation-developed title in history. In fact, it was received so poorly that Sony disappeared it off the market in a matter of two weeks, gave everyone their money back, and snuffed the entire project out of existence while closing the studio that made it. Fast-forward more than a year, though, and Concord has kinda-sorta returned. Tech-savvy enthusiasts have revived the game on private servers, but Sony has already caught wind of it all and are working to nip it in the bud. Do we really need Concord to return? Why does Sony care if it does? And why do smart people work so diligently on things they don't own or have control over? Plus: Black Friday will be exceptionally nice for those looking for PlayStation hardware, accessories, and games, Sony dominates The Game Awards nominations with 19, Bungie prods its playerbase for ideas on how to improve Destiny 2, EA's F1 series is taking a year hiatus, possibly indicating the future of EA Sports, Peacock renews Twisted Metal for a third season, and more. Then: Listener inquiries! Do we keep the physical boxes for our gaming hardware? Would Sony ever revive The Legend of Dragoon? How does one navigate gaming's ragebait culture? As was originally reported, Xbox brought out a Partner Preview in November. It was chockful of everything strange like a co-op alien shop simulator or a thuggish rabbit beating up baddies to more traditional first person horror titles. The catch was that every game we saw throughout was a Play Anywhere title, a program that many of Xbox's players still yearn for the platform to leverage more. All in all, the Dukes enjoyed the show, especially given it dropped ahead of the biggest show of the year in the Game Awards where announcements are typically prioritized. Beyond that, we dive deep into the Valve rumor mill. Half Life 3 is everywhere! Is it finally happening and are the Dukes believers? We get into that plus updated thoughts on the Steam Machine now that we've had some time to digest the triple-whammy Valve hit us with last week. Ex-FBI sniper Christopher Whitcomb survived warlords, black ops, and helicopter crashes. He's here to explain how calculating risk kept him alive. [Pt. 2/2]Full show notes and resources can be found here: jordanharbinger.com/1243What We Discuss with Christopher Whitcomb:Guantanamo Bay exposed the systematic breakdown between official policy and reality. Christopher Whitcomb witnessed 13-year-olds detained 12,000 miles from home while interrogators chanted "Fair, firm and impartial" over prisoners' screams. The same general later oversaw Abu Ghraib's abuses.East Timor combined apocalyptic violence with staggering natural wealth. Indonesia massacred up to 300,000 people during the island's secession, yet oil bubbled from the ground and natural gas ignited hillsides, creating a Wild West economy that attracted contractors seeking manageable chaos.Intelligence work often pays in ways that complicate normal life. Christopher earned contracting money through intelligence agencies that was "hard to spend sometimes," revealing the strange economics of covert operations.Elite operators face profound psychological costs. Christopher's friend warned him to "stop trying to get 14-year-old guys to kill you because you have some death fantasy," highlighting how repeated high-stakes missions create patterns of self-destructive behavior that operators must eventually confront.Recognition of dysfunction is the first step toward meaningful change. By acknowledging his own "insanity" and identity crisis, Christopher demonstrates that even those in extreme professions can develop self-awareness and begin questioning the systems they served. This week delivers one of the biggest news drops of the year across PlayStation, Xbox, and the wider gaming industry. We break down PlayStation's massive Black Friday 2025 deals, including $100 off PS5 consoles (Standard, Digital, and Pro), major discounts on PSVR2, PlayStation Portal, DualSense controllers, Pulse headsets, and more. We also cover the huge PlayStation Plus sale, plus deep cuts on hundreds of digital PS5 and PS4 games—just in time for holiday shopping. But that's only the start. Call of Duty: Black Ops 7 is stumbling hard out of the gate. UK physical sales are down 61% compared to Black Ops 6, Steam concurrency is far below expectations, and Activision appears to be quietly hiding player-count data. We look at what's causing the drop—AI art controversy, campaign reception, franchise fatigue—and what it means for Call of Duty going forward. We also dive into the Game Awards 2025 nominations, where indies dominate the field. With Clair Obscur: Expedition 33, Hades 2, and Hollow Knight: Silksong going head-to-head with Death Stranding 2, Donkey Kong Bananza, and Kingdom Come Deliverance 2, this year's GOTY race might be the most competitive ever. Ex-FBI sniper Christopher Whitcomb survived warlords, black ops, and helicopter crashes. He's here to explain how calculating risk kept him alive. [Pt. 1/2]Full show notes and resources can be found here: jordanharbinger.com/1242What We Discuss with Christopher Whitcomb:Risk calculation becomes second nature in high-stakes environments. Christopher Whitcomb describes constant mental math in life-threatening situations, assessing odds, escape routes, and survival probabilities while meeting warlords or navigating hostile territories. The psychological toll of extreme operations is cumulative and often invisible. Years of black ops, moral ambiguity, and life-threatening missions create layers of trauma that don't announce themselves until something breaks, making the "finding himself again" journey essential.Helicopters are surprisingly resilient war machines. Contrary to Hollywood's explosive fantasies, Vietnam proved these birds can take serious damage and stay airborne. When power does fail, auto-rotation uses blade inertia to control descent, turning disaster into survivable physics.Adrenaline addiction isn't about having too much adrenaline. Christopher Whitcomb explains he wasn't addicted because he didn't have it; his body adapted to extreme situations by no longer producing the chemical response most people experience, revealing how repeated exposure rewires our biology.Understanding the physics of consequence helps you push boundaries without crossing them. Whether rock climbing, tactical operations, or any high-risk endeavor, calculating limits lets you explore your edge safely.
