Jack Della Maddalena is the new welterweight champion and is on his way to establishing an enduring legacy at 170 pounds. All he has to do now is get through the No. 1 Pound-for-Pound fighter in the world in Islam Makhachev and then a murderer's row of contenders. Simple enough, right? Della Maddalena made a statement with a dramatic win over Belal Muhammad at UFC 315, but his run at the top could end before it begins as he's set to face Islam Makhachev at some point in the second half of 2025. Should he get past Makhachev, Della Maddalena has a number of hungry challengers waiting in the wings, including Ian Machado Garry, Sean Brady, Joaquin Buckley, and undefeated fighters Shavkat Rakhmonov and Michael Morales. On this edition of the MMA Fighting Rankings Show, Alexander K. Lee, Mike Heck, and E. It was a crazy weekend in the combat sports world this past weekend with MMA and boxing delivering big moments — such as Eddie Hall's crazy 30-second knockout win at KSW 105, Chris Eubank Jr. and Conor Benn's instant classic, and Ian Machado Garry's gutsy decision win over Carlos Prates in the main event of UFC Kansas City. This weekend, it's another busy time for the combat sports world, and the #UFC is returning to Des Moines, Iowa for a Fight Night card headlined by Cory Sandhagen vs. Deiveson Figueiredo. On an all-new edition of Between the Links, the panel fields questions from the listeners about all of the action in the combat sports world, including Saturday's UFC event, the plethora of boxing events featuring the likes of Ryan Garcia, Devin Haney, and Canelo Alvarez, and what fight stands out most. Additionally, topics may include the UFC's welterweight division, UFC 317 still not having a main event with the card less than two months away, Jon Jones vs. Tom Aspinall, and much more. On today's episode of UFC Unfilfered, Jim and Matt are joined by two victorious bantamweights with very different but equally compelling stories. When Gutierrez hops on, Matt heaps praise on the veteran's poised jiu-jitsu in in this past Saturday's split decision win over John Castaneda in Kansas City. Having fought through a broken hand, Chris outlines a timetable for his subsequent return after banking two straight wins. In between interviews, Jim and Matt debate whether a victory over Carlos Prates puts Ian Machado Garry in prime position for a No. 1 contender fight against Sean Brady. Finally, undefeated Malcolm Wellmaker makes his first-ever appearance on the show fresh off a viral one-punch KO in his UFC debut. Malcolm reflects on the moment he earned a $50k bonus and what it would mean for the Augusta, Georgia native to fight on this June's upcoming Atlanta card headlined by Kamaru Usman vs. Joaquin Buckley.

Ya boi Ian (Machado) Garry commands a lot of attention in MMA. If the most difficult thing a UFC fighter can do in the year of our lord 2025 is make people care about your fights, well, Garry's got that part down. Take Saturday's scrap with Carlos Prates, for example. What otherwise might have been a fairly run-of-the-mill Fight Night main event felt like appointment viewing with Garry and Prates involved. As it turned out, it was pretty much a cakewalk for Garry … except those last five minutes. Plus, Anthony Smith had the classiest retirement possible when you're bathed in your own blood and flipping off some rando in the crowd. Learn more about your ad choices. Visit megaphone.fm/adchoices

In this episode of Bring the Pain, I review my articles from the weekend and how we did on the Fight Club of Pain. I talked about my picks for the week as well as what happened in some of the fights that had me screaming at the T.V. After that, I reviewed the bets from the Five-tastic Picks article and the DFS lineups that I put in the Subs-Only Discord, which cashed, giving us some extra money to start the week with. I thought UFC Kansas City was great, and the main event between Ian Machado-Garry vs. Carlos Prates definitely delivered for me. Even though I had Prates winning, I still loved watching him and Garry show why this may not be the time they met. Stay tuned for next Saturday because I will be out of town at a tournament, so you'll need to keep your eyes peeled for the next Fight Club show and my article. Have a great day, everyone, and may the fights be with you.
Ian Machado Garry showed once again he can hang with anyone in the welterweight division, gutting out a five-round win over the white hot Carlos Prates in Saturday's UFC Kansas City main event. But should fans be concerned about Prates nearly putting Garry down in the fifth? Does Garry need to fight again to cement a title opportunity? On an all-new edition of On To the Next One, MMA Fighting's Mike Heck and Alexander K. Lee discuss what's next for Garry as he plans a trip to Montreal to be the backup for Belal Muhammad's welterweight championship defense against Jack Della Maddalena at UFC 315. Additionally, future matchups are discussed for Zhang Mingyang after he sent Anthony Smith into a bloody retirement, featherweight dark horse contender David Onama, Randy Brown following his Knockout of the Year-candidate against Nicolas Dalby, plus middleweights Abus Magomedov, Ikram Aliskerov, and more.
