Jim Norton and Matt Serra are joined by two fighters preparing for next weekend's Noche UFC card in Glendale, Arizona.First, 15th-ranked featherweight Jose Miguel Delgado joins the show after finding out he'll be stepping in for Yair Rodriguez to face Jean Silva in the Noche UFC main event. Having fully embraced his role as the underdog in this short-notice opportunity, the 28-year-old Arizona native out of MMA Lab identifies the ways his team has been able to replicate Silva's fighting style and in-Octagon antics.Between interviews, Jim and Matt react to Song Yadong's massive knockout win over Umar Nurmagomedov at UFC Shanghai — from the perfectly timed right hand that punished Umar's level change to the controversial reaction from Nurmagomedov's corner in the immediate aftermath. Then, 13th-ranked flyweight Tim Elliott stops by ahead of his featured prelim matchup against Edgar Chairez at Noche UFC. Elliott reflects on his wrestling roots behind his trademark “awkward” style, the longevity that still has him ranked in the Top 15 at 39 years old, and how his approach to accepting fights have put him in a position to accumulate UFC flyweight records that place him alongside (and in some categories ahead of) Demetrious Johnson. After the second interview, Jim and Matt go deeper on their other biggest UFC Shanghai takeaways before wrapping up with a look ahead to tomorrow's DWCS card.See Privacy Policy at https://art19.com/privacy and California Privacy Notice at https://art19.com/privacy#do-not-sell-my-info.
The year of the upset keeps rolling on. On Saturday, Song Yadong added another to the long list of epic upsets in 2026 when he brutally knocked out Umar Nurmagomedov in the main event of UFC Shanghai. A 6-to-1 favorite heading into the fight, the loss is devastating for Nurmagomedov, but transformational for Song, who is now right near the top of the list when it comes to the next bantamweight title shot. Following Saturday's Fight Night, MMA Fighting's Jed Meshew and Alexander K. Lee react to Song's epic upset win and what it means for both men moving forward. Additionally, Jed and AK discuss the post-fight collision between Song and Usman Nurmagomedov, chat about Denise Gomes' big win over Yan Xiaonan in the co-main event, talk about the rest of the event, answer viewer questions, and more. Umar Nurmagomedov is still in the bantamweight mix, but it feels like he's lost some of his luster. On Saturday, Nurmagomedov looks to make it three in a row since losing his bantamweight title shot to Merab Dvalishvili, taking on Song Yadong in the main event of UFC Shanghai. It's an opportunity for Nurmagomedov to earn a title shot and perhaps reclaim some of the aura that seems to have disappeared over the past year, but will he make a statement, or will Nurmagomedov continue to underwhelm? On the latest episode of No Bets Barred, host Jed Meshew flies solo as he dives into the full UFC Shanghai card. Topics discussed include whether or not Nurmagomedov will get his groove back, if Denise Gomes can keep her upset streak rolling, Kai Asakura's move to bantamweight, a pair of parlays, the latest on The Climb, and more. Is Umar Nurmagomedov feeling the pressure of carrying one of the biggest names in MMA? On this episode of Weighing In, Josh Thomson and the crew dive into the expectations surrounding Umar Nurmagomedov as he continues his pursuit of UFC gold. The Nurmagomedov name carries enormous weight in MMA. Khabib established himself as one of the greatest fighters ever, while Umar's brother Usman has also become a champion-level fighter. Umar has had to build his own legacy while constantly being compared to the family members who came before him. Umar has already reached the UFC title picture, but after falling short against Merab Dvalishvili, the road back to championship gold comes with even more pressure. Is Umar trying to live up to the Nurmagomedov name—or is the pressure of the family legacy actually making his journey harder? Josh breaks down Umar's career, his expectations, his championship potential and what it takes to step out of the shadow of Khabib and the Nurmagomedov legacy.

Master Marc Zirogiannis breaks down his coverage of the July 31, 2026 PFL MMA event and the merger of PFL and Most Valuable Promotions. UBS Arena played host to an action-packed night of mixed martial arts as PFL New York Presented by Arkham lit up the Big Apple with unforgettable performances and thrilling finishes. The event comes on the heels of yesterday's landmark merger announcement between MVP and the PFL. MVP Co-Founders, Jake Paul and Nakisa Bidaria, joined Chief Executive Officer John Martin cageside for the event which created the new platform under the MVP banner. Several global combat sports stars were in attendance to witness this incredible night of action including Khabib Nurmagomedov, Justin Gaethje, Islam Machachev, Kamaru Usman, Royce Gracie and PFL Interim World Champion Johnny Eblen. In the main event, #C-Usman Nurmagomedov (22-0, 1NC) continued his reign of dominance with a first round TKO of previously-undefeated challenger #3-Archie “King” Colgan (13-1) to retain the PFL Lightweight World Championship. Nurmagomedov put his striking arsenal on full display as he dropped Colgan with a well-placed head kick followed by a left hook. Colgan survived momentarily, but the champ put the challenger away with a pair of brutal uppercuts and ground and pound, all in the opening round. Hosted by Simplecast, an AdsWizz company. UFC 324 was ravaged by injury before it ever got off the ground. A few weeks out, we lost Kayla Harrison vs. Amanda Nunes. On weigh-in day, after successfully making weight, Cameron Smotherman stepped off the scale, took a few steps and then faceplanted, busting open his chin which ended up requiring stitches. This morning, just hours before the event's kickoff, we lost yet another bout, this time due to suspicious betting activity which later revealed Alexander Hernandez was injured, so his bout vs. Michael Johnson was canceled. Rocky start to a billion-dollar-per-year deal. The card itself was pretty good, with the prelims seeing four straight finishes. Considering that the bonuses have doubled now, and there's added incentive ($25K bonus for all finishes that didn't already earn a standard bonus) to get a finish, perhaps a fire has been lit under our modern day gladiators. And may I just say that the old guys really do find some magical reserves because Nikita Krylov certainly did.The rest of the fights, save one, went the distance, with Silva-Namajunas being closer than I thought it would be. Nurmagomedov predictably routed Figueiredo, as O'Malley did with Song Yadong. The lone finish was Cortes-Acosta sending Derrick Lewis to the land of banana peels and loss. Gaethje-Pimblett was an absolute banger—not exactly a classic, mainly because there was an abundance of chicanery with eye-pokes, low blows and just wild striking, but still very good. Paddy has no quit in him and Justin can still crack. It was very clear that the significant strikes were very different for these gents, with Gaethje's being far more impactful. Oh yeah, some brave person put $1.3M on Paddy to win, so there's that. SleepyJ and Mean Gene talk UFC 324 betting. UFC 324 marks the promotion's return after a six week hiatus, with the first event airing on Paramount Plus from T Mobile Arena in Las Vegas. SleepyJ and Mean Gene break down the card with a betting focused lens, highlighting the platform shift, earlier start times, and a main card built around recognizable names and divisional stakes. The headliner features Justin Gaethje against Patti Pimlett, a matchup framed as a defining test for Pimlett and a potential final run moment for Gaethje. Both hosts lean toward Pimlett, citing his grappling strength, confidence, and recent performance, with expectations that the fight ends inside the distance by submission or stoppage. They note Gaethje's power and durability but question his long term resilience after years of high damage bouts and recent retirement talk. The co main event pits Sean O Malley against Song Yidong following the cancellation of the originally planned Kayla Harrison and Amanda Nunez fight. O Malley is viewed as a motivated contender looking to re enter the title picture, with his striking precision, reach, and movement expected to exploit Song's defensive openings. Both analysts believe the betting line undervalues O Malley and anticipate either a knockout or a decisive performance that positions him for another championship opportunity. On the rest of the main card, Natalia Silva is favored heavily over Rose Namajunas, with volume, pace, and trajectory cited as key factors. Silva is described as a future title challenger, while Namajunas is respected for her résumé but seen as struggling against the division's emerging elite. The heavyweight bout between Waldo Cortez Acosta and Derrick Lewis draws divided opinions, with SleepyJ preferring a fight ending inside the distance while Mean Gene takes a plus money shot on Lewis, emphasizing heavyweight volatility and knockout power. The prelim headliner features Umar Nurmagomedov against Davidson Figueredo, where Nurmagomedov is expected to make a statement following a recent loss, with both hosts favoring a finish rather than a decision. Overall, UFC 324 is presented as a strong return card, blending divisional clarity, betting value, and potential star building moments as the UFC enters a new broadcast era.
