UFC Vegas 114 delivered a major statement performance from Kevin Vallejos, who knocked out Josh Emmett in the main event and may now be entering the elite tier of the featherweight division. In this episode, I break down Vallejos' performance and discuss what the win means for his future in a stacked 145-pound division.I also recap Gillian Robertson's victory over Amanda Lemos that pushes her into the strawweight top five, and Charles Johnson's win over Bruno Silva to hold his place in the flyweight rankings.- -Be sure to follow the show on all platforms to stay updated on future episodes and announcements:Subscribe to the Verbal Sparring YouTube channel HEREFollow the show on InstagramFollow the show on TikTokFollow the show on X- -Subscribe to the Battling Fore Bogey YouTube channel HEREFollow Battling Fore Bogey on InstagramFollow Battling Fore Bogey on TikTokFollow Battling Fore Bogey on Twitter- -Thanks for listening!
Kevin Vallejos is on a roll. The rising featherweight star made short work of respected veteran Josh Emmett in Saturday's UFC Vegas 114 main event, and the sky looks to be the limit for Vallejos going forward. A number of notable names make sense for him now, what's the best option for the 24-year-old super prospect? On an all-new edition of On To the Next One, MMA Fighting's Mike Heck and Alexander K. Lee discuss what could be next for Vallejos after a career-best performance. Additionally, we determine whether Gillian Robertson has done enough to secure a strawweight title shot after outworking Amanda Lemos, plus future matchups are discussed for budding featherweight talents Jose Miguel Delgado and Marwan Rahiki, the mercurial Ion Cutelaba, the always game Charles Johnson, and more. All that and a slew of fantastic matchmaking suggestions from the listeners. Follow Mike Heck: @MikeHeck_JR Follow Alexander K. This episode of the I Am Dad Podcast is a powerful and necessary conversation about love, loss, and responsibility. Host Kenneth Braswell welcomes Charles Johnson, founder and CEO of 4Kira4Moms, for an unflinching discussion about fatherhood in the face of tragedy and purpose born from grief. Charles shares his deeply personal daddy story, including the loss of his wife Kira just days after the birth of their second son due to preventable medical failures. What followed was not only heartbreak, but a reckoning—one that exposed systemic bias in maternal healthcare and propelled Charles into national advocacy to ensure no family experiences what his did. Together, Braswell and Johnson examine how racism, delayed care, and dismissal of Black women's pain continue to drive maternal mortality in the United States. The conversation expands into the critical role fathers play—not only in parenting, but in advocating for their partners, navigating healthcare systems, and reshaping narratives around family, partnership, and accountability. This episode also explores the intersection of fatherhood and maternal health, why empowering dads improves outcomes for mothers and babies, and how partnership—not performative allyship—is required to create real change. This is not just a story about loss. It is a call to action for fathers, families, policymakers, and communities to show up, speak up, and do better.

UFC 324 was ravaged by injury before it ever got off the ground. A few weeks out, we lost Kayla Harrison vs. Amanda Nunes. On weigh-in day, after successfully making weight, Cameron Smotherman stepped off the scale, took a few steps and then faceplanted, busting open his chin which ended up requiring stitches. This morning, just hours before the event's kickoff, we lost yet another bout, this time due to suspicious betting activity which later revealed Alexander Hernandez was injured, so his bout vs. Michael Johnson was canceled. Rocky start to a billion-dollar-per-year deal. The card itself was pretty good, with the prelims seeing four straight finishes. Considering that the bonuses have doubled now, and there's added incentive ($25K bonus for all finishes that didn't already earn a standard bonus) to get a finish, perhaps a fire has been lit under our modern day gladiators. And may I just say that the old guys really do find some magical reserves because Nikita Krylov certainly did.The rest of the fights, save one, went the distance, with Silva-Namajunas being closer than I thought it would be. Nurmagomedov predictably routed Figueiredo, as O'Malley did with Song Yadong. The lone finish was Cortes-Acosta sending Derrick Lewis to the land of banana peels and loss. Gaethje-Pimblett was an absolute banger—not exactly a classic, mainly because there was an abundance of chicanery with eye-pokes, low blows and just wild striking, but still very good. Paddy has no quit in him and Justin can still crack. It was very clear that the significant strikes were very different for these gents, with Gaethje's being far more impactful. Oh yeah, some brave person put $1.3M on Paddy to win, so there's that. Now that we've reviewed the highlights, let's check out the results and bonuses while we're here.MMA Vivisection & 6th Round is a reader-supported publication. The crew is back and covering everything from government shutdown rumors to backlash about the bump serum. Damo gives his two-week review of Charles Johnson's “The Bump Serum,” and the team unveils their “Don't Come to the All Hands” lists. The hosts catch up on life since the last episode and recognize Veterans Day before diving into the latest news on USS Nimitz and the questions surrounding extended deployments—including whether Sailors should get liberty back after standing holiday duty. They discuss the sudden retirement of another 3-Star General, the rumor that 168 commissaries may be closing, and Damo introduces a new segment: “Win for the Week.” The guys also react to the passing of former Vice President Dick Cheney, debate whether MCPON Honea received his due flowers, and unpack retired FLTCM Paul Kingsbury's launch of the National Chief Petty Officer Association. Other topics include counseling Sailors over social media conduct, Damon's Hero of the Week—Staff Sergeant Jared C. Monti, Aaron's perspective on Warrior Ethos, and celebrating five years of Permission to Speak Freely. Damo shows love for Damon and Aaron's picks in the No Limit vs. Cash Money Verzuz, reflects on a couple of movies he watched, and reacts to someone asking whether he uses ChatGPT. The topics and more are covered in this episode. Do you have a “Do Better” that you want us to review on a future episode? Matthew 6:19-24; Charles Johnson, Senior Pastor at RMC; the 12th sermon in the series on the Sermon on the Mount, "He Sat and Taught."
This episode starts with the epitome of locker room talk, as Damo questions whether his latest decision at the gym means he's getting old. Damon recaps his experience listening to Episode 163, and the guys catch up on their weeks. Admiral Alvin Holsey recently announced his retirement in a story that swept across military social media circles. A recent dispute between Marc Lamont Hill and Queenzflip of the Joe Budden Podcast leads to a conversation about who “should” and “shouldn't” be in certain spaces. Damo responds to a comment regarding understanding our roles as leaders, which morphs into a discussion about emotional intelligence and old-school terms that are now considered offensive. The guys say their last goodbyes to R&B pioneer and legend D'Angelo. Aaron highlights Sergeant Major Janina Simmons as our Hero of the Week, and Damon reviews the movie One Battle After Another. The furlough is still underway—when will it end, and how is it affecting the working-class citizen? Charles Johnson, creator of The Bump Serum, stops by to talk about pseudofolliculitis barbae (PFB), how smarter grooming solutions can keep Sailors in regs without wrecking their skin, and why his product may be the solution we've been missing. Later in the episode, the guys discuss how to decompress when you're at a demanding command. No Limit vs. Cash Money Records in a Verzuz—who you got? Damon and Aaron exchange their Picks of the Week, and the guys share their Do Better topics for the week, with Damon remembering Kyren Lacy. These and more topics are discussed in this episode. Distributed manufacturing allows goods to be produced closer to where they're needed — but enabling that future requires a complete rethink of infrastructure, systems, and workforce development. In this episode of The TechEd Podcast, Dr. Charles Johnson-Bey joins host Matt Kirchner for a deep dive into Engineering the Future of Distributed Manufacturing — the new national report from the Engineering Research Visioning Alliance (ERVA). Charles, a former professor and recently retired Senior Vice President at Booz Allen Hamilton, brings decades of experience in defense, systems engineering, and academia to this conversation.Together, they break down ERVA's five priority areas for enabling distributed manufacturing: modular and reconfigurable infrastructure, digital design tools, edge-to-cloud data systems, workforce education, and new performance metrics. Charles also shares how these priorities came from input across industry, academia, and government — and how they'll guide research, funding, and education in the years ahead.Listen to learn: What distributed manufacturing actually looks like in practice — and why it matters nowWhy “digital twins + AI” are critical for linking design, production, and data-driven decision-makingThe essential role of public infrastructure in enabling connectivity and access for all communitiesWhy proximity to advanced tools like a digital twin or a cyber-physical testbed is essential for scaling distributed manufacturing3 Big Takeaways from this Episode:1. Distributed manufacturing is a modular approach to resilient, tech-enabled production. Charles defines distributed manufacturing as a system where production assets can be easily moved, reconfigured, and localized closer to the point of need. He describes how smaller, agile, and digitally connected systems—like reconfigurable machines and regional testbeds—enable manufacturing to respond to disruptions, like the ones exposed during COVID-19.2. The workforce of the future needs digital fluency—and systems thinking. Students must be prepared not only to operate new technologies, but to understand how those technologies interact within broader systems. Charles highlights the importance of human-machine teaming, digital twins, and cyber-physical testbeds, and calls for education that helps learners “fall in love with the rigor” of complex technical work.3. America's manufacturing strategy must include small and mid-sized firms. Charles points out that most manufacturers in the U.S. are small to mid-sized, yet lack access to advanced infrastructure and scalable tools. He argues that national strategies must focus on democratizing technology—making AI, automation, and data systems affordable and available to all levels of the manufacturing sector.Resources in this Episode:Read the ERVA Report: Engineering the Future of Distributed ManufacturingLearn more about ERVAFollow Charles on LinkedInVisit the episode page for more!We want to hear from you!
