UFC Shanghai is in the books, and while some things certainly happened that were newsworthy, the two biggest storylines came from the final two fights, including Brian Ortega's rough 48 hour stretch from his chaotic weigh in, to his performance against Aljamain Sterling in a lopsided five-round loss. Where does "T-City" go next, and could it be to a promotion outside of the UFC? On an all-new edition of Between the Links, the panel discusses the fallout from the UFC's most recent Fight Night event, what happens with Ortega next, what Sterling gains from the biggest win of his featherweight run, and Johnny Walker stopping Mingyang Zhang in the main event. Additionally, topics may include Saturday's Misfits Boxing 22 event, which features Darren Till vs. Luke Rockhold, Tony Ferguson vs. Salt Papi, and Dillon Danis in an MMA fight, the Raja Jackson — the son of Rampage Jackson — incident in the pro wrestling world, and much more. The UFC's middleweight division is in a fascinating place right now. Khamzat Chimaev is the brand new middleweight champion after dominating Dricus du Plessis at UFC 319, which has shaken up the MMA Fighting pound-for-pound rankings. With four contenders vying for the chance to face Chimaev in his first title defense, who has the best chance to get it done? On an all-new edition of the MMA Fighting Rankings Show, MMA Fighting's Mike Heck and Jed Meshew step in for Alexander K. Lee in the hosting chair to discuss all of the changes going on in the rankings since we last spoke — including the madness at middleweight, Chimaev's rise and du Plessis' fall down the pound-for-pound rankings, and ranking who has the best shot to beat Chimaev in Nassourdine Imavov, Caio Borralho, Reinier de Riddder, and Anthony Hernandez. Additionally, they discuss where Brian Ortega now goes after a terrible week at UFC Shanghai, changes in the featherweight rankings, and who could make a low-key leap up the rankings by the end of the year. On today's UFC Unfiltered, Matt Serra and Jim Norton welcome middleweight veteran Brad Tavares and flyweight contender Charles Johnson. Two weeks out from UFC Paris, Tavares explains how he's keeping his 37-year-old body primed to break his tie with Michael Bisping for the most middleweight wins in UFC history. Fresh off a $50K bonus knockout in Shanghai, Johnson recaps his win over Lone'er Kavanagh, the story behind his “skullet” haircut, and the decision to speak directly to Chinese fans in their own language during his Octagon interview. Plus, Jim and Matt share their takeaways from UFC Shanghai — including celebrating Aljamain Sterling's co-main event victory.See Privacy Policy at https://art19.com/privacy and California Privacy Notice at https://art19.com/privacy#do-not-sell-my-info.

In this episode of Bring the Pain, I reviewed UFC Shanghai, which featured Walker vs. Zhang in the main event. I talked about the Fight Club of Pain and how we nailed more big bets and parlays this week in which we slayed the sportsbooks while sleeping. After that, I talked about the break this week before coming back on Thursday for UFC Paris, which has Imavov vs. Borrahlo, as the main event. That also will be the opening game for the NFL, so expect a Showdown Slate lineup for Thursday night football every single week. That's how we do it at Dr. Roto. Have a great day, everyone, and may the fights be with you.
The gang comes together to discuss all the results from UFC Shanghai. They talk about Johnny Walker's upset victory in the main event and Aljo's win over what's left of T-City in the co-main. The gang also talks about the distrubing incident at the Knokx Pro' event with Quinton Jackson's son. They then give their top 5 favorite memories from their time in school. All that and another edition of "Stuff We Like."
Brendan Schaub discusses the Raja Jackson fiasco where he horrifically beat down a pro wrestler, UFC Shanghai results including Aljamain Sterling decisively winning vs Brian Ortega and Ortega noticeably losing a step with his fighting, Aljamain's elbow being filled with fluid after his spinning elbow and Brendan relating to it with his elbow story, Bryan Battle missing weight twice in a row, getting cut but the UFC and then joining Dirty Boxing, BRĒZ - Ready to experience the future of drinking? Luke Thomas and Brian Campbell are live in the studio to break down the biggest news coming out of UFC Shanghai. First up, Johnny Walker rallied to stop Zhang Mingyang in the light heavyweight main event. At 33, did Walker show you any legitimate signs that the best run of his career could be right around the corner? The UFC Shanghai co-main featured Aljamain Sterling shutting out Brian Ortega. With a 2-1 record since moving up to 145 pounds, does Sterling have any leverage at all to ask for a title shot following this performance? In the UFC Shanghai undercard, Sergei Pavlovich outpointed Waldo Cortes-Acosta to keep pace near the top of the heavyweight rankings. Given the extreme lack of depth in the division, is there still one more run to a UFC title shot in the card for Pavlovich moving forward?See omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.

UFC Shanghai goes down in the early morning hours on Saturday, and during Thursday night's weigh-ins, Brian Ortega appeared to be in rough shape ahead of his pivotal matchup with former bantamweight champ Aljamain Sterling. While reports stated the fight was off, it will indeed take place at a catchweight of 153 pounds, despite Ortega looking horrible during his final staredown with Sterling. Should this fight go on? Ahead of this weekend's UFC Fight Night event, MMA Fighting's Jed Meshew and Mike Heck preview the card, react to Ortega's weigh-in drama, and discuss the fight with Sterling. Additionally, they talk the light heavyweight main event between Zhang Mingyang and Johnny Walker, the stakes for the division that needs as much excitement as possible, the heavyweight featured bout between Sergei Pavlovich and Waldo Cortes-Acosta, and much more. On a special Thursday edition of The Craic, Petesy Carroll tackles the week's biggest stories alongside Chuck Mindenhall and Ben Fowlkes. They kick things off by debating whether Khamzat Chimaev's recent middleweight title victory over Dricus Du Plessis has fueled the perception that he's becoming a boring fighter (2:15). Alongside Khamzat Chimaev in the main event, UFC 319 was also set to feature Bryan Battle vs. Nursulton Ruziboev. But Battle's second consecutive weight miss led to the fight's cancellation and his release from the promotion. The trio discuss what his cut says about how the UFC handles its roster (21:28). Another weight class heating up is the UFC welterweight division. Sean Brady is calling out Ian Garry, while Garry is taking aim at Leon Edwards. The crew lay out how they'd match up the top of the division (27:04).Next, the guys react to the controversial announcement of Jake Paul vs. Gervonta Davis as the latest Netflix boxing bout (39:10).Looking ahead to the weekend's fights, the chaps preview the under-the-radar UFC Shanghai card, including the co-main event standout, Brian Ortega vs. Aljamain Sterling (53:59).To close the show, Petesy and company size up this weekend's PFL card, headlined by Fabian Edwards vs. Dalton Rosta, whose trash talk has been going viral online (01:05:47).

Matt Serra and Jim Norton welcome top middleweight contenders Anthony Hernandez and Caio Borralho to discuss the 185-pound title picture after Khamzat Chimaev's win. Hernandez recaps his submission victory over Roman Dolidze, previews his recently announced UFC Vancouver bout vs. Reinier de Ridder, and shares a laugh with Matt about their mutual appreciation for certain… ‘plant-based' recovery methods. As someone also there in Chicago for Chimaev's win, Borralho assesses his place in the title queue and what it might take from him in September's UFC Paris headliner against Nassourdine Imavov to seal his place as Khamzat's rightful challenger. Plus, Matt shares his excitement to wake up early for UFC Shanghai's sneakily action-packed card — including a high-stakes grappler's delight set between Brian Ortega and Serra-Longo's own Aljamain Sterling.See Privacy Policy at https://art19.com/privacy and California Privacy Notice at https://art19.com/privacy#do-not-sell-my-info.
