Get ready for a super fun chat with the one and only Pet Symmetry! Lizzie sits down with Evan, Marcus, and Eric to talk all about their latest album "Big Symmetry," the surprisingly deep world of "wife guy" culture, sticking to their DIY roots, and how their sound has evolved into a big rock machine. Plus, they dive into balancing multiple bands and share details on their upcoming tour dates.
Today on the podcast we welcome Elise Okusami from Oceanator. She is signed to Polyvinyl Records and currently on a run of dates with Braid and going to rock with Into It Over It as well. Elise is an amazing musician and recently released Nothing's Ever Fine back in 2022 and has a new single called "Part Time." The Progress were an indie rock band from Cherry Hill, NJ and existed from 2001 to 2008. They were four grade school friends who learned how to play music (and their instruments) together. In their lifespan, they wrote two EP's and a LP. They spent the majority of their time as a band winning the hearts of girls in their 20's and getting booked on metal shows that didn't make any sense playing. Live and learn. Their singer Evan went on to start his own project Into It. Over It. while living in Chicago, IL. He also plays in Their / They're / There and Pet Symmetry. There's a funny story on how this interview happened but you'll have to listen to hear what that was. So I got Evan on the Skype and this is what we chat about: His Patreon for his record label Finding The NJPP archive Releasing Merit on vinyl Lobster Records Negative Progression Records Starting Into It. Over It. Solo Currently working for reverb.com The pee story And a ton more Check out his label Storm Chaser's patreon by clicking here. This week's non paid shot out is for my buddy Chris Vaglio who is a member of the NJPP Facebook group and also played in Situation at 1200. Are you ready for a music showdown like no other? Today on the podcast we welcome back for the 3rd time, Evan Weiss. Evan and I have spoken two other times, episode 23 (2013) and episode 66 (2016). Today we talk about his new projects, his favorite emo albums of all time, and we look back at the emo revival era with a critical eye. We only had an hour with this busy man, so strap in for a quick one. I'm sure he'll be back sooner than later.https://www.intoitoverit.com/https://www.patreon.com/stormchasersltd
Spinning Out (another music podcast) We talk to artists about their favorite albums and go on wild tangents. Today we're talking with my good friend Paul Dechichio of Tor Johnson Records. We talked about Hum's 1995 album, "You'd Prefer an Astronaut." We also talk about Tor Johnson's 20th anniversary & doing something for the love of it and not trying to "keep up with the Joneses," as they say. Tor Johnson is celebrating the anniversary by releasing a split 7" every month for the whole year. Bands like The Body, Into It Over It, Slingshot Dakota, Pohgoh, Thou and so many others are involved. The subscription series sold out, but you can still get copies from the bands as they get released and from select record stores. On this episode we welcome Evan Weiss and Josh Sparks from Into It. Over it. Recently Evan and Josh were in NYC and we had some time to catch up before their show. We touched on recording in Vermont, the independent scene, the last time we all head walked and what’s next for the band. It was fantastic to spend time with Evan and Josh. Be sure to check out all of his music and without fail they’re out on the road in a town near you.Support the show (https://www.patreon.com/washedupemo)
Update for the week of January 16, 2015. Hardcore/Punk news and music.
Evan Weiss from Into It. Over It. took time out from his shows in the NYC area recently to sit down with me to chat about the old days. We literally were on a bed chatting with the rain falling in Brooklyn. Can't script a better time for an emo podcast. Thanks for listening!Support the show (https://www.patreon.com/washedupemo)
