Dowsing is a fascinating form of divination since it is often used to find water, minerals, or even lost items. While other forms of divination like tarot or botanomancy seek to provide information, here the information is often of a tangible sort. Rather than telling a fortune, or providing a prophetic dream that must be interpreted, dowsing appears to relate information about the presence of something the dowser is looking for. Given dowsing can be used to find a whole range of things, this article will focus on the use of dowsing to locate water. After all, this comprises much of the discussion about dowsing within folklore. This form of dowsing also enjoyed other names, including water witching, well witching, water divining, or rhabdomancy. While dowsing can also be performed using a pendulum, sometimes held over a map when dowsing for water, this article will also focus on the use of rods, since this appears more frequently in folklore. In this episode we continue on with some bigfoot fun from last weeks episode. We talk about some stories we found and dive into bigfoots love of bunt cake. Its all in fun as we do love the big guy. Bigfoot, the legendary cryptid, is usually depicted as a mysterious, elusive creature hiding in the forests, but there's definitely a humorous side to him too! Here are a few playful ideas about Bigfoot that bring out his funny side:     The World's Shiest Superstar: Bigfoot could easily be the most famous creature no one has ever truly met. He's like the introvert of the cryptid world—always leaving blurry photos and questionable footprints but never sticking around for the autograph!     Master of Hide-and-Seek: Bigfoot's entire existence could just be one long game of hide-and-seek. Imagine him seeing a group of campers approaching and thinking, "Oh no, they're coming! Time to blend into the trees and pretend I'm a log again." He might just be the champion of forest hide-and-seek, winning every time without even trying.     Clumsy Fashion Icon: Bigfoot is often described as a big, hairy, oversized creature. What if he's just trying to keep up with the latest trends? Imagine him walking into a forest and suddenly tripping over a rock in his oversized, shaggy outfit. "You're supposed to be a creature of grace!" he'd mutter, adjusting his mossy beard.     Giant Prankster: Maybe Bigfoot isn't avoiding people so much as pulling pranks. He might leave a huge set of footprints, only to later walk in circles just to confuse the humans who try to follow him. Or, maybe he occasionally runs past a campsite just to hear the scream of a surprised camper before vanishing into the trees. "Classic Bigfoot," he thinks, chuckling to himself.     Bigfoot's Love for Nature's Selfies: The myth of Bigfoot might just be the result of him loving selfies. Maybe he's just out there in the wild snapping photos of himself against a scenic backdrop. The blurry images? Probably just a case of him not quite getting the whole "focus the camera" thing. "I swear, this time it looked great!" he'd say after taking a blurry shot of himself in front of a waterfall.     Bigfoot's Fitness Routine: Everyone talks about how Bigfoot must be some kind of super-athlete—running through the woods, avoiding human sight. Recently I had a situation in my personal life that really threw me. It side-swiped me, surprised me, and to say it challenged me would me a huge understatement. It SHOOK me. And when the stakes felt so incredibly high to hear from my intuition about what to do, I was MASSIVELY comforted and helped by using my intuitive tools: 1) to get clear yes/no answers from my intuition, and 2) to get specific guidance from oracle cards about specific questions I had that needed more than a yes/no response Intuitive tools, also sometimes called divination tools, have been used in every culture and belief system throughout all of history (including in Christianity and the Bible, in case that concerns you. We'll talk more about that in our gathering too!) They are simply instruments or methods used to gain insight, guidance, or knowledge from your Intuition and/or from more-than-human wisdom (e.g. God/the divine, spirit guides, ancestors, the subconscious mind, your higher self. Whatever word you use for it, they help you connect with that deeper knowing!) ALL of us, no matter how “evolved” we may be, get BLOCKED from our Intuition from time to time. I find it's usually related to Fear, and our protective parts take over, and our mind starts looping us in fearful and controlling thoughts. These tools help break up those blockages and reconnect us back to the voice of Love. Artist Portrait by Alexander Bedder Anthony Cudahy (b.1989, Fort Myers, Florida, US) received a BFA from Pratt Institute, NY in 2011 and completed an MFA at Hunter College, NY in 2020. He lives and works in Brooklyn, NY. Cudahy is a figurative painter whose tender scenes reveal the nuanced complexities of life. In masterful compositions he creates a world for unspoken stories, intimate moments and romantic gestures. Personal and poetic, Cudahy's figures coalesce with the atmosphere of their environments in fluid brushstrokes. At once dark and luminous, Cudahy's paintings often have a phosphorescent quality to them, as though they are lit from within. For the artist, how the paint is handled has its own narrative potential - the thick textures, light airy space, patterning and delicate marks are all active in the story he is creating. Alongside painting, Cudahy makes incredibly detailed colored pencil drawings, in an all-consuming process of mark making. Unlike his paintings which transform throughout the making, the challenging medium calls for the compositions to be decided beforehand. Cudahy devotedly collects images. His collection draws upon film stills, snapshots of his partner, ancient sites, hagiographic icons and the photography of his great uncle, Kenny Gardner (which his husband, Ian Lewandowski has been compiling). Cudahy returns to his collected images time and time again, for they have a potent quality, which sparks ideas and concepts for the works.
