The Ataris were formed in 1996 in Anderson, Indiana. The Ataris originally began as the home demo-recording project of lead singer guitarist Kristopher Roe and guitarist Jasin Thomason. The group were discovered a year later by Vandals founder Joe Escalante after songwriter Kristopher Roe met him at a concert. Impressed by his demo tape, Escalante asked Roe to put together a full band and record for his label, Kung-Fu Records. Roe then picked up and moved to California in search of bandmates. (Thomason decided to stay in Indiana), and eventually added guitarist Marco Peña, bassist Mike Davenport, and former Lagwagon drummer Derrick Plourde. Plourde was later replaced by new drummer Chris Knapp.  We catch up with founder Kristopher Roe in this fun episode! website www.TheAtarisBand.com social media www.Instagram.com/theataris www.Facebook.com/TheAtaris  About Music Matters with Darrell Craig Harris The Music Matters Podcast is hosted by Darrell Craig Harris, a globally published music journalist, professional musician, and Getty Images photographer. Mike's first job ever was at a bowling alley & golf range fun place where he had ot be at work picking up golf balls at 6AM. Some will say that's not a hard feat, but none can deny the powerful songwriting and auspicious lyrics of Dylan. What's this InObscuria thing? We're a podcast that exhumes obscure Rock n' Punk n' Metal and puts them in one of 3 categories: the Lost, the Forgotten, or the Should Have Beens. Andrew For America plays an assortment of clips illustrating that China has been sending many military aged men to our borders in hopes of (allegedly) becoming US citizens and/or serving in our military. Andrew raises some concerns about this fact, and plays clips from reporters on the ground at the border, Clayton Morris, and Bret Weinstein and Dr. Phil on the Joe Rogan podcast. The song selections for this episode begin with Andrew playing the song "Making Friends" by the band Lagwagon, followed by the band Much The Same's cover of the same song! It is with great sadness that we announce the departure of John Scott from these hallowed imaginary talk show walls. John was the best of us in every sense of humanity. He never let us down and he always had Scott's Plan ready to go in the chamber. We will miss him dearly. Scott will absolutely have a standing order on this show along with our other former show pal, Matt. The good news though is Luke's baby is out in the world now, so we can lock in on doing this show consistently. Even though we could have done this show consistently before the baby arrived. All past is prologue. Now is the time for us to focus in on 2023 to be there for you as this world continues to depreciate one day at a time with another shooting or train derailment right around the corner. We have SO MUCH to talk about that we didn't even get to all of it in this episode. Please keep your emails coming to let us know if you are down with Govier & Luke as a twosome. There will be plenty of guests hosts rotating in as well, but the current show is now made up of only these two old friends who have known each other since 1995. They love doing this show. Now that the dust has settled, expect consistency going forward. Mourn the loss of Scott, but please stick with us. We're all going to need each other more than ever this year. The fellas close the show in tribute to the friend they made in Scott with Lagwagon's Making Friends. We love you all! Email this talk show at isitsafepod@gmail.com

Scott is house hunting, but the Zillow filters are limiting him and Steph. Damar Hamlin will be a part of the festivities when the Bills welcomes the Bengals into Buffalo Sunday. Unfortunately, Mike says Joe Burrow will spoil the party. American Beauty is a boomer's whiny manifesto. Did you know that? Former show host Matt met up with Scotty to drink cheap shit in a fancy place. Or was it the other way around? Boilermakers were had by all. We miss you Matt! Mike plays Beer Goggles by Lagwagon which takes the fellas back to the high school punk rock days. Face To Face was a popular 90s punk band that had a song pop in the 1995 original Mortal Kombat movie. We read your emails! Our pal Steve emailed us a bunch of random clips and tidbits. Steve is a treasure! Danny emails the show and brightens our day with a Shaun Rogers reference for our 92nd episode. The former Lion's defensive tackle live in in YouTube clips. Dany wants to know what we've been watching lately. We all consumed The Menu recently. If you haven't seen it, skip this part. Scott has some sizzling thoughts about Anya Taylor-Joy. We ran out of time, so we save the rest of the emails for next week. That means you Mr. Pink. We close this show with Teach Your Children by Crosby, Stills, Nash & Young since David Crosby bit the big one at 81 years old this week. If any of this nonsense strikes you, please email the show isitsafepod@gmail.com to improve the overall quality of future conversations. We love you all!

Ryan Greene is an American record producer, sound engineer, former owner of Crush Recording Studios in Scottsdale, Arizona and founder of Area 52 Entertainment in Los Angeles, California. In an over 25-year-long career he has worked with many artists including Jay-Z, Lita Ford, Tonic, Megadeth, Alice Cooper, Cheap Trick, Usher, Patti LaBelle, and Gladys Knight.  Ryan was THE guy when it came to producing the bands on Fat Wreck Chords. Some of those bands were NOFX, Lagwagon, No Use For A Name, Propaghandi, Pulley, Hi-Standard, Tilt, Bracket, and a shit ton of others that probably graced your CD collection.  There are so many good stories in this and I think a lot of you who love or loved the Fat bands from the late 90s will absolutely love them.  I got Ryan on the Skype and this is what we talk about: Demoing Stranger Than Fiction What the word Demo means to him Figuring out the emotion of each record he records Punk in Drublic's Mastering debacle Recording Hoss Some of the tricks he learned during his sessions Recording Less Talk More Rock by Propagandhi Recording Guttermouth Tony Sly And a ton more Get your Realtor Instagram Stickers by clicking here. Formed in early October of 1995, Boxer was a Boston-based four piece fast on the rise in the indie scene. With aggressive, heartfelt lyrics Boxer delivered the finest in east-coast punk. They managed to share the stage with acts such as Lagwagon, Weston, Lifetime, Screw 32, Good Riddance, Jimmy Eat World, and Bracket. Their debut and only album, "The Hurt Process," was put out on Vagrant Records as the labels first release. The band broke up soon after that release and Dave and Will went on to form The Lot Six. Thank you again Casey from Iodine Recordings for connecting us Just wanting to be a pop punk band Passing on being the singer for Big D and the Kids Table Playing a show with Lifetime Being Vagrant's first band Rama from Big Wheel Recording with Trevor Keith How signing to Vagrant effected the crowd size Auditioning for Kid Dynamite Chris leaving to play with The Dillinger Escape Plan Their guitarist going off to play with Jared Leto and Tom Delonge The Lot Six Getting a gun pulled on them And a ton more Go check out his latest band Beat Awfuls on bandcamp.
