Outline: Relaxation, Reading, Meditation, Prayer, Contemplation and Visualization. Get into a place where you can sit comfortably and uninterrupted for about 20 minutes. You should hopefully not be driving jor anything tensing or unrelaxing. If you feel comfortable to do so, I invite you to close your eyes. Guided Relaxation / Guided Meditation: Breathe and direct your thoughts to connecting with God. Let your stomach be a balloon inflate, deflate. Scripture for Meditation Joshua 1 NIV 7 “Be strong and very courageous. Be careful to obey all the law my servant Moses gave you; do not turn from it to the right or to the left, that you may be successful wherever you go. 8 Keep this Book of the Law always on your lips; meditate on it day and night, so that you may be careful to do everything written in it. Then you will be prosperous and successful. 9 Have I not commanded you? Be strong and courageous. Do not be afraid; do not be discouraged, for the Lord your God will be with you wherever you go.” NASB 7 Only be strong and very courageous; be careful to do according to all the Law which Moses My servant commanded you; do not turn from it to the right or to the left, so that you may achieve success wherever you go. 8 This Book of the Law shall not depart from your mouth, but you shall meditate on it day and night, so that you may be careful to do according to all that is written in it; for then you will make your way prosperous, and then you will achieve success. 9 Have I not commanded you? Be strong and courageous! Do not be terrified nor dismayed, for the Lord your God is with you wherever you go.” Meditation on Scripture: I find this scripture to be very interesting it is an idea sandwich or you could call it a small chiasm emphasizing the part in the middle. God's word is that we should be courageous then he talks about obeying the law, and then he turns back to being courageous. In some ways it may be surprising that in between the commands for courage is adherence to the law. I think many times if we are not careful when we seek to reject the feelings of shame that we feel for past sins we can rush right past the justice of the things God asks us into. Why does God invite us to do certain things? WHy do God's commandments exist? I certainly don't claim to speak for God but it seems a very large demotion if we think of the law only as the thing we will fail at that Jessus can then forgive us for when we receive His grace. That makes it seem like the law is meaningless. Although we don't live under the Law of Moses it is valuable to ponder God's law in general. It is my belief that God invites us into good. He creates laws and rules not to punish but to purify. He gives us commands such as chastity, honesty, faithfulness with the knowledge that as we observe them, we will be transformed and blessed. When we fail to do what God asks us to do we miss out on the blessings associated with the rule. For example if we lie then we come to not be trusted even by ourselves. So courage is not only to avoid anxiety for things that don't matter but to appropriately to learn to not fear anything that cant touch our soul. Jesus said we should not fear anything that can only kill our bodies. God could kill us and also has control over our very soul and he has offered grace and love to us. If we truly learn to prioritize the things God loves, then we need not fear anything else. If you ever feel fear of emotions, sickness, pain, death, or anything else consider this, what is that compared to the Love of God which has chosen to deliver us from the natural consequences of our failure. So rise up in the strength of the Lord, recommitting to God that you will be courageous in pursuing a life with Him and let every other fear fall away. Meditation of Prayer: Pray as directed by the Spirit. Dedicate these moments to the patient waiting, when you feel ready ask God for understanding you desire from Him. Meditation of God and His Glory / Hesychasm: I invite you to sit in silence feeling patient for your own faults and trials. Summarize what insights you have gained during this meditation and meditate and visualize positive change in your life: This is a listener funded podcast at patreon.com/christianmeditationpodcast Final Question: If you consider the invitation and command to persevere in the faith, what change in your life does that bring to your mind? “When Jesus Splits the Sky” by Patricia Bootsma is a well balanced blend of Biblical insight, practical wisdom, and personal experience. In her book Patricia offers a hope-filled guide for preparing for Christ's return. I especially love how she explains that if we don't understand Jewish customs and culture we miss the deeper meaning of Bible teaching. She also discusses the many parallels between ancient Jewish weddings and Jessus and the Bridegroom with the Church as His Bride. We discussed many other topics in today's podcast episode including: The parable of the 10 virgins, how your peace determines your pace, the importance of thankfulness, embracing sabbath rest, and more. This book is a fantastic follow-up for those who followed along with my Equipping the Bride Series and Becoming the Bride Series in 2024. “When Jesus Splits the Sky” Releases January 28th, so go pre-order your copy today. 27 "But I tell you truly, there are some standing here who shall not taste death till they see the kingdom of God." 28 Now it came to pass, about eight days after these sayings, that He took Peter, John, and James and went up on the mountain to pray. 29 As He prayed, the appearance of His face was altered, and His robe became white and glistening. 30 And behold, two men talked with Him, who were Moses and Elijah, 31 who appeared in glory and spoke of His decease which He was about to accomplish at Jerusalem. 32 But Peter and those with him were heavy with sleep; and when they were fully awake, they saw His glory and the two men who stood with Him. 33 Then it happened, as they were parting from Him, that Peter said to Jesus, "Master, it is good for us to be here; and let us make three tabernacles: one for You, one for Moses, and one for Elijah"--not knowing what he said. 34 While he was saying this, a cloud came and overshadowed them; and they were fearful as they entered the cloud. 35 And a voice came out of the cloud, saying, "This is My beloved Son. Hear Him!" 36 When the voice had ceased, Jesus was found alone. But they kept quiet, and told no one in those days any of the things they had seen. In Luke 9:27-36, Jesus is teaching about His kingdom by giving three of His disciples a glimpse of His coming glory and kingdom. It might interesting to note that Peter, James, and John had accompanied Jesus when He raised Jairus' daughter from the dead (Luke 8:51), and they would accompany Him when He prayed in the Garden (Matthew 26:36-46). These three occasions should remind us of Philippians 3:10, "That I may know Him [the Transfiguration], and the power of His resurrection [raising the girl], and the fellowship of His sufferings [in the Garden]." This may well have been the greatest "Bible conference" ever held on earth! Even apart from the great glory that was involved, here you certainly had the greatest speakers: Moses, the Law; Elijah, the Prophets; and Jesus, who came to fulfill the Law and the Prophets. You had the greatest topic: Jesus' "decease" that He would accomplish at Jerusalem. Moses had led Israel out of bondage from Egypt, and Elijah had delivered them from bondage to false gods; but Jesus would die to set a sinful world free from bondage to sin and death (Galatians 1:4; Colossians 1:13; Hebrews 2:14-15). And while all of this was going on, the three privileged disciples were sleeping! (They would repeat this failure in the Garden.) Peter gets caught up in the moment and tells Jessus that they should make three tabernacles. One for Moses, one for Elijah, and one for Jesus. Peter wanted Jesus to hold on to the glory apart from the suffering, but this is not God's plan. The Father interrupted Peter by bathing the scene in a cloud of glory (Exodus13:21-22; 40:35, 38) and speaking out of the cloud. These arresting words from heaven remind us of Deuteronomy 18:15; "The LORD your God will raise up for you a Prophet like me from your midst, from your brethren. Him you shall hear”.. When the cloud was gone, Elijah and Moses were also gone. As wonderful as these experiences are, they are not the basis for a consistent Christian life. That can come only through the Word of God. Experiences come and go, but the Word remains. Our recollection of past experiences will fade, but God's Word never changes. The farther we get from these events, the less impact they make on our lives. That was why the Father said, "Hear Him!" and why Peter made this same emphasis on the Word in his report (2 Peter 1:12-21). Are you listening to Jesus today? God bless!

Put your trust in the LordPsalm 4:5"Indeed, let God be true but every man a liar" (Romans 3:4).Millions have entrusted the salvation of their souls to man, rather than placing their trust in God. Millions believe in God, they believe He exists, but they do not place their trust in God.Many place their trust in the wrong things.Look up and read this chapter and search of what it'a referring to. 1 Corinthians 10 For I do not want you to be ignorant of the fact, brothers and sisters, that our ancestors were all under the cloud and that they all passed through the sea. 2 They were all baptized into Moses in the cloud and in the sea. 3 They all ate the same spiritual food 4 and drank the same spiritual drink; for they drank from the spiritual rock that accompanied them, and that rock was Christ. 5 Nevertheless, God was not pleased with most of them; their bodies were scattered in the wilderness.6 Now these things occurred as examples to keep us from setting our hearts on evil things as they did. 7 Do not be idolaters, as some of them were; as it is written: “The people sat down to eat and drink and got up to indulge in revelry.”[a] 8 We should not commit sexual immorality, as some of them did—and in one day twenty-three thousand of them died. 9 We should not test Christ,[b] as some of them did—and were killed by snakes. 10 And do not grumble, as some of them did—and were killed by the destroying angel.11 These things happened to them as examples and were written down as warnings for us, on whom the culmination of the ages has come. 12 So, if you think you are standing firm, be careful that you don't fall! 13 No temptation[c] has overtaken you except what is common to mankind. And God is faithful; he will not let you be tempted[d] beyond what you can bear. But when you are tempted,[e] he will also provide a way out so that you can endure it.
